  1. I bust my femur and it took over two years to heal before I could jump again. I just kept setting goals and shifting the time scale. I also taught myself video editing and harvested footage from chums. This kept me in touch with the group of pals, and I could get a vicarious skydive hit. If you are going to be ground bound, you've got to have faith, determination, patience, but mostly faith. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 2. "The shells are at least 10 years old, and a U.S. Army official said he suspects the ordnance was surplus from the Iran-Iraq war in the mid-1980s." 'Gee, I thought he didn't have any?' Seems more archeology than technology though.... Indiana Jones and the Weapons Of Mass Destruction...if you will. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 3. Sorry, my bad. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson

  5. "Same with a C130 and 141" Word Ron, and add that huge prop wash to the mix for fun. But they ain't jets. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 6. This one? Yeah jump the AN 72 and you spend the first couple of seconds of the skydive slowing down...... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  7. "A kebab is not generally an evening meal!" Quite often its breakfast.........well the bits still stuck to the shirt are. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 8. "the whole place is layed out like its a street outside with little shop windows and the like. " Aye but there's no kebab shop. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 9. AN 72 regular jumpship at the Vichy boogie. Its my favourite all time jump plane. Its a shame that its not cleared for use in the US (I heard). -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 10. Mebbe better in the camera forum. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  11. Repostopyrophobia. Fear of repeat posting and subsequent flaming....... Nods respectfully at Ivan.... Missedapostophobia... Fear of missing important threads. Nods respectfully at Aggs. Pissedoffhonchoforkophobia.... Dread of having my dizzy account suspended. Nods, salutes, and humbly bows for Sangiro. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 12. Kill line PC with a retractible pin(I don't see a reason for jumping a non collapsible PC in this day and age). They are less flexible than 'free' pin bridles, so more prone to premmies if a portion of bridle floats or is moved around even a little. Sorry, should have made that clear.
  13. Eyes primarily. Ground getting big, being left all alone, deployment of previous groups etc. Audibles, two off. Body clock. Tells me to look at the alti. Analogue alti. Jumping camera I seldom look at my alti. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 14. Be careful if you want to go freeflying with one of those. I have one and changed it out a long time ago. I was worried about premature deplyoments. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  15. "I think 4 hours is unacceptably long to wait for any meal." But if you order your dinner at lunch time, and you know you won't get your meal in the middle of the afternoon...Is it such a big deal? To continue the analogy, would you rather have a Big Mac Mirage, or a Cordon Bleu Javelin.... Both will do the job if your hungry. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 16. Some pics from work, Northern North Sea, not all mine. was out before Chrimbo fixing some storm damge, will be out there again next week... BC is Brent Charlie, the lower deck is 23m above normal sea level. In the others I'm guessing soup is off the menu again..... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 17. "Maybe that's why our lander worked." Ah, I see what happened to the European missing to Mars. The Beagle must have used cheap plastic Lego, or even Duplo, as we are just new to the space thing.. D'oh!.
  18. When the dude builds your new pooter, keep te old one for post whoring, and other non-video work. Use the new one for editing only, and be careful what you put on it, eg Find Fast which comes with MS Office will slow up your system........ With the specs you have in mind, that should be able to run real time cards, if your taking this really seriously. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 19. That would be one of Chris Miller's new hats, haven't seen one up close yet. Howzit fit? Finish quality etc? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. 20. WooHoo, this means that 40 is the new 20....guess who is 40 this year? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  21. Och, the part of KBR I am currently with is full of cronyism, even down at my low level. But its not just KBR its the entire oil industry. If I were still with, say Mustang over in Houston, or Aker in Verdaal, I'd be laughing my ass off at all this. But I'm taking it all seriously as I am a man of negotiable loyalty when it comes to employment.
  22. You take it easy out there Hook. I'll miss ya. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  23. Mine doesn't do this, its DV300 (the wee one without the screen). There is software put there, but if you have lots of footage eg over 10 minutes, I'd be tempted to send it out, otherwise you could be pissing around for hours. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson
  24. 5 mins at around a gig is about right for full frame dv. If you need to burn to VCD or even SVCD I'd suggest using Tsunami to re-render all the footage to a suitable format. Get it free here...http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html The version I have used previously is earlier but it makes wee shiny discs just fine. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
