  1. Come on Jo and just pick an answer. Its a reasonable request. When you get put on hold don't you like an estimate of the que time? You've put us all on hold. How long do you estimate we will be on hold? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  2. My sincere condolences Lucky. Your Dad is in a better place now with no pain and no suffering. The immediate hurt will subside as time passes but you will never forget your father. The love you feel for him never dies or even abates. It lives in you and in that sense keeps him alive in your heart forever. My Dad died in 1978 and I miss him every single day. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  3. Here's how you learn to jump: sport parachuting training military training smoke jumper training That's basically it as far as I know. I've never heard of industrial parachutists. Piplelines and power lines in remote areda can be accessed by helos. I saw an interesting use of a helo in Hawaii. A Hughes 500 with no markings zooms in and hovers about 50 feet above a "garden" rimmed by high trees on an adjacent property. A rope is tossed out and ten a big sack is dropped. A crewman rappels down the re rope, disconnects and pulls out a big cargo net. He quickly machete cuts a big bunch of marijuana, shoves it into the net, purses the drawstrings, then clips himself and the net to the dangling rope. The helo ascends with crewman and dope slung below and heads away high and fast. No winch. They just carry the load somwhere distant and descend very slowly. I wasn't sure it was cops. The pilot wore sunglasses and a Hawaiian shirt. No badges, uniforms or markings. Might have been a ripoff. It shows how an ordinary helo can insert and extract a person from an area too dangerous to land in. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  5. Jo, I am hardly coercing you to make a statement. YOU make statement after statement. You then promise to back them up with evidence that you possess but can't reveal just yet. Predictably you fail to disclose the promised evidence. I was taught by a brilliant defense lawyer that the surest way to lose a case was to claim something extreme in your opening statement to a jury and then fail to deliver the evidence during the trial. You aren't on the witness stand Jo. You are an advocate who has made a series of extraordinary claims about Duane and then failed to produce the promised supporting evidence every single time. You are free to post, to make unsubstantiated claims, associate Duane with just about every major US asassination victim of his era etc etc. Just don't cast yourself as the victim of an unjust inquisition. That is ridiculous. I find it amusing and far more indicative of narciscism than real threats that you fear for your safety if you reveal the truth about Duane. It does however serve a valuable function for you in justifying your endless renegging on disclosure promises. You have a perfect opportunity to strike back Jo and make me look like a mean old fool by proving Duane Weber was Dan Cooper. Your move. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 6. Promises, promises. Once again Jo can't reveal the key evidence now but will soon. Yawn... This is ridiculous Jo. Really. If you have evidence publish it. You keep promising the moon and delivering absolutely nothing. You are hopelessly addicted to the tease. I guess it focuses attention on you. I can't think of any other reason you repeat the behavior over and over. It turned me from a sympathetic protector to a harsh critic. Sluggo too. Sigh. 377 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  7. Snowmman wrote: Indeed. Prosperous communes with tanks, missiles and planes. What a thought. Snow always sees things from a new angle which is refreshing, but sometimes scary. Obama thinks we can accomplish what Ghenghis Kahn and the Russians could not do. They were not restrained by the same rules we are. Obama is making the bet with our kid's lives and our tax dollars. Uh... and what is the payoff if we "finish the job" in Afghanistan? The rhetoric about removing training grounds for terrorists is laughably absurd. Do you really think theyd have trouble finding new places to learn the trade? Follow the money. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  8. I was standing only about 50 ft away from those daring lunatics who landed the Mr. Bill at WFFC. I watched them on the way down. Once they got below about 900 feet I knew they were definitely going to land it. They weren't under a huge canopy either. I was really scared that I was going to witness a train wreck. Thank God they pulled it off, PERFECTLY. That Mr. Bill landing, the intentional low cutaways to demo the Skyhook and Luigi Cani's landing of a roughly 36 sq ft canopy made WFFCs events to remember. I've never been so scared just watching other jumpers. