On one of the reports it states: "Gutt said the new lead is also promising because of the way it came to the FBI. . Only after the FBI contacted the witness directly did the person discuss the Cooper case with investigators. Theyre not seeking attention." Guff said "To the contrary, they're looking to avoid it"". You do know I contacted the FBI one yrs and 2 months after Duane die. I called him in them in late May 1996. I did NOT go public until 2000 whent the FBI LIED to me about Duane's criminal record and service record. THAT made me mad and I called the man who had done a lot of research for me and said "Lets do it". 5 yrs? Does that sound like some one who was wanting media attention. I have also stayed out of the media since 2001 and continued to spend my own money and time for research. So all of this shit the woman agent is tooting - is irrelevant. She has NO idea what the true story is about me or Duane. Duane had a connection with the Northwest - but the FBI didn't go find it - I did. Using others and then myself - around 10K. to do this. We even found a picture of him at a smokejumper camp, but with no name. We have been unable to acquire the orginals or to get a name list for that time period. The FBI wants to cover this up - it was 4 yrs before the tie appeared - how does a something like this hide for 4 yrs? I think some people have ROCKS in their heads for BRAINS. NO one ever explained where that tie was for 4 yrs. Mr. Know it all Nickleson - you were wrong about the numbers after the army and navy numbers - how much more are you wrong about. Several yrs ago an attorney out of Maine contacted me about a widow who supposedly lived in MS, but had family in Maine. She thought her husband was Cooper. I offered to meet with her in Ms or near-by and to talk since I also have been where she was. No other information about her husband was shared. This is about the sum total of what I know about this suspect above. Because the FBI mention East Coast - this could be one possibility. Because they mention former Law enforcement - this is cause for me to go back to MN and the Vocks case and the cold case agent there - but everything is speculation at this time. As for the prints and DNA - frankly I do NOT think the FBI has anything they can actually claim will ID Cooper. Frankly I would like to know the name of the person and why the family (if there is a family) thinks he is Cooper. The only things I have heard is he supposedly had an auto accident in 1971 - this was supposed to cover up his injuries. He supposely played the guitar as a guitar string was offered as a source of prints. (this made me think MN again and Vocks and Jason (0oops sorry he calls himself Jamie). How could a man live to be as old as Cooper would have had to be without there being a source of his prints some place or some where? The FBI has always maintained the prints are only particial prints, but perhaps science has been able to do something to enhance the evidence they have. As for cigarrette butts - have they magically re-appeared after having been lost for over 30 yrs? What reason did this person come forward about their relative or friend? Did he confess? Did he tell someone? What evidence do they have or have they seen that says this person is Cooper? Remember I held the Ticket, a parking stub, the bank bag and Duane Weber did confess to being Dan Coooooper. I expect this subject is no more viable than all of the others. If none of the "evidence" is viable - how could they rule anyone out unless they can put that subject in a jail? The problem is the FBI is grabbing at straws to end this or at least to have a last Hurrah with the public before they close the doors on this case on the 40th. The FBI is trying to salvage their inept investigation of this case. The FBI has NEVER presented me a widow whose husband told her he was Cooper and who held the evidence her own hands - with any proof the husband Duane L. Weber was NOT Cooper. That is a very very HARD pill to swallow. NOT one thing have they ever provided to me to prove this and I only heard it on TV. They sent me a letter in 1998 - before they even investigated him. Remember they told me things in 2000 that were incorrect and I was holding GOVERNMENT documentation that said differently. The would again look at Weber when they supposedly isolated some DNA, but I never received any written documentation on that. All I got to talk to was an FBI Agent who used the Cooper case to try to MAKE a name for himself and because I recognized him for what he was I was black balled. NOT one explanation have I ever received about the evidence which they claimed excused (not excluded) Weber. NOT one piece of information. Information that might have allowed me to move on with my life and not compromise these last 15 yrs in a manner that was life altering. ALL I ever asked of the FBI was to KNOW and see WHAT they had that convinced them Weber was NOT Cooper. I have presented in this thread the information about Weber that convinced me he was Cooper. Information that never got to the desk of the FBI - WHY? I will answer that one - the turn-over in Agents and their having NO knowledge that the information was accumulative on my part. As family members and other opened up about Duane - the FBI had already