Zona: My orginal post to Orange: That was NO false pretense. I was trying to find Duane's daughter born sometime between 1943 and 1947 and her mother's name was Edna. Duane died of polycystic renal failure as did his mother in 1958. This condition is usually hereditary...I have been trying to find her since Duane died. I believe Duane L. Weber was listed as the birth parent. There was NO falsehood here. The last time Duane saw his daughter she was about 9 yrs old and she told him she never wanted to see him again. I believed Zona to be in the AZ or TX area and included CA and Ill. Edna was named in a letter to Duane's mother in 1956 when his father died. Duane asked that Edna stand in for him. I do NOT know if this was done. In 1956 Duane was in prison. It is pretty rotten of you and Jerry to make this into an issue. I was NOT searching for her because of who her father was, but because of the disease and because I wanted to meet this daughter. She would have very little memory of her father because Duane was incarcerated from 1950 to 1957. Thank You for posting that here as it might help me to find out what happened to Zona and her mother Edna. Edna would be deceased and very probably so would Zona due to the herediatary disease. 377 and others know I asked for help on this issue in the thread or in another community I posted in. The ex-wife told me he tried to see his daughter or to communicate with her (she indicated Tx). All I have is the ex-wife's word on this and do not know how reliable that was. I do not know her birthday or even the exact age she was born or in what state. I extracted from what the ex told me (after Duane died) that Zona was in college in 1969 or 1970.. Duane had told me she was around 9 the last time he saw her and she told him she never wanted to see him again. I did ask Duane about his daughter when he had his fistula put in in VA (by the way this is wnen I understood the seriousness of his condition). Believe it or not until 1986 I did not understand his illness. He didn't tell me and I didn't ask! He never wanted to talk about it. I was never went to the Dr with him when he had his check-ups for his "blood pressure and his kidney". As I have repeatedly said - I had Dumb Blonde Syndrome or maybe I was just a good wife who did NOT get in her husband's face and in his business. As for the picture of the little girl in the Book - the first thing I thought of was his daughter. I had seen the picture when I used the book to make a reference on something. He was in the kitchen with me and asked me to be careful with this book. His reply to the picture was - "it is just a of a little girl". I thought it might be his daughter or his sister or his mother. Because of the age of the book - it was NOT his sister or his mother. You are DEAD on that I thought it might be his daugher and why I did NOT pull or make this public until about 3 yrs ago in this thread. It was when the pictures of Tina became so prominent in the thread - and it caused me to go pull the book and compare them. The origin of the book and the connections within it are suspect. I have a strong hunch about the books and the picture, but NOT one I will voice in a thread. Some of you very very astute researchers should start searching for birth records. Maybe the holes were made before the Money was put on the river. Pehaps moths or ants or termites. If the money was hid in an old house or shed or buried beneath a house or shed in a bucket or wooden box - what would it's condition have been in 1979? Anyone dare to touch that one? Think about it - some of the damage like the holes in the middle where probably done before the money was put on the river bank. Just a thought out of the BLUE! HAS anyone even thought about WHAT if the money was someplace besides the river until 1979? Palmer indicated the money had been in the water for less than a yr. Why keep on trying to find a natural resource that puts the money on the beach? No one wants to believe that Cooper returned in 1979 - retrived the money then left a deposit on the river in 1979. I still think perhaps the holes were caused by mold. The molded areas (dark spots) became holes because of the weakened structure of the money as it deteriorated in a dark place. If the money was damp when Cooper stored it may have created mold...and maybe this caused the holes. Just an old woman idea and no science behind it. Just a suggestion. It was someone calling me a Redneck or trailor Trash - not me calling anyone else that. I live in a modest home and off of SS and supplement that with a modest IRA. My homes value is 1/2 of what it was in 2004. I am the small fish in a much bigger pond. I have worked hard all of my life and never depended on welfare for income or health insurance and I am proud of myself and my accomplishments. I often worked 3 jobs to provide for my children. I live in the Redneck Riviera as it is often called, but I take offense to being called a Redneck. I am fending off an insult and suddenly I am being attacked. In Florida homes not built on site are classified in the MLS as trailer or manufactured homes. There is a very distinct difference. If the home sits on a frame it is a trailer. If the home sits on a foundation of blocks or other stationary foundation it is called a manufactured home...in otherwords it cannot be moved without being disassembled. I have been retired for a long time and maybe this has changed. If my defending myself offends anyone I apologize, but I feel