Amazon should chime in cause she trained guys for this stuff. I met a skydiver, very good jumper, who during his skydiving carrer had to do an ejection over water at his day job, Navy pilot. With all his jump experience and military training he damned near drowned. He said it was a very humbling experience. There used to be fatalities in lake jumps when skydivers would cut away or slip out of their harnesses thinking they were 10 or 20 feet above the water and they were actually hundreds of feet up. Its VERY hard to judge height above open water. Water landings in perfect warm weather daytime conditions are tricky. In worse conditions they can be extremely hazardous. Hey G, susnpots are coming back. Fire up that HF rig. 377 Good info - hope Aamazon comes and gives us a lecture ... rig is on every night on 40. (cw) Im headed to that url I posted to do some reading ... good stuff there. Pleasant night after a 60 mph windy day . set a new low pressure mark here .

Interesting material. I did more searches and discovered there are some posts here at Dropzone re- water impacts and even a small thread on water landing(s), should anyone wish to search. Nothing technical but a few posted comments were interesting and give context. Here's one search url: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=search_results&search_forum=all&search_string=water%20landings&sb=score&mh=25 So a few of us got busy doing actual calculations. Turns out angle of entry and area of impact make a large difference in terms of water impacts, for any drop over 300ft. Terminal at 10k is another matter entirely but the same principles apply... Cooper could not have survived any freefall drop over 500 ft at Terminal. That is a given regardless of water or mud or farm field or Death woods rock terrain .... But from this discourse an entirely new dynamic has surfaced ... landing in water and being dragged in water ... turns out rounds will sink you! Oooops. Once the sinking starts if you dont cut out fast its over! But we know Cooper never landed IN the Columbia. Ckret said so. It's all in a day's work. Ho humm. Here's today's mild Fall weather along the drop zone. Convective cells and all ...

Well, probably not. I will defer to you on this one. But when you copy over the entire post with our website address... BTW: Are we allowed to engage in name-calling and post up junk from YouTube that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the thread or the DB Cooper case? Just asking... (I removed the link. Maybe you should do the same.) you have me confused with someone else. I am georger. I have never posted a video link here - ever. I see 377 is back, or dropped in. Talk to him! And on that note . . . “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”

Are you allowed to advertise and promote your commercial ventures here ....... just saying? Can I advertise free here? Just asking?

As usual, your responses have absolutely no substance. If you are going to call foul on something, it's expected you actually PRESENT A CASE to support your viewpoint. Otherwise, you have no case. If you keep a goldfish in the dark, it will eventually turn white [edit] I forgot the period. Here it is:, " . "

So YOU say. That's your personal opinion, of course. In reality, we have a fair amount of evidence and much of it comes from people who are still alive and can actually be contacted or interviewed. This makes the situation regarding KC a lot more solid than say...Gossett or Weber...neither of whom can even be placed in the same state(s) at the actual time of the hijacking, and where many of the so-called witnesses are dead. I remind you that History Channel execs checked out our story for at least two months before they made a decision whether to go with Christiansen or William Gossett. One thing I've noticed about you, Georger: You like to say we have 'nothing' a lot...but you avoid answering some of the claims we've actually made, such as when I posted up that 'Top 12 Reasons KC Could Be The Hijacker'. You kind of side-stepped that one. I can list them for you again if you want, just so you won't have go back and search them out. (If you want to try answering them, that is.) The History Channel concluded that the Gossett claim had little or no merit and that the Christiansen story was worth a look. They did give a brief look at Weber for DB, but rejected that theory as well. One of the reasons they rejected Gossett was because of Galen Cook's ridiculous 'Janet-Saw-A-Guy-on-The-Airstairs-From-9,000-feet' story. And also because either the witnesses were dead or just other family members. "I remind you that History Channel execs checked out our story for at least two months before they made a decision whether to go with Christiansen or William Gossett. " Funny. Cheap bastards. Keep the bluebird chirping and the buffalo fed.

well, you started out with nothing and still have most of it left. Given the gravity of the situation you should start over, at least three more times.