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  9. In my email conversations with Galen Cook he impressed me as a solid guy, not prone to exagerration. I wonder what he has found that makes him confident enough to say what was quoted above? I look forward to more news about his quest. The book is long overdue. It would be worth postpoining publication if you thought you were on the verge of finding irrefutable physical evidence supporting the thesis of your book. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 10. Jo has a new protector. I've been hoping someone would run for that office. It's been empty since she refused to stop teasing and overclaiming. I can finally turn over the badge to the new sherriff. Is there any such thing as a "trivial" connection of a convicted criminal to Oswald, Ruby, Ray, or the people they killed? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 12. It just keeps getting better. Now we can add Jack Ruby to the incredible list of dead celebs. Maybe Duane wasn't really a person but rather the grim reaper himself. Keith and Mick (yes Duane knew them too) were duly impressed and wrote a song about him. Please allow me to introduce myself I'm a man of wealth and taste I've been around for a long, long year Stole many a man's soul and faith And I was 'round when Jesus Christ Had his moment of doubt and pain Made damn sure that Pilate Washed his hands and sealed his fate Pleased to meet you Hope you guess my name But what's puzzling you Is the nature of my game I stuck around St. Petersburg When I saw it was a time for a change Killed the Czar and his ministers Anastasia screamed in vain I rode a tank in the general's rank When the Blitzkrieg raged And the bodies stank Pleased to meet you Hope you guess my name, oh yeah Ah, what's puzzling you Is the nature of my game, oh yeah (woo woo, woo woo) I watched with glee While your kings and queens Fought for ten decades For the gods they made (woo woo, woo woo) I shouted out, "Who killed the Kennedys?" When after all It was you and me (who who, who who) 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  14. What a great idea the FBI came up with in making homeland security priority one. In a criminal investigation success is Tangible and measurable. In homeland security if nothing happens you succeeded 100%. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  15. sonar reflectivity is roughly proportional the the density difference between the target and the surrounding water. Sidecscan sonar uses a towed multielement transducer array. The results can be stunning. An image of a sunken boat can look almost like a photograph. Water turbulence degrades the image. 16. What Quade said. It's soooo easy to spin up the cammo couch potato patriots. You know, the ones who have gun safes and refrigerators of equal size and talk shit about firefights and tactical ops when they struggle mightily to walk a few hundred feet without getting winded. The garage is chock full of dried food and ammo, you know the type. Beer advertisers pay good money for this audience. It's easy to jack the ratings up. 17. Tail or tail mounted engine (727, DC 9 etc) strike is possible on a high speed side door exit. Although it seems unlikely, skydivers have had quite a few tail strikes exiting planes like King Air 90s, PAC 750, Beech 99 etc. Some tail strikes have been fatal. I know paratroopers make side exits on Hercs and C 141s, but they are going pretty slow over the DZ. So what do you fly far flung? Your detailed knowledge of the B 17 is impressive. I got my first lesson in sexism when woman friend of my Mom's remarked on a plastic model of a B 17 I was building in sixth grade. "Oh, that's a G model" she said. "I used to fly them." I said "uh huh" wondering how my Mom's friend knew what a G model B 17 was and why she was lieing about flying one. EVERYONE knew B 17s were flown by men. I just ignored her and kept building. It wasn't until years later that I learned about the WASP pilots. Turned out she had flown many different WW 2 medium and heavy bombers from their factories to Maine where male ferry pilots took them across the Atlantic to the UK. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 18. Sigh... but I am just going to let it be. 377 A more noble pursuit worth 13 years... At any point in time, there are only about 23,000 Icelandic women between the ages of 18 and 30. If you focus on identical twins, the pool drops to maybe 100. If you want frustration..that's frustration. Why do you seek identical twins Snow? Some sort of "phased array" experiment or will you exceed the duty cycle of a single girl and use time division multiplexing? Be careful, if those Slovenian beauties at the home office find out you are coveting Icelandic girls you will need major protection. The prom queen usually does have a gun in Slovenia. Why doesnt anyone respond to my question about what you'd guess about airload effects on 727 stairs? To me I'd expect the stairs to be pushed back up against the fuselage making exit difficult or impossible. A gravity assited non powered drop and a stable lowered position is counter intutive to me. