I thought Id read some post on here about the Cannon Rebel I think Eos or Nos (forget which) I saw a cannon rebel on sale at walmart the other day for about 150.00 and was thinking about buying it. Is this a good Camera to use for shooting stills while doing video? If so whats a good lens to put on it, Im mostly going to shoot tandem and 4 ways. Thanks for the help
  4. just a suggestion, start checking with city administrations, they frequently look for people to wok in IS positions, the pay isnt always the greatest but at least its a job, check online I "think" the city of Daytona Beach MAY be hiring for computer gurus if not start checking with different counties. Good luck
  5. I dont know of any "classes" here in Florida but I do know of a couple of riggers in the deland area that have expressed a willingness to train people who desire to be a rigger. If your intrested drop me a PM and Ill give you some information that will be helpful

  9. be careful, dont burn your pumpkin
  10. I just finished real esate school and I work part time for a mortage company so I can make a couple of suggestions regarding this that may help. You can ask the present owner of the property to hold a purchase money mortage basicall what that is is the down payment portion of the total sale price is held by the owner/seller, each month in addition to the mortage paid to the finance company a second or "purchase money mortage" is paid directly to the seller. If/when the purchase money mortage holder dies, the balance of that mortage can be paid to the person she designates in her will OR if she elect the mortage can be forgiven subsequently satisifing the lein on the deed. A second option is an 80/20 financing mortage, Im not sure how feisable that is on the property you are looking at because of the price, however the way it works is you get a first mortage for the 80% of the asking price, then you get a second mortage (usually for the same lender) for the reamining 20% to use for the down payment. Given the amount of equity in the property you are considering, you may be able to convince a lender that this is in their best intrest because (and not that you would) if you default on the loans they have a property that they can resell at a huge profit with very little loss. Buying the type of property you are looking at is a great investment, The securing financing and the inspection and other incurred cost can add up quick be prepared to pay some cash up front for the inspections and appraisal. Dont get discouraged, there is ALOT of moeny to be lent right now hang in there and keep looking. If you have anymore questions that I may be able to help you with please PM me or drop me an email Ill do what I can to answer them
  11. kinda like louie the leach here in Daytona uh Marc. You did the right thing God did not want him today Peace Bro
  12. Im almost finished getting all my camera gear together I went with the Sony PC 100 and a Hawkeye helmet. I spent the money on a Findley ring site and a cam eye. Im pretty happy with the way it fits Ive used the cam alot off the helmet while playing with my 3yr old son. The rest of its still in the closet, I had the money so I spent it on the gear but I really dont feel like I have enough jumps to be strapping a camera to my pumpkin yet. I refuse to hurt myself or my friends maybe in about 75 more jumps Ill think about it. I recommend the Sony though I let you know about the rest latter!
  13. Mark, both of yens, hang in there, youre both in my prayers. Chuck
  14. Ill be in North Carolina the early part of next month visiting Chimney Rock. I dont know anything about the area but Id like to find a DZ in the area to make a jump or two while Im there. Does anyone know if there is a DZ that is fairly close? Thanks for your help.
  15. landing a canopy is a skill which takes time to develop. It WILL come with time be patient and listen to your instructors. The one piece of advice I can give you is this. Its very hard to determine how high off the ground you are by looking straight down, instead, pick out a point on the ground a little bit further in front of you. maintain an awareness of that point and use it to judge how far off the ground you are. That seems to work for alot of people. Above all BE PATIENT and remember listen to your instructor, flaring to high can seriously suck. good luck, the landings will come in time
  16. My suggestion is this, If you cant get to a canopy control class like the one thats taught at skydive Deland by Scott or Vladi, try this. Find a competent canopy pilot at your DZ, someones whos willing to teach, get them to work with you. You may even consider getting back on the student radio with them and have them talk you down. discovering how to hit accurate landings requires a bit of effort including how to read the wind, wind direction and the effects of the wind on your specific canopy. Getting some advice and help from someone with a bit more experience may prove helpful.
  17. Magistr8, please dont take this response the wrong way, as the following is nothing more than my own independent thoughts. Why do you Skydive? furthermore, why do you feel the need to have the support of your parental figures to justify your skydiving? Exactly what do you get out of your parental figures saying "we support you throwing yourself out of a perfectly good air plane" my friend, your decision to engage in this sport was just that, your decision. The benifits and changes in your life (and Im sure there have been many) resulting from skydiving, are totally yours! Although many people may attempt to presuade you from skydiving the decision and choice is yours. Take ownership of your decision and enjoy it! Be proud of the fact that you have the courage and self confidence to do what many people refuse to try. You speak of support, SCREW their support! man-up continue to own your skydiving and enjoy it. Accept the risks (and Im sure you do) involved in this sport and continue to take pride in the fact that you are a skydiver. Brother, if you need support in your decision to skydive write the following on a peice of paper and stick it in your wallet: Chuck Bryan supports the fact that I skydive and is proud of me for continuing to reach for my goals in and out of this sport. sorry if this doesnt make sense, Im dealing with alot of things in my own life right now and your post just struck a nerve with me
  18. A friend of mine make custom earings, shes looking for a small charm of a skydiver in freefall to make into earings does anybody have a source for something like that? Just thought Id ask any help would be appreicated thanks
  19. Quade have a good time and be safe. IF you see Solly or Gary from Deland Majic Please tell them Chuck said hi. thanks
  20. unless the DZ staff stops him from jumping with that camera attached to his pumpkin, hes going to do it. The only good thing is, if others at the DZ with more experience are aware that hes not ready to be jumping with a camera they are not going to want him to film there jump. SOME young skydivers allow their ego to over-ride there ass and it sounds like thats going to be the case with this lad. I agree that the STA should have a chat with this fellow. If all else fails, protect yourself first!
  21. what are you looking to purchase? Im not directly familiar with that site but Ive ordered alot of gear on line lately. Perhaps I can recommend someone if I know what your looking for.
  22. in most states pointing a firearm at an unarmed person is called aggravated assault and is a felony. Farmer Mcnasty, COULD claim you are criminally trespassing by landing on his property, the problem with his claim is that, a crime requires INTENT to commit said crime. We dont ever intend to land anywhere other than on our intended landing area. Therefore a prosecutor wouldnt usually seek an indictment on the charge. If in the event, you were injuried subsequent to your landing, Farmer Mcnasty has a civil libality to compensate you for your injuries. However be advised that if farmer Mcnasty CAN prove that you intententionally landed on his property, in some states it is a FELONY to trespass on farm land. My suggestion is, in the unfortunate event that you are forced to land on the assholes property, and he either wants to prosecute you for trespassing or points a firearm at you, contact your local law enforcement agency and prosecute him for assault with a firearm. Additionally, if he attempts to make you leave your gear with him in order to egress from his property, thats called armed robbery,,,, you may want to remind the shithead of that