More great programming from the cult series on The History Channel to be shown over the winter: While scanning the evening offerings on the boob tube I noticed that the History channel is running a whole series of programs to advance America’s historical literacy. The program? –The Holy Grail in America. The program will examine “evidence” that the Knights Templar came to America in 1362 and hid the Holy Grail. "Examine evidence?" - what evidence? More shit you can slim your life with from on the socalled History Channel this Fall is: – The Seven Deadly Sins, - The Naked Archeologist, - UFO’s of the Bible (WTF), - Nostradomus. - Mayan prophesies - Ancient Serial Murders - and some moronic D. B. Cooper fiction. Never mind, this type of programming seriously damages the legitimacy of the History channel as an honest broker of historical information– the History International channel suffers the same affliction. Just turn the channel or turn the boob tube off! Spend your life and your money elsewhere.

Quote You may be correct, G; all I can share is what Schroeder told me. Not only did he say he was the PIO, given the job at the last minute as you describe, but also that he became the overall PIO for the Portland office afterwards. reply] Portland was not in charge of the dig. The site was in Washington, at Vancouver. Vancouver had technical juridiction. Seattle was in charge, in any event. Otherwise go back and read what I have already posted, especially the part about prior negotiating skills and dealing with the press, as the press was arriving at Tina Bar. Agents had secured a perimeter, the road to the Fazios was closed as the Fazios were soon to discover, and Dorwin took charge on the beach ... in addition to everything else needing to be done (tools collected, people coordinated and given duties, etc etc etc). Dorwin went back to regular duty (robbery) the next day. Ok?
-
I feel like such a cretin too - and embrace the primary Hankism: stupid is as stupid does.
-
Nonsense. He was not the PIO of the dig. He was only at Tina Bar for part of a day. He was however one of the first to arrive at Tina Bar, called about 11:00am and asked to pick up tools and help organise others being sent to Tina Bar, and to deal with the press, because other agents were tied up. So in a weak sense I suppose he was in charge for a couple of hours until others arrived. It was a very fluid situation with people of all sorts arriving and leaving, some coming back, some not. He went back to his regular assignment (robbery duty) the next day and never did return to Tina Bar. The agent who had jurisdiction who was technically in charge was the Vancouver head agent, whose name Im not going to give - he is deceased in any event. [adendum] Dorwin was chosen becuase of his negotiating skills and to deal with the press.
-
The more intruiging source is Dorwin Schroeder, who was the feds' PIO during the Tina Beach dig. Nonsense. He was not the PIO of the dig! He wasnt at Tina Bar for more than part of a day! He was however one of the first to arrive at Tina Bar, called about 11:00am and asked to pick up and help organise others being sent to Tina Bar because other agents were tied up. So in a weak sense I suppose he was in charge for a couple of hours until others arrived. It was a very fluid situation with people of all sorts arriving and leaving, some coming back, some not. Gayla Prociv. From a simple interview, to entry as Adventure Books employee with a jealous staff, to CEO (cue echo again, add timpani drum beat). Maybe it boils down to who would give a public presentation on a serious historical issue in their t-shirt and tractor hat ? I am ready to merge the Kenny Christiansen story in with the Barb Dayton story. Were they spawned by the same frame of mind? The podium is draped with some gold foil thingy that looks like it was pulled out of longterm storage in a hap sack, five minutes earlier. Did attendees wipe their shoes off at the door when entering? Does Gayla make people wipe their shoes off at ABC Books? And will this all be decided at the sody fountain at the local drug store? Will the Pharmacist trump Gayla's decisions? Will the undertaker/mayor get a vote and have final say? This whole thing has a folksy homespun element to it that cannot be dismissed, which made be good or bad? I just love Democracy in action - Folks we have here one slightly used Cooper Theory. Do I hear a dollah? Do I hear 50 cents? Gimme a gimme a gimme a dollah, do I hear a dollah, pleez! One dollah bid by the man from Shawnee Creek. Do I have two dollah? Gimme a gimme a gimme two dollah ... folks, this thing is worth at least $20 dollah maybe $40 in New York City ... do I have two dollahs? Come on folks IS THERE ANYONE IN THERE? BE NICE gimme two dollah ... there it is, the man from ABC Books ... do I hear three dollah, come on folks gimme a gimme a gimme three $3.00 dollah ... do I hear three dollah ? There's the man from the History Channel with a five spot in his hand ... do I have three dollah? Do I have two fifty?........ SOLD! to the man from the History Channel for $2 dollah fifty cents. Let's move on to the three headed sheep ... do I have $3 dollah ?