it was all taken out of context. I was the one who was called a name and I also put up with JT calling me a liar. Jerry knows that when he and I were talking in the very beginning I had NO maps - all I had was HIM telling me this was not here or there. HE knows that in 2001 when I went to WA with the documentary crew that he misled everyone. He didn't think I would ever know any difference...but I found the places without him and it was he who was lieing to me. In 2011 - I found most of the other things he said did NOT exist. He lied to me and unless he was part of a cover-up - give me another reason to mislead me? Other than NO one was going to find Cooper other than JT. Regardless I know what I saw and where I was and NO one can ever change that. I also know what Duane told me and what I held in my hands and NO one can ever change that. If Jerry recorded any conversations with me - remember he was the one who had told me this was where I was and this was where I wasn't . When I went out the WA in 2001 is when I ceased contact with him because he had been lieing to me and I didn't understand why. I had argued with him on the phone for 4 yrs - that NO that is NOT where we where - WE were on Hwy 14 and NOT on the Or side - it was useless then and it is useless now. As for Nuttall he is bound and determined the crime was connected to Vegas, Mafia and government involvement. I disagree with that - but he will not listen to any alternative...but his story has some of the same connection the story about Duane does - or at least some of theories I played with looking for answers. What do I believe - I don't know, if the crime involved a second party or covert action or if it was the crime of one man whose life fell apart after spending most of his adult life in prison. A man who just decided to get even with the system. Perhaps it was a jump of faith that he COULD commit a crime and get away with it or maybe he was commiting suicide. I would like to believe he was commiting suicide and survived. I would like to believe that Tina was a his guiding light. I would like to believe that he wanted someone to know what he did. As for Cooper actually going to harm anyone - no I don't believe that. The bomb was only road flares and I believe that Cooper actually expected to die. Yes, he was just a common criminal, but he got lucky - he lived and he changed his life - and perhaps that is the only good thing he ever did. Funny smokin99, I have pity too and keep searching for an article that Jo swears she has seen which details a prisoner smoke jumper program. That might put Duane near a chute, but not in one. I do not think the article or program ever existed. I think it demonstrates Jo's bias combined with a partial memory about something roughly similar, like perhaps a movie poster or an article about prisoners fighting fires as parts of ground crews, which certainly did happen. Insert by Jo: I did see that picture 3 men in front of a large building in the background. I went back to my notes of those days and other things I pulled up - It was there and then gone - I nor Doug could ever find it. This was during my first few weeks of using a computer in 2000. Duane's inability to evade arrest for even a $5 cash theft is telling. Is this a guy who could plan and successfully execute one of the most innovative and risky crimes of the 20th century? I sure do not think so. Insert by Jo: For heaven sakes he was 20 yrs old and then he spent prior to 1968 many yrs in different prison. Maybe he learned something from some of the other con-men while he was in prisonl. Seems odd that after 1968 he continued to commit crimes but was NOT caught. His ex-wife told me about 2 crimes he committed and the children told me about many others - suitcases of furs and jewelry. 377 I also want to NOTE that NO one has filled in the yrs from 1945 to 1949. Try Idaho and Wa and Or, - I have asked the FBI many times to look in Coure d Alene. Duane was NOT alone in crime during that time. The crime must have been pretty bad - because he said "I can never go back there". I never knew what he meant by that statement. I have an idea, but only an idea. Duane was only 20 yrs old in 1944 but I believe this was him. Obviously he slipped out on them because we have papers where he left CA and ended up Back East where he was again arrested and sent back to San Franciso. Go back and find those posts to get the exact dates. Sluggo knows about these papers. The article you found I believe to be sound and a good find. BUT some how Duane ended up back East and then shipped by the Authorities to CA where he was immediately sentenced to McNeil in January of 1945. The McNeil Records I have and they record his age older than he was also and have posted the data. This incident explains why he was sentence right after arriving back in CA. The FBI never shared any of this - what I have came from the family and other sources - one being Pasternac. Since he was only 20 yrs old at the time of the sentencing this makes the story the Brother and Sister told me on target.. He was NOT old enough to be in McNeil and how the family made arrangement for him -to be removed from McNeil (as the FBI put it - he only passed thru McNeil) he was then taken back to CA and placed in a program there for wayward young men. This was supposed to be a program to help him straighten out...arranged by friend of the family. This is when he went to the Placerville and Carson City area and trained in forestry and explains