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  20. Ahhh, its Snowing again. Welcome back. Your perspective is interesting. I really hadnt thought of it that way. The Icelandic economy was musical chairs but with only enough chairs for about 1% of the population when the music stopped. Lot's of seatless people but a few did just fine I am sure. Farflung's observation is also interesting. Cooper sure put a lot of faith in others and they surely did NOT have his best interests at heart. Hey, maybe only $5800 made it to the plane. Some cops take money. Ask any drug dealer who was arrested with a large amount of cash. The amount entered into the evidence lockers is rarely the amount seized. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  21. You do raise an interesting point though G. Jo, who was so protective of her papers and wouldn't let Sluggo publish or disclose what he saw, tells the world that she has proof that Duane Weber was Dan Cooper. Talk about a slam dunk setup for the issuance of a search warrant. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  22. I think you mean search warrant. Bench warrants are arrest warrants usually issued when defendants are no shows for court dates. Been there. Me: "uh... Your honor, if you'd just delay issuing that bench warrant until the court recesses for the day my client may make a late appearance. He may be having car trouble" Da Judge: "counsel you've made your request and it is denied. The warrant shall issue forthwith, bail is forfeited, and as for car trouble, your client is charged with stealing a car at gunpoint. I hope that is not the kind of car trouble he is experiencing today." 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  23. Georger seems to know a lot about girls from different countries. Kinda reminds me of that Ricky Nelson song: Traveling Man. I didn't even have a passport until I was 30. I wouldn't know an Icelandic girl if I saw one, unless she was Bjork. I do think Snowmman could spot one in a crowd. Great article Orange. Funny how the author ties all of Iceland's economic woes back to the gambling nature of commercial fishermen. Come on Snowmman, say something Bruce, too if he's up to it health wise. What about the other airplane people out there. Wouldn't you have thought the airloads would force a 727 stair upwards making exit difficult or impossible? That tells me Cooper knew about the Boeing and or Air America flights proving that the 727 was jumpable. It's not obvious or intuitive. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  24. I question whether an NWA mechanic would know for sure that a 727 was jumpable. It is NOT apparent from the flight manual I have which has all sorts of detailed systems diagrams. Even if he traced out all the interlocks and determined that you could unlatch the stairs in flight, he wouldnt know that they would descend to a jumpable position. I'd have guessed that the airloads would have pushed the stairs upwards with considerable force, but that wasnt the case. I still think you'd have to have some Boeing or Air America data to know for sure. The pilots and FE didnt know. They had to have NWA ops contact Boeing to find out the answer. If Cooper had zero parachuting experience and jumped from that 727 on a stormy night with exact position unknown, he had incredible courage. Just jumping from a Cessna on your first jump is VERY VERY scary and that's with training, a jumpmaster sitting next to you and knowing that the chances of a safe landing are very high. What would really throw me for a loop is if Cooper just guessed that a 727 was jumpable and didnt know for sure. Could he have been that stupid? I doubt it. He knew about flaps, gear, speeds, etc. He was not aviation ignorant. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  25. I was wondering when this would come up. It is avoided, of course. In the end, the Mothership or a Soviet submarine lost it there. Hmmm... Submarine. Maybe Rat knew something and his attempt to have Cooper jump into the Pacific wasnt a murderous plan. Just kidding, but the Chritiansen as Cooper story doesn't have me thinking case closed. How do the authors quantify their 90-95% certainty about Christiansen being Cooper? Where are the metrics? I thought that would bring Snowmman into the fray, but it takes better bait than that apparently. I'll have to recruit some Icelandic girls to the forum. That'll get Snow out of his cave. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
