Yes total bloodbath. Temu Trump went from being a serious contender to take over as PM to losing the seat he’s held for 24 years.
-
We honestly need a dedicated MAGA maths thread. Did you see the Fentanyl figures from Bondy? 258 Million American lives saved in the last 100 days - from a grand total of 22 million pills.

https://www.chickennation.com/voting/ An interesting little cartoon that explains the preferential voting system here.

Yes, it’s some kind of running joke. Think it’s over in Queensland where they are slightly nuts. But often polling stations are at surf clubs.

Election day and I’m off to vote in my budgie smugglers.

https://youtu.be/QgE8Hp9hs4M?si=n7dJDhm9QMNIZikH If you’re interested he posted a follow up video on where/how he got it wrong. The short form is: 1. A good plan != good execution 2. Trump picks and chooses who he listens to and cherry picks the parts he likes. 3. Some analysis of the current ‘evolving’ plan, but warning that Trump is king and shifts alliances frequently so basically who knows what’s next. Since the original video I’ve been following this guy and quite like his content (it’s not purely US focused). Maybe he’s full of shit, and just presents in a way that fools me - I don’t always agree with him, but think generally his theories are plausible.

The interview that Bill is referring to is worth watching in full. Jesus Christ I laughed at the MS-13 tattoo part! How someone that gullible got elected I don’t know.

I just read an article about the military parade being planned for Trump’s birthday. 6500 troops, tanks, helicopters and the golden nights parachute team! I’m guessing being a military team they don’t have any option but to go?

https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/05/loyalty-day-and-law-day-u-s-a-2025/ Loyalty day? The onion has to change its tack on satire. Forget the wild stories, a great onion headline would be “Trump acknowledges that he doesn’t know as much about economics as the experts “

You just don’t get it Jerry! You’ve got to learn MAGA maths, to understand the winning. All the libs denying that tariffs are working and that inflation is down? If you use MAGA maths you’ll see the true genius of Trump! Eggs are down 93%! You see previously under Biden you could buy 30 eggs for $10, now you can buy 2 eggs for the same price. (30-2)/30 x 100 = 93.333 Here’s the link where Trump explains how it works https://apnews.com/article/trump-economy-tariffs-gdp-7494825851dcef94ec81475124f9326f

The US news media has been calling Trump out as a liar for claiming he’s made 200 odd tariff deals, with the late night hosts mocking him that there aren’t that many countries. The problem is, he’s likely telling the truth … A couple of Australian companies (not industries) have been doing well on the stock market because they negotiated exemptions from the tariffs. What it cost them to get the exemptions is a whole different question.

Agreed. It’s also seemed rather quaint to think that Uncle BoBo could effectively stand up to trained military personnel with the weapons they have available.

It was meant to be a tongue in cheek, light hearted rib of the Canadians here with Trump telling them to vote for him :) “Elect the man who has the strength and wisdom to cut your taxes in half, increase your military power, for free, to the highest level in the World, have your Car, Steel, Aluminum, Lumber, Energy, and all other businesses, QUADRUPLE in size, WITH ZERO TARIFFS OR TAXES, if Canada becomes the cherished 51st. State of the United States of America,” Trump wrote Monday.

https://thehill.com/policy/defense/5260686-us-troops-detain-search-migrants-new-mexico/ I’ve seen a couple of interesting opinion pieces on this. What I’ve been wondering lately is with the second amendment, what would the threshold of a tyrannical government be? I’ll admit that I don’t really see the second amendment as a viable option as things tend to get taken away bit by bit. So with the boiled frog analogy, you’re cooked by the time you notice it. Also, it’s likely that more radical groups take action first and are branded terror groups and dealt with.

https://wegotthiscovered.com/politics/trump-says-he-was-meant-to-be-the-leader-of-canada-because-the-country-makes-no-sense-otherwise/ Ken did you do the right thing and vote for Trump? Or did you waste your vote on an independent?

https://www.reddit.com/r/politicsinthewild/s/Y1vLAa1H9X Having grown up in an evangelical cult, it blows my mind that this is in the Whitehouse! I guess it explains Cofefe, and Hamberder and the other gargled rubbish out of Trumps mouth… he’s speaking in tongues

It’s Trumpistan now. Windsor can breathe a sigh of relief because you won’t have future elections. You can look forward to Eric or Don Jnr as your next king:)

https://youtu.be/xOqKatzjfVo?si=rg_rmdvy0X9d2Orb Midas Touch have sensationalised the headline. But it’s an interesting and fairly accurate summary of the current situation and its impact on the elections. He’s a bit off on the polling as it’s looking like we will have a minority government and it’s not clear whether Albanesy or Temu Trump will win. Among young men in particular Temu Trump is very popular and for the first time younger voters (under 40g out number older voters.

Interesting video. I don’t know who this woman is, but from your post comment I’m assuming she is/was pro Trump previously?

Crazy! Although… Long time ago I visited a US biological warfare “research” lab. I was struck by the scale of the facility and asked our host. His answer was along the lines of “to do that kind of research properly, you’ve got to take it to production scaling.” It makes sense, but left me wondering 2 things, did the US “really” dispose of whatever they were doing, and secondly, how many facilities that the US attacked in foreign countries were “research” facilities. I believe Porton Downs in the UK is similar - I’ve always been bothered by the hypocrisy.

I think we are talking at cross purposes. Your original statement about bringing his wife into meetings CAN be interpreted in the Andrew Tate sense of “women belong in the kitchen” - I’m not suggesting that you said that or meant it like that. I took Wendy’s reply to be in that context and I’d be surprised if she did either, but was highlighting a point that a wife can provide valuable input. I also agree that IF a partner is going to be providing said input the relevant contractual and security clearances should be in place.

“ The US set new duties as high as 3,521% on solar imports from four Southeast Asian countries, delivering a win for domestic manufacturers while intensifying headwinds already threatening the country’s renewable power development. The duties announced Monday are the culmination of a yearlong trade probe that found solar manufacturers in Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand were unfairly benefiting from government subsidies and selling exports to the US at rates lower than the cost of production. The investigation was sought by domestic solar manufacturers and initiated under former President Joe Biden. While the duties are set to benefit domestic manufacturers, they also will pinch US renewable developers that have long relied on inexpensive foreign supplies, heightening uncertainty for a sector whipsawed by political and policy changes in Washington.” This is an extract from a Bloomberg article. Insane tariff levels! https://archive.is/2025.04.22-062719/https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-04-21/us-imposes-new-duties-on-solar-imports-from-southeast-asia

Proof of citizen in case ICE pick her up by mistake?

Wendy raises an interesting point. Sometimes couples make a great team and work extremely well together. Although in the Trump admin your point stands. There’s a distinct possibility that in this particular case she’s got more brains than him and it works in everyone’s favour :) If you can’t have a competent white man in charge, I guess the next best thing is an incompetent white man with a wife to help him.
