Duane made a trip (ALONE) in 1989 before he went on diaylsis in 1990. I never saw any forms or papers - he wanted to do this alone. He said he was going to Birmingham for evaluation for a kidney transplant. Again - I never questioned Duane about things (maybe he was going someplace for a last fling for all I know). Duane's illness was hereditary, and anything else wrong with him was attributed to the disease and the usual things that come along with kidney failure. Do they have any idea why this man did what he did? I rarely watch TV and only read about it in the newspaper. The pictures were grueling - all of the ones I saw looked so young. Crime is becoming rampant everywhere. Break-ins with guns and on individuals who really have nothing themselves. Not far from me a family and several children were held at gun point and the father chose NOT to let his children die at the hands of this senseless man holding the gun - and charged him. When the son realized what Dad was doing he went for it also. Blame the economy. I blame society when the parents had their rights taken away from them. I predicted the decline when the first child in America was allowed to take his parents to court for spanking him...and won. Wonder what happened to that Kid? To ALL and mostly to Blevins: There were people who knew more than they told. I have explained this - the FBI messed up and now 5 individuals who could have shed light on Duane - are now deceased. All of these individuals died in the last 8 yrs and the FBI is very aware of this if they read this thread - otherwise maybe they are oblivious since my contacts to the FBI go straight to a machine and never to a person. They never listened to one word I said or the relay of information from agent to agent was extremely compromised. There are some younger individuals who were only kids at the time - but what is a kid going to remember. One contacted me and told me only part of what he knows - but, this took a horrible emotional toll on him.....and I will leave it at that. As I would with my own child I leave it be and if he ever feels like talking to the authorities he will do this on his own terms. I do not have the means to find 3 other individual still living who might know something. I expect all 3 will be unwilling to talk. These individual would probably have NO direct relationship to the information other than to have known him from the past. One is a nephew of Duane's who was life time military...he may have heard some stories from his mother and father, but he has never come forward. I told the FBI about him - but, as far as I know they NEVER interviewed him. The information is so old now I don't even remember his name - but, I am sure it is here in all of this "stuff" and the FBI could get it and his location in a flash. Come on Jo, how can you blame the theft victims? Duane's thievery wasn't cute or "dumb". He was a pernicious uncaring criminal. You even watched him steal people's coats in his cloakroom swap upgrades. Duane seemed unable to avoid arrest and conviction. He couldn't be trusted. He stole, lied, cheated and conned. Who in their right mind would trust him alone with $200,000 in cash? If he was DBC he was a loner. No organization would choose him as the key player in such a scheme. So forget about the CIA, the Mafia etc. They would have recruited a better candidate. 377 One time I was aware of a coat swap - that is all...wasn't exactly sure how he did this, because the coats where checked at a window?????? I wasn't blaming the victims - it was an OPINION on my part that these war time brides should have been HOME and not out bar hopping..when their husbands are overseas fighting a war. An uncaring criminal is not what he became. He was young and thoughtless. Something changed him drastically - perhaps his 8 yr stay in San Quentin and Folsom. Except he ended up in Canon and Jefferson after that - so WHAT really happened to change him. I do not really know other than it was a life altering event. He was cautious and careful and he evaded any arrests other than twice in our marriage. One was a DUI and this happened right after the money find - he got really really drunk and he would NOT let me drive. There was snow on the ground. The second time you guys know about - when he tried to get the John Collins drivers license in 1990. I do not think anything about what I know about Duane's past is cute - yes, he did a lot of dumb things - but, managed not to screw up and flim flamed the law by by-passing finger prints and made lots of money in the insurance business. He manuevered the system. How many ex-cons could sell life insurance in MULTIPLE states from 1969 until his retirement and also amass some pretty heavy renewals that paid him well even after he went out on disability. Duane maunevered the system for 25 yrs in the insurance industry...these were major state wide companies. Did he learn something or did he get smarter because he had to? For an ex-con to work for more than one insurance company in mulitple