His Last Chapter "The Curse" I like the way he ended the book. I don't think we need to talk too much about how it ends - then we spoil it for all of those who are waiting for it to hit the shelves. I have this quirky habit - I will be reading a book and I like the way it is moving on and then I hit a chapter that doesn't hold my attention. I then go to the last chapter and read a few pages. This then spurs me on to read ALL of the book quickly or it becomes one of those books lying on my night stand that I finish reading just because I spent good money on it. After reading the last chapter - I couldn't wait to see how his investigation got him to this Rabbit Hole...perhaps we shouldn't spoil it for those who have not read it. His investigation pulls even a novice right along with him on his quest...I think this style will put it on the Best Seller List. Perhaps I enjoyed it because I know all the characters from this thread and liked finding more out about them. The causal readers will not quite grasp how he handles certain characters such a Jerry Thomas. Jerry does NOT see himself as others see him. Word of advise to Jerry - Deal with it. Me - hell, tell it the way it is. I am what I am...and I like myself. I don't care what other people think and if I did I would never have made it thru the last 15 yrs having to deal with the likes of you, Jerry Thomas. Me! It was just a hand written recipe on a small spiral note book page tucked inside of one the 2 books that Weber placed on my shelf in 1990. Totally insignificant unless it was written by Tina or one of her family members. It was found in the same book that had Tina's picture in it. Yes, I get emotional about all of this - because I was more attached to the subject...Duane Weber...he was my husband for 17 yrs. The rest of you and the writers are talking about an Uncle or friend or someone you researched, because he was a good suspect. Duane was my husband and I have done this for 15 yrs now. Duane confessed and all of the things he told me over the yrs and the things I HELD in my own hands and the things he showed me - THEY DON'T COUNT, because I can't prove them. Yet, the FBI can listen to EGO maniacs like JT whose own records do not speak well for him being a reliable source. I have a right to be emotional about this. All the others have been removed emotionally from their suspect. Please take that into consideration when I am no longer able to defend myself. How would you feel if it was your spouse who made a confession and how would you react when you have done the best you could do? I am not a writer or a professional researcher. I want the FBI to really look at Weber the way they should have looked at him 15 yrs ago. This was my husband - NOT someone I picked out of a magazine and I feel any widow who comes forward as I did should be treated respectfully by the FBI and the FBI should be able to do a face to face to explain HOW and show her what records where used to derive at any conclusions made. Since so many different agents have been involved during these 15 yrs - a different one for each witness they interviewed regarding Weber and then a different one for the different areas. One agent came to my home (1997), I took somethng to their office (1998), 2 agents picked up the DNA (2003) and 2 returned it in 2008 (one was rude and the other said nothing directly to me at all). The rookie didn't even know who Cooper was and it was obvious he had NO experience - he even left a paper in the box that was supposed to be removed. Over the yrs there have been multiple agents and the agent one deals with has desk agents. No one agent interacts with the informer or whatever they call me. Each time I would have to go over and over the same old things and by the time I got to the new stuff I was exhausted and my phone bill running up. It was a NO win situation from the beginning just as it has been with many of you on the thread. I tried to do the right thing 15 yrs ago...one agent could have done what I have done in one yr and then the FBI would not have spent the hundreds of thousands of dollars expended on Cooper for the last 15 yrs. Individual outside of the FBI have wasted time and money and lives consumed to sort out the multi-faceted information and often incorrect information made available by the FBI. Yet, Cooper has been sitting right infront of the FBI for 15 yrs and they looked right through him. The FBI didn't want my help - I wasn't suppose to contact ex-wives and ex-employers and interview old friends...but I did and only after I realized they had NOT contacted those who counted and approached those they did interview in such a way they feared incrimination. Since all most all of the agents where not well informed about the circumstances involving the subjects. They did NOT know the right questions to ask and would have been unable to recognize an untruth told to them by a subject. Those I could not approach the FBI never contacted...Tommy Gunn was one of them. WHY? WHY did the FBI not contact an individual who Duane had a past with as John Collins and this was a man Duane himself warned me about. WHY was the FBI not more through in their background search when 2 plus 2 was not adding up to 4. They never looked at the fact Duane had a brother and a sister living in CA and so much of what was originally looked at came out of CA. Why in 2000 when I question the McNeil file being used as a source for prints and yet having been told Duane was NOT in McNeil. Why didn't the FBI not check the prints when John Collins was in prison and his sentence commuted? There is something very very wrong with this picture. Duane