formuated its opinion based on one agent. Therefore other agents never realized I was continuely offering new information as Family and Friends of Duane told me things they never told the FBI. Also through this thread and other friends who reached out to help me with the investigative skills they possessed, I would learn much much more about Duane L. Weber. Things the FBI never had knowledge of. After Weber's family died the FBI did NOT pursue the files left by the brother nor did they ever make an attempt of research Duane's missing yrs. If they did they NEVER shared it with the widow - so she could move on. If they have NO more information about Cooper than they had 15 yrs ago - Why would the FBI even make a public statement to media and foreign magazine about a suspect until they had RULED that suspect out. I did NOT go public until 2 yrs later (2001)- and only because [the FBI offered me nothing and then LIED to me...about Duane's criminal background and military background. I then decided it was time to go public and that is what I did - ALL I wanted was for the FBI to be honest, but that was beyond their capabilities and not within the common decency codes of life. The deception of the FBI is typical of the Deceptions of the American Government. There is NO longer justice in America - it is all about Notoriety and deception and war. Beats me - the stress has really taken it toll on my. My health, my car and now this. I will try to figure out what I was saying in that post - but I doubt even I can decipher what my brain was doing at that time. I know my blood pressure went OFF the wall and now I am taking some medication I had on hand. Decoded: Give it a few days and lets see what happens. I frankly think they aught to explore something mailed to the L.A. Time on Dec 14th Dec. 1971. It was Dec 14 and Duane was on the East Coast near his sisters home. This was a plea for the authorities to find him. The code provided the message they would have to decipher and then they would know who he was. All the code was - was his Army and Navy number done with a reverse smilies. July (the final day of service) was the turn around number and then the 2 eyes on each side of the QA also reversed but this became the eyes. His life afer that July date turned him to criminal activities to find sources of income - he was blaming them for his criminal life. I wonder if the LA Times or the FBI kept the note and the envelope it came in. The DNA on the envelop maybe Coopers or the woman who was with him at that time after the crime. This woman had a daughter who maintained to me that she KNEW Weber was Cooper. In this same conversation she talked about a child she had when she was 16 yrs old. The father was given custody of that child, but the female familia gene would exist in the child and match the DNA. She had 2 other childern who would have the same female familia genes. The familia gens may mactch those of Jame (Jason) Cooper. She even name one of her other sons Jason because she like the name. The father agreed to keep the name of the child as Jason...it was her only request when she signed custody over. Her last child bears an uncanny resemblance to our own Jason or Jamie as he belligerently demanded I call him in the thread. Perhaps Duane was using the name of Duane Ross. The Duane could and was spelled multiple ways.. I still have a gut feeling this is all coming out of MN and CA. You are right Smokin99 - I am not doing to well. I am bearly functioning because of other issues and the secrecy of the FBI and their interviews with book writer and foreigners has not helped. The FBI never ever provided me with anything - and that is just NO fair. I have had a friend call me because the media is looking for me. As all of you know I have stayed out of the media and will do so on this - BUT, I feel the FBI owes me some explanations. They at least OWE me an explanation.....regarding the SECRECY that surrounded Duane's military and prison record. Now that is just like the FBI - they go and talk to a London Paper before they even reveal it within the US. "It comes from a credible lead who came to our attention recently via a law enforcement colleague," she said. "The credible lead is somebody whose possible connection to the hijacker is strong," Dietrich told the Daily Telegraph. "And the suspect is not a name that's come up before." I am going to take a gamble on something. These names will probably be involved in the end game. Steaxxx Petersen (not Sheridan) Kneustel ( Spelling uncertian) Elliott Feixxxxxxxx Engxxxxxxx Cooper Thrasxxxx Bafxxxx Hanxxxx Wexxxx Lloxxx Could be suspect or connected to suspect. I feel positive it was someone involved in Missoula or McCall in 1947 to 1950 and smoke jumper activies who became CIA or covert. Weber was at Missoula or McCall but not under that name. Kickers from both went to Laos and to Latin America. May have worked in a parachute loft - packing and repairing chutes...the radio shop was in the parachute loft. I was careful to only give the first few letters of the name and those I did name we have heard before....I do NOT expect the "name" of the suspect to be Weber, Christiansen or Gossett. I firmly believe he was connected to Missoula and why he chose that flight since it had just come out of