  1. 1.4 at 70 jumps? Holly crap! Memento Audere Semper 903
  2. Same problem here. The CR2330 could not be found anywhere. I tried Wallmart, RadioShack, Circuit City, CVS... Anyway, 23 is the diameter and 30 is the thickness. I got a 2335 and a 2325 from Radio Shack. The overall thickness is the same, 60, and they work. I wonder why they choose such an awkward size... Memento Audere Semper 903
  3. I was told they make it glow. Nice for night cutaways! By the way if this Vigil does what it says... Memento Audere Semper 903
  4. Nuclear Power Memento Audere Semper 903
  5. I would not do it. Motorcycle helmets (at least full face) are much havier, wider, and your downward view is very limited. Your head might also get stuck between the risers making turning it almost impossible. Probably there are some open face ones that could be usable. Memento Audere Semper 903
  6. Get all the facts. Read here: http://www.jumpshack.com/default.asp?CategoryID=TECH&PageID=velcro_is_obsolete&SortBy=TITLE_A Memento Audere Semper 903
  7. What bwilling says. If it's a newer model and the Velcro is in good condition go right ahead. As for the RSL, it's BS too. I have a dolphin and FF all the time with the RSL always connected. It's unbelievable the amount of BS people say about dolphins. Do you know the guy who designed it? Memento Audere Semper 903
  8. Free falling is not just falling per se. You fly your body. Although it is usually no longer than 60-70 seconds/skydive. If it is fly time you want you got three options: -CRW -Paragliding -Hang-gliding I tried paragliding and did not get hooked. I am a hang glider pilot thought and I love it. IMM hang-gliding it is the purest form of flying and it is safer than paragliding. Try all of them and see. Memento Audere Semper 903
  9. Do you guys have the e-mail of some riggers who can do the mod? Thanks Memento Audere Semper 903
  10. As Hooknswoop said. Vipers and Alphas are not made anymore. Although the label says otherwise they were made by Atair. The Cobalt is their progeny. Memento Audere Semper 903
  11. I had a similar experience. I went from a Hornet 150 (really good canopy) to a Viper 135. The latter has a flatter glide despite the higher wing loading. Demo as many canopies as you can! Memento Audere Semper 903
  12. Demo a Sabre 2 135. It is not as radical as the Stiletto and it should give you more glide than your Spectre. Memento Audere Semper 903
  13. Initial cost: ~$900 Additional costs: batteries: let's say a new set every two years: 79X5=$395 two 4 year checks: 160X2=$320 grand total=900+395+320=1615 1615/12years=~135 135/12months=$11.2 11.2/30 days=.37 Is your life worth at least $ .37 a day? If yes the Cypress is for you. Memento Audere Semper 903
  14. Bastard! Memento Audere Semper 903
  15. I used to jump a hornet 150 at 1.1. Great canopy! it opened great, lots of flare and fast on toggles. It was a bit sloppy on front risers though. Too bad PISA joint forces with arodyne! The colored tabs for pro packing are a great idea. I'm wonder why others like PD and precision don't put them on their canopies. Memento Audere Semper 903
  16. What do you mean by it? Atair has been back! Before they would market canopies under different labels like Winchester technology and others now it's all Atair. At any rate, the Viper, IMHO, is one of the best flying canopies ever designed. Memento Audere Semper 903
  17. I'm with you on that one. If we are just talking about a sealed pot filled with air then the following is always true: As you increase the temperature, the volume stays the same and the pressure increases. Density and Pressure are not the same thing though. When we are dealing with the atmosphere, dense air corresponds to a rapid change of pressure with height. The opposite is true for less dense air. Also, not only elevation and temperature infuence air density. Think of a hot day at the north pole and a hot day at the equator both with equal pressure and equal temperature. Does the air have the same density? Proplably not due to different layers of upper air with different densities. Remember that air pressure is the sum of all the layers above the point of mesurament. So you can have the same temp with the same pressure but different densities. To finish when it comes to canopy flying all you are ultimately interested is air density, i.e. the denser the more lift you have. Memento Audere Semper 903
  18. Did not I say the same? On a hot humid day there is LESS atmospheric pressure so less air per square feet (i.e. molecules are further apart) than in a dry day when the pressure is high. Less air means less lift. Memento Audere Semper 903
  19. It's not the weight of the chute. It has to do with air density and water vapor. Taken to the extreem think about flying your canapy in the water! Memento Audere Semper 903
  20. Just the Velocity L bracket. When I mean sick out I ment laterally. All the .5s I've seen are narrower. Any other suggestion for future refereances? Thanks Memento Audere Semper 903
  21. Yestarday after filming a 3 way I lost my .45 probably due to a riser snap. I jump a Canon Optura sidemounted on a velocity. The lens snapped right at the camera thread mount. I also lost the UV and the 34-37 adapter. What I've learnt: - The .45 stick out too much on my particular setting. I'm getting a .5 next time. - Use tape or a condom or both. -Shit happens -I suck at shooting... Memento Audere Semper 903
  22. I have one. So far so good. I'm still a rokie though. Memento Audere Semper 903

  24. Second to what everybody said. Skydiving is more un-biased and unsually gives more details. Memento Audere Semper 903
  25. Man, that's funny! Buy you said the helmet got out at 11,000 but I see a canopy inflating right when the helmet took off. Also, where's the landing? Memento Audere Semper 903
