I dont post a whole lot on here but I read post daily, Ive learned alot from what Ive read and I want to say thanks for some of the post Ive seen here. It seems alot of other people have the same questions I do. Anyway heres my question, Im going to Myrtle Beach for Bike Week in May, a much need escape from the entrapment of Spring Break here in Daytona! While Im there Id like to visit and make a few jumps at a DZ. Is anyone from the area? Is there a DZ close to Myrtle Beach? thanks again for your help.

heck if I know but it sounds reasonable to me.

I dunno, but if you say she is, then she is!

I have to agree with PLF, Ive grown up in Deland and spent alot of time at the DZ. I like everyone else enjoy jumping there. I firmly believe alot of the flack that is going on is the result of someones political connections in the city of Deland. I think its crap. The RV park is so far away from the hangers and the main portion of the airport, unless you go to the park you cant see it. But you know, every city has its "special intrest" issues Delands got the DZ the city of Sebastian is giving the DZ there a rash of shit, Daytona Beach is pissed off about the strip clubs no matter where you go its something. people just need to back off. Yea, I agree, piolts need to follow the safety rules. If there not, they should hold them accountable for their actions but they shouldnt give everybody a rash of shit because they are pissed off at the piolt. I think its an issue of the "big picture" but what do I know..........

hey I live here in deland so I made a couple of phone calls to help you out. EMILY the owner of jumpbubble has either gone out of business or sold the business. the NEW OWNER of the business is NANCY and the new name of the business is ouragan (its french for huricane). the new phone number is 386 747 5019. I called Nancy this morning she gave me her email its ouragan@tso-d.com she said she is in the process of getting patterns ready and will be taking orders within the next month. She said if you want to email her as soon as shes ready shell drop you an email and let you know. hope that helps!

just a thought, and its been mentioned before. spend the money and buy an pro dytter or something of that nature. You should not totally rely on one but if you screw up and loose altitude awareness it may just save your ass. Some of the best $$ Ive spent.

before my present job, I worked for a major trauma center and for a county ambulance company so I do have some idea of what I speak. If you have a patient with a full face helmet and you can remove the FACE SHIELD without moving the patient, do so. As a general rule, DO NOT remove the patients helmet. it MAY cause further spinal cord damage. If the patient is having difficulty breathing and is not conscious or has an apparent head injury, chances are the difficulty breathing is as a result of a closed head injury. removing the helmet will not do anything to improve the situation and as previously stated may cause further spinal injury. I do NOT recommend attempting to cut any portion of the helmet away, in MOST cases medical professionals will be arriving shortly let them deal with the helmet. THAT BEING SAID,,, there is an exception. If you have a patient, who is not breathing and you are willing to attempt rescue breathing (mouth to mouth) and CPR if necessary CAREFULLY remove the helmet. The accepted thought is this. If the patient is not breathing they are going to die, therefore the risk of spinal injury is outweighed by the impending loss of life. Im not really sure about other DZ's but Ive often wished DZ's would ad whats called an AMBU bag to their first aid kit. (an ambu bag is a face mask with a collapsable hard plastic bad attached you squeeze the bag and it forces air into the face mask and into the patients lungs via the mouth and nose) if youve ever watched ER and such youve seen them used. AN AMBU bag deletes the need to preform mouth to mouth rescue breathing on a patient and is safer for all involved. Just one last thought. If you are on the DZs when someone has an accident the MOST important thing to do, DONT PANIC. quickly call 911 and stay on the line till the dispatcher tells you its okay to hang up. MANY people get pissed at the 911 operators because they ask ALOT of questions. THEY ASK THEM FOR A REASON. The information you provide is relayed to responding crews and trauma centers. I hope this post helps answer any questions you may have if I can be of any help please let me know.

I just recently bought a audible. Im really happy with it. I used to spend alot of time looking back and fourth at my alti. My audible gives me a little more confidence to just enjoy my skydive and wait for the tones. Although an audible should never take the place of an altimeter especally for a newer skydiver I strongly believe in them

No snow here in Deland but its but Damn cold. This sucks..... yea I know all you folks up north are thinking "he needs to quit whinning" But this isnt funny anymore. I left Alaska for a reason. 36 damn degrees thats just cruel for us southern folk.