Missoula. I still think it is unethical for a FBI agent to discuss - details with writers BEFORE they divulge information to the public via England. For all we know it could be Vickies dad - but he had Hazel eyes just as Christiansen had. Wait and see - they have presented suspects before that did no pan out. You will find it was a Cold Case worker out of MN and whose initials are DB, but that is just a co-incidence. As for my phone bill - I have unlimited long distance and the FBI does NOT even take my calls - I gave up calling when I found they went to a recorder that didn't record anything I said. As for my cell I don't even know how to read the mail - so I just delete them. I use the cell only for travel and emergencies. There has been an attorney out of Maine (if my memory serves me right) who has a suspect and the man has investigated the suspect for many yrs. I have emails going back over 6 yrs with this man. His last name starts with S. He never told me who his suspect was but that the wife believe her husband was Cooper. She supposedly live in MS but had family in Maine. Also Maybe Geoffry was able to did up Max Gunthers old files. If so and they found DNA belonging to the Wife of the time whose DNA will have a familial connection to Jamie's DNA...since that would be his Grandmother. Jamie has been the only person who I ever tried to match to this only because he resembles one of the 1/2 brothers and his birthday and the fact his story takes place in the same area - Duane and his wife had friends. Also the wife of the day had told me about Vocks and Duane had told me about Vocks before Jamie was ever known to me. His Birthday was what pulled the 2 things together if they are even connected. I even thought about Jamie being a plant for Knoss, because Knoss knew about the Vocks story. Why I never pursued Jamie after he left. Not a Gambling Woman, but I will state some odds and what I think is going on. This is going to come down to a man out of MN with the initials of D.B. (just a co-incidence this cold case investigator's initials are D.B.). Perhaps Duane and Margerite Ross? He told me that these individuals actually existed and resided in the area for yrs. Yet, I was unable to shake the feeling the Vocks murder was some how connected to the past of Weber. Ross is a name from Duane's past and was current during the the time of the murder. Remember when Jamie was here - I kept trying to get him to do new DNA tests for a reason and I even offered to pay for the DNA tests. Remember how mad he got at me when he thought I was suggesting his mother was not his mother. This was not where I was going. Remember that his birthdate was the birthday of a child I had tried desperately to find over the yrs.. Why? Because a step-daughter of Duane's had a baby they "gave" away. In those days you could sign custody over to the father and I felt that Jamie's father was the father of this child and the child was Jason. There are two 1/2 siblings that were also willing to provide DNA at my expense to compare with Jamie's DNA to find out if they all had the same mother. I needed a different DNA from Jamie other than what he provided in the thread. He refused to answer any of my emails after I made the offer. All of this may have NO connections at all. If this is the new suspect the FBI has - then the above DNA's will establish a relationship between Weber and his father. Also he might find a whole new family out there he didn't know he had. I got a call this morning regarding the news release, but have found nothing other than what you guys posted in the thread. Until I have read an actual article or know exactly what the FBI has - I hold with reservation. My blood pressure which normally reads very low at 115/66 w/ a P 58 was OFF the wall. The reading 3 hours ago was 158/83 with a P of 99...that is heart attack time for me. It has taken a tranquilizer to bring it down. Todays younger society has a warped sense of caring. No one checks on their elderly neighbors or even offers to help them out once in awhile. How so Typical of this generation that borrows and borrows and expects their parents and grandparent or Uncle Sam to support them. When I had my surgery - I drove myself over the night before and then stayed in a hotel for 2 days after I was released. Not one of them offered to take me over or pick me up - it was not the matter of a $50 cab ride each way - who wants to let a cabbie know you are going to be in the hospital for a few days? The FBI and the writers are so disconnected to Cooper they would not be able to ID Cooper if they had a signed confession and physical evidence put in their hands. Well, I can't produce a signed confession, but the FBI could help facilitate a statement of evidence if they had the inclination to solve the case. I am not going to bother to explain what I am talking about - no one GETS it anyway. Getting old is hell because there comes a time when you have to give things up. Well, I am not giving up the search for the truth about Weber, until I get equal time face to face with the Seattle FBI agent of record - Eng. I also want access to everything others have been given access to. Plus I want to see the records on Duane Weber - all of them and in detail. When we have viewed the files and ask our immediate