states without being found out is a feat in itself. April 15 1943 - letter post marked from Camp Sibert. July 14 1943 Discharged as an Undesirable. I have copies of the "appeals' although they did not call them appeals. Addressed to his mother who was trying to get the Bad Conduct Discharge reversed. This is when the family left Akron in SHAME and went to CA. They were PROUD people and this was just more than his father could bear. All of the communications are addressed to Mother Weber and not to the father. I had not thought about this until I read the letter from Camp Sibert and noted what was NOT said. Amazing what you can "get" out of something when you have been over it for the Umpteenth time. Before I was looking for facts - this is not something that is written it was in what WAS NOT written. I am trying to be objective in this look back. Mother Weber receives an inquiry she made to the County of Monroe, MI regarding his marriage to Daisy Schuller. They say there is a record of this marriage on July 23 1943 and that each gave their ages as 21. I do NOT know why she made this enquiry unless the girl was pregnant. Duane turned 19 that yr. John (the brother) had told me about a girl who contacted Mother Weber claiming to be pregnant - so I assume this is what this was all about. This makes sense regarding the only thing Duane every told me about his daughter....because I remember thinking - I was young enough to be his daughter. I was told the daughter's name was Zona and the wife's name was Edna. In his letter of 1956 from San Quentin when his father died he asked that Edna represent him at the funeral. Duane told me the last time he saw his daughter she was 9 yrs old....so Daisy would NOT be the mother of Zona. A friend of Duane's told me that Duane claimed to have a son also, but Duane never told me about this. The 1944 marriage to Flo Brummitt was sent to me by a member of this thread, but I have never been able to trace her. Like others - the fact this was in Cook County makes it seem very possible, but we have records of Duane being in CA in 1944 - arrest records...San Franciso, County. Duane was on probation for stealing Government checks from ladies of the night in Calilfornia night clubs. These were military wives and the checks were government checks. Now that was Dumb, but also these wives should have been at home or with family not in a bar. Duane runs away after finding the judge was aware of his dishonorable discharge and the judge was known to give such individuals life sentences. I have the research on such a man by the name of Henry Weber who was sent to McNeil on such charges - life sentence...but was removed from McNeil and his sentence reduced. What happens after he is caught in Chicago you guys already know and that he was shipped back to CA and sentenced in 1945 to McNeil - a place the FBI agent of record told me Duane was never a resident of and then changed his story AFTER I told him I had the records in my hand. It was in 1945 that Duane would assume another name for several yrs and maybe more than one name. Still want to know who Wavy Greene was? I will never ever forget that name. Want to know about Placerville and the other town in the moutains Duane talked about. When he mentioned this he mention the name of the road 'we" lived on. We were in Tahoe and he was re-living the past - he never explained why we could not go to CA. or to LaVegas, NV - just that he could never go back....this was in 1979 while we were in Tahoe after we left Seattle. Robert this was discussed before. I did a detailed review of the files about the McNeil thing. Duane had been charged in CA with a Federal Crime of stealing government checks. As he was awaiting trial in late 1944 he took off and headed East. He was found, but without going back to those records and letters to his mother I can't possibly keep all of this in my head. When he was found (due to a petty thief crime - probably food) the authorities wrote his mother a letter that he was being sent back to CA. When he arrived in CA. in early 1945 (only days later) he was sentenced to McNeil and transported immediately. During the time he took off from Ca in 1944 - was arrested and sent to a county facility and when they did the check found the outstanding warrants in CA. I was told that the judge he was going before in CA. was HARD LINE and Duane was scared and ran away. Because the crime commited in CA was the theft and or forgery of federal cks, I think that is why he was sent to McNeil. If so I want to know where Duane's prints are and for them to be compared with prints the FBI used from McNeil . The FBI refused to acquire 2 other sets of Weber's prints - one from Colorado and one from Florida. They insisted on using the McNeil prints from 1944 or 1945. Someone Stated: So there is a possibility that the FBI is right and Duane was never in the Navy. Do you know when Duane's federal criminal record started? NO, Duane was in the Navy - and there are letters from the Navy to his mother