Would you object to paying a yearly $25 fee for using the forums?

Let's see It seems like 50% of the active people here would go away if the forums became subscription based. If half of the people here stopped comming back, what would the site be like? What makes the dropzone.com great is that it's so many people here. However, I think a good idea could be to offer some sort of gold-membership. Doesn't have to give you any more rights, just another color on your name in the forums (kinda like the greenes have, but another color than green of course.) Won't drive anybody away. I think many people here would pay $15 to get another color on their name in the forums -

What?!? You can install Checkpoint on winNT. It's software. I agree that without securing th OS the firewall isn't secure. Anyway, firewalling is much more than level 4 packet filtering. There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Sometimes it would have been great to be able to hyperliink to others posts. I know I can hyperlink to threads...but not posts. There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Hmm...have allways had the wysiwyg editor until today. I've cleared my cookies and temp files, but I think that's the only change I've made. Has HH removed the fancy thing There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

One thing that is great for hangovers is isotonic sports drinks like XL1 or simular. They are designed to quickly repair dehydration, which is what really causes much of the hangover symptoms. There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Morning to ya all... [/#003366] I tried to find som more info on the Vichy Espace Boogie. However the website seems to be taken over by a porn site. I'm not making this clickable, but isn't this the right url. (WARNING: If you go there now, you end up in pop-up hell....) http://www.espace-boogie.com / I want to go there... Hey, the AN28 is great. 10 minutes to 13000, but noisy like hell... What kind of plane is the AN72??? There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Also an idea would be to make dropdown lists for topics on new posts in the incidents forum. "fatal/nonfatal", "Collision, Cutaway, low turn, highspeed mal" "free text"... Might work, but maybe not a great idea. Just popped into my head... Maybe better, instead of a sticky post. Why don't you just post a short reminder of the forum rules at the editor page so it's visible when people are writing the posts. Some script like "if forum=incidents print "Think before you post..." What about using the forum rules as default text for the editor window? Just some thoughts.... There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

This thread is running wild. Don't even bother to read it all. Anyway...I'm wasting away my worktime (does anybody remember the original topic here?). A few more post and we might push the maximum limit for replies to a post in HH database... Think this thread now is ranked at a 3rd place according to replies...wow There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

I think a cypres is a really, really, really good idea regardless of level

I want to go to Florida too! It's just snowing or raining here now. The plane ticket over to Miami is now just $650 from Norway. The only thing I need is vacation time(and some money). Just started a new job, so I don't think I can take any vacation before next year. There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

A story from another skydiving couple. He wanted to start BASE jumping. She wasn't so keen on the idea of him BASE jumping so she said that if he started BASE she would to! He has not started BASE yet.... There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

[/#003366]The situation would be completly different! The expert cypress fires at 750' if the rate of decent exceeds 78mph or 35m/sec. At that speed your reserve will open much faster than cutting away a "flying" canopy at 750 when your speed is something like 10mph!!! Just wanted to point that out so that people understand that cutting away at 750 is DANGEROUS. At 750 it might be a good idea to just pull the reserve and not cut away, but that is a jugdement call. Would you rather risk a main/reserve entanglement (or deal with a downplane) or would you risk not getting a fully deployd reserve??? Neither is a good solution, but depending on what mal you have, it might be better than doing nothing... As for your cutaway at 1300' I think you did the right thing. You are alive and not hurt.

Hi I jumped a pd190 for a few jumps. Mine had a hole cut in the slider and the openings were inconsistent a first, and it gave me a good wipping a couple of times. I assume you are propacking. When packing make sure to do a good job on arranging all the lines and skirts and keep it symetric. Take care positioning the slider in a good X so it will slow things down. Roll the four nose cells at each side of the center cell. If you roll them thight it will also slow things down. Take care when you pull the tail round to close the pack job, and don't roll it to much. You could end up messing up the the pack job, and possible make a line over. One technic that really slow things down is to put each of the four nose cells and put them into the front cell. Beware that the canopy can stream for quite a while when doing this, and I've been told it can cause damage to the canopy. This was what I did on mine and it gave me great opening. Before you try any of these things, get advice from someone you know is a good packer. (A friendly packer at the dz perhaps). Get him/her to watch how you pack, and they can probably give you advice how to slow down the openings and other see where you make mistakes. Now, get in a hot bathtub and relax that neck...hope it gets better soon

Also, to prevent injury. Stay in shape. Work out. Ever wonder how some people walk away from what others would be carried? Some luck, but mostly because they are in good physical shape. If your fit, then you stand a better chance of walking away from accidents. A friend of mine was in a car accident this summer. She suffered no injury. Her friend sitting in the next seat had 4 broken ribs and a wiplash. Guess who worked out... Just my $0.02...

Just use up their time, as they are yours. As soon as you know it's somebody who tries to sell you someting say something like: "hold on a minute, I have a kettle on the stove..." After 5 minutes pick up the phone again and if he's still there (most will wait 5 min) start talking to him as you're actually are interessed in his product. Then...."sorry, There's someone at the door...please hold on"... Now he thinks he is going to get a sale so he'll wait for 10 minutes. Talk to him again, say that you want to buy..."oh, I got a caller on the other line...hold on..." Wait for 30 minutes to be sure he's gone. If he's not, get mad at him and hang up. After doing this a coupple of times, your number get's blacklisted at the telemarkers, and they wont bother you again.