questions a second interview will be required. After the interview and our having discussed among ourselves the things the FBI agent tells us, a second interview to address any question we have and this gives Eng time to address the questions we produce in the 1st interview. I say "we" because of my age now I am not as sharp as I would need to be to go up against the FBI and to compete with the abililties of a writer to throw timely questions out. On the thread I can go back and edit my post - but you have to be thinking on your feet when you talk to someone in person. This is fair. There have been mulitple interviews between the FBI agent and the writer...so we won't be getting Equal Time. I believe the director of the FBI would be appalled to know this agent has sat with writers, but never spoke to one of the pricipals regarding a subject. Well, I guess a girl can dream! As one gets older the you dream more and nightmares just don't exist anymore. PS I have been quiet on certain issues because I just let themselves play out over the last few yrs - but, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH when it comes to the FBI and their actions regarding me and yet, open the doors to the media. That is appalling and it is unethical. It is time for me to take a final stand and I will do so...I won't be around to see how it plays out, but maybe I will be able to live out my last days in peace, knowing I have done all I could do. Today is a SAD DAY. I pulled out some CD's to play and put on a Bing Crosby. I kept listening and - WAS 100% sure that WAS not Bing. Sure enough - what was in the container was a Frank Sinatra CD. This was songs Duane used to sing...and one reason it got my attention. I searched thru my covers and never found the cover for this CD...I did not remember owning this CD although I have LP of this. Listening to the songs - I started to cry because it has been a bad 30 days for me. I feel terrible and there have been so many problems regarding my health and the not being able to deal with Geeko (deliberately mispelled) who was the insurer of the other party. Life seems so unfair. The FBI providing lengthy private multi interviews to writers with their own subjects is more than I am able to handle. This is typical of the "new" FBI...they are all qeeks who think it is all done by computer and not dealing one on one with witnesses. When an FBI agent does things like this - it is just unacceptable. Don't they realize this man will use the interviews in his book or do they NOT know he is a writer. I don't get it. At any rate the FBI needs to cease this kind of activity. If they can NOT provide a widow with documentations regarding the investigation of her husband then they don't need to be talking about the case to writers of books. There seems to be something very very unethethical about this. Unless someone can give me a good explanation for their actions I am making a FORMAL complaint to the agent's superior and the director of the FBI. If the agent cannot talk to the wife of a subject then they do NOT need to be disclosing information to a writer about his subject or other subjects....I need answers. In other words I am at the breaking point and my knowledge of the 'exchange'' with a writer and the FBI are more than I can handle. I have been aware of this for a couple of yrs, but now seems to be the time to address it. When The Puppet Master has tired of playing with his puppets he puts them in a trunk and stores them in the attic. Exactly what I have requested from the FBI for 15 yrs...and no DICE. By the way I was NOT in any way referring to the London guy, I had forgot all about him. Yet, he is another person who was granted an interview by the FBI. There are others who for some strange reason get "lots" of time with the FBI and I just do NOT understand this. Is it because I can't provide them with a place in a book or a movie? There is NO reason for the FBI to preference other individuals with suspects over another for one on one interviews. Especially if the suspect is no more suspect than Weber or whoever. I don't even ask for 100 percent proof like you do - but I do NEED to know what they base the dismissal of Weber on. It needs to be definitive - and perhaps the agent of record doesn't know that the FBI never explained anything about Duane to me. The only thing was told was just Carron his cell on the way to a TV interview. What he told me is NOT what was released to the media. I wrote it down and I have never forgot it. Multiple particial dna's! I want him to meet with me eye to eye as he has with writers and tell me WHY Duane could NOT be Cooper. I want to see a detailed report on the DNA. Such a report has NEVER been provided to the public and it should be. I also want to see Duane's Jefferson prison record and any information they have on hin that the FBI obtain on their own. A one paragraph letter dated 1998 is insufficient. They did not even have any pictures of Duane Weber other than his prison shots...The Duane I knew looked little like those mug shots - therefore showing those to any witness was futile. As for the Knox case what I mentioned on the thread was all I knew. I was in the office when I heard the TV in the living room and caught only the part I mentioned in my post about DNA. Hopefully you and many others are aware a young American in an Italian prison may soon be released after film showed how faulty the DNA was - taken from evidence at a murder scene. 