Let's tally up; the Porteous-Blevins contribution to the Cooper case so far, as seen on stage and screen here (complete with credits). 1_ You can see I5 from a long way off right up through the foothills of the Casades, ie. Cooper could have seen the lights of I5 from a distance. 2_ It was a normal mild Fall day on the ground somewhere in the area of the crime on 11/24/71. No mention of conditions above ground (I guess thats not important). Kenny Christiansen liked nice weather, like Blevins likes the word NICE and uses it frequently, therefore: KC was Cooper. 3_ P & B claim the FBI did not realise it was an inside job and failed to investigate NWA, Boeing, etal. P&B say that is how KC slipped through. I have to wonder about their third claim. Will the FBI issue a response? It's a very serious allegation. Quote: "The Federal Bureau of Investigation is an efficient organization, but even they make mistakes. And one of the biggest ones they ever made was in the D.B. Cooper case. They never looked to see it if could be an inside job. They never looked at employees as potential suspects. This made it possible for the hijacker to slip from their grasp just long enough to fade back into the community. He had good friends, faithful friends, who not only shared in the proceeds, but kept their mouths shut for decades." (http://intotheblast.blogspot.com/)

Would I rather have the book picked up for a History Channel show or get 100% positive reviews at Amazon? You guess. (*laughs*) Quote You mean one excludes the other, in your case? So you do hedge bets! No wonder you are so lose with facts. Thats a bad policy, especially in your bsuiness. And with the slim margin AB Books and you operate on that could be a disasterous policy, but I am sure you are well acquainted with bankruptcy. Here one day gone the next. Selling baloons in a carnival would be easier-better. I thought you had a housecleaning gig? Cooper took a gamble. I see the connection. It's clear you are a risk taker. I see the affinity to the chosen subject. It must have been your lucky day. Make a splash and run ...

I only asked the question about website updates because that made as much sense as you asking me if I'd done the basic research. Yes, I read most of the FBI's seven-part PDF, the crew notes, the transcripts. Some of it I scanned over, also true. Gayla Prociv, the CEO for Adventure Books, made the decision to decline on your interview within five minutes of seeing your responses. She said you either didn't answer some of the questions or you said others weren't important. She also mentioned something about a preaching tirade you went on that was completely unexpected. I will have to look at your answers again to see what she meant. Had we included your responses, you would have simply asked us to remove them later anyway, since after you saw the book you called it trash. So everyone was saved much trouble on both sides, including the cost of text file reloading fees for us. If you are angry about it now, it sounds like sour grapes to me: "I didn't want to be in your STUPID book, anyway!" Really, Sluggo...give us a break here and don't mention the book at your website. It's the last thing we need. Reviews of Into The Blast - The True Story of D.B. Cooper at: http://www.amazon.com/Into-Blast-True-Story-Cooper/dp/0982327129

I have never met you and therefore confirm anything you care to say, or anything a third party we have never met cares to say, which confirms a fourth party Obama has never met saying what you originally said now confirmed by me, since you and I are NICE and have never met. Now wasn't that easy! Makes one queazy! And limp in the legs is a sure-fire test of truth. We could speak in tongues ? I feel it coming on, which is another sure-fire test of truth, having never met any of these people, who are nice. Nice seems to the be the subjective essense in all of this essence of. Some would say this is all circular.

I am the person who spoke with the president of the company that made the bank bag. I think my comments are in the old thread but I'm not sure. Search on my screen name, Calcs show at a terminal velocity of 120 mph (53.6m/sec) Cooper in free fall may not have penetrated open water by more than 3-6 feet depending on angle ... and a mud base 16" thick no more than a foot again depending on angle ... all of which was a little surprising to me. I am using the standard formulae and estimated drag coeficients for water mud. The (low) terminal velocity of a human body turns out to be crucial vs say a meteorite, and in the case of mud a surprising amount of energy is dispersed outward quickly (even at relatively step angles). This may give definition to the matter of "augering in" which some speculated about. In the water scenario it means that if he landed in deep water he surely did not hit bottom, but simply suffered the usual injuries and moved on with the current. Any comments/experience in this matter? (I looked for anyone discussing such matters at Dropzone but couldnt really find anything ?)

