  2. yes, a very cool dog. I got to meet Sabre on my way down to bryan. Not only gorgeous, but one of the friendliest dogs I've ever met. Very cool dog, Amber. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  3. Possible, I imagine - but the formation would be extremely unstable... Imagine a piece of plywood falling through the sky. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

    Insurance

Over the weekend I unfortunately heard a DZO asking for donations for the hospital bill for a guy that seriously hooked himself in. That's a speach, and a plead, I would rather never hear again. I've jumped 5 times without insurance while I was in between jobs, but one can retroactively buy corba insurance in the US if you need it, so it wasn't like I was REALLY jumping without insurance. When I was living in Canada and jumping in the US, I would buy US travel insurance to cover my jumping. I would never jump without insurance. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  5. You're right, it has. However it hasn't been helmet mounted, but chest mounted, attaching to a large ring on the harness, plus a belly band. You do NOT want to put 50 pounds on your head. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

    Lexx ?

Yes. It sucks in the US cause they edit it to hell, but it's funny, sexy, insightful, AND interesting. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  7. I once had my ditter go off three times at about 3:00am the same night while I was sleeping. I had to get up and turn the damn thing off. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  8. Willingness to jump in high winds seems to decrease with experience. That's my first observation. Secondly, I really don't mind stronger winds, but what I REALLY hate are gusty winds. I'll jump in 20MPH winds if they're constant and the landing area is unobstructed, but I won't jump if it's 12 gusting to 20. Gusts are just too unpredictable. It's not the strength of the wind, it's just that they can change so much - you WILL get blown around, just like you did. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  9. Sure it will. Canada and the US were once at war. Fortunately we live in a world where we don't always destroy each other to prove a point. Sometimes we just decide the point isn't worth fighting for. I'm not saying there's no point in the US being in the middle east, but hopefully the middle east will decide there's no point in attacking the US. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  10. This is more of an annoyance then a bug. If I click into a thread with new postings, and one of those new postings has an image attached, I view the image, then hit the 'back' button - my browser reloads the "new" posts, either taking me to the next page, or the first page - not the page I was on in the first place. An easy fix would be to have attached images open in their own window. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  11. I thought SWOOP had a pretty good freefly scene going? I know there's a bunch down at Frontier. They're around... ya just gotta build it up the hard way. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

    IT funny

Fortunately it's been over 10 years since I did serious front line tech support. Thank god. I guess I'm getting old. Oh well, at least I don't have to deal with stupid users anymore. One of my favorites when was I was teaching an "intro to computers" class, and I had one student (an adult, about 40) trying to use the mouse in 3d space, ie Up for Up, Down for Down... I had another student trying to run the mouse accross the computer screen - literally placing the mouse on the screen and clicking. Funny. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  13. I'm not trying to be rude, but I will be blunt. What part of "Decision Altitude" did you not understand? Your question "what should the correct procedure be if you pass into decision altitude with line twists" - you cut away. Yes, even just one or two twists. If you're not going to respect your decision altitude, there's no point in having one, is there? You should be pulling at an altitude suffieciently higher then your decision alttitude so that you can easily get out of line twists LONG before then. If you've spent so much time getting out of them that you ARE approaching your decision altitude, this problem is taking WAY too long to fix, cuttaway. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

    HELP.

Are you talking during the ceremony or at the reception? One of the most beautiful operatic pieces I can think of is Ave Maria, by Schuebert. It'd be perfect for the wedding march. There's an interesting Neville Brothers rendition floating around somewhere too, but I recomend you avoid that one. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  15. This one's a bit clearer. You might want to use it instead. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  16. Ok! Ok! I take it back!!!! You ARE MOODDY! _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