Not being a Tesla/space x follower, the Thai incident is the first time I noticed Musk, I’ve never liked him. I won’t deny he is good at making money, but dunning-Kruger and life experience tells me that someone who claims to be genius level at every aspect of physics and engineering is full of BS.

https://electrek.co/2025/03/13/elon-musk-is-giving-trump-another-100-million-just-after-the-president-did-an-ad-for-tesla/ We are so lucky that Biden/Harris didn’t win! Wonder if things like this give Windsor pause for thought?

Yeah, and it’s s crappy attitude of putting likes over the feelings of others.
-
Animal cruelty and it’s both of the people involved. There’s a strong culture of respecting wildlife and leaving it be.
-
They are both facing animal cruelty charges. But Aussie takes a hardline on immigration. That only fans woman that came to do shows/ take virginity of lots of school leavers had her visa pulled and was deported (working on a tourist visa). At the moment being an influencer in Aus, you are in a vilified demographic and won’t get mercy, American on top certainly doesn’t help.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-03-13/us-influencer-wombat-video-visa-under-review/105047538 A young influencer decided to take a baby wombat from its mother for her instagram. There’s been a huge outcry, but my favourite comment was from our Prime Minister. He said wombat’s are gentle creatures and that she should take a baby crocodile from its mother instead

It’s more the attitude that the rest of the west doesn’t have the freedom.

Yet you scream about dei? Do you not understand what dei is? Bias and prejudice are inherent in people, it’s almost biologically wired. It takes effort and education to override those instincts. The talking heads on the right would have you believe that simply being black or female means you’re incompetent and less than a white male. Your beliefs leak through in your posts and to quote Wendy “bullshit”.

https://www.theguardian.com/books/2013/apr/04/peoples-car-bernhard-rieger-review It’s insane the parallels between Germany’s history and current day US.

I agree with the sentiment expressed by everyone that snarky comments and labelling people is unhelpful. Biguns point about black and white thinking (psychology term, not race) is bad. The problem with your posts is that Trump/Musk can do anything and you shrug it off as “just …” and go onto to rationalise it is for the greater good, while making sure to mention that it’s better than Biden etc. I’m not sure how any American can support people who do nazi salutes, car sales from the Whitehouse, deliberate lies and deception, celebrate the pain of immigrants and the disadvantaged. the thread about white power in the US has many examples of where this administration has stepped well past the line of racist behaviour. If you honestly believe sexism and racism is bad, how come you’re not as vocal about this administration covering/removing the names of non white and female people who lost their lives fighting for your country? I forget the agency (NSA or CIA). A vast number of American citizens speak Spanish, yet it’s not racially driven that this administration has declared English the official language and removed Spanish language versions of important government websites? I’m sorry but your posts show no evidence that you’re against racism and sexism.

Yeah, absolute dickhead and alarm bells are going off all over civil and human rights watch organisations about the loss of freedom of speech in the US. Honestly, it irks me the arrogance and ignorance of everyone who claims that America is the beacon of freedom and democracy.

https://youtu.be/gEinZzXFcXM?si=J-Z-cEuT4q8FGWNE Rep John Larson on Elon Musk and Trump. Don’t know who he is, but this is off Fox and wow is he passionate.

Once upon a time that would have been an Onion post

Who’s inspired to buy a swasticar? I’d pay to see Brent’s reaction to this :)

Maybe Brent was onto something;)

Well the US is in its way to being a theocracy. Surprised they aren’t using thoughts and prayers, or Jesus parables of investing wisely
-
Should say Trump’s second term ends … At this point there is enough insanity that the calls for a 3rd term or other “legal” extension aren’t impossible. At this point I’m hoping he chokes on a happy meal toy and we can get some sanity back in the US.

What’s wrong with his comment? As far as being unidentified, when it comes to skydiving advice credibility is important. But in SC which is basically a bunch of us shooting the breeze and airing opinions I’ve got no problem. If you don’t remember the incident with phillykev, SC vindictive people can ruin your life.

What are the implications? I’ve seen a few news articles but nothing explained the logic behind it or the risks

I realise they are different projects and objectives, but I think it’s great that the French/Europeans successfully launched the Ariane 6 rocket and a spy satellite, the same day that starship failed again. Also having worked with and for Americans I think they often overlook cultural differences. Americans love to boast and celebrate, a lot of other cultures just quietly get on and do the work (used to drive my boss mad that our team weren’t all ra ra ra over successes)

Exactly, self policing politicians is a disaster. Probably the one good thing an initiative like DOGE could achieve (I’m not on crack, not suggesting Musk is the one).

One of the things all us old farts forget is the 9/11 was 24 years ago. To most people under 40 that is a history lesson, not a life experience. A 30 year old was 6 years old at 9/11 they sure as hell don’t remember how everyone came together in support of the US.

Effective != efficient. Effective government is never going to be as efficient as a private enterprise as they have different objectives. Unfortunately the foxes are guarding the chicken run. The first place to start would be term limits for all politicians, aligning their benefit packages with those of other public servants, getting rid of big business in political donations and limiting their ability for insider trading. One of the problems with the 4 year election cycle is that large scale changes can take years. This incentivises politicians to implement quick fixes, and also muddies the waters. The administration often gets the blame or credit for actions from a prior administration.

I once bought Andy (popsjumper) a jar of marmite, as it’s one of the few things you don’t see in the US. Poor guy tried a teaspoon full straight out the jar :) Aussies get very upset when told Vegemite is inferior.