I have no intention of posting any further details on what she said on this thread. Blevins-the-Merciful.

Wrestle him to the floor and stuff a cotton ball in his mouth, swab it around hard, put that in a plastic bag, and send it to the FBI in Washington - write a letter to the NY Times and say you did so. I never said this.

Are you kidding or what? Your statement makes little sense. Skipp Porteous interviewed Rataczak for the book. Rataczak knew from the start that this was the purpose of the interview, since the phone call was pre-arranged in advance. I didn't make a 'formal statement'. It was a direct quote from the book and nothing more. so you answered the question; it wasnt that difficult was it? Is everything you have posted at Dropzone Skip Porteous' work?
-
I do too. Yours is the under statement of the Cooper era but you already know that!

The Death Woods have swallowed them up as well. It’s the Sasquatch I tell ya... I notice there is someone who has not been posting and conspicuously absent .. perhaps they got lost in there too finally... that or Sasquatch caught them and made them his bitch. now now, be kind. we all make mistakes. we all have a bias.

Bless you! Someone is paying attention. Moreover Safe's work on the bag was checked (double checked) by others on the science panel. We would not leave something like this to chance because it was a basic requirement we know what the bag consisted of, organically. I mean if you are going to look at money and debris then you must have some idea what to look for - correct? Thanks for bringing this up because frankly I was going to sit here and say nothing, for many reasons. Thank you! The same procedure was followed in the case of the rubber bands and other consistuents of this case ... If you look at Rats supposed quote below there is something wrong, in my estimattion, or Rat literally does not know what a hap sack is vs a shoulder slung heavy bank security bag possible with zipper and a hasp for a lock ? Quote ------------------------------------------------------------ 'Another time (Cooper got upset) was when the money that was to be brought in by Tina was brought in a hap sack, a bag. I’m not quite sure how to describe the bag other than it was a very coarse hap sack with a leather shoulder strap across it and a leather handle and the $200,000 was in that. He wanted a hiking-type knapsack, but knapsacks weren’t as popular then as they are nowadays, where every kid in the street has one...' ....................................................................... Hap Sack: "Webster's Haitian Creole - English Thesaurus Dictionary - Google Books ResultInc Icon Group International, Philip M. Parker - 2008 - Foreign Language Study - 440 pages ... (adj) powder. sache bag; synonyms (n) pocket, pouch, package, briefcase, purse, sack, ... sak sack; synonyms (n) pocket, pouch, sac, poke, purse, A universal and critical dictionary of the English language: to ... - Google Books ResultJoseph Emerson Worcester, John Walker - 1854 - Language Arts & Disciplines - 956 pages A hap sack, or bundle of wool ; second, any large bulky and light container usually made of cloth like a laundry bag or throw away floppy clothes container. — (Late Obs) The seat of the lord- chancellor of England, and of the wool stuffed seats of the judges in the House of Lords. ... ----------------------------------------------------- Lightness of the bag is implicit, in contrast to Rataczak's description of a heavy coarse shoulder strapped bag capable of being secured and containing weight (containing 20+ lbs of bundled money). And in spite of what kind of bag it was we have lengthy testimony as to what was done with the contents of the bag by Cooper. I could be wrong but something tells me Rat never intended his remarks to be taken and made into a formal statement by Mr. Blevins and that is Blevin's own work independent of what Rat thought would happen? In addition it is almost common knowledge that Mr. Rataczak took himself off the active call-in list a long time ago, for some reason, so Mr/ Blevin's advice 'just call him' may be a dead-ender and a non-starter Blevins is aware of even as he is saying, 'just call him'? It does not work the way Blevins is saying it does. I can personally testify to that fact. Blevins just got lucky. That's how it appears to me ...
