  1. The Sidewinders is no longer produced. I'll check into 2K. Thanks Memento Audere Semper 903
  2. Does anybody know a Full Face Camera Helmet? I just can't find one. Thanks Memento Audere Semper 903
  3. Yes I was sit flying for about 1500' (5k-3.5k) then I got belly down and pulled. The fabric looks very good. The harness and container is also a PC and as stated the reserve is like our modern gear, i.e. not chest-mounted. Memento Audere Semper 903
  4. The parachute and reserve and container and harness and the whole nine yards ware inspected by a master rigger. The system looks good and does not have many jumps. Memento Audere Semper 903
  5. Although I was trained on rounds I have never jumped a Para Commander until yesterday. Well, it was a 24' yellow Para Commander, one of the newer ones with the diper and the reserve on top it, not in front. I exited at 5K sit making sure I was right above the DZ. It was kind of hard to keep the sit due to the lose harness and all the weight on my back. I got belly down at 3500 and deployed at 3K at full terminal. The opening was nice and soft. I was very surprised about it. The PC has two toggles that pivots the chute with the softest pressure you can imagine. Although it has some foward speed, at the end of each pivot, reather than turn, the canopy gains some extra foward speed like a square but w/out the loss of altitude. As for the landing, I remebered my training, so about 20' above the ground I grabbed both rear rises and pull them down. I realesed them right before hitting the ground. The landing was relativly soft and I believe I could have stood it up but I did not try. On top of that I landed right where I wanted to. Overall I was quite impressed by this round. It makes a fun canopy for demostrations on light wind days. If you know anybody who is selling one (full newer system) please let me know. Memento Audere Semper 903
  6. Every year in Berkeley it rains more Nobel prices then any other University. Memento Audere Semper 903
  7. Politics and religion should be separated, period. “In god we trust” on our currency is unconstitutional as well as mentioning god in the anthem. Being patriotic has nothing to do with being religious or delusional for that matter. If you want to be controlled and brain washed go right ahead but don’t impose it to everybody like the US government is doing. Belief in god only exists because of fear of death and religions only exist to control people, nothing less, nothing more. By the way, 9/11 happened because of belief in god and religion in case you forgot and being christian is no better than being muslim. When you skydive you’d better put all your faith in yourself because in case something goes to shit there is no god to help you. Blue skies Memento Audere Semper 903
  8. Tempo 150. Again, the only new canopy (both, main and reserve) I will ever buy is a PISA one. Memento Audere Semper 903
  9. I got hosed. I'm jumping in the wrong DZ and went to the wrong WFFC! Memento Audere Semper 903
  10. I jump a Hornet 150 loaded 1.15 and I psycho pack it. I tuck the nose in and that's it. I get superb openings. I demo a Spectre 150 at Rantoul and although I liked the canopy it snivels forever. Paula warranted me about it but it still was more than I expected. The Hornet is definitely more high performance and will go further on a long spot. It turns faster too with-out much of the bank that characterizes the Spectre. Memento Audere Semper 903
  11. You must be kidding! Anyway, not all skydivers have a death wish. As a matter of fact, the really crazy ones you see in movies don't quite exist in the real world. Also the adrenaline crap does not last very long. Ultimately if you stay in the sport is because you like learning how to fly you body and the canopy. The best way to get into the sport is just going to a local DZ and browse around. As for BASE, get at least 500 skydive jumps and be prepared to get hurt or killed and make sure your family knows you are BASE jumping. Memento Audere Semper 903
  12. What about the Wings freefly handle? IMO it's the best of two worlds. Memento Audere Semper 903
  13. Nope for the simple reason when I need to reline I'd buy a new canopy. But If you want you can drop a line to PISA go right ahead they'll get back to you the same day unlike PD... Memento Audere Semper 903
  14. If you are a jumper you think about those scenerios every time you fly a commercial plane. I travel with my gear all the time. Got only one problem in London. The security guys kept asking me all sort of questions. I showed them the Cypress card, my log book, license and explained them that I would not let some asshole play basketball with my gear like they do with other luggages. Finally they let me go. It was thought few months after 9/11. I really did not show any attitute just stated my points. Memento Audere Semper 903
  15. I will never buy a new canopy from anybody but PISA. Their products are outstanding. The colored tabs are sweet. There are guys with thousands of jumps that still roll the tail when I'm finished packing. It's a little nice addition. PD and other manufactures gotta charge more for each canopy due to their overheads; nothing wrong with that but it is not my game. I have a mind of my own and I jump what I think is the best quality/cost product. Memento Audere Semper 903
  16. Good posts. Here is my take. 2000 and above: go for the main, hop and pop even if you have to bail out @ 14000. Remember that you do not know where you are. 500 and below: you got no choice, stay in the plane. 500-1000: If the plane can land safely, stay in, if it's a rough deal like a broken wing bail out and pull the silver. 1000-1400: I would go for the silver. 1400-2000: Two scenarios: If you have a AAD you must go for the silver, period. If no AAD I would go for the main only if is you have a conservative canopy with a reasonable wing load. I would not hop and pop a velocity loaded 2.4 at 1500! Few other things: before getting in the plane face the sun and extend one of your arms. Then point the other arm into the wind and memorize the angle: 0-360 (just one number). If you have to bail out you know the direction you have to land. If you can not find the drop zone by 1500 forget about it and find a nice landing area. Bottom line, be always prepare for the worst. 17. It's funny, I'm in the same boat. I jump a Hornet 150 and I'm very undecided if going elliptical or just down size what I'm jumping now. I'm getting a camera helmet soon and I do not want to deal with all the bad things associated with elliptical openings. I like the heatwave a lot but I jumped only few times and the openings seem fine but I have not made up my mind yet. Memento Audere Semper 903
  18. You throw up while getting stoned but not drunk! Holly shit you got the thing up side down! Memento Audere Semper 903
  19. I don't like drinking. OK I drink at times but I don't get drunk. Alcohol is a drug that does not do anything for me. If I'm in the vein, I'd rather get stoned, no hang overs to deal with and you might learn something about yourself and or the world. Drinking just shuts my brain down. I don't like that. If I do drugs I want to learn something not unlearn! That's why at Rantoul I was in bed at 10:00 and woke up at 6! Memento Audere Semper 903
  20. I demo both same size (120) . My exit weight is ~175 and to be honest I liked the heatwave better. I was able to land it better with longer swoops. But then again if you pay big bucks for a canopy you will never say that a less expensive one is better or as good. Memento Audere Semper 903
  21. Down a steep ski slope I can see it. Out of a flat runaway, no thanks. Memento Audere Semper 903
  22. Cancel the order and get a Heatwave. You'll save money too. Memento Audere Semper 903
  23. Psycho is the answer. I am an unusual packer. I take exraordinary care with the lines, I tight the risers together, but I psycho beg. I've tried several different packings with my Hornet; Pro, flat, nose in, out, half way, rolled...The most consistent, softer, most on-heading openings are done with Psycho packing with the nose tucked in. Memento Audere Semper 903
  24. It's so funny. I have been shopping around for my next rig and although money is not a issue I don't like paying more for an equivalent product. So after six months of research and demos this is what I am going to get as my next rig: Wings, Heatwave, Tempo, Cypress. Memento Audere Semper 903
