she wants to know if the Viet officer's name is TONY WONG ...

Pat who is the Viet officer you just posted - got a name? also - congrats on being in the ballpark on anatomy. (the Col)

Farflung, I guess that I have to ask the question, whether I believe the answer or not, just to satisfy my morbid curiosity. So how many Bigfoots can hide in a Roswell saucer? Robert Nicholson 32! (plus spare parts) want the equation?
-
so he was active duty during the hijacking? did he have family or friends in the area of Portland ... that you know of? I realise at this early stage you may not have answers. But, if I understand your process to date, you were randomly looking through photos when you came across this guy? Maybe I missed something? welcome to the thread.

you have a good eye. Where was he on Nov 24 1971 ? Do you know where he was living in '70-71 ?

Is there an association between the rising tide of interest in DB Cooperism and the cataclysmic spread of Type II diabetes? The IDF and other organizations recently launched the Unite for Diabetes campaign to rally for a United Nations Resolution on Diabetes, which would bring attention to the disease and ask that November 14 be observed as "World Diabetes Day," already informally recognized. Ninety-six member countries need to vote for the resolution for it to become official; campaign organizers are hoping for this to appen before November 2007. If passed, the U.N. resolution would be the first to address a chronic, non-communicable disease; historically, diabetes has been overshadowed in both aid and attention by the heavy-hitters of global health, such as HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.

Let's get something straight here. (again) I don't use Dropzone to 'promote' the book. If I wanted to do promo, I would drop an article on my Newsvine column, which receives tens of thousands of visits a month on those 450+ illustrated articles, whether I post anything that month or not. There is also the issue of trust. You posted a couple of times previously (I will dig them up for you if you wish) that Geoff Gray had discounted KC as a viable suspect in his new book because a magic fairy said so. Actually, it wasn't a fairy. You said you knew this for a fact. That turns out to be not true, as I discovered on June 20 when that Brit reporter let me have a look at the manuscript. I wish I could say more on this, because I was not happy with your statements, but the book comes out soon enough and then everyone will know you were stretching the truth to the breaking point with that one. I had no idea who Tom Kaye was before he contacted me. Do I remind you of someone who has obsessed over the Cooper case for the last 15 years? I think not. It's been more of a headache than anything else, and took valuable time away from the things I really enjoy doing. I sent Tom a copy of the PDF on the recommendation of the Brit reporter and the next day Tom sent me his cell number. I'm pretty busy lately and I told him I would call him on Saturday. There is no great mystery, and to tell you the truth, after all the crap I've received regarding the Cooper case (some which I deserved) I care less about it with each passing day. The only thing I want to know is if Skipp and I are right or wrong, and frankly, I don't think anyone who posts to this thread can tell me this for sure one way or another. Maybe I will never know. But anything I say here has zip to do with selling books. For the 22nd time or so: Adventure Books of Seattle is a wholesale trade publisher. This means we release books at the wholesale rate into normal distribution channels such as Ingram Books or Baker and Taylor, etc. 95% of sales come from these entities, who obtain our titles at the standard 55% off the retail price embedded into the EAN/Bookland barcode on the back. What does this mean? I don't sell our books. Ingram does. We have accounts with them in the US, Britain, Europe, and Australia, through Lightning Source. It's all automatic and all I do is check sales numbers occasionally. Maybe 5% of sales come through Amazon and most of those via Amazon jobbers who obtain the book at the wholesale rate. ('Also available from THESE SELLERS...') Even if everyone at Dropzone who read my posts bought a dozen books each, it wouldn't mean a thing, compared to bookstore and wholesale orders. So please stop with the 'selling the book' stuff. You haven't a clue on how book distribution and sales actually work these days. 377: Questions you subbed copied and will be asked. I had to research to find out who Tom was. I'm told he's one of the few people allowed access to the FBI evidence on Cooper. I don't know if that's true. Just heard it. I will talk to him this weekend. Well very interesting, especially since Tom just emailed me saying, quote: "Now thats pretty darn funny! He emailed me with the subject "we should talk". NEVER did he say it was an interview or anything to that effect. He just said that he was the guy that wrote Into the Blast and wanted to chat. I will have to decide what to do now. Thanks for the heads up." Tom Normally I wouldnt do something like this but I have every faith Tom's side of Blevin;s story is the true account. Tom, I hope you dont mind I posted this. Thanks. G. I don't mind either. I think fishing this weekend is a better plan and your rather crass post gives me just the excuse I need. If Kaye is already revealing the contents of emails I sent to him privately, I have no desire to speak to him anyway. First rule of fishing: NEVER SINK THE HOOK IN YOURSELF. (my kids knew that by age 1) Blevins, maybe you owe Tom an apology.
-
Jo, you are ineffable. I think Blevins wants to try and milk Tom for anything that would allow Blevins to construct some kind of story regarding the money find - something that would be more-or-less in line with what Tom's knows about the find? That's just a guess on my part, based on Blevin's prior history. Take care.