1. A bra clasp was handled with soiled gloves and past around thru several agents on site and then put back on the carpet. The agents where filmed doing this. 2. A knife having DNA of the victim on the tip of the blade and the supposed murderer on the handle also had been mishandled....I dozed off, so maybe someone else can fill this in. In other words I did not see the clip in its entirety nor pay much attention, but it got my attention when I saw the clip of the bra clasp being handed around. Yet, the FBI would have us believe a tie that was not handled by DNA standards and one that seem to go missing for 4 hours or 4 days (no one ever clarified which) and a tie that we do not even know belonged to Cooper/ Most importand - what happened to it for those 4 hrs or 4 days? Home many soiled glove s touched that tie and clasp. (it was 1971 - probably the tie and DNA was unknown and therefore the tie was not handled per DNA standards. Also the program listed 3 things that can destroy or damage DNA. Humidity, heat and age. It was 1971 - air conditioned evidence storage warehouses - probably not. Humidity - again not always kept in a controlled climate warehouse...probably not. Age - well it was 36 yrs old when the FBI finally retrived what ever dna the got. The story on the DNA puzzles me because - there were conflicting story. Before we heard it was on the clip and now we hear it is around the top. Why would there not be DNA all over it? Supposedly the FBI talks to writers, but not to people who have real suspects. I do not understand why the FBI is so impartial when it come to who it gives information to. A certain writer has claimed to have spent a lot of time with the Agent of Record - Curtis Eng, but someone like me who is not in this for profit or fame can't even get a response to a simple emaill. I think the FBI should have to explain their actions on something like this. How can the FBI play favorites with who they talk to. Neither Blevin or I get thru to the agent of record but writers with suspects do????? Is that because they have some sort of special privileges? Not every one want to be confronted by the media on this subject because what is usually written is not what was said or what really happened . Showed up for the second time? Did you make an appointment either time? You presume a lot regarding Jane's conversation with whoever she was on the phone with - making it sound clandestin. When you write about people you are hoping will help you - you do NOT take journalistic privileges such as that. One will not stay in journalism very long when they "presume" things. Again - did you have an appointment and did you tell them why before hand you wanted to see them? . I will explain this to the thread. Bruce is a large framed and tall man and therefore looks intimidating only because of his size. Why did you have to go into any detail about his height or presume he appears to be lost in this retirement. Then you go on to give a very unfattering description of him. I was brief in my description of who I was as that was NOT why I was calling. My concern was that someone in the family have knowledge of what was going to be happening in a few wks when Geoffrey's book came out. Also regarding the phone calls another writer had received from Cooper nuts...and my fear that these nuts would be sitting on Tina's door stoop...along with media persons. I did explain I had stayed out of the media for 10 yrs and like Tina coveted my privacy. The conversation was short and my biggest obstacle was proving to Jane - I was not a writer or someone wanting to intrude on their lives...just another victim who had been used by media and writers. I wanted someone in the family to know what was happening so Tina would be prepared. What Jane said to me in regards to this is between she and I...not for the ears of the public. Same with the agents they sent to see the wife of the day who lived in another state. Only after a young journalist was able to present the details the widow had made - did the FBI really investigate Weber. They never expected one woman to keep on keeping on and on and on. In my 15 yrs of telling this story - this has remained a constant. I know what I saw with my own eyes and actually held them in my hands. I also known there has never been any explanation from the FBI about how Duane knew WA and OR and ID the way he did. There has never been any explanation of how this man who claimed he was Dan Cooper knew the area - to which he took his wife and not one time looked at a map. Certain individuals who post as though they are an authority on certain subjects are typical of the new FBI. Even when I made posts explicit at the request of another poster - they come back with jargon that makes absolutely no sense at all. Confusing retoric - this is the same thing I have heard from the FBI for 15 yrs. FBi agents presenting opinons rather than just facts in a public forum only further stood to confuse everyone. Mulitple suspects being presented since 2000 was fueled by the FBI not being able to state and prove the best suspect ever present was NOT Cooper. They were even unable to provide the widow with anything to substanciate that he was NOT Cooper. 