  1. The same goes for PAL cams in Europe, Asia, and the rest of known civilisation. Except we have 25 frames per second. The strobing can be slightly more pronounced due to the lower frame rate, hence people are more likely to go into convulsions when watching... 2. Hey Bryn, some helpful stuff from the British Mag's, website. http://www.zct.co.uk/skydivemag/pages/articles/apr96/jumpcamera.htm http://www.zct.co.uk/skydivemag/pages/articles/aug00/godigital.htm http://www.zct.co.uk/skydivemag/pages/articles/feb00/camera.htm http://www.zct.co.uk/skydivemag/pages/articles/jun01/reflecting.htm http://www.zct.co.uk/skydivemag/pages/articles/jun03/photographiceye.html http://www.zct.co.uk/skydivemag/pages/articles/april03/flyingeye.htm woof!

  4. Dave, get yourself off to one of the BPA roadshows and seek some guidance from a canopy coach. Speaking as someone who has bust himself from a radical low turn, you really don't want to be there in the first place, unless you know exactly what you are doing. Everything happens very fast, you won't have an awful lot of time to even know that you've fucked up, let alone think about initiating recovery procedures. That said its a whole lot easier to put your foot in your mouth here than it is to do it out on the field sometime. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 7. You'll have to render it to a compatible Pal avi file, then export from there. The pooter is stuttering because it is trying convert and play back at the same time. Here's what I might suggest, drop a clip onto the timeline, chop it down to something manageable, say 15-30 seconds. Set the project preferences to a file system compatible with your target deck/cam (probably click the preset called "paldv" or similar), and save the file as an avi. open a new project , then drop the new file onto the timeline and see if the result are acceptable. Its likley that they won't be as many of the files you download are compressed to hell, so when you blow them up to full res, they look shiitty. There will also probably be issues with frame rates, most downloads do not have a frame rate of 25 fps which PAL uses. The video might look jerky. In my mind this rigmarole simply isn't worth it as the final quality is pants. Your mileage may vary, good luck -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 8. "This is for copy protection purposes. " Aren't we also asking a bit much? The compression used for DVD is completely different from std DV avi data streams? Best bet might be to export via an SVHS and hose it onto a miniDV recorder/cam... But your gonna get generation loss. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 9. Its Remembrance day here, I think its Veteran's day across the pond. I think its pretty poor taste to be dissing any member of your/our/the armed forces today. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 10. First 'real plane' I ever jumped, Christmas /New year at Palatka way back in 93/94. I was impressed, but then I'd only ever seen a Cessna 182, and an Islander up to that point. I still like it. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 11. "How did I miss these all my life?" Ice cream (chocolate flavour), shaved chocolate (dark preferably) Ice Cointreau/drambuie/kahlua/middori/etc Blender. Blender nights, they are a great way to dispose of left over or obscure alcohol. I can't believe you've never made alcoholic milk shakes.. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 14. Can't get Shiner over here, great shame as its one of the best US beers I have tasted..... Mininac prefers Stella, he's sooo continental! Chuckie says he doesn't get a monkey number unless he comes over to party with him. So I've reserved a slot at the 'Skymonkeyone finishing school' -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 15. "Why does it say to fly the biplane to the left?" I wouldn't normally bother but seeing as its safety, and I'm all about safety....I'll repeat what I said earlier... "One thing to watch out for though..."If the side-by-side develops into a biplane, fly it as recommended to the left." instead of 'left' it should read "as described above for Biplane". Somethings don't translate directly from the printed page to a website." The original article was printed in the British Mag, where column layout etc was different to the web page. The instructions on how to fly a biplane were actually to the left of this statement.... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 22. Well I'm not young, and I started late, but 10 years ago when I was a fledgling, learning to jump at Palatka, I ran into this kid who was way too young to be jumping. He'd come down after an 8 way, then play hide and seek with the other kids. I recall being jealous as he had something like 1100 jumps and wasn't yet 12 years old.... It was Charlie Mullins. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "It just might be the most impressive formation I've seen in freefly." Somebody scan this for for us NAs When I first started playing with freeflying, I was attracted to the 3 dimensional element of the flight. I am kinda disppointed that we are taking a more traditional approach to building formations, IE on one plane. I think the 3D dives, complex hybrids, etc are much more pleasing to the eye. I don't see why FF should follow belly flyers in formation engineering. The flat headown bigways that I have seen still look awsome though! And still way beyond my skill level. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 24. "I don't think anyone has the right to censor or remove the post due to the Freedom of Information Act. " Okay, I'm not a lawyer, nor am I familiar with this piece of (American, I'm assuming, bear in mind that this is an international site) legislation. What I do know, and respect, is that HH has the right to remove whatever posts he, or his appointed moderators see fit. They (HH and the Greenies) don't have to maintain anyones post, and they don't have to justify their actions. See "terms" at the bottom of the page.... "We reserve the right to remove any content or cancel any membership without prior notice and without providing a reason." Seems clear enough to me. If Paul is uncomfortable with what people are posting here, at least try and support him in this role, and play fair. I reckon we maintain a pretty good resource here, and unlike other areas of the site, Paul seldom has to exercise his greenie super powers. Lets try and keep it that way. Besides, the original post was about snagging video from a copyrighted source, how would you like it of someone out there was ripping you off......I wouldn't really care, but then again, I'm not relying on any income from my video work to feed my kid, some of the guys out there are. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
