The list you were looking at on the web site is old and fairly inaccurate. Give Mirage a call at 386 740 9222 ask one of the sales people to help you out they'll be able to answer your questions. Just a quick side note, my girlfriends sabre 190 fits in an M4 just fine, not too tight at all.

Why do cops confiscate BASE rigs
freefalle replied to freefalle's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I know this should probably go in the BASE section but I put it here because I would like a varity of people to read it. I was thinking today, why do cops confiscate BASE rigs when they arrest somone at the scene of a BASE jump. Many of you guys know, Im a police officer, and this question baffles me. With the exception of places like the state parks "base jumping" is not a crime. Generally speaking people who get arrested for base jumping are charged with criminal trespass USUALLY its felony trespassing because they jump from an FCC tower or cross onto a construction site to jump a crane. Now, if someone gets arrested in a park where there is a federal statute that prohibits base jumping I can see why the cops would take a rig, ie the rig is evidence of the "crime." However, if someone lets say BASES from a tower, gets caught and gets arrested for trespassing WHY CONFISCATE THEIR RIG? the rig itself has no evidentiary value towards the charge of trespassing. If a group of people got caught climbing the tower and didnt have base rigs, they, for what ever reason just wanted to climb the damn tower, and the cops showed up, would the cops confiscate there sneakers as evidence? let me answer that....fuck no.... so why take a base rig as evidence of trespassing? Anybody ever had their rig confiscated? I am certianly NOT an advocate for bullshit lawsuits but I truly believe, if someone hired a sharp attorney they may have a good case for a civil rights violation law suit under the fourth admendment "unreasonable search and seizure" Law enforcement agencies depriving people of their property (base rigs) unrelated to the charge they are facing may be violating their rights. Another example, a transient goes into a construction sight to find a place to sleep for the night, in the morning the renta-cop security guard shows up and finds him, he calls the cops and wants the transient arrested the cops show up and are forced to arrest the transient for trespassing, do you think they would make him strip down and tag his clothes into evidence because he was wearing them at the time the crime occurred. Just a thought P.S. I DO NOT base jump at this time. Although I appreicate the beauty in the sport of base jumping I DO NOT advocate or support violation of state, local or federal laws to engage in the sport. -
other people's views on coach jumps
freefalle replied to aero04's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There are many people who do coaching as a profession, they often charge for there slot and some extra. I am not a professional coach, I am out there to have fun, if Im at the drop zone, well usually, Im there to jump. I dont care what kind of jump I make, my reasoning for jumping is far deeper for that. All that shit being said, if someone wants to jump with me, Im not going to ask them to pay for my slot and personally, if they offered and I was going to jump anyway, I have and would again tell them not to worry about it. I think there is something lacking at a DZ or in this sport if the menatlity is, Im only going to help you if you compensate me for it.... More DZ's should have mentor programs and more skydivers should participate in those programs. Many young skydivers have left this sport because of closed minded people and that is sad Just my .02 for what is worth peace on you -
I know its a bit early but Im trying to schedule vacation time. Are they having the harvest moon boogie at Blue Sky Adventures this year? We've been up to visit the DZ before and had a GREAT time. How are things now with the new owners????

My videos are starting to come along nicely. My exits are alot better and fairly clean. The probelm Im noticing now is that Im orbiting around the subjects Im videoing. I was talking to Ray Dutch about it and he said one way to help stop it is to look past the video and try to line up with something on the ground. Anybody else have a problem with orbiting? how did you fix it? Thanks

CAPWELL issues ANOTHER recall on reserve closing pin
freefalle replied to freefalle's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Im not going to comment on my source, because it doesn't matter. CAPWELL, the company who makes most of, if not all of the reserve closing pins used by container manufacturers has issued ANOTHER recall on all their reserve closing pins manufactured since 2001. I do not have all the details and I wont speculate here. PLEASE CONTACT your senior or master rigger, or container manufacturer and have your reserve pin field tested if you bought it since 2001. the field test can be done with the reserve in place and does not require a repack. -
Air, I used to live up there I was in Anchorage for 4 years. Are you renting a car?

removing blood from a canopy
freefalle replied to freefalle's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have the canopy of a friend of mine, he was injuried badly and there is ALOT of blood on the canopy its been sitting for awhile, almost 2 months. Does anyone know how to get the blood out of the canopy with damaging the canopy? I would appreicate advise from someone who is sure they know what works. Thanks -
I had my rigger make up a new set for my racer. The ones that were on there were too short.

my girlfriend works for Mirage and I asked her about the financing option. She said they use Wells Fargo for people who want to finance rigs. They apparently have the applications and if your credit is good you'll get approved. I dont think Wells Fargos intrest rates are too high but Im not sure. Now you know......

When I got my life insurance policy I was going to have an adendum which would provide payment in the event to a death while skydiving. My insurance company was going to charge me an extra 150.00 a month of the policy. I couldn't afford that so I had it removed. I still have the life insurance but it wont pay if I die while skydiving. Check with your insurance company and see what they offer. Its going to be costly though

As many of you probably read, on April 23 2003. Chris Colwell was involved in a freefall collision at Skydive Deland. Chris sustained a fractured neck (c6 and C7) Chris was transfered today to the VA spinal rehab center in Tampa (Ill add the address later when I get home I dont have it with me) Chris is alert and responsive. He has gross movement in his arms and fine motor movement in 3 of his fingers on each hand. He has involuntary movement in his legs indicating he has nerve conduction Chris is breathing with the assistance of a trach (a tube place in his neck) the staff at the rehab. stated their first goal is to re-establish independent breathing and feel this will happen in the near future Mentally, Chris, as always, is on top of his game. he has a positive attitude and is ready to start getting better. Chris is expected to be at the rehab for 6 weeks its unknown where he will be going after that. Many of you also know, this Sunday May 25 Skydive Deland will be hosting a Get Better Boggie to raise money for Chris and his wife Nancy. There will be Raffles and Silent auctions. There is over $12,000 in merchandise and services to be given out. If you cant make the boogie, please call the DZ to purchase tickets. Please help Chris and Nancy

mind you I am not a rigger but I do own a racer. Alot of riggers will balk about repacking a racer because it requires a little more effort to repack the reserve. I notice that you are considering buying a racer contairer for your first set up. there are people out there that will discourage you from buying a racer container because the are considered not to be freefly friendly i.e. lack of riser protection and lots of velcro. I am very happy with my racer, its been a great first rig and I would consider buying another one. However I did send mine back to jump shack and have whats called ghee flaps installed for better riser protection. Racers a good solid rigs, buy it fly it and enjoy it peace on you!