2008 - the FBI grabs at straws to field off all of the media....but, every move they made only provided more fuel along with more myths to the Cooper Legend. They created the Red Lion and let him out of the cage. Now they are trying to contain the Red Lion, but failing miserable as the public demands answers. How can they contain Crime at the magnitude it exists in our everyday life if they were unable to solve a simple skyjacking - especially when the answer was placed in their hand many yrs ago. Absolute no reason tor Read the Book - please read on: Robert99 do you remember when the thread asked me to clarify Duane's records that I had in my possession? For your benefit perhaps you need to go back and re-read that tedious post you asked me to make to clarify Duane's records. Even your friend Georger knows when Duane left Camp Sibert and the circumstances of that departure. Duane was NO where near Camp Sibert in March of 1944...and Duane was never a racist. He was very much the opposite - remember the Shoe Shine man he went to find in N.Orleans and the Trumpet player - they were BOTH black. When Duane would spend months in the sun his golden tan would then become very dark.. I am sure someone here will remember the story I told about the neighbors who had Duane take care of their pets, pool and house while they were out of town. Even though Duane and I were much older than this couple - what the owner did when he got home....was fantastic. Duane and I were invited to come over and have a drink but to wait until EVERYONE was there and designated a time for us to walk down to their house. I had NO idea what was going on until the host introduced Duane and I to his other neighbor. The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Mrs So and So I would like you to meet my friend and neighbor Duane Weber, the "N-word" you mentioned who took care of our pets and pool while we were gone. I don't remember how Duane responded to her, but I am sure he was grinning as he shook her hand. This woman was unable to respond and quickly left. Remember this was a military town - no place in 1984 to display the anti-black attitude this woman had. I had wonder why a party had been set up so quickly after they got back off their trip and even mentioned this to Duane. Duane had told me we were going to stay just long enough to have a drink. He was in on it! These neighbors where much younger than we were and we did not socialize with them - they had lots of parties and I thought it odd they invited us and even mentioned this to Duane. This was one of Duane's grinning "I gottcha" moments. The WHOLE room of people knew exactly what was coming down - I was the only one who was NOT told. I do not even remember what my reaction was or what I said - probably stood there with my mouth open - wondering what this woman was all about. As soon as she left - everyone came up to Duane to shake his hand. Seems like the neighborhood didn't like this woman at all and they took this opportunity to put her in her place. By the way the host must have called every black couple he knew.. We did have a second drink and excused ourselves. I only used the expression "N-word" to explain what happened. The host used the real word and I will never forget the silence in the room at that moment nor the laughter that erupted after she left. They planned exactly what they were going to do and asked Duane to go along with it. I have a feeling the story about that night has been told many time since by those who were there. I have looked at many many military records. This is a common statement that I have seen many times on records of enlisted servicemen. My understanding is that it merely references the mandatory service duty in effect at the time and the authority under which they were serving. This is what I had assumed. To check, I did a google search using the exact phrase ... It results in 1,450,000 hits!! Indeed, it would seem to be very common. I never get anywhere with phrases - so Thank You. It sounded like a canned thing, but I had no idea what it meant. Out of the individuals I looked up by name and not being assured it was the right person - it came up a lot - such as Missoula Smoke Jumpers. With the Smoke Jumpers I would have a name but not necessarily a middle initial or where they were born or when they were in the service. Something like Richard Petersen - lots of Richard Petersens and so forth. Remember I really have a hard time with the searches unless I just FALL into them or someone directs me to them...also I only have dial up and it takes forever. For the LAST time - Please READ: I physically went to the VA office and I have posted an accounting of what happened several times. I no long have the energy or time to repeat it. This what came up - CLASSIFIED! Also the fact that I am NOT listed as a BENEFICIARY! This officer or whatever he was had to get a special CODE to even look at what he did...and that is when he told me I was not listed as a beneficiary and anything else was CLASSIFIED and not available. Remember the answer I gave? How could I have been listed as a beneficiary? I was only a few yrs old when he was in the service and I did