  1. Or perhaps a well-hung parliament? http://www.smarta.com/blog/2010/4/ann-summers-anticipates-a-'well-hung'-parliament You're not the first to think of that! Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  2. Why? All that saber-rattling the Norwegians are doing making you nervous? No because once you lose a capability, there is a good chance that you can't get it back. From the old saying "its better to ask for forgiveness than permission" I think that applies. It much easier to be apologetic than to suddenly have the world change and be in the position that you simply can't acquire something you used to have. 3. Can you expand on the Euro? Personally I don't like the idea of losing control of our currency, but I do travel alot as part of business and it would be convenient to have a single currency. I missed the 2nd debate but we were talking about it in the office and I must admit I also feel very strongly about our Nukes. I personally believe that we should have a nuclear capability and that it should actually be independent of the US. Our generation doesn't need them but future ones might. When viewed on a timescale of 20-50 years I don't believe that we can "trust" the US. GWB was a looney and I don't think it would take many of his type in power before the UK and US were on opposite sides of the fence, similarly the EU could shift direction in that timescale and become a threat. I don't think that China, India etc are a nuclear threat to the UK. I do worry that a hung parliament might damage the economy - it shouldn't but my gut says it will hit the stock markets and the pound. 4. Well for those who are following the UK elections (whether you are able to vote or not) who would you choose and why? -- My choice, the monster raving looneys cause I like their manifesto! Seriously though I can't make up my mind between the tories and the lib dems. I agreed with the Lib dems over Iraq, their business policies suck, but they are generally more "honest". The tory political leadership tend to blow with the wind but in general their policies make sense. I fundamentally disagree with about 90% of what labour believes so they are not an option. 5. Have you followed Skyrads posts? I think that YOU are mistaken here. His post was tongue in cheek/shit stirring whatever you want to call it. It is fantastic how many people fell for it hook, line and sinker! Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

  7. 802.11 is an IEEE standard that is the protocol. In the US your regulations are FCC Part 15, in Europe our equivalent is EN300-440, I don't know about Israel. FCC regulations are far more lax than European requirements. I wouldn't be surprised if the iPad doesn't meet European EMC or Radio regulations and that could be the basis. I can't be bothered to refer to FCC Part 15 and EN300-440 to confirm but it is quite likely that you are allowed 2 or 3 times more power than that allowed in Europe (i.e 2 or 3 watts versus 1watt). He's not in the USofA (like many of us) the motorways where he is are likely far less populated, than you are thinking, Correct - in the UK it is fairly "normal" to average 80 to 90 MPH on the motorway, admittedly this is clock speed not true speed as I guess most vehicles over-estimate your speed by about 5%. I don't normally speed not because of police but because some time ago I was doing circa 100 and some idiot foreign truck pulled into the fast lane at about 40, before I could react I was past him and I was just very lucky that there was room to get through. Since then I figure that the couple of minutes you save doing 75+ isn't worth the increased danger. Yesterday was an exception, I was tired of riding as I had already done 3 hours on the bike and I just wanted to get home before it got dark and I could see rain in the distance which I wanted to beat. I would be lying to say it wasn't a rush when I realised just how quick I had been going. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

I have done just on 500 miles on the bike in the last 2 days and I am knackered - I'm not used to hammering down the motorway anymore. On the bright side I set a new personal record (inadvertently) sitting and cruising in the fast lane 6pm Oxford 40 miles, 6:05 Oxford 30miles Since I normally try and stick to the speed limit averaging 120MPh over 10 miles probably won't happen again just shows how "sweet" my bike is that you don't notice the speed. 11. Another report for the incident thread...... I was sooo tempted to post it there. 12. frankly, I find that stuff to be just as much a pile of crap as organized religion All humans have "beliefs" that help to keep them sane. There are posters here who rabidly defend Christianity and just as many who will blindly defend their "beliefs" with exactly the same religious fervor. VERY few people are honestly prepared to step back and review their views with a critical eye and be prepared to change/modify them according to new facts. On the other hand I am not sure that all people are emotionally strong enough to withstand the consequences of changing their beliefs, and people should bear this in mind. The best example that comes to mind is a very religious person who I knew, who upon coming to their own realization that God did not exist and operate in the manner he had believed for 30+ years, became very emotionally unstable and committed suicide within 2 or 3 years of changing his belief. His story haunts me and no matter how strongly I believe someone is wrong in their views I won't try and change them. I would rather a friend with a "crutch" than no friend at all. 14. Yesterday I experienced something that hasn't happened since I was a teenager - I pretty much developed an instant crush on someone. I was on business in Paris and the exit gates from the RER railway at the airport started rejecting peoples tickets at random but about 50% of the time. Anyway I asked this woman if she knew where to get help but she was as stuck as I was (she was on holiday). Various people were jumping the barriers - so I helped her get her stuff over and then off we went. We both had a couple of hours before our flights so we ended up having a drink and chatting. I spent the rest of the evening fantasizing - till I got home and wife wiped the smile off my face All I can say is from the way I felt and how we got on I am 100% happy that she lives 1/2 way across the world and I don't have her contact details! 17. Hi Ron, Not to be awkward but have you ever heard of an amputee being healed in the entire history of the Christian church? I am not asking why God doesn't always heal. Regards, Nigel No, never. Thank you for the reply I really appreciate your candidness. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  18. Check this out. http://www.equip.org/articles/does-god-always-heal Hi Ron, Not to be awkward but have you ever heard of an amputee being healed in the entire history of the Christian church? 19. So riddle me this. Why were the biblical generation "good enough" to be shown such miracles and we are not? If we are good enough why are amputees not on the menu? As I said I stumbled on the website, I didn't go looking for it. I don't know if his claim that no amputee has ever been healed is true - but I have heard of raising from the dead, blind, deaf etc but NEVER an amputee. Could it just be that it is the one area that is not open to medical mistakes or freaks of nature, or is God simply not powerful enough to regrow limbs? Alternatively maybe a "few" are good enough to be shown miracles so that they might be saved. I've heard all the stories about "loving father" and discipline etc, but to me the analogy is more like an absent father who disowns his child cause he doesn't search hard enough for the father who was deliberately hiding from his kid - I think most people would find that behavior repugnant. 20. I was fixing our network and to check for connectivity I was typing in random searches to check it. I got through help, hello and tried a new one "why". Result a very interesting website about 1/2 way down the page that kept me reading for a while. http://whywontgodhealamputees.com/ Discuss
  21. Very unlikely distribution, statistically speaking. Right Orange? 377 um, as far as real life pavement (or sidewalks in the US, but i understand nigel
  22. Could this be a UK based Windows 7 update quirk - cause we have had the identical problem on a Windows 7 PC since the middle of last week! It is also wirelessly connected. My daughter is going nuts without the internet Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  23. Indeed Orange. I mean when these folks walk down a sidewalk soiled by dog poop, do they stop and complain about every pile? It's so much easier to just keep walking and avoid the messy spots. As long as there is more bare concrete than poop, it's "mostly good". 377 you posted this and then promptly stepped in a pile of shit - maybe you weren't looking where you were going. Second the problem is that using your analogy there is a mile of crap followed by 2 foot of clean pavement! Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
