    Partey....

No jumping today... Today is party day....
  3. Since I haven't jumped in a while, I've been doing a lot of thinking. And so comes ideas. I'm thinking of a tailwing (see attached sketch). This wing is adds additional surface, and is kind of like a 1/3 wingsuit. It's a wing attached between the legs below the knees. Each leg has a cutaway system that allows for quick release . An adjustable string just above the knee, secured by the cutaway cord, keeps it from blowing of. Has anyone ever tried something simular? Without making a prototype model and jump with it, it's not easy to imagine how it will be to fly. One will have to experiment with different sizes to find out what's optimal. I've made these assumptions: - If it's not to big, it wont just put you in head down. - It can make it possible to track with straight legs and arms extended infront. (Kinda like superman
  4. Your confusing Valentines Day for normal people with Valentines Day for skydivers. Valentines Day for skydivers is all about going to the dz and give kiss passes There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  5. Just takes a little getting used to. After that it's no big deal. I would recomend dispoables. Then it's no big deal if you loose one. I've even svum with my contacts without loosing them. I've opened my eyes under water without loosing them. The only way I've managed to loose one is swimming under water with my eyes open. If you fall asleep with them they will become dry, and difficult to get out. The best then is to wait an hour before you take them out, so they soften up a bit. Another method of getting dry lenses out is to stick your head under water. Open your eyes and shake your head violently.
  6. It's not??? I kinda feel like it is There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

    High/Low

High: Bought a small trailer (campingvogn) at the dz.
  9. I've been told it's best to store the canopy unpacked and unbagged. Just stuff it in the gearbag and zip it up. Be carefull not to get the fabric in the zipper. There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  10. Is bletherchat working again, or is it just me? There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  11. It's definitly something wrong with it... Well, maybe I'll get my dz.com posts numbers up to the next level then There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  12. How about adding a timezone-offset field in the userprofile so that when we post, the post time and the local time will show up. Would be interesting to know when people post. Middel of the nigh, early morning.... There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  13. In Norway a reserve has a lifespan of 20 years before it's considdered unairworthy. Just national regulations, but probably put there for a reason. Don't know which. There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  14. Or even better: Demo the canopy you want to jump. You'll get the canopy mounted on your rigg and you can try how it fits by packing it yourself.
  15. If you really thought this thing with suicide through, then you should have comed to some alternative solutions. Since suicide would be the last thing you do, it might be smart to try other solutions first. My favorite alternativ is to just go away. Leave all your friend, family and life as you know it behind you. Who knows where you'll end up? Maybe you'll meet the love of your life in Bombay. Maybe you'll find wisdom and paece in Tibet. Maybe you'll end up as a beggar and drug adict in Buenos Airos. Maybe you'll become a skydiver bum. Packing and jumping and enjoy life. Maybe you'll realize your life wasn't so bad and go back. Stop pitying yourself. Take responsibility. Life is hard, but tough! There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  16. Would that not be a bad thing to do a low turn. I thought that was when the tandem master tells the student to do as they have practised. - "Now put both your legs in front of you and aim for that bastards head" There are only 10 types of people in the world. 17. My hard deck is at 0°C ground temperature. I've heard that it doesn't neccesary get colder the higer you go. Because the cold air sinks to the ground, it can be warmer at 10 000' than at ground level. Can anybody confirm this? There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
  18. whoaah... The one with everyone on the top looks cool. A little dangerous, but I guess it's fine as long as they don't hit the tail while exiting. The guy climbing out in front of the nose looks stupid. ( I hope these were well trained stuntmen that knew what they were doing) It's amazing he didn't end up in the propellar. Look at his exit, must have been a near miss. I'm no expert on these kind of things, but do anybody disagree with me when I say I think it was a stupid stunt to pull?!? 19. I came to think of this thread suddenly. I were hungry so I made my self a salad with corn (mais), ham and jalapenos. Does that count...? There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

  21. This is what I think of slinks and rapide links. This is not what I know, but what I THINK. Several of the below statements are PROBABLY WRONG!!! It's my understanding that the rapide links can cause nicks in the slider grommets. Hence more wear to the lines. But as long as I've got bumper on my rapide links it shouldn't matter. Slinks would make it easier to pull the slider behind your neck, but you could risk to have the slider punch away a toggle if it continues long enough down your risers. Slinks will wear and need replacement, rapide lastst longer. I would imagine that slinks would cause more wear to the fingertapped section of the canopy lines, due to more friction. Maybe eventually causing a line break. Any opinions? I'm I totally wrong about the wear to the line thing? This thread shoud have been in the gear and rigging forum.
