I’ve been thinking more about your comment about not left/right. I’m really torn as I think this is the right approach to deescalate the political tensions, and it involves swallowing any concept of “justice”. Part of me feels that people like Trump etc should be held accountable for inciting violence and excusing it. There appears to be more appetite on the left to hold everyone accountable, while the right seems to claim victimhood and make excuses more. It’s probably a case of not needing to force people to see that they are wrong, and that sometimes for the sake of peace we have to ignore our feelings of injustice.

I saw an interesting post yesterday about Charlie and social media algorithms. Someone was talking to their friend about him and she really liked Charlie and couldn’t understand why the friend hated him. During the discussion it came out that the one who liked him and only ever had good positive videos and interviews in her feed over the years, videos the person who didn’t like him had never seen. Likewise the person who liked him was horrified when she saw the other side of Charlie. It goes to show what an echo chamber social media is.

I hate the glorification of violence on social media. I remember back during the gulf war when there was the outrage over the beheading videos and yet we had the same people posting videos of people being killed by the allied forces. I have no desire to watch videos of anyone being killed, whether it’s a right wing extremist or a Russian soldier being hunted by a drone.

It always takes courage to admit you’ve changed your mind, especially on the internet. I’d suggest your next data gathering experiment might be objectively looking at who uses violent rhetoric and inciting violence.

Crap dataset when Jan 6 isn’t right leaning or shown. It’s pretty clear that you’ve made up your mind and are going to massage the data to fit your beliefs. It’s also interesting you say silence is violence, and yet you’ve blown off multiple attempts to get you to decry something that happened 40 days ago. You want to play with datasets why don’t you HONESTLY tally up left/right wing politicians rhetoric on promoting violence? Trump is one of the worst.

I’ve never thought too deeply about it, and it may be like saying 5G causes cancer :) But there does appear to be a correlation. Porn is purely sexual, versus more liberal and relaxed view that a body can be beautiful and sensual. I would say it is that uptight religious beliefs are the cause, but the Amish seem like a pretty chill bunch.

I genuinely believe the US would be a less violent place with more boobies on TV. Countries that don’t allow boobies always seem to be full of angry violent men.