and his wife where apprehended in Cleveland, Ohio but the FBI agent provided her with a ride back to Lawrence, Ks where she had family. What happened - why didn't they arrest him as Duane L. Weber - and she was using a different name (making her an accomplice after the fact). None of this makes any sense at all. She claimed she didn't know his name was Duane Weber until he was being released. Who dropped what ball and how many other balls have been dropped during this investigation. This all smells very FOUL. I have some other axes to grind right now - so you won't be seeing anymore lengthy posts from your truely, but I will press on for the truth for as long as I can. No tease, no book - just seeking the truth about Duane L. Weber and John C. Collins who is the only likely Cooper candidate at this time. The media attention right now has brought forth new information I hope is going to make the FBI take another very serious look at Weber. Because the FBI might have to admit their own inadequacies they might choose to ignore the new information. I hope not. For clarification purposes: Until Duane made the final decision to cease dalysis he had been in the hosptial for about 2 wks. He had refuse dialysis twice that week and this is when the Dr and his nurse and the Hosp Administrator went to see him When I entered the room he asked me if I had the briefcase which he had instructed me to keep with me at all times. This when he provided them with the documents. He told the Dr to look at the date the documents had been signed - 1990 - when he first started treatment. I was unaware of these documents until at that moment. The Dr. was very direct with both of us and told us without intervention he would die in about 5 days a wk. Duane would live for 11 days after that decision. It was right after the Dr had left that he wanted me to be sure there was NO one in the room because the door was not visible from where his bed was. This is when he told me He was Dan Cooper. When he could NOT make me understand who Dan Cooper was - he got angery and shouted "Oh, F---, Let it die with me." Grey talks about the results of some tests done by Georger and T kaye. I do not understand those test results and the controversary over them. I would like to know if the Windows of the Boeing 727's have this same chemical or element in them as the other parts of the plane and for the two of them to remember who provided the paint for the 727's - Sherwin Williams Chemicals out of Chicago. Georger and Kaye seem to forget that I mention Duane claimed to have put $$$ in a bucket and couldn't find the bucket (said under morpine in the hospital after he told me he was Dan Cooooper). Would old buckets made of plastic or metal having contained feed, fertilizer, construction, plumbing and pipe works have this chemical? Blevins stated out of frustration and utter exhaustion how he felt about Jerry's onslaughter of posts spouting off how connected he is to the Agent of record and how much he knows the post below: I thought they had checked his prints, but so much gets said in the thread it is hard to keep up with who said what. Love the baloney part and what a nice polite way to say "Shove It Jerry". Geoffry's book played it right down the middle. Even though he was responsible for introducing KC to the world he managed to be very objective and it actually is funny in places considering it is an unsolved crime? Well, noted. I think perhaps her notations were handled well by those who did address her - "issues". Geoffrey Greys book actually was very well written compared to other books about Cooper. It was easy to follow and it was funny and it was perplexing. It was an investigative book, but one that will be read as a Novel by many and it will stand the test of time. It certainly was NOT boring. The last chapter is hilarious especially when you know all of the characters. Those not as connected to the Cooper case as many are will not grasp the forces that drive the characters (all real people) to do what they do. What is interesting is Grey gets sucked into the Rabbit Hole. When all the research is done and the subjects are explored, he ends this book with what may well be an untold truth. The Curse of Cooper. It was funny how he crawled into the Rabbit Hole himself, but that is what it takes when you write about real people trying to find answers for real mysteries. You go where they went and hope you find your way out...or at least survive to write another book. I believe this book will be one of many others to come. I do NOT know who is burying who, but Blevins is digging a hole so deep he won't be able to crawl out of it when the truth comes down. Kenny was NOT Cooper. Perhaps Geestmen had a secret also - maybe he wasn't gay and maybe there were worst things than being gay in those days...especially if you didn't share it with your wife. There are somethings people do in their lives - they just do NOT want their children to know about. I expect I know what Geestman is hiding and it has nothing to do with his wife, but what his children would think of him if they knew the truth. I have not read Geoffry's book but I am being told some of what is in that book. Wavy or curly hair? The FBI never said one way or another but the pictures showed straight hair. Seems as though Geoffry questioned a witness a little more than the FBI did. The dark brown suit has become another color and the lapels wider. He also stated the stems on Coopers glasses where very thick. I do NOT know why Duane wore such heavy stemmed glasses - other than they may have been the style or they were cheap frames. The heavy stems pushed his ears