  1. Has anyone noticed the first guy head-down is flipping off with his left hand? Is this a sign of the new board saying buy to the old members? Memento Audere Semper 903
  2. Big ass canopy that will withstand both jumper'd weight is a must. Don't try it with your tiny elliptical! Gotta be a super fast H&P from no lower than 4K to be safe. PM if you want to know how's done out a 182. Memento Audere Semper 903
  3. Do a search. This topic has been covered zillion of times. Memento Audere Semper 903
  4. If you do it send back a money order or a cashier check not a personal one. Also you MUST wait until the check is cleared. Memento Audere Semper 903
  5. Same here. I use a piece of briddle to connect the canopy to the bag. Memento Audere Semper 903
  6. It's now integrated in my web site skydiving page. Thanks! Memento Audere Semper 903
  7. Can I steel it from ya? I would love a shirt with that phrase! Good job Memento Audere Semper 903
  8. I don't know but there are many variables that might have given me that feeling. 7 vs. 9, less tapered, more tapered, line trim, nose... That's the canopy every student should get! Memento Audere Semper 903
  9. I demo a Spectre 150 @ Rantoul. Holly crap if it snivels! Great canopy. It flew "bigger" than the hornet 150 I was jumping at the time. On the second jump I, on purpuse, made a very, very bad trash pack and the thing just opened dandy! If I get a birdman suit that is the canopy I want to have. Memento Audere Semper 903
  10. IMO you had good and bad points in your reply. At this point in time you only need 100 jumps and a C to become a Coach. You double that and you can be an AFF I. So according to you the majority of coaches and AFF Is should not be jumping, giving advices, or for that matter talking to students at all. If a student does not get that the remark about the C Cobalt 65 is a joke, with all the respect to Larry, the student should read and understand more about gear and wing-loading and ask his/her instructors/S&Ts not unknowns online including myself. The point of my remark was that this is not the right place to gather such as info. Larry is jumping at Finger Lakes that is a great DZ with great people and instructors. There, they are very, very canopy size conservative, so if Larry decides to continue to jump there, things are they are not going to put him under a crazy canopy. Memento Audere Semper 903
  11. First I'm glad you made it in one piece. I have few questions if you don't mind. Who makes your reserve? I'm too lazy to do a search. I've never heard it here in the states. What is your wing loading? Why did you pull sub-terminal @ 5K? You had all the time to wait 10 sec. That might have contributed to the mal. Also, what size PC you have? Memento Audere Semper 903
  12. I'm a coach so for as long as you signed off to jump on your own we're in business. We can make some coach jumps together. It'll be fun! Take care Memento Audere Semper 903
  13. With all the respect I feel that "at times" you guys are over-regulating the forum. A bit of sarcasm, as far as I know, is not a killer. I think life is too short to be too serious. But then again I'm on the other side of the fence and I'll obey at the orders because I respect the time and effort you guys put to maintain this. Memento Audere Semper 903
  14. By the way I too jump at Fingerlakes at times. They are very nice people there an their Queen's sweet! They'll guide you in the right direction when it comes to canopy selection. I know that virtually all the jumpers and instructors there are very conservative when it comes to canopy size, and that is a good thing. Talk to Peter and Fritz or any of the other instructors. In the spring I make few jumps with ya! Memento Audere Semper 903
  15. And then they bitch about low jumpers wanting to downsize Memento Audere Semper 903
  16. A Comp Cobalt 65 should do the trick Memento Audere Semper 903
  17. What you are implying is that the Dolphin is not safe. I disagree. Also in few hundred of jumps he might want to downsize hence a new container. My view is that the first rig should be something used or cheep new but still reliable like the Dolphin... Just my .02 Memento Audere Semper 903
  18. I own a Dolphin D-1 with a Tempo 150 and a Viper 135. My first canopy on that rig was a Hornet 150 that is a great canopy, period. There is only one problem with the Dolphin, it's ugly as hell. I don't buy the fact that is not FF friendly. Maybe older ones. I took my rig in any position and everything stayed where it is supposed to be. My next container is going to be a Wings though just because I like the way it looks and their sizes fit my next choice better than any other rig. Memento Audere Semper 903
  19. Good point Dan. I did have a dog as training paraglider. Have you ever tried hang gliding? Nick Memento Audere Semper 903
  20. I am no paragliding expert but few years back I took some lessons and did not like it. I understand that those canopies are designed to soar but it was boring flying them coming from SD. Then I took some hang-gliding lessons and I got hooked. Few months later I bought an hang-gliger! I know HGs are combersome but once you are flying them all the weight and size dissapear. As for paragliding I like the idea of the portability but it is just plain boring flying for me. Nonetheless you should give a try (to both!) Cool Memento Audere Semper 903
  21. I got married a month ago too! Memento Audere Semper 903
  22. Glen, With a last name like yours you should have bought a Canon! Sorry for all the trouble. I like Canon products the best and overall have better quality/price ratio than Sony. Memento Audere Semper 903
  23. Second to that, Patric de Gayardon, especially in Europe. Memento Audere Semper 903
