I just ordered the 300qrc for my 35mm cam. Now as I sit and stare at my hawkeye, Im perplexed as to how do I secure the bracket to the top of my hemlet. Any advise? thanks

I finally did it, after almost 6 years of being a cop, I reached my bullshit tolerance level. I quit last week and God I am happpy. I feel as if the weight of the world is off my shoulders, my stress level is way down and Im starting to remember what it feels like to be just a "normal guy" again. Ive shared some of what Ive been through with the people in here some of you know me and have seen first hand the injuries I sustained and the time of spent in ICU because of that damn job, well Im DONE!!!!! just wanted to share that with you. Okay, Im confused, Im getting the parts together to add a cannon rebel to the top of my Hawkeye, stroboframe seems to be the most popular mount I did a search for them and I found about 100 different kinds, could someone please tell me what to get to mount a cannon rebel to the top of my hawkeye? thanks

Deuce, I value your opinion and appreicate your advise. But I didnt just show up on the DZ and push my way on the load, I've been jumping at this DZ along time, in fact its where I did my AFF, I know both the DZO and then DZM fairly well, when I got there I asked the orgainzer if they had a video slot he said no, they werent paying for a video slot, I asked if I could go, he said yes, I paid for my slot and I was not paid for the video, I went for the experience. Had they already had arrangements for a video, or if someone who was staff wanted to bump me, I would have understood.

I'm posting this questionin order to gain some insite, please dont use it as an open invitation to flame me. I have right at 250 jumps, I have right at 100 camera jumps (yes I started earlier then some people think I should have but thats a total different topic) Since Ive started flying camera I have been especially careful, Ive taken things slowly and spen ALOT of time working with the staff camera guys at my DZ. I've gotten alot of postivie feedback and feel pretty comfortable in my ability for my level. Yesterday, I was at the DZ and there was a group putting together a 34 way, I asked if I could go and shoot video. The Organizer, whom I've jumped with and shot video for several times before, said sure. I got on the load, the jump went well, the video I shot came out pretty good if I say so my self. After the jump, the organizer came up to me and said the the DZM got with him and told him that the DZO said I could not go on anymore big ways because he felt I do not have enough jumps. I guess Im a little upset by this, the DZO has never jumped with me, he has never seen my videos and I honestly dont even think he knows how many jumps I have as I frequent more than one DZ. I intend to get with the DZO and discuss this issue further but I wanted to get some feed back from some of the folks in here.... Thoughts?

sounds like dirty heads, mine did something like that not too long ago. Get the head cleaner and try that. It worked for me. good luck

the only other option is to take the memory stick to walgreens, have the photos printed and then scan them on to a disk.

you can do a "photo grab to the memory card. Play the video on the TV, when you get to something you would like a still of press the pause button on the remote control. Then hit the Photo button on the remote control, the photo is then saved to the memory card. You can insert the memory card in the card reader (one came with the camera) and download them to the computer. If for some reason you dont have a memory card reader, you can take the memory card to Walgreens they can print the photos from the card. Just so you know, the quality is not the best but they come out okay

The USPA is running behind. I talked to them about a week ago because I had not heard back from them about my D license which was sent in around the middle/end of Sept. Give them a couple of more weeks and if you still havent heard anything give them a call.

Talk you your instructor about combining levels, it can be done. Many people are able to combine levels and complete them early, its just going to depend on how comfortable you are in the air and if you can accomplish the required skills before the hard deck established by your jump master. the opinions regarding the best camera helmet will vary. If you want some good advise post this in the Photography forum there are SEVERAL folks there that are more than willing to help you out with your questions.

Whats the largest size print you can make out of a frame grab from a PC 100 before it looks like crap? Ive got a really cool frame grab I want to print out as large as I can but dont want to trash it. Thanks

On Sat the 27th I got my 200th jump in. It was a simple round with 12 of us in the group. It wasn't a perfect formation, but it was a perfect jump. It made me think alot about how much skydiving has changed my life and how important my friends are to me. Ive been dealing with so much shit in my personal life the last year and consistantly the D.Z. has been my one place to be grounded and to find peace. pretty damn cool!

Im off that weekend, Ill probably be there! anyone want/need a ride up from Florida, I dont want to drive alone

Does anyone put on a training camp for people intrested in getting into video? Maybe focusing on safety, setting up helmets, EXITS etc. It seems like you can get training for almost every dicipline of skydive except this one. Im working with alot of GREAT guys at my DZ who have been super about helping me out (thanks Ray Dutch) I've learned alot from them but I would be intrested in attending a video camp if there is one out there.

I got to work at 10;00 only to find out my cars RADAR was hooked up backwards, not that I really give a shit, I dont use it anyway but my Sgt. noticed it during a vehicle inspection. Then I got my ass chewed for something I said,,,, okay I deserved the ass chewing but it still sucked. Handled 2 robberies and a Domestic before lunch. Lunch was okay. 15 minutes after I got done with lunch I got a call for a male subject on the bridge he tied a rope around the guard rail and the other end of the rope he tied around his neck. I got there started talking to the fellow who was obviously at the worst point of his fucking life. mid-way through the conversation he says Thanks for trying to talk me out of it but Im going to kill myself now and jumped off the rail. I climbed over the rail and out on a small ledge to reach this fellow, were about 200 feet above the shallow part of the river. Anyway a struggle ensued and I ended up getting this guy back over the bridge rail. unless you've watched a man dying infront of you, knowing if you didnt act fast he was going to die you have no idea how much stress that was. He was taken to the hospital, physically hell be okay and hopefully mentally hell soon heal. As if that wasn't enough, 30 minutes after I got finished with his paperwork, I got dispatched to another call. The dispatcher says "contact the reporting party at the bus bench at the intersection of >>>>and>>>> they see something moving in a towel covered in blood and there to afraid to open the towel. I arrive on scene to find a towel slightly covered in blood, I opened the towel and found a beautiful NEWBORN baby girl she was perfect how could someone just throw their child away on a bus bench at 600 am I dont fucking understand people the baby was cold, like she had been there for a while, but she was alive. I took her to the hospital and shes doing well. I dont know how much longer I can do this job I cant stand to see the way people treat each other and themselves. I just want to go skydive and leave the scenes replaying in my mind up there but Paydays not even til Friday and as always money is tight. to those who say I became a cop because I was picked on in high school FUCK YOU when I graduated high school I was 6'2 and 185 lbs not too many people picked on me. I want to purge my mind of the things I keep seeing. Sorry for this long boring post
