I’m half way across the world and luckily in one of the most remote cities (Perth). I’ve never been a one of the prepar type people, but my kids and I are in the process of buying a couple of hundred acres down south. Sadly I can see the time coming where you need to be able to be largely self sufficient and am lucky enough to have the resources and location to do it. On the plus side if the world returns to sanity we will have a lovely property for hunting and having fun.

I hope I am. It’s not something I enjoy seeing happening.

Unfortunately I think it’s too late for the US and you won’t recover from this. Both sides of the isle and the judiciary dropped the ball many years ago. Other than Bernie and AOC (possibly Waltz), there are no visible leaders actively promoting a viable alternative and drawing attention to the state of things and offering to fight. So the constitution is a meaningless pierce of paper now. I hope I’m proven wrong

One thing Trump has done has to unite the world against him (and sadly the US is largely lumped in with him) and raise nationalism in other countries. I don’t particularly like our attitude towards social media here, but as soon as I’ve got Musk and Co pushing their agenda it’s a firm hell no!

My grandfather was the head of an intelligence agency back in the day (Rhodesia), and I know that humanitarian operations were frequently a cover for intelligence gathering. It’s also pretty well known/rumoured that USAID, Voice of America and similar are used by the US government/CIA to infuence foreign governments and spy. With how close to Russia Elon and Trump are I wonder how much of this overt interference in those areas are under the direction of Russia? I genuinely believe the US has sleep walked into a situation where a foreign power has covertly taken/taking control without military force.

They are both facing animal cruelty charges. But Aussie takes a hardline on immigration. That only fans woman that came to do shows/ take virginity of lots of school leavers had her visa pulled and was deported (working on a tourist visa). I agree with the sentiment expressed by everyone that snarky comments and labelling people is unhelpful. Biguns point about black and white thinking (psychology term, not race) is bad. The problem with your posts is that Trump/Musk can do anything and you shrug it off as “just …” and go onto to rationalise it is for the greater good, while making sure to mention that it’s better than Biden etc. I’m not sure how any American can support people who do nazi salutes, car sales from the Whitehouse, deliberate lies and deception, celebrate the pain of immigrants and the disadvantaged. the thread about white power in the US has many examples of where this administration has stepped well past the line of racist behaviour. If you honestly believe sexism and racism is bad, how come you’re not as vocal about this administration covering/removing the names of non white and female people who lost their lives fighting for your country? I forget the agency (NSA or CIA). A vast number of American citizens speak Spanish, yet it’s not racially driven that this administration has declared English the official language and removed Spanish language versions of important government websites? Yeah, absolute dickhead and alarm bells are going off all over civil and human rights watch organisations about the loss of freedom of speech in the US. Honestly, it irks me the arrogance and ignorance of everyone who claims that America is the beacon of freedom and democracy.