not marry him until 1978. They had me fill out some papers and all I ever received was the usual certificates the Government supplies - yet, I had all of this other "stuff" I produced for the agent. He was aware I was NOT there to obtain benefits - just information about my husbands military records. I asked how I could get more information or why would Duane's files be classified. I let him know I knew about the bad conduct discharge and the undesireable discharge. He simply told me that was NOT the reason I couldn't have access to the files. Seems like he said "Talk to your Congress man". It was that or some other flippant suggestion. Whatever it was I had neither the money nor the time - to pursue it. I was a widow who had to work to survive and to keep my home. His answer to my last Question convinced me that I was right and any efforts I made to uncover Duane's past would be futile - and so they have been. I would NOT expect any other results - because I have a feeling his file is closed until many yrs after I die. His file will not be opened until the Kennedy files are opened and probably not then - beside all survivors would be deceased and far removed... Frankly I am beginning to believe the government may have destroyed his file since I made that enquiry and the FBI order not to communicate with me. Who is Wavy Greene? It seems obvious to me, that had Duane ever served in a formal or even a informal capacity for which there were records (of any kind) he not only could have, but would have filed for benefits later, based on that service. Duane never missed an opportunity that was a sure-fire thing. That was his nature. Duane never filed for benefits of any kind related to his supposed service, nor have you ever claimed he did or was even entitled to benefits. Thousands of veterans whose records were lost for whatever reason later filed for benefits and most got them ... It seems to me you need to be taking this up with the War Dept or somebody. ??? Georger that is exactly right. Duane was NOT eligible for any benefits that I was aware of. I do know he acquired a sum of money (around 50K) in 1990 after he went on the kidney machine). I have no idea where he kept this money or if it really even existed. Just his words on a recorded conversation and what a friend told me and the fact that the last 4 plus yrs of his life he supplemented our income by claiming he made it off the shop, yet the door was closed most of the time and the merchandise rarely changed. At one time I was a manufactures Representative for gift wares and I have also worked for retail shops. Inventory changes - I never saw much move in the inventory of his shop that supported his even keeping the door open for 3 yrs. plus. He did close the shop the last 18 months because he was too ill to be there most days and I think his "stash" was running low. He had budgeted it out to last the 5 yrs the Dr. told him he had. The Dr. was dead on and if Duane was running out of his "stash" that could be WHY he chose to go off diaylsis. I had lost my job just a month before Duane went into the hosp. My boss said he could NOT keep me if I couldn't keep the quotas up (insurance sales). He did everything in his power to help me keep my job and take care of Duane. That Boss went far and beyond what his responsibility was - and when it reached the point his helping me jeopardized his own job...I also recognized this. The statement on the record I have noted is on certain other individuals who were known to have CIA and Covert connections. Especially Smoke jumpers out of Missoula! Among the smoke jumper from the 1945 to 1948 era in that area - Duane had told me about 4 of them. Claimed to know these people and talked about things only forestry or smokejumpers would know. He NEVER claimed to be a jumper, but he did claim to know individuals who I now know to have been jumpers. I attempted to tell this to the FBI, but they never ever investigated the possiblity...it is like Duane Weber ceased to exist from 1945 to 1948 or so. Then of course we know when the Intermountain thing was happening in CO with Paperlegs that Duane Weber ceased to exist - John Collins was his name from 1962 unti 1968. The WA. convention Duane went to with his wife while he was supposed to be in prison per the prison file? Two of the smokejumpers in Missoula around 1946 where inducted from the same county in Ohio as Weber during the war and went also to Camp Sibert. The man William E. Thomas was also at Camp Sibert when Duane was there - but, I do NOT know if it is the same man I have been searching for - the age is right, Some of the jumpers were involved in the Cuban thing. suggest the FBI and anyone truely interested in solving this thing look at the things I was told by Weber and find out if it was possible for him to have been involved. Strange that most of this happens when Duane is a free man and not supposedly confined to a prison. The Jefferson thing - that one will forever puzzle me - How could a man who was in Solitare when the wife went to visit possible receive a communation of sentence under an alias and the become Duane Weber again. Even Stranger - why did the FBI come looking for Duane after he "got out of Jefferson". They went from MO to CO to knock on his brother-in-laws door. Duane