down and that is what we see with the enlargement of the Canon intake photo in 1960. The release photo he is NOT wearing glasses and his ears appear for the most part very normal in proportion to his other features. I never knew that mean looking pointy eared person in the intake photo with a frown that spelled trouble.. Green has shown a picture of the ankle boots which was Duane's shoe of choice. I guess others might call them ankle shoes. Tina was only 22 yrs old and she is the one to identify the shoes. Mitchell the college student who was the last person to move from the 2ed class to the forward cabin - told me about seeing something sticking out below Coopers pants - he did NOT say shoes and we did NOT discuss the shoes. Mitchell told me he thought it might have been long underwear...he did not mention a color. The socks Duane always wore where high socks and knee highs. Duane also wore long johns in the winter. If Grey's information is accurate this is starting to look more and more like Weber... was Cooper. All I know is what has been showing up in articles pertaining to the book. I do NOT have a clue what he wrote about me or Weber. The 21 questions I sent to the FBI really need to be answered. Also Jerry needed to show documents regarding his claim. Let's face it if his story was true the FBI would have metioned that very early on in the investigation of Duane Weber. The FBI really needs to find out who mentioned Books their relative left on the plane and tell them about what REALLY happened to those books. They were not returned or placed into evidence. Maybe Cooper touched those books - and one of them touched his heart and he took it with him! Was Tina or another passenger on their way to a Thanksgiving dinner with family and carried these book for reference? Maybe the individual had gone to an early Thanksgiving with family members and they were gifts to that person. One of the books originated out of the N.E. and the other one was specifically the N.W. so we have North East meeting North West for a Thanksgiving dinner...What a Smorgasbord that must have been. By the way Duane's mother used to cook for a Smorgasbord in Ohio. She died in 1958 long before this book was ever published. Cooper was very careful to retrieve his note from Shaffner and therefore he would have been just as cautious about leaving any prints at all. Why would he do that (because his prints where a matter of record or so he thought). He had a criminal background. What does NOT make sense is the FBI claiming the McNeil prints are the Prints of Duane L. Weber and yet they also denied he was ever in McNeil in the yr. 2000, until I was adamant he was and I was holding the government record of this incarceration. So what is it? Was there a foul up in the prints of Duane Weber that have been used. If Duane Weber's prints where on file when he was arrested in 1966 as John C. Collins and sentenced to the Jefferson Federal prison...why did he not serve his term as Duane L. Weber and why was his commutation of sentence given to John C. Collins in 1968? Since the FBI went to CO looking for WEBER not long after that - I have lots of ominous theories about why the FBI or CIA was looking for him. If Weber had commited another crime - HOW and WHY was he able to evade the law? Bear in mind they went looking for him in late 1968 and this is when the wife and Duane fled to N.Orleans with her kids in toe. He was living and working as Duane L. Weber - he was NOT hiding. Why did Weber run? The FBI went to CO looing for Duane L. Weber - not John C. Collins. We can run lots of theories about the hows and whys, but I suspected in 2000 a print error. I do KNOW the FBI refused adamantly to provide me with the Jefferson information. I have an email and note of phone calls with Jefferson - and then suddenly the young lady who told me certain individuals did reside as residents (1966-1968) suddenly was no long there. I guess prisons have turn overs just like the FBI - and one doesn't know what the other agent knew. After that I had to deal with the FBI and the prison could not communicate with me as they had before. The government knew I needed those records to draw his SS under John Collins. Too damn many unanswered questions! Everything is very quiet in Cooper World right now - because Grey's book must have thrown some other stuff out there or maybe everyone is reading his book instead of posting. I hope I have one by tomorrow...and then I will find out how bad he made Weber look or how bad he made me look and how he treated all of the subjects. Jerry it is simple to prove me wrong. IF you can accuse me of lieing - show your proof (ask your buddies at the FBI office who you claim to visit and sit down with) to prove with documentation that what you are saying is the the truth. You will claim the following: Perhap I mis-heard or mis-understood them! That is classified information! None of those are acceptable explanations...because you claim a connection with the FBI you do NOT have. If the FBI had any documents that would put Duane in a jail on Nov. 24, 1971 - they would have been presented yrs ago. The FBI would not have collected DNA in 2003 nor would they have tested that DNA in 2007. You are very very disconnected Jerry. Perhaps you need to go back to the VA hospital and get more treatments! There is no bigger fool than someone who claims he works with the FBI and has knowledge only the FBI has. Jerry you are the one who claimed Duane was in Jail Nov 25, 1971. You made a FOOL out of yourself - perhaps you had better talk to your informer - within the FBI. Until you do this and have written comfirmations in you own