explaining things that are going on with her son. All legal military papers and copies of letters. John had the orginal latters and made copies to sent to me. Some Doug Pasternac found in archived files. Duane was in the Navy and after he got kicked out he was in the Army within one month. Now this is ALL documented and regardless of whatever the law states - that is what the paper trail says. What do I think: I believe Duane got himself into the Army and at after he was already in training they found out he had a bad Conduct discharge from the Navy and put him out on the Undesirable. That makes sense. I had always assumed it was the joy ride in the Officer's vehicle that caused it. It was WAR time - and the ARMY didn't care - if you had 2 arms and 2 legs - that was fine....but, the did let him go within a month to 6 wks as an Undesirable. Jo, As pointed out in the previous post, if Duane had received a Bad Conduct Discharge from the Navy he would not have been permitted into the Army. BUT IT DID HAPPEN - these ARE REAL documents - ASK SLUGGO. I am NOT GOING TO GO OUT AND FALSIFY ANYTHING. THIS is how it happened . Bad Conduct from Navy and the Undesirable from the Army in about 1 month. This kids' family could even pay someone to take him and teach him to fight. He was fighting his own battles - it seems! I gave you the information and it was obtain thur legal channels and the fBI is aware of it all. If they aren't that is because they did NOT ask nicely - that is their fault So there is a possibility that the FBI is right and Duane was never in the Navy. Robert the information is here and VERIFIED by the FBI and the Government. I don't understand how he got kicked out of the Navy and then one month later he is in the ARMY....but ALL OF THIS is documented with LEGAL documents.....so believe it. Duane came from a military family and I am sure Uncle Lyman who developed or helped develop Chemical Warfar for the Army in WWI could have had something to do with it. MONEY talks and will cause others to look another way. BUT believe me he was in the Navy and then the Army. Every thing I sent you came right off of government documents. Nothing fictious - the Navy / Army is all documented information that was left at his mothers and the brother had this when I contacted him - he was the one who ended up with the family records - Do NOT know what happened to them now. John had NO children. He may have left them to his sister's grandchildren as 2 of her sons died and there was a third but not someone John would have placed the family treasure into the hands of. I will never ever understand why Duane's file came up CLASSIFIED when the man plugged it in. He made a remark as though he was surprised and more or less mumbled out loud "classified", but told me he had to go to his superior for a code. He comes back and put his code in and then he tells me he cannot give me any information because I am not listed as a relative. I just looked at him - and said I didn't meet him until 1977 and I was only 3 yrs old in that yr...so how or why would I be listed. I needed my husbands records - but he told me he could NOT give me any information for the above reason. That was NOT logical - he had been my husband for 17 yrs - so why was his past obsured from me. I explained to him then that Duane had used another name - John C. Collins. I had the SS number but because of the FBI refusing me the Jefferson FILE - I was never able to get access to anything about John Collins...including saftely deposit boxes in that name. Carr knew where the bank was - and would NOT make an inquiry and I couldn't make an inquiry because I was not the WIDOW of John Collins and the FBI withheld in their FILE the only proof available that John C. Collins and Duane L. Weber where one and the same person. I was unable to make claimes against safe deposit boxes and accounts that might have held anwers. Since the younger generation knows little to nothing about Cooper if they drill a box and it has a plane ticket and stub and bank bag in it - do you think they would really know what they had? No prefixes or suffixes. Army address on letter sent to his mother in CA Love Dusty, Duane L. Weber 35608905 Co D - 2st CWS (cannot make out if this is TWS or CWS) Tng Regt. Camp Sibert, AL The letter speaks of the "chemical end" like his Uncle. He is requesting his watch because he needed it in the field and thank his mom for the $1 and for washing his clothes and then states he won't be able to wear them when he gets home. The Certificate I got from the FBI shows March 31, 1943 to July 14, 1943 Undesirable Disharge - Private. The first one I had before the FBI entered the picture had NO DISCHARGE DATE. Discharge date stated "dates unknown". My correspondence with the Veterans affairs - indicated they did NOT have a discharge date. This document is dated Sept 5, 2000. Why did it change after the FBI disputed Duane was never in the ARMY and I had this document in my hands? This mean my dispute with the FBI was in 2001. I kept