  1. Congrats You will love it There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  2. and I forgot to add first snow jump to the first list. It was also the first time I've spotted. More firsts on this jump than my first It was nice to surf knee high along the snow for 10 meters and then pulling it up to stand at the end. (not quite so nice to flare a little late and tumble in the snow ) It wasn't cold at all neither in the plane, freefall or under canopy, but then again we Norwegians are vikings There are only 10 types of people in the world. 3. I just fold the 4 cells on each side once into the middle and leave the center cell open. Only got 5 jumps on my hornet so far, but it has opened consistantly each time. Had one linetwist on one, and a half on another one, but that's more probably because of the way I stowed the lines. Not looking at the pilot and deployment from the moment I throw it would probably help to, and give me a better body position when I dump. I just like to see that pilot all the way
  4. The Hornet is out of production, but you can maybe still get one from some dealers that got it in stock. PISA that made the Hornet has merged with Aerodyne systems. I've heard that the Hornet is replaced by Aerodynes Pilot. Psycho packing is a different way to bag the canopy and is easier on new ZP canopies. However, PISA and Aerodyne use a different ZP fabric than e.g. PD that is not so slippery. I have no problem bagging my brand new Hornet 170 into my container that is sized for a 150. I do a regular pro-pack. Psycho packing clicky:http://precision.aerodynamics.com/psycho/psycho_pack.htm I would recomend having someone who do psycho pack show you how. Ask around at the DZ. I think you might want a bridle extension to prevent burns on the fabric from the bridle. Do a search on the forums. Psycho vs. propack has been widely discussed. 5. ...and I bet you finally got some peace of mind again. Jump season -03 is open
  6. And I forgot to add this was: - First jump on my Hornet - First jump at the GFSK dropzone (they rock by the way
  7. The weather forcast was cloudy, but it became a beutiful sunny weekend . I finally got up to jump again. My last jump was in september, but I found that freefalling is like riding a bike. It's still there. Lovely weather. +5-6C. I were excited about how my new Hornet would fly. I've downsized from a clipper 190 to a 170 and since it was 6 months since my last jump I though I might have some bad landings. However, the Hornet was a completely different animal to fly and land. So great to actually having a canopy that flares
  8. This is the modyfied C-182 at Skydive Hoakz. Mini jets are only used for climb, and it takes you to 14000' in only 7 minutes There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

    Veto Quiz...

What if the US invaded Israel instead and gave the palestinians back their land, independence and freedom. What would be the odds that Sadam Husain/Irak would disarm according to UN resolutions then. Would the US be a terror target anymore? Why can Israel dictate the foreign policy of the USA. By the way, i've heard some rumors that they got nukes There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

    Hey....

...you forgot something (from norwegian newspaper) There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  11. I overheard my girlfriend replying to her sister about if she wasn't worried about me going to start skydiving. She said: "Not really, but when he learns to pack parachutes he got to get good at folding bedsheets..."

  13. Hi I know that the reserve frequency is roughly 1/700, but what is the cypres save statistics. My guess would be somewhere about 1/30000, but that number is just based on my common sense and guessing. There are only 10 types of people in the world. RSLs

RSL: - Bought a used Vector II without one. I can pull my own handles (been there)... However, a RSL is more likely to save my life than kill me so I just got one installed. PC in tow: Been there due to a misrouted bridle. I have seen all the debate and wonder how many people saying to just pull the reserve that has actually had one. With a PC in tow you burn altitude fast, and I would not recomend to analyze the situation. Act and act promptly. My experience was: Dump....wait...!!!!!!! nothing happening!!!...started pulling handles. Look through the incidents forums for the full story. AAD: Since some people have brought it up again in this thread here's my opinion: As long as it's availble I see no reason not to have one. It costs about $100/year. 15. I've been running the seti client since 1999. I considered changing to the cancer research one on grid, but decided to stick with seti@home. If we find proof that we are not alone, that will answer one of our oldest questions. It may even change the way many people think. It's kind of like proving that God exists. (which I btw don't belive) Seti@home is space exploration, and space technology has also helped cancer research. There are only 10 types of people in the world. 16. After a freezing winter and ages since last jump, my hard deck for temperatures is sinking all the time. Lucky for me the temperatures is also rising day by day now
  17. I'm in Norway, wanna compete in bad weather . The forecast was sunny blue skies and -2C. Would have been a beautiful jump day. Instead we got fog and a cloud base at 1500-2000 Anyway, spring is coming and I consider jump season for open again
  18. Hi... I were going to jump this weekend, but the weather wanted it otherwise. I wasn't sure I would get my rig back in time, and Bivar offered me to use his rigg saturday if I wanted. Never met him until today...I got my rigg back in time, but still...
  19. No doubt the NA thread...and it's still going on...HH asked us to find a chatroom for it and now it's still continuing on [url http://www.hameenlaskuvarjourheilijat.fi/2003/chat2/automatic.php]bleetherchat....
  20. I live in Norway just as Bivar, so your scale is way to low. Todays price, converted to $/gallon: $5.74 hmm...we are an oil producing country...why so high price. Over 80% of that price is taxes!!! There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  21. Not trouble... Started working out, lost 10kg first, then gained 10 kg. Didn't put it on where I lost it
  22. Well if you Americans wonder what feeds the anti-americanism in Europe this is one of the reasons. The U.S. is not listening to the rest of the world, but tends to do whatever they want anyway. Wether or not we (NATO+USA++) should go to war against Irak is a though decision, but I believe we at least should agree on it first, before one country takes actions on it's own. It's sad to see how this question divides us. Both internal and external we turn against each other. Even skydivers turn against skydivers and almost starts fights on these forums. I hope we all can agree on one thing: C-130's should not be used for war, but for skydiving! oh....and I almost forgot: Boobies!!!! There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

    gear copy

I checked the Norwegian gear lists and here TSE Zerox riggs manufactured before 1. august 1988 is allowed. Newer Zeroxes are forbidden. I believe I read something about they moved the factory and lost their TSO. There more info aboute the Zerox in Poynter Vol.2 5.610. I don't have it, and I'm no rigger but maybe it will give some more info on if it's tso'd, where the label is and so on. Sounds like you might have to get a new rig... But hey....NEW RIG...
  24. I'll just add, if you go for second hand equipment, be careful if your buying an old F111. The fabric in those canopies wears faster than the newer and better canopies suggested here. Also if you buy second hand, ask some experienced people what they think of the price. Try before you buy. It's also a good idea to demo some different canopies too. A curious mind is what keeps you alive in this sport, so keep asking questions.

    My picture

Ah, the beautyful thing about the nordic languages. We can understand them all. (Ok, Islandic is a bit different, and finish.....) Jpeg tweeking can be fun, and the pics can be made quite small. Got my down to 1432 bytes... PS is one of the best programs to use. The save for web function really rocks. Irfan view is great because it can be batched. Great if you want to convert and resize hundreds of pics. As for the IP address thing, the great thing about that is that for those of us has a little knowledge of how it really works, we can apear to be at somewher e we're not. If I wan't I can make it seem like I'm sitting in japan, usa or whatever.... There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
