  1. They belived it was an meteorite... Now be more careful with those spaceballs next time There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  2. Always check your gear is one lesson to be learned here, but there is an (IMO) equally important one to be learned here too: Always know your gear. If you had known how the astra works and should be operated, you would not have turned it on. Since this was your 20th jump or something I assume this was still on your student progression. Where was the instructor/jumpmaster that was supposed to check your gear before you boarded the plane? This would probably not have happend with the cypres, but read the cypres manual. There is a couple of things to be aware of. Happy to hear it ended well
  3. That's sounded scary! I'm a bit worried myself. My brakelines is only fingertapped, not stitched. The fingertap is about 4 inches, so it sits tight, but I'm keeping my eye on them. A rigger mounted them when the canopy was brand new 20 jumps ago. Probably didn't bartack them in case they had to be adjusted. I've though of marking the line with ink so that it's easy to see if they start to slip. Anyone know what kind of markers that can be used safe, without detering the material in the line? 4. Saw this little note in todays Dagbladet, a national Norwegian paper. Thought maybe some of you would recognize the skydiver... Here is a quick translation of the text: There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

    Tough Hiker

I guess there where supposed to be a link with your post. Anyway, I saw a note on it in a Norwegian newspaper. It`s unbelievable. ... There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  7. Try to run away from a pc in tow There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  8. Well sort of. I asked my employer for a week off work with pay to compete in the nationals. I got two days with pay, but have to take the three other days as vacation. Still not bad. For two days I'm getting payed for skydiving There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  9. My rsl is connected to my left riser. This can't happen to me.... Hmm...maybe murphy will figure out a way anyway... There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  10. Excuse me for saying this, but some people should not skydive and/or some people should not give first jump coarses. There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  11. When seeking a new job, I've found that kvality is better than quantety. If you apply for 400 jobs it will shine through. To get a job I've found these key elements to work nice: - Call and talk to them. If you are so lucky to know someone who works/worked there, mention it. Before you call do some research about the company. Find out where their office is, HQ, number of employees, key business areas and so. - Do whatever it takes to get to an interview. It's not negative to be a little pushy. If you live out of town, call and say you will be in the area a day, and ask for 5 minutes to present yourself. - Figure out what you will answer to standard questions like: "What are you good at", "What are you not so good at?", "How do you deal with stress?". What you answer to these questions is not so important as how you answer them. I once got asked in a job interview: -"What do you think is the best part of a work day" -"Lunch!" The interviewer laughed, and had to agree...and I got the job
  12. Sounds like mustard had a good advice. It will be very hard to spinn while in a track. Anyway, I had simular problems on level 3 in my aff. I couldn't hold my heading and started to turn/spin. Even on video it wasn't possible to see excatly what caused the spin. Then I change my heavy boots with sneakers. Then I felt the wind on my legs/feet and felt I could steer. Feeling in controll made my much more relaxed to and never had any problems since. Keep on jumping, and suddenly it will all feel so natural. 13. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I bought my Hornet from icarus, and Manny was pollite and responded quickly to my questions. No problems at all. To get the best possible fit of a suit, it's best to go directly to the manufactor and get them to take the measurments. There are only 10 types of people in the world. Eavesdropping

The moral thing to do would be to hang up. You are a BAD girl... I on the other hand never sings while driving alone, so this would never happen to me.... There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

    What would you do?

What use is a brand new container if you don't have the money to jump. Set aside half of the money as savings for a new container, and jump for the rest of the money at wffc-03. Jumping is more important than cool gear!
  18. Sideways...that must have been interesting. I now see the reason why a rigger must do this in Norway
  19. Reading about all the people hurting and killing themself with low turns and getting warned a million times at the dropzone, I'm now so scared that i rather land in trees, hit fences, hangars or something else bad. With my wingloading I know I most probably will walk away with a couple of bruises from the above, but even with a moderate wingload one can kill oneself with a low turn. If I were flying a VX 89...well...maybe I ain't ready for that yet There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  20. But cypres has a two pin version. Infact it's only to change the cutter... Am I missing the point here?????? There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

  22. I have recently started jumping my Hornet 170. Got 20 jumps on it and love it. I load it at about 1.1. Haven't had any hard openings, and now that I'm becoming more used to packing it, they are very consitant and on heading. They are not sniveling, but more firm and even. The quality of the canopy also looks good. The ZP fabric that PISA used is not as slippery as the one PD uses. Which material that is best have been discussed a lot, but they seem to be pretty equal. Hornets are easier to pack when new. Since PISA merged with Aerodyne they don't make Hornets anymore. I think the equivalent is the Pilot. While it's a shame that there will be no more Hornets, it's not all bad. If you want to send it to the factory for repairs or a reline you can send it to Aerodyne which probably is closer than South Africa. I would say that the price was about right. If you search these forums you will find that people have payed between 700-1000 for new hornets, depending a bit on exchange rates and so. There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  23. There is absolutly nothing wrong with pink in canopies...!!! There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  24. I saw Navy Seals (1990) the other day, and it had a skydiving sequence in it. Bad movie, ok skydiving. (oxygen jump with scuba gear.) Funny cutaway There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
