Right click on the filename, then "save as". Save it to your hd, then run it locally. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  2. It's on ftp.skydivingmovies.com I was going to bump up the speed on the server a bit, but for whatever reason I can't log in right now, so we'll have to put up with the slow speeds for now. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  3. Congrats Michele, that was a realy cool show. I'd love to be in your shoes... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

  6. I can't wait to see the important part. In the meantime, "extreme fishing" is kinda funny... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  7. Just how would you "distance yourself and deny them the means?" Just a guess, but the way that the US has distanced and denied means to Fidel Castro is probably a good example. The US won't do that though, they want to buy Iraq's oil. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

  9. I just checked Amazon, and you can buy a copy there for $150... Maybe the library isn't such a bad idea. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  10. I disagree. Young jumpers frequently move rapidly from HUGE canopies (.6 wingloading) on their first jump to probably 1.1 or even 1.2 by the time they have 50 jumps. If they buy too early they'll either be "locking in" at this low wingloading, or buying a canopy they're not ready for. I didn't get mine until I had 40 jumps, at which point I bought at 1.2 I did start buying some gear while still a student. Altimeter, goggles and a helmet are all good choices that will cost a lot, and you'll keep forever. _Am _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  11. The kenko .5 lense I have screws into a 37mm lense, but you need a 46mm filter if you want to put it on front. Putting a $20 filter on the front is worth it for a $100 lense, but not for a $25 one. Protection is the number one use for a U/V filter. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  12. I'm gonna post one more, too! Moodyskydiver standing up her landing on that very same AFF #3. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  13. Uh oh. Looks like somebody's in trouble... Hey, just be happy I posted the good one! You're kind of like Jess in that you've got a great smile, but you never show it. Smile more often, dammit - then I'll have more good pics to post! _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  14. I will! :) _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  15. Pics from the weekend. As usual, uploaded to my website. Unfortunately I didn't take as many as I would've liked... http://www.bombshelter.ca/~andy/photos/AOT/ A few highlights: http://www.bombshelter.ca/~andy/photos/AOT/pages/AmberPlane2.htm - Moody Skydiver before AFF 3. http://www.bombshelter.ca/~andy/photos/AOT/pages/DSCF0122.htm MoodySkydiver and Freaksister http://www.bombshelter.ca/~andy/photos/AOT/pages/DSCF0125.htm - Gemini http://www.bombshelter.ca/~andy/photos/AOT/pages/DSCF0124.htm - Ramon http://www.bombshelter.ca/~andy/photos/AOT/pages/DSCF0129.htm - emartin and kbell http://www.bombshelter.ca/~andy/photos/AOT/pages/DSCF0126.htm - AggieDave _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

  17. :) Awesome Michele, I'll be sure to tune in. Long time no chat, again! How're things going? Drop me a line, will you? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  18. Campfire.jpg was early in the dive. Campfire2.jpg was about 10 seconds later. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  19. You know, I didn't realise it either until I got home sunday night at midnight, and thought to myself: Wow. I left the DZ at 2:00pm. Going down I broke the trip into two segments so it really didn't seem very long. I was really surprised at my inability to get a direct flight from Chicago to Dallas. I thought it was absurd that I spent almost as much time waiting in terminals then I did on the plane. I'll find a better way to do it next time, I probably should've flown into Houston rather then Dallas. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

    aot boogie

Here's two of my pics from sundays' jump. Now, that wasn't water on my lense. Just sweat off my forhead. Yeah, that's it... They're not the clearest pics, but at least they're evidence. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  21. I've only got a .5 lense, so the pics I have with most people in them are from far away. Both pics show 9 bodies, plus me is 10. I'm not sure who's missing. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  22. John, that is way over the top, and completely unfair. A death in druged out misadventure vs. a reporter having consentual sex with an adult. You don't see a difference of severity here? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  23. I'm exhausted, so I won't be posting the pics now. That's for tomorow. I flew to Dallas friday afernoon and met up with Moodyskydiver half way to the DZ. I discovered that Texan tex-mex really isn't that different then Chicago tex-mex. I met Moody's horses, and just had a fun time hanging out with Moody. Saturday morning she met me at my hotel and we drove down to bryan... I was surprised to see what looked like a hundred cars in the parking lot. I started to figure out this really was going to be something big. By the time I added my name to the DZ.COM sign-in sheet, the page was already full. I'm sure I can't remember half the names of the people that were there, so many people were there. I didn't put my RW suit on once all weekend. I did some really cool freefly jumps with Levin and Zennie - Clay, you'll be disapointed to hear that I didn't bolt this time when Zennie got the Spock dock... We tried an 11-way dz.com hybrid jump saturday, which wasn't spectacular because a the base funneled and we ran out of altitude once they got it back togeather. The highlight was Sunday where we pulled off a 13-way hybrid from 11.5!!! It's too bad it was overcast cause there sure will be some good pics from that one! Freeksister, so good to finally meet you! I've been trying to meet up with you for years! Levin and Lummy - thanks for the awesome two-ways. Those were just too much fun! Amber, you're a riot to hang out with. Ramon - sweet reluctant organizing. Kbell and Beth - stop lurking dammit! Both you two are just so sweet, you've got to let that side out online more often. Dave, without your nagging I never would've come down in the first place. Next time we'll make sure you aren't working so we can jump more. Skygeek, rgoper, gemini, kris and everyone else that I'm forgetting - well - thanks for gaving me such a good impresion of Texan hospitality. I can't wait to come back! Here's the numbers: Miles traveled: 2656 Hours spent travling: 19 Hours spent waiting in terminals: 5 Hours spent airborn in DC-9's and Airbus A-320's: 6 Hours spent driving: 8 - 4 with the top down, 4 with it up. Convertables rock, dammit! Jumps: 5 Ankle injuries: 0 Travel Miles / jump: 531.2 Travel Hours / jump: 3.8 Shitty skydives: 0 Happy AndyMans: 1 _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  24. It's extreemely useful. Every time somebody goes in, we need to figure out why. In this case, there's a pretty simple explanation. This will serve as a reminder to DZO's and the public at large to be on the lookout for people who are stoned. Nobody needs to be a narc, but pointing out discretely to a S&TA or DZO that somebody shouldn't be jumping today could very well save their life, and won't get them arrested. I've done it - and I saw that guy grounded because of it. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  25. Ok, consider an analogy. A number frequently going around skydivng is that parachutes "fail to open", about one in a thousand jumps. Or .1% We don't worry about this so much, because we have a reserve, which (as the popular number says) also fails about one jump in a thousand (.1%) Despite this, we don't tend to think of the odds of going in under a double mal as 1 in a thousand, but 1:1000 * 1:1000 = 1:1,000,000 = %.0001. Indeed, it's true. People don't tend to go in under bad reserve if the main had been chopped properly. While people do certainly go in under double-mals, they don't tend to fit the model of one parachute failing, chopped, then the second failing independently of the first. The odds reflect reality. Whats my point? The odds of two events happening are the multiplied odds of two single events. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