a log, but too tired to look it up. I did get another one with both dates on it in Sept of 2001. His date of death (3/2895) is on this first form, but I questioned WHY no discharge date until the FBI learned I had knowledge and proof Duane Weber had been in the ARMY. The FBI agent on the phone told me that Duane WAS NEVER in the Navy and the number belonged to a man by the name of WAVY GREENE (I do not know the spelling on that). This is when I informed him I had the documentation and it did NOT belong to WAVY GREENE. This will continue to be a puzzle to me. 5 and 6 where answered in the prior post. Don't think he was there long enough for that - A friend of the family wrote John about seeing Duane at Camp Sibert and talked about his taking the Commander in Chief's vehicle on a joy ride. Seems his dismissal from the Navy was after he had spent some time in the brigg after hitting a 90 day wonder in the head with a bottle of Carstars (havent a clue how to spell that). This incident happened Off base and was about a girl..Duane told me this story and the sister also knew the story regarding the brigg. More information thanyou asked for and/or needed to know, but hope this will help. This is ALL I believe I know about the Army or the Navy. There is the 3rd person story about FT. Benning. This was about his knowing someone who took someone elses place in Ft. Benning. Bear in mind Duane did manage to pose as an Attorney in Treasure Island - so you know I believe this 3rd party story was also Duane. He had told me the guy was found out in a couple of month and I have to assume 'Poofed' like he did so many times. I do know Duane ends up back in CA a few months later. This is when he gets in trouble and ends up in McNeil after being sentenced in San Franciso County to McNeil in early 1945. P.S. Duane knew where very base was - he spoke often of Camp Pendleton and Ft. Lewis. One would get the impression he actually was on those bases. He pointed out McChord and every base we came near in our travels. He was very familiar with WA and OR bases - such as Camp Pendleton - told me about the jumpers there and how they could not go into the restaurants...and going to get food for them. I just don't know why all of Duane's stories about WA and OR and ID indicate he spent lots of time there, but NO one remembers him. I guess he was just a Ghost....no one remembers. I will answer the questions as best as I can and one at a time 1. Do you know if Duane served in the Army and then the Navy, or was it the Navy and then the Army. (note Duane elderly and deaf brother obtained some of this for me from the family record which now seems to have gone POOF. A. Navy then Army. B. Duane 1st tried to join up by falsifying his age - declaring he was born on June 18 1922. Since this Registration card says Maritime Commission serial # 91-A and guess that would be Navy. (of course he was unable to produce the birth certificate). I do have a copy he tried to alter. Then on Jun 18, 1941 he actually got in on his 17th birthday. His mother gave permission or maybe not - this has always been a real mess. Because the McNeil Island prison has his birthday as June 18, 1920...but he was NOT born until 1924. This form is NOT dated, unless the other thing is a copy of the back. That is dated Nov. 12, 1942. Gives his height as 5'11" and his weight as 167 lbs. All the card says is Selective Service Local Board No. 13 of Summit county, Ohio of Akron, Ohio. 2. Do you know if Duane was drafted or volunteered for service in the Army and/or Navy? A. I guess from this you could say 1st time around he tried to enlist and when he was enlisted with his mothers permission. B. NRS Cleveland 6/18/41 6/19/41 AS NRS Newport 6/28/41 to 827/41 AS US NAS Jacksonville 8/28/41 to 05/30/42 AS Sea2c Discharged May 30 1942 - BAD CONDUCT DISCHARGE. Then it gets really interesting, but later and we learn the BAD boy things. He was a kid trying to be a Man. (he was the baby of the family and born late in life.) I do NOT have details such as what his work detail was etc. I believe the question one of you asked was did he have paratrooper training and most of those who have posted here for yrs Know I do not have that information. Now the official records have been altered to agree with the FBI....I say altered because when I was sitting in the local VA office the Army record came up CLASSIFIED/ ACCESS DENIED. I have told this story before so I won't repeat it in its entirety. The FBI had NO idea I had already been to the VA office. They had NO knowledge of my visit with the VA. SO I caught more discrepancies in the story they wanted me to believe. I have done all of the steps before and after my talking to the FBI and I have told this story over and over before. I do not know how to explain to you the sequence of numbers but I did it several ways and the odd man out was the 7's. Then I looked at the placement of the 7's and realized they were the turners (I do NOT know what coders call these things so forgive my ignorance). The