Yet on 2 Aug 2010, RobertMBlevins explains his theory on the Cooper money like this: RobertMBlevins continues with: RobertMBlevins reinforced on 17 Oct 2010: This stuff is all true. At one time I thought the story of the offered money to Mucklow was real. I also gave some consideration to the Weber theory, that the money was tossed into the river. I now believe neither of these things are true. It's only a theory, but I think the money was placed there purposely by the hijacker, and most likely some time AFTER the hijacking. But the real reason I came back to make a post is because, yes, I have something new. I'm going to interview Tom Kaye on Saturday, and I wanted to know if anyone here had any specific questions they wanted me to ask him. If you do, just post them here by Saturday at 10AM. I have a few of my own, but there may be some that you might want answered for yourself. It's BAAAAAAAAA''AAAAAHHHHHUK!

*Just not so open minded that your brain falls out.

Well, you are right about the location of the money as opposed to the state park. But the truth is, I never bought into the idea of just 'throwing the money into the river' anyway. The reason being you couldn't be sure it would be found. It might just sink, or wash away into the ocean. However, it's a short drive from the park to the river. If the money was a plant, it was done some time after the hijacking. There is some support for the plant idea, and here's why: First, if throwing it into the river wouldn't work, then leaving it somewhere on the ground where it might easily be found is just as bad an idea. Why? Because this would tell the FBI you (the hijacker) were still alive. The first thing the FBI would do if any of the money were found on land would be to look for the briefcase, the body, the parachutes, and the remainder of the money. Finding nothing, they would know right away the money was most likely left behind either on purpose or accidentally by the hijacker. In any case, they would have to assume he made it to the ground. And without a body or anything else, that he managed to get away. So you can't leave any money on the ground if you are the hijacker. It's a dead giveaway that you made it. As far as the banks and the money, and the banks giving up the search within 3-6 months, this was not generally known until Larry Carr said so in his 2008 radio interview. (See Wiki link at DB Cooper for the recording) I've always maintained that finding approximately three bundles of the money in the same spot with nothing else from the crime around was suspicious in itself. Had the money gone into the river because Cooper was a no-pull into the water, or drowned, it's unlikely that three bundles would mysteriously appear in the exact same spot, with no other money or other evidence of the hijacker. It stretches the imagination just a bit. Most of the money...sure. A little bit of the money, that is, less than one bundle...sure. Three together, maybe not. I don't know if this has to do with anything, but the amount of money found behind Christiansen's house the year after he died was approximately one bundle ($2,000), and it was in twenties. This has been verified by Carolyn Tyner of Boulder, CO and Dan Rattenbury, the current owner of Christiansen's old house. Several of KC's neighbors in Bonney Lake reported the same story, but could give no details on the exact amount. Only Tyner was able to do that. Tyner, who is now married to a Boulder, Co police officer, stated that Kenny left she and her husband the house, and Brian McWilliams got the extra lot out back. McWilliams immediately sold the logs off the lot to a local logging company, sold the lot, and then took his money and moved back to the Yakima area. This was confirmed by his ex-wife, whom I interviewed in Puyallup in March 2010. The money was found a few months later by a kid in the stumps that the logging company had been piled up after they took the trees. Tyner did not associate the money (in 95) with either the hijacking or it belonging to she or her husband. Neither of them, she said, had buried any money back there, so they didn't give it a lot of thought. She says they assumed the money had been buried there long ago, maybe even before Kenny bought the house. Look, the money at Tena Bar is a mystery. That's all there is to it. I still believe a plant is the best theory, not three bundles washing their happy way down the river and somehow ending up in the same spot. Even if ALL the bundles had come loose in the river, what are the chances of three in the same spot with no other evidence being found? If the hijacker died in the river nearby, you would think something else would have been found in the same area. One other bundle...SOMEWHERE. The remains of a chute...a briefcase, a body perhaps. But there is nothing. And that alone makes it suspicious. Even if you go with the dredging theory, that still doesn't explain how many of the bills were in such good condition, considering. Had they been exposed to water for years, and then dredged up from the bottom of the Columbia, how could so many still be readable? They would be mush. The only explanation I can figure is that they were buried there purposely. Maybe. Maybe not. Who the hell knows? One problem is the lack of evidence. There's a lot of nothing with that find, and from that you can assume a couple of possibilities, but it's a tough nut to crack. frankly, who cares what you think about anything at this point.