hands which you can publish...it is very advisable you refrain from making such statements. Yes, Jerry there are errors that can be made that screw things up, but Quade usually finds them and fixes them if we do not find our own mistake rather quickly. If someone told you how this was done - you would make sure the Thread was screwed up everyday. Things like that will get you BANNED for ever just like Snowmman. Ankle boots versus ankle shoes. The picture you posted was the shoe of choice for Weber until the day he died. Duane did own a pair that came to the height of regular lace up shoes...these I NEVER saw him wear and they were some designer name which I do not remember. No one was ever able to find a picture of those. They had a lizard like grain in them and they were a rich blackish mahoney color. Would go with maroon, brown, black or just about anything other than gray...just I personally would not have worn that color with gray. I haven't receive Geoffrey's book yet, but understand one is in the mail to me. On a web site I was able to pull up a few things. I am puzzled how he found witnesses like the paint store owner who stated the color of the suit and the lapels being wider. This same witness mentions wavy hair as does the other stewardess who was never very public saying Cooper's hair was wavy. The description get more and more convoluted all of the time. I had 4 conversations on the phone since I got up this morning. The attitude of these parties is even more confusing. #1. Was polite, but the voice had a different sound in attitude toward me I have not heard before. It was NOT derogatory or repetitive. #2. Presented an attitude I had not heard from this person in the past. I wanted this person to know that I am going to play my last cards very soon. NOT on this thread, but in a sutle way I am going to produce what I think puts Weber on the plane. #3. This individual has always believed "my story" - perhaps because I presented most of it prior to ever reading books about Cooper or knowing any details about the crime other than what was in a book of mostly fiction I was reading the night I called the FBI in 1996. Things that have now been discussed and written about in books and articles and threads everywhere. Yet, I spoke of these thing in 1996. Since 1996 these "things" never went away and some of it would be impossible for me to "make-up" as I told them to the FBI during that 1st yr and I told them to friends and family. Much of this was recorded (me talking to myself and trying to reason with everything on a tape). #4. Just a friend who has been there to listen when I need to talk about Cooper, but my 21 questions caused her to rethink the things she and I have discussed over the yrs. She offered a suggestion I have often thought about, but never allowed myself to actually follow thru with. My own take at this moment: Indeed, the FBI needs to address those 21 question which I was told could easily be reduce to 12 questions (seems I addressed the same subject in different ways in more than one question). Always been that way - repeat and repeat, but ask the question a different way and the person might provide different answers...has worked before even on the FBI. Those 21 questions were not only for this thread, but all who have known me over the yrs and those involved in the Cooper story over the yrs.,,this included the FBI and other government agencies and media personnel I have spoke with over the yrs. Cooper will no longer hold me hostage. Cooper destroyed many lives, but he never forgot what a 22 yrs old taught him...and he really tried to be the best he could be. YOU are saying anyone can write anything about anyone with no consequences. That a man can lie to individuals and those individuals can write this as fact when it is a lie. How did McCoys wife sue Calame? They told a lies that implicated her - and made other untruths about McCoy. This man has been told what he claimed was investigated and yet he keeps right on claiming Weber was in jail during Nov of 1971...he does everything he can do to discount the truths. Prove Duane was NOT Cooper without a lie - the same way I am trying to prove he was Cooper by telling the truth. Explain to me why Pat91 who does not give a location or Identify herself would accuse me of making money on this or accuse me of being a Redneck Lair. She has never spoke to me or been in my home - she could not understand what you tried to explain to her about the statue of limitations and this person can call me names in this thread. REDNECK is an insult and show me where I have made any money off of this. It has cost me my health and cost me in income - it destroyed my career, because it was based on trust. Don't call individuals who have made themselves vunerable to others by coming forward - this is the very reason Cooper will never be found. I came forward only after 5 yrs of talking to the FBI and I have never asked for one dime and I have never taken one dime. I am not in the classification with Marla Cooper who already had a book going before she even went public. I am a real person with a real life that was basically destroyed by Cooper. Identify yourself or delete your post calling me a name NO one has EVER CALLED me. To call me something like that is not acceptable. WHY DON't you expose yourself. You yourself do NOT understand a simple law about the statues -the fact that Himmelsbach made sure if ever Cooper was known he would go to prison - that he could not benefit from coming forward or get off due to statue of limitations. This person claimed Duane was in Jail in GA on Nov 24 1971, I contacted the county and the