his knowledge of that area and the pictures he showed me. This only enforces everything I have said to date. This is a very very good find. Now trace him after he was put into a program in July of 1945. McNeil had no explanation for this. They also had NO work details....Duane was NOT in the population of the prison - because he was too young. Family members in WA intervened, but I never found out who the individuals were. The family had connections. The family also kept a journal, but I have not been able to acquire access to it since John's death. I expect this to be something the family kept in that journal. Duane worked for Family Life Insurance whose HOME OFFICE was in Seattle and you really think I could make that up and the business associates who knew him? As for George Nuttal again you are twisting things. George wants NOTHING to do with you because you deliberately misled him and his partner - you cost them a lot of yrs. of misdirection. Jerry there is NO need in TRYING to be nice to you. I try, but what do I receive, but these kinds of abusive insults! I retired because I REMARRIED i In 2002 we found out he had CANCER. By 2004 it was essential I be there FOR my husband... I stlll maintain my continueing education credits and my license on an inactive status. I have not trashed Duane - only wanted to know who this man was. In 1995 when Duane died and when the items that had been hidden in his van were returned to me - I puzzled over this for a long time. I didn't understand the hidden wallet and the identification in it...but, I did NOT know who Dan Cooooper was. Note you have accused me of not know about D.B. Cooper - sure I knew who D.B. Cooper was if someone had reminded me of it and had brought it to my attention - I had other things in my life and it did NOT revolve around old unsovled crimes. Jo, please stop referring to people that live in Manufactured Housing as "trailer trash". It is a very demeaning characterization. Manufactured Housing is considered low-income housing and is a very valuable housing option and resource. Anybody can be considered 'trash' regardless of their economic status. It was SOMEONE IN THE THREAD WHO CALLED ME TRAILER TRASH and/ or REDNECK. What I was referencing. A manufactured home is not a trailer - perhaps you should come for a visit and I will show you the difference between a manufactured home and a 'trailer". It was how Gray portrayed me that caused the person to call me this...he talks about the barbecue pits and other things along his drive to my home. It was also if my memory serves me someone I suspected to be in the Marla "camp". I am NOT low-income and I do NOT live in a manufactured home or a trailer....the heat bills in those things here are out-rageouse. A friend of mine had a $700 electric bill last month and she lives in a maufactured home. An area can be zoned for Manufactured homes but not for trailers. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE per Zoning laws. You are asking a legal question here and a copyright question. I am not qualified to answer that. Blevins would be MORE quailified in that area. My Opinion is that you can Reference page and make short quotes, but you have to reference the source ( the book). Now understand you cannot do a paragraph and then do another paragraph in another post - that would be flagrant mis-use of that privilege. If you do an opinion of a certain page - as I do it is safer. Then if someone wants to question why you are making a certain remark, you can do a rebutal with the Quote and reference. Often an isolated paragraph can be taken out of context when applied alone....so it is always good to ear-mark the pages you use...to be able to quickly make the reference. Nor did I find anything calling me a liar (sure wish Jerry would LEARN to spell that word since he uses it so much). I also cautioned him about the laws regarding copying pages and that if he uses short quotes he needs to reference those quotes. I might not like the light in which Gray portrayed me and made posts regarding the night I met Duane Weber and Geoffrery's visit to clear up the "creative writing" issues. A test result so HIGH they held me as the last person to be released. I had NO idea what I had done. Since my named started with W I assumed that was why I was last. The monitor immediately said NO, that is NOT why you are Last. I remember thinking - OH, shit what have I done? My mind raced - WHAT did I do? The monitor swore me in and then told me I had one of the highest scores ever made on the test and the highest for this particular test - 98. The test results was so far out of the NORMAL range that they took the liberity of looking at my actual card. Had I not have ERASE two answers - I would have had a perfect score and that had NEVER been done. Even today when I go back to that area - I am introduced as the agent responsible for the current tests being so hard. I have been out of the business for 8 yrs and I still get the ribbing about my score. At at the risk of sounding like a "Braggart" I did a similar thing with portions of the SAT testing for college. The testing in those days was divided into sections. My score in one area pulled the over-all score down, but still was considered extremely high, I didn't make the Who's Who of SAT testing, but I was close. Encase JT needs to know - Close is only good in horseshoes. I like Charlene's word "Braggart" and Gray's use of it to describe her father - it is fitting. JT: Buy the book and read it - Geoffry airs ALL of your family dirty linens and I know things Geoffrey didn't know, but I don't go about airing family laundry in public. 