Not that its got a thing to do with skydiving but I just bought my first BRAND NEW vehicle. Its a 2002 Harley Davidson Classic. Its a pretty good feeling to have bought it, Ive wanted one for a long time. Anyway, I just thought Id share that with ya..... Do I owe BEER????

NASCAR---- Drive for hours to sit in traffic, pay at least 25.00 to park walk a mile to the gate only to be told "no you cant bring that cooler in to daytona international speedway". After paying over 100.00 (or more) for the pleasure of sitting on a metal seat less than 8 inches from the person next to you, you get to pay 5.00 for a beer. Watch the cars go vroom vroom vroom for a while, well that was fun. File back out of the track along with 500,000 other people, hike your semi-intoxicated (now broke) ass back to the car to sit in traffic for HOURS; in order to get back on the interstate to go home. NAAAAAAA, Ill skydive!!!!!!!! PS any of you who are comming to the race and want some idea of the best way to get around the Parking/traffic let me know I may be able to give you some advice of what to expect. PSS True statement, they are NOT allowing even medium size coolers in to the track this year due to security issues. Be prepared to have your property searched on the way in to the track. And remember there is ALWAYS skydive Deland!

I vote ya come on up to Deland as well, you could hit Sebastain, I love it there, its a great DZ. BUT if you looking to have a good time Deland will be the way to go first because there are some definite hotties that jump there (although everyone there is friendly and helpful) secondly, as far as night life goes; Youll be here right in the middle of Spring Break. Daytona Beach which is only about 20 min from the DZ. Your choice but either way be safe!

My first time, I was 16 years old. I had grown up around Skydive Deland. Every Sunday my father would go flying and I would go watch the skydivers. One day during the Ballon Races they had out there every year, a gentleman know to me as fang came up and started talking to me after he landed from a jump. We spoke for a while as he packed. When he finished he stood up and said, you ready to make a tandem? I told him that I wanted to but I couldnt afford it. His reply was thats not what I asked I asked if you wanted to go. I told him I did. He show me where Manifest was and told me to make sure I told them I was 18, when they asked me for ID he vouched for me. The next thing I knew I was skydiving!!! It took me 10 yrs to get back to do AFF but I kept that promise to myself. Fang introduced me to what the skydiving community was and still is all about and Ill never forget that. I understand that his life ended in a plane crash however Ive never found anyone to confirm that. Ive experienced many things in my fairly short life (Im 31 now) but none can replace what Ive gained through skydiving. It hard to explain what the skydiving lifestyle has done to me and for me. to say I am better for it will have to suffice

Jumpbubble has moved to Deland. They are very close to the DZ there. Try www.jumpbubble.com for more info. I just got a jumpsuit there last month and I cant say enough good things about it. The fit is perfect and the construction is superior. Good luck.

Stacy I live in Deland too and might be out at the DZ this weekend. From the replies to your post it might be fun to try to firm up some plans with everyone and meet out there Saturday or Saturday night. Anybody confirming that theyll be there yet? Stacy, if you decide to camp at the DZ Ive got a great tent and a sleeping back Ill be happy to loan ya. Im sure it would be more comfortable than the car. Let me know....

go to yahoo.com and do an advanced search for skydiving screen savers. I just did it and got a BUNCH of hits. You may want to try web shots.com maybe there is something there. Good luck

Emmie, I stayed at Sebastian over New Years Eve, it was my first time there and I had a GREAT time. The people were friendly and the DZ is beautiful. I felt really welcome there and I will go back again. The Showers did leave a bit to be desired, it wasnt so much the facilities, they were clean and well kept but the water there is not what I was used to. Im not sure if they have well water or City hook up but it is not the greatest. You can shower in it and its not really that bad, it just takes a little getting used to. Have a good time and Send me an email as to when youll be there, If I can get off a day Ill come down and buy ya a beer. If all else fails come up to Deland!

Are there any good instructional video on things like sit flying and head down? I know the best way to learn is to get some coaching jumps but I think by watching some good instrustional videos one can at least get an idea of what the coach is trying to teach. Thanks

merry christmas to all. dedicate your next skydive to those who are away from their families in the service of our country. Take a moment to remember those who have died fighting to preserve the freedom so many take for granted.

how about a link or at least the web site address.