state offices. A very nice woman assisted me and the things this man told me are NOT true. Now he is making statements to writers and others. Yrs ago - by phone and by email I contacted every county and city facility Duane could have been in - these authorities who helped me found NO record of Duane L. Weber or John C. Collins being in a county jail or city jail at that time. Some of this is emails. Duane's employers had told me they did NOT know where Duane was. Duane and I (as a team)never worked starting a wk before Thanksgiving and until the 2ed wk of January. We delivered policies, but people were NOT talking about buying insurance during the Holidays (this is a known fact in commissioned insurance sales). You make your money and get the business into underwriting so there will be sufficient income produced during Dec and Jan to substain your income. For those who do not know what underwriting is - that is a process sometimes requiring a physical to get a policy to issue. It may be declined or issued with a rate-up if underwriting finds a reason to do so...such as health or employment. In other words when one depends on commissioned sales you made sure you had enough "paper" in underwriting for those months to substain your income. This contributor mentioned this a couple of wks ago and just yesterday I found out he was still telling his tale - even after I produced county and city records that indicated otherwise. I am making it known that anyone publishing a book and or article repeating the claim this man made without showing evidence -( county or city records indicating it was true) - will be sued...and the man who stated made this claim will be sued. A statement like that is a serious allegation and any responsible writer would validate it before using in a book or article. It is slander by the man making the claim. Simply math here - if the FBI had proof Duane was in jail - I would have been informed of that. Tommy Bartlett ,in 1970, got a demo contract with the Calgary Stampede in Alberta, and John Coppe, Roger, Skip Stevenson, and I jumped into the center of the stadium for a week. Opening day, I did a stand-up on the stage next to Tommy who was announcing. A few years later, I spent the winter months in Florida and trained and jumpmastered a friend at Indiantown. I still keep in touch with John Coppe, and he sent me a Christmas letter with a picture of him and your daughters, who I remember as kids packing chutes for money. I guess we have entered geezerhood. Yes, Your Hunkyness - that was a great poster - the best! It makes the history of the stairwells a LITTLE more acceptable to all of the DORKS who think - Cooper worked at Boeing or that Cooper's grude had to do with Boeing. That particular plane just happened to suit the needs of the jumper and it was available in the area he chose on that day in 1971. Cooper chose WA state because it was NOT as accessible to law enforcement - making it easier for him to run and to hide (if he survived). Also - he knew the area very very well - like the back of his hand. He didn't need a map to know where he was when he got on the ground. This little discussed fact was essential to his survival if he made it to the ground alive. His history with the area was not RECENT - meaning someone might not recognize him. HAS anyone ever wondered why the stewardess had to come out and get their LAST passenger? Have ALL of you forgotten this one very very important fact? Was Cooper thinking about backing out? Was he watching baggage being loaded on that plane or another plane? Was Cooper boarding last, part of a Plan - if so it was a poorly thought out plan? The passengers where so busy getting themselves seated and their possession stowed they paid no attention to that last passenger who boarded and who walked right past all of them. Did Cooper act normal during that boarding process? I think not. Has anyone ever thought about this - Cooper didn't expect to survive and he was scared. When the money actually arrived he got Giddy - then he had to finish what he started. I think this is when the REAL fear stepped in. I think Tina saw the FEAR in his eyes. Tina had already learned enough about this man - to know he was "very SAD man". Cooper was suicidal. When their eyes made contact after the money arrived - she saw in his eyes what I now know and understand about Duane Weber - a man whose youth and future was compromised by the system. He had no HOPE. Tina's faith guided her to make the only decision her faith and her religion would allow her to process. She went through the process of the ID's and the questions the FBI kept asking, but in 1979 - she knew Cooper was well and alive, but he had NO idea his visit to the N.W. would shatter her world. (slow typer) That is not the one I was talking about - because I did get involved in a discussion about Pyramid Lake some place else. Yes, I did put out enquires about the area, but only to enquire about the story Duane told me - I was hoping to find a jump background for Duane in that area - SINCE it was one time when he mentions parachutes and know a guy who was a jumper. Note I was enquiring about this in 2007. I asked the FBI about it from get go - 1997. I have also enquried about this in other places. Duane and Chutes and a man. That is what I know about the area. Something left me with the impression the man was part Indian, he live in a house there and they used to jump - East of the lake. I thought surely the population there in the 40's and 50's and 60's would not be large. I made many enquires to businesses in the area - but no answers. Most where not there in the above time frame.