(Agreed. A major West coast airport is about the LAST place the hijacker would go the day after the crime.) (Janet's story might just be a simple mistake on her part, except for one important point: She claimed the Bureau (or a friend of the Bureau) threatened her right at her front door two weeks after she sent a letter to the FBI in Portland. This casts her entire story into serious doubt. In reality, for the first six months after the hijacking, the FBI was taking all incoming tips seriously and investigating as many as possible, sometimes without regard to how silly they sounded. Her 'threat' scenario is extremely unlikely.) (The obvious answer here is this: Cooper had no intention of remaining aboard the aircraft very long after the takeoff from Seattle. The farther he tells them to fly, the more difficult it is for the Bureau to trap him on the ground, since the jump zone could conceivably be more than a thousand miles in length.) (I have no official theory here, but if you believe that Kenny and Bernie met up at Paradise Point State Park, just off Interstate 5, Tena Bar is only a few miles away. Personally, I think the money could have been a plant that was done long after the hijacking. One possible reason: The heat was still hot and heavy on the hijacker even a few years later. Perhaps the money was finally planted there as a red herring in an effort to make the FBI believe Cooper died in the jump. And guess what? IT WORKED. Today, the Bureau's position (much of it based on the found money) is that Cooper probably died in the jump.) Side Note - I've been asked a few times how Skipp Porteous and I came to the idea that (if they were involved) Kenny and Bernie picked Paradise Point State Park for a rendezvous. Here's why we did: 1) Other than more-heavily-patrolled KOA/private type campgrounds, it was the only camping in the area that is near the Washougal and literally a stone's throw from the freeway. 2) The money was found just downriver from the park. This is one of the biggest reasons, we think. 3) Bernie and sometimes his friends (not Kenny) had occasionally camped there and used it as a base camp for hunting and fishing trips. They would camp there and take a vehicle into the hills, returning at nightfall. 4) It's easy to find. If you were hiking out of the woods and made it to the freeway, you just have to go to the proper exit. You can actually see it from the highway. 5) Margie Geestman said Bernie went there sometimes (see #3) when they lived in Oakville. 6) If you were hiking out of the woods and found your way to the Lewis or Washougal rivers, you could just follow those back to the freeway and then finding the park would be easy. 7) It has a pay phone, and so many campsites that no one notices much what anyone else is doing. On a personal note, I once got stuck in the middle of winter way up on the Lewis River. I made it back to Woodland by following the banks of the Lewis. Started out in the morning, made it to the freeway by the afternoon. About a third of the way, there was still snow on the ground. Have you ever had a speculation that lived ? How/why do you have so many basic facts of life WRONG! Where did it go so wrong ?

Georger, The mountains were really lit up Sunday night after a day of 50+ MPH winds up there. However, yesterday and last night the winds calmned down. The wind forecast for the next two days is only 5 to 10 MPH. Although there was still a lot of smoke in the mountains last night, I could only see two or three areas burning. One of those areas was at the base of the mountains and I think it was a controlled burn as the firefighters tried to "connect" the areas that were burned Sunday, which was a very interesting day here, with areas that were burned by the Fort Huachuca fires on Friday, another very interesting day. There are still some active fires going on this morning on both the notheast and southwest sides of the mountains. But if the winds forecast is correct, the firefighters should be able to make a lot of progress today and tomorrow. Some of the mandatory evacuation areas have been downgraded to pre-evacuation areas. As one whose own neighborhood was probably saved by the firefighters on Friday, I can only say that these guys and gals are doing an excellent job under extremely difficult circumstances. Robert Nicholson Thanks for the update Robert.

A group member just sent me the attached photo of the fire line from his back yard. They received one evacuation order which was cancelled. The area is now on standby and watching. Our best thoughts and prayers go out to the Group Member and his family.