and his wife and kids fled to N.O. and this was 1968 - if the family provided me with correct dates. After that Duane worked in the insurance industry until he died basically because he received benefits and renewals...and he had kept his insurance policies he had with the company as a contractor. He was on disabliity for some time and we paid to continue things like the life insurance when those benefits ran out. Strange to me, but I am sure others here do NOT get it or see what I am able to see and what I told the FBI for yrs. until they slammed the door in my face. When NO one wants to hear it or to investigate what is right in front of them...I am but the tree falling in the forest and I am alone - not even a rabbit stirs. We were both posting at the same time and we both were thinking the same thing. "I would put my money on this: A wood burning stove used to be vented up threw the ceiling and the roof." I couldn't think of the right word for the vent. Then your post called it a Flue - and it was damn - Where is my brain? Where are my words? Now it is time to go to bed - maybe tomorrow will be a better day. Robert 99 maybe your friend but he is not really very smart about somethings...but, of course I get a lot of volunteer help once in awhile. His bragging rights about Army and Navy Serial numbers went right out the window. Also note he doesn't think I cracked the CODE. I didn't have to crack the code - I already knew it...and I don't know why. I know there were several things on the last page of Duane's address book that was very old (metal). I know I asked about some of the thngs in the book and who they were. I know that when I saw numbers he told me that was his Navy number, but there were 3 other sets of numbers. One was the Navy I now know the other was the Army number. Another was a Chicago phone number - I did try to call the number which I no longer have before I threw the thing away - but it was an apartment and the man who answered said I had to have a number. I told him that this phone number was in my husbands address book and I had always been curious about it. Evidently he was a door man or main office person...he would not give me the names of the people in the building. I never called it back. The 4th number was odd and long and with QA in it, but I do not remember the numbers. When someone posted that here - it sent chills down my spine because for some reason it was important. I wrote it down on a sticky and put it on the bottom of my monitor stand. Then a few days later I am working on the Army and Navy record because of the confusion. It was like this was meant to happen. I remembered trying to post the mililtary information and something just came jumping out at me. The Army number JUMP right off the page. Because it resulted in a kind of smiley with 2 eyes. Dont' even know how to explain what I was seeing. The navy number took me only about 4 minutes - they were formulated in the very same manner. I would have to draw it out and I can't do that on the computer. When Robt claimed you could do this with any set of numbers - I took random numbers from Army and Navy record and that is NOT true. Surely there is another set of numbers or multiple sets of numbers that will fit, but the odds of my having the numbers in the correct sequences in front of me - well, it was just too odd. I would put my money on this: A wood burning stove used to be vented up threw the ceiling and the roof. Even our meat house had a smoker vented out the roof as did the wood buring stove in the tenant house. Might have been an old gas furnace vented out. It could also have been an attic fan to pull the heat out in the summer. If he put in window units he would want to close off the attic fan and close the roof after removing the vent. Georger - all I did was let them know what was happening and to tell them how sorry I was even though I had NOTHING to do with the exposure. She understood. Hey! Could I get an injunction against JT for his harassing phone call several months ago? You know the one where he treated me like a prisoner of WAR with his co-ercion. No one has ever spoke to me that way in person or on the phone except for him. I do not and know I have absolutely nothing to ever worry about regarding any actions against me. I did nothing more than let them know what was in the wind and offer my condolences. Never called them before and have no reason to call again. I only did what I would expect someone to do for me...if they had a heart or any respect for me or my family. I personally would have been grateful for the information if it gave me a chance to shield my family or myself. I had to deal with my thoughts for 3 or 4 days before I made the call...and all I did was ask myself a simple question. What would I do if it was my sister? There is such a thing as respect for other people which seems to have been forgotten in the Search for Dan Cooper. These people are so hungry for a story that the harm they can do seems unimportant to them. Why I chose to fight my battle on this ground and not in the face of the victims. No one comes here to do battle unless they want to do so. It is a slow process and a small audience but if you speak often enough and clearly enough there is a chance that maybe someone will hear you.