377: Give me the pages indicating the creditials and education of one JT. I did NOT find it. Gray thought it better to show where JT is in his life and the conflicts that abound in his family life and in his "professional" life if you can call running around the wood a profession. Jerry has NO credentials in resources and the writer points out Jerry's many mistakes - mistakes that make JT appear to be the Idiot Man in the Forest. I am using different words so as not to borrow from Gray's book. I loved it when Gray mentions Knoss and that I stated I never found any truths in Knoss's story other than he may have known Duane - briefly during his life. This is something I have even stated in this thread many times. JT will not be happy about Gray's presentation just as I was NOT happy about the way I was presented. I actually was on my guard because - I know what writers can do with the words. I hid things from Gray as I hid things from others...things I feel are private and things I feel just might have their time in the light. LIKE the 2 (TWO) books. Having a problem finding equipment I can produce a good image of book covers - one book is about 1 inch thick and the other about 1/3 inch...Problem is the binders are rounded (I described them before and someone told me what they are called and I forgot - I think they call this Old Timers or maybe it is just stress). The FBI wants me to SEND them in the mail...over my dead body! I would never see them again. They are kept at the bank, but I had them the other day trying to find someone to copy the covers or make a photo. NO copiers in the area capable of handing the depth of the binder that will allow me to go behind the counter to handle the books. I know these books would only have been handled by the prior owner, myself, Duane, 2 interviewers and maybe Doug. Does anyone have an idea about HOW to make these books public (yea, I am fed up with the FBI - going to do it on my own). I need for WA, OR, and ID to see the fronts of these books and some example pages - both books are limited additions of 3K. Both Books have associations with the NW although one has NY - MN connections...but, then has the NW connection. Why does this make sense to me? It is Thanksgiving - someone had the books with them to share with their families. These books are something I would have carried to or from a Family function...or that another family member may have given me on this special weekend in 1971. A family is missing part of their heritage. The passengers and crew did not retrieve ALL of their belongs and these things were supposed to have been returned to the passengers. I was told the family of a passenger or crew member made an enquiry as to some items not returned to that family member. They thought they had been taken into evidence in Reno. I question that it even made sense for Cooper to take these items other than he had touched them - and his prints would be on them. The paper is coarse and not something he could wipe down. WHY not just throw them out the Aft stairs? Why keep them? Cooper had enough to handle just transporting the money and this is why I question Cooper taking evidence or momentoes. OR did he acquire the item in 1979 while visiting the Gresham area? Who did he go see and what did he go dig up and where? Why did Weber make all of those strange stops along the River after we left Seattle? Why was he hitting Casino after Casinio in Tahoe - never more than 45 minutes in the same Casino Duane was NOT smart enough to SET me up with a deathbed confession he would make over 15 yrs later. What Duane said to me in the hospital has never changed. "I'mmm Dan Coooper" and then when I did NOT understand what he was saying he said "Oh, F---, let it die with me!". I never said Duane knew who Cooper was but that he said he was Dan Cooper. Later on because of the FBI - I let it go with my expression: "If Duane was NOT Cooper, he sure as Hell knew who was.". This is how we ended the U.S. News article - so again you take too much out of context. Talking to you on a phone was HORRIBLE - you argued then just like you do here - coercively. You are of an interrogator mind set and that is how you are geared. As for you creditials - I am speaking of Educational courses and college courses.. Really? Hmm... The link goes to Kaye's science publications. I had them all posted, but it took up too much space. Jerry, they don't just let ANYONE work at the Burke you know. (museum, UW) Your opinion on Kaye is naturally biased. Should his research on the money turn out to be correct, this would mean you wasted more than two decades looking for Cooper's body. We both know this, so I can understand why you might discount his research. I don't know about his educational background, but he sounds like a pretty sharp guy to me.