first 7 is followed by 698. this give you 96 and 89. The second 7 step back for the number 2 and forward for the 35 in reverse. Using the 7's as turners you have Duane's Navy # and his Army number. Remember zeros do not count in the code. 35608905 35 is the first but on the code 35 is reversed on the end. 89 is the being of the second set with the 0 being the turner making it 98. The second 0 is another turner followed by 5 pick up the five and take foruward and that give you 35. You can do this with both serial numbers with the 7 as turners in the 7698QA2753 and 0 as the turners in the army number. QA is simple Question/Answer? He is presenting the Answer to who he is and challenges them with Quest to figure it out. OKAY none of this will make any sense to anyone but me - I will be accused of grabbing for straws, but if I ever saw that group of numbers (or Code) sent to the FBI - I might have been having a Brain Fart day and this may be by far the biggest STINK I ever made. When I saw it I felt like I had seen it and it had been explained to me. Now EVEN I think I am delusional. IT is like the other day when I was posting about N.Orleans - I suddenly remember something I had NOT been able to remember in all of these yrs - it had to do with why we were in N.Orleans and where we were going. This again involved someone who was high up the food chain - I did NOT think too much about Duane's involvement with certain individuals...but, I didn't really know who they were until I started investigating all of this Crap. My being 17 yrs younger than Duane - is why I have lived long enough to find the pieces. The puzzle I keep putting together fits to well and only a few of the piece are forced. Some of you guys worked coding in the 60's and 70's - try using your knowledge the way I did common sense. Forget the coding post 1971 - only that used pre 1971. The guys in prisons (state and military) set up pretty elaborate ways of communicating with each other that went over the heads of the guards. Did one of the letters contain this? Something that is obviously a CODE? 7698QA2753 The writer supposedly only had months to live. I cannot verify this nor can I find where it was sent from if it did exist. But take the one I have typed: 7698QA2753 Then use 35608905 (a number for Weber). Then use 283-56-96 (another number for Weber). If the QA sequence is correct then figure it out. I already have, but who am I? Perhaps I have the number wrong or the number was intentionally given to mislead your truly. Hint the # 7 is the QA sequencial. OKAY everyone was there really a letter with a code on it 7698QA2753 I need to know if these letters are correct and if such a letter to the FBI really did exist. Well, if it is REAL - I broke the code. I just think it is a game someone is playing with me. If it is real then why didn't they look at this when they looked at Duane. The man mentions only months to live - but, who knows what the Dr.s told Duane in the beginning. Like my last husband - 6 month and he lived over 5 yrs. with cancer. Okay Sluggo and Georger: For those in the know if the letter really existed - I will give you both Duane's navy and army number and it is all there. IT was a simple question Answer thing. These 2 number equal these 2 numbers and the two number equal another set with a common denominator of 7. It worked with both the Navy and Army number - He simply said here I am figure it out and you know who I am. I put a call into the FBI to see if they actually recieved that letter or if it is a phoney. I never get past an answer machine. day or night - so someone help me out on this. I knew there were some strange number in the back of a book and I don't know if I have that anymore - but I did have both army and navy numbers and it world both ways. Duane always mess around with stuff like that - when he was bored I guess. I thought it wa silly. BUT some on find a copy of this letter - I need to know the post mark and dates on it - that might make the connectors make sense. It is there just with the numbers alone but a date and address might make me throw it out or say this needs to go to the FBI. Since they won't take my calls any time or anywhere - what i put in the final email on this - thosw who know will have to get it to them. Was such a note hand written or typed - does it really exist? I suggested this to Carr and to the FBI - but, I was ignored. I suppose too many people have handled those cut cords now. Cooper had to form a loop on the cords with his hands to cut them. Coopers DNA would be on every cut...and there was NO report of Cooper wearing gloves when he cut the cords. FBI pay attention to this - I am tired of keeping this stuff out of the public eye. Special Forces - last name Ross. Tired of sitting on Lead Ville. Now that is CODE and the FBI knows DAMN well what it means. P.S. Blevins needs to post his personal phone number and address in this thread and other places he posts at - he NEEDS to know how this has affected my life and the life of others.