Side note for Georger: Lyle Christensen never 'went to NYC'. He sent three letters. Two to Nora Ephron (director, Sleepless in Seattle) and one to Skipp Porteous. Payment was never mentioned. He gets absolutely zero from sales of the book or any film rights on his brother's story. He also refused payment from History Channel for his appearance on Decoded. All he wants to know is if his brother was the hijacker. well he isnt. funny he would contact a movie producer vs the FBI - to know if his brother was Cooper ? Evidently he had already ruled out Jessie James and Hotspur.
-
Even before I became officially involved in the book, I read the Geoff Gray article and I thought he might be onto something. I told Porteous later: 'Someone needs to interview the people this guy (Kenny Christiansen) knew.' . Offically involved. Geoff Gray article. I told Porteous . I thought he might be onto something. Lyle comes to NYC looking for a movie contract. Do I have this correct? I used your own words- thoughts-history. It all begins with Porteous/Geof Grey after Lyle comes to town looking to hook up, with a story. Lyle wants to get his story to a movie producer. Lyle didnt do any personal research involving his brothers friends, or the Cooper case ... or did he? What makes Lyle an expert? Lyle of course knew his own brother? You havent said much of anything about Lyle's version of Kenny. I wonder why? Porteous has never said much of anything outside of the fact its pretty obvious (by your remarks) that Mr. Grey and Porteous have a close working relationship, and always have had? Do you & Porteous know 'everything about anything' that Geof Grey supposedly knows? Officially involved? Who swore you in? Grey has conveyed a different version of you and Porteous to others, not flattering. I find it amazing he would share his gallies with Porteous and you! Somebody is lying through his teeth!!! Not that that would be anything NEW - in the Cooper Zoo. You say in another post: 'everyone has seen the gallies'. I haven't. Other's haven't. Do you or Porteous or Grey want to send a copy here for "everyone" to read the gallies. since "everyone" has already read them? What else is hiding below the sheets? Not that it matters or is anyone's business EXCEPT that . . .

Who is this about? YOU or Kenny ? YOU or DB Cooper ? When will you bring KC back into the story? He was supposed to be the central character - correct? I mean, if you wanted a platform for preaching and haarraassing people, I guess you have it. Do you have the public and the city of Auburn solidly behind your shit? It's about The Truth. You'd have to ask the city for the answer to your other question. I do NOT harass people. That job has been taken already by others on this thread...and you must include yourself on that list. If you deny it, I will go back and quote you on at least a dozen instances. Maybe even the ones where you got banned for a while doing it. I don't have to bring Kenny 'back into' the story. He's been there since the Geoff Gray article in 2007. You havent developed Kenny - the real Kenny - at all. All you ever talk about is the other people and you avoid any analysis of your so-caled alleged facts regarding Kenny. You say yourself 'it isnt proof', so evidently you have gone as far as you can developing Kenny. Then you switch to other topics and issues ... including my history here at Dropzone? You even avoid (or dont know) the full facts of that! I guess you are a "tactician" as oppsoed to a researcher. A debater without facts? A preacher without a church? Another voice in the wind. What if I know things about Kenny you don't know? What then? Sounds to me like you're having just another bad day ... on Father's Day?
-
I'm sorry I can't oblige your request to keep quiet. Who is this about? YOU or Kenny ? YOU or DB Cooper ? When will you bring KC back into the story? He was supposed to be the central character - correct? I mean, if you wanted a platform for preaching and haarraassing people, I guess you have it. Are you sure you have a cat? The cat who lives under my back porch - has light medium length gray hair and small - but, not a kitten as she has a kitten with her. Her ears are pink and way out of proportion to her body. What is she? She looks almost alien and I was shocked the first time I saw her. I think I could make more money off this weird cat - than you will make off of Christiansen. At least she really exists, but like the elusive Big Foot she is camera shy! That is the funniest thing Ive read here in quite a while! Congrats.
-
Georger, your comment about the 'other experts' (who were unnamed) reminds of the scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark at the end of the film: . Glad to be of service, dreamer. Fini.
-
I too think it's a waste of time to pursue further tests on the Amboy canopy but Blevins has a point. It would be very easy to do and would take Cossey out of the proof loop. I can't fault Blevins for seeking verification. Cossey has been known to "play" with people regarding Norjack, but here he'd have every reason including financial gain to ID the canopy as one given to DBC if it was. 377 so the other "experts" beisde Cossey who examined the chute don't count? Dont exist or aren;t believable? Only Blevins can determine this outcome?
