You will need to switch of all background applications, otherwise the defragger will restart everytime the disc is accessed. So get hold of 'enditall' (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,4149,697,00.asp), and switch off your screensaver. Pop open a cool one, it could take a while...... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "when was it you jumped with epco ??? remember a few names ? or where (which place exactly ) ? " 4 maybe 5 years ago, only name I remember is Andreas Nabe? Have they moved, I can't really remember the details, it was part of a huge road trip we did. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Yes, I jumped at EPCO a long time ago, very nice people, stunning scenery. Did I ask you for a gear check?
nacmacfeegle replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
"If the answer is no, then DON'T CHECK MY GEAR!!" Come to the UK, no gear check, no jump! Okay different situation to jump run pin checks (which everyone should learn how to give to themselves), but still, no signed up gear check at flightline, you don't get on the plane. And now people are taliking about checking bridle and reserve riser integrity on the flightline, which is even more fucked up! -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "You will need to add a 200 gig" Whatever for? On top of an 80 gig HD! Thats enough storage for over 800 skydives, or 30 DVDs. Dave, think about a basic spec pooter with firewire. You can get additional firwire storage, and even Firwire DVD burners if you need them. That way when it comes time to upgrade, you just sell the box. The biggest additional cost would be the software. Unless you know someone who might be able to help... Here's how I might manage this, have a stock leader all pre rendered, have stock titles to make it personal, have stock music. At a convenient moment in time, chuck the clients stuff onto the DVD then purge their footage, next customer please.....If someone wants to amass a huge amount of footage, say a 4 way team, or an outfit sucha s Deguello, then you could store there stuff comfortably, or stash it all on DV until they need it finalised. I just bought my mum a 'std spec' pooter off the shelf which would easily piss all this stuff out for 600 quid, and that included a TFT screen, add 200 quid for the DVD burner, and your ready to rock. There are about 1.4 bucks to the quid. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. You might have more luck asking over on the RW forum.... Yeah the count is important, you don't want to your chums to be boogieing without you, also from my old RW days, presentation (get your chest into the wind) is everything for the basic blob launches. Legs in or out can make a huge difference too, eg if diving legs up your ass, if floating, legs out full till the chunk stabilises etc, etc. each position has its own techniques, which can vary depending on aircraft too. Its good to find an exit slot that suits you and stick to it till you have that nailed. But like I said, the RW forum will probably answer your questions better than I can hope. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "so is that your new regular plane at St Andrews? lmao " Why, now you ask yes! Of course it is! Well you could probably fit the C185 in there...... For those who don't know, its normally the only plane at Vichy, well who would want a steenkin' Otter, or a ubiquitous LET when this badboy is on the pad waiting for you when you land? I heard this year's boogie was rocking. I'm looking forward to the video so I can vicariously recover my lost summer. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Its an Antonov AN72 jet, with a tailgate. They have one most years at Vichy for a boogie. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson

Sounds like dropped frames to me Gus, assuming the clip is at 25fps compatible with PAL. Try this. Put the clip on the timeline. Apply an innoccuos filter such as colour correction with minimal changes. Make sure the output is set up to deliver PAL DV in a format compatible with your capture card, cam etc.... Render it, or to save time, render the sections of the file that are 'corrupt', and see what happens. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. hoping i found a solution for premiere 6.5 and Windows XP
nacmacfeegle replied to Unutsch's topic in Photography and Video
Sorry this has gone a little cold John, I've been busy engineering big things! "I have heard this, so I did get a separate drive. However, I have yet to run into a problem using the system drive (Win2000) so I really don't know if this "problem" is mythical or real. I do keep my system drive defragged. " Its a real problem, especially with oder systems. My first setup was based around a PII 266, with 3 off 8.4 gig drives. It would not run (frames being dropped) if the project files etc were on the system HD. My laptop, a PIII 700 does not like it one little bit if I store project, preview or clip files on the system drive. Nowadays, with fast HDs, and fast processors the problem should not really manifest itself that often. Additionally, try and get hold of 'enditall' which switches off loads of background apps, this leaves your processor to do its thing in peace. If 'findfast' has been installed as part of MS Office, remove or disable it. Defragging the drives...if it works keep it up, I like to defrag at the start of a new project, or after a heavy or intensive edit session. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Good video editing and capturing program fro the PC?
nacmacfeegle replied to 321seeya's topic in Photography and Video
Most capture cards will need Windoze 98SE as a minimum. 98 did not have OHCI (USB Firewire etc) compatibility built in. I use Adobe Premiere, am very happy with it, for what its worth. But I would use whatever software comes with the capture card. Try the ADS PYRO series of cards. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. If its a commercial tape, say Willing To fly, Crosswind etc it may be protected. But yep plug two VCRs together and see what happens. Not all VCRs recognise macromedia either, so it might be worth experimenting. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "Footage comes out for a second then turns blank. " Sounds like Macromedia Copy protection doing its stuff. Hey its all good Justin, All the info above is from Dave Lesar, our current CEO. You now I've been quite outspken about our involvement in the Iraq situation, I was just trying to set things square with reasonable information. Next week I might be working Bechtel, Saipem, Woodside, Aker or Amec, and of course I will have an entrirely different viewpoint then! The only info from my own viewpoint was that gas is cheaper in Iraq than in Aberdeen......Which is without a doubt true! -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. I'm getting something similar. In this instance I tried to forward an e-mail, but failed. The message was.. "An error occured while sending your email: "Unable to send email. But we mustnt speculate as to their guilt. This was my point. It looks we can all agree to let our justice system do its thing, and try and avoid any lynch mob mentality meantime. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