The Dredging and all of that has been discussed and studied for many yrs. The finding have always been negative. I have 2 very astute individuals who have searched this over and over. Both home grown in that area and both very very familiar with the dreging and the water flows. They both know the currents and the history of the area. The dredging or Cooper landing in the Columbia did NOT result in the money showing up on Tena's Bar. Than you have all of the individuals in this forum who explored all of the possibilities with the river,..physically and thru research - yet, you come here and think you can make ALL of their RESEARCH just go Poof. What IF the money was never in the Columbia/ What if someone made a deposit there the last Week of Sept in 1979? That would explain the condition of the bills. Now this leaves the another question: What & where could they have been for 7 yrs? Perhaps this is what Kaye should have studied. He and others kept trying to put the money in the river in 1971. If the money was STORED in another location for 6 yrs - where was it stored and what would have been the condition of the money in 1979? Could the deterioration of the found money have occurred in 7 months and/or was the money already deteriorating when it was put on the river banks. If the money was already deteriorating - what could have been the cause. For instance, say the money had been put in a plastic or metal container (like a feed bucket) and water had seeped into the container settling on the bottom, but not saturating the entire contents of the container. Would not this have in 6 yrs have caused the contents to MOLD. When mold dries on paper it leaves 'HOLES'. I do not know the science behind this - it is just old lady and farm raised sense. Damp moldy paper and fabric ends up with holes if left to dry-out in a dark damp container. On the farm "feed" would sometime get moldy and we had to dispose of it. A stack of burlap sack - the bottom ones had to be discarded but the uppers that had not molded where salvagable. Could something like this account for the condition of the money? I have always felt that Weber could not salvage ALL of the money in 1979. I will not forget the nightmare during the 1st 6 months we lived in CO. 1977. Duane is rambling in his sleep - he wakes up screaming a blood curdling scream and shouts "I left my prints on the Aft Stairs!" Remember I asked Duane what aft stairs was and he told me it was something in a jail and DUMB me believed him. He just said he got in some trouble with a couple of guys and spent a couple of months in a county jail. He did not tell me the time span of this "jail" time and I did not ask, nor did he tell me what the crime was. I believe Cooper hid the money in more than one place and took some for traveling "money". Vegas - both he and his wife talked about Vegas and knew people from Vegas - but - NO record of the 2 ever having lived there. Duane introduced me to a very wealth lady in Ft. Lauderdale who lived in the Chicago area - their main topic of discussion was Vegas...I still do not know who that woman was other than the name Jeanette (or similar sounding name) Miers - perhaps the name was Fake. Farflung I usually do not respond to your posts except on rare occassions. Dredging by any means would have cause the bills to separate and/or torn into bits, be it put there in 1971 or 1979 by any of the listed pieces of equipment. The money and bands were brittle and stuck together. I am using plain logic - born and raised on a farm logic and finding things in the river logic. The money was put there in 1979 - approx 6 months before it was found. We have NO idea what condition it was in when it was put on the river or where it had been stored for the prior 7 yrs. Seems like the testing the River group did would have found some indications of storage. Perhaps the silver is the clue. I firmly believe that Weber was Cooper - I will follow my instincts about what he would have done. "Never put all your eggs in ONE basket". Duane's rambling after going on the morphine: He is rambling about putting X# of dollar in a bucket and he can't find the bucket. This was probably the morphine providing a sum of X# of dollars. In other words I am thinking out loud - just rambling thoughts with no bases other than what he said and what I saw. Did Cooper make more than ONE deposit in or near that river? One was across from the PDX and West of it. Now I understand that was Symbalic? This is the one where I couldn't see the PDX but he explained the trees hid the tower. There are tracks and a berm behind us - on the north side. He tells me there are nice homes in a subdivision North of the berm. Then we stopped at the Green tank (I guess because I got out of the car he decided that was NOT a very good place to leave his booty). It was flat there and no place for him to go out of my visual site. The next stop was an open area on the river and a house and trees - I stayed in the car again, but got out for a moment. He was not gone long. Before I went to WA in 2001 I thought this was Tena's bar, but the way the Crew approached it - my directional finder said No.. Visually it was the same, but the approach and changes didn't factored in - plus being with a large number of people and talking and cameras. I didn't remember any equipment in 1979 or another building other than a house, a fence and trees and farm land. No one showed me pictures of HOW it looked in 1979 or even in 1980 when the money was found...unless they were in Himmelsbach or Tosaw's book, I would NOT see those pictures until much later. Remember I did NOT own a computer until Jan of 2000. Now it all just runs together. The last stop was the Red Lion where he threw the paper bag and its contents into the water from the pilings or whatever you guys called the barrier in the back of the Red Lion in 1979. Oh, Well I gave it all I had for 15 yrs. No one ever listened or cared except Sluggo to see what I held. I don't remember if I showed the books or mentioned them to Sluggo.
