I had a 150 @ 1.1. Great canopy. Now it's called the Pilot, yes they are virtually the same canopy... Memento Audere Semper 903

Question: Highest Pull Altitude?
nicknitro71 replied to Kramer's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
You guys don't even come close! I got static lined out of 24,000 in a HAHO jump! Talking about cross-country! Memento Audere Semper 903 -
How do you use your Closing Pin Necklace?

If you really do send me a PM with their e-mails. I'm looking for a D4 with medium or medium large harness and I CANNOT find one. BTW, everything Unstable said is right on. I own one and do everything with it. It's ugly, that's it. And about the PC fabric popping out, just have it closed like a javelin... Cool Memento Audere Semper 903

An 18 year old kid can go ahead and buy a R1, a vette, and a gun. Do you accept that? I think education works better than rules, as simple as that. As for USPA regulating WL it's a tough call. WL by itself does not work because a 120 Lb novice under a 120 canopy is going to be much faster than a 280 Lber under a 280 canopy. It ain't that simple. Yes you can make tables and charts to be updated every year with newer canopies and so forth. Will that solve the problem? I don't think so but they can always try. We should emphasize more canopy control nowadays than anything else. Again only education will solve this issue IMHO. As for the motorcycle analogy, it's a good one. I used to teach MSF classes while in college and I cannot tell you how many kids I convinced not to get fast bikes as their first ones. I see way too many squids on the road riding with shorts, popping wheelies, and slow down below the speed limit before turning because they don't have the first clue how to do it. Then the same kids end up in hospitals missing skin, limbs, neurons, and lives. Again all this because of lack of education. We have a licensing system, god damn let's put it to use. Let's include canopy skills, flight theory, a bit of aerodynamics and so forth on every jump during training. Very few instructors do that. All the emphasis is on the damn freefall but in order to successfully complete a freefall and make another one a jumper must land safely. Memento Audere Semper 903

A: 1.3 B: 1.7 C: 2.0 D: unlimited Then let Darwin's dangerous idea take over I don't know where you guys jump but where I do instructors and experienced jumpers look at your landings and the path you take to do so. They have no problem grounding you on a particular wingload if they feel it's unsafe. Similarly if they see solid canopy control skills they also have no problem letting you downsize. Rules, regulations, bullshit left and right...I don't know. I think all we need is a bit of common sense and enforce that. Memento Audere Semper 903

comparison- vengence and stilletos
nicknitro71 replied to fedykin's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I jump a Viper 135 that flies very much like a Stiletto of the same size with a bit flatter glide and a bit more flare power. Anyhow I only junped a Vengence 135 ONCE so what I can tell you is very limited. The vengence felt like a 150 compare to my Viper. Everything was slower, speed, turns, much less flare power. It opened really nice though. Nice canopy overall but it just felt big and sluggish. The same day and the previous one I jumped a Samurai 120 and that felt more like a 105 than a 120; friking fast! I was told that the samurai 120 is much faster than a stiletto or viper of the same size. I bowtied the Sam on my first landing because I treated it like my viper, i.e. you cannot flare all the way! The second landing was probably the best and the longest one I've had so far. I just planed it out and use about two extra inches to flare it. Nice canopy just a bit too fast for me now. By the way the I load the 135 a bit less than 1.3 and the 120 about 1.45. Cool Memento Audere Semper 903 -
Bullshit I owe you a rental! That prodigy finally did something cool! What's up man? It was so much fun. I did not have any hope on getting that far! By the way Martina did two freefalls and she did really good. I filmed the second one; Larry did not want me on the first load with her! She got really high after the first one. Now she wants to dig into it! See you Sat dude! Memento Audere Semper 903

So Sunday I made my first CRW. I have never been so jacked up since probably my first jump. I could not get rid of the big smile on my face. I exited first and pull after three sec delay. The Prodigy 175 opened nice and on-heading. Larry, an instructor and experienced CRW, jumped second and docked below me. I hook my feet on the A line and descended down and managed a side-by-side. Then it was time for a downplane! Damn that was cool! Now I'm really thinking about building my own CRW rig. This sport will never stop to amaze me! Cool Memento Audere Semper 903

Sisters handicapped tandem @ Cross Keys
nicknitro71 replied to Scottyb's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I could not agree more. The way you deal with your handicaps makes who you truly are. Your sister set a memorable example. Post some pics somewhere, they could inspire some annoying whuffos and skudivers as well! Take care Memento Audere Semper 903 -

Can you guys update the full profile template? The title of jumpmaster does not apply anymore and the Coach one should be addded. Also, It would be cool to be able to post wingloading and # of cutaways. Cool Memento Audere Semper 903

Every few weeks or so it seems there is a need to either bitch about the AAD or the RSL. It's kind of the shit it's happening in the middle east. It has been there since I can remember and it will be there long after I will be gone. You have one good, you don't good too. There is tons of stuff writter on RSL from experts with stats backing it up. Memento Audere Semper 903

I jump a Viper 135. It does not open as the Cobalt does because the cross ports are "conventional", i.e. every rib has them. I was told that the openings are more consistent on the Viper. Mine opens fantastically at sub-terminal, terminal, and supra-terminal. I just cannot get it to open hard. The alpha and cobalts have a different trim than the viper but the overall foil is the same. The top skin of the cobalts and alphas also have 18 separate pieces vs. 9 on the vipers. This canopy has an amazing bottom-end and incredible flare power, much more than a stiletto of the same size. The front riser pressure is pretty light even though I am only loading it @ 1.25. IMHO this is one of the best 9 cell elliptical there is and it's very underestimated. It does fly a bit big. I also have a Viper 105 with 10 jumps on it that is sitting on my closet waiting for me to score more jumps... Memento Audere Semper 903

Given your experience I would not go any smaller than 150. At 1.4 I bet you'll like the Saber 2 a lot. Memento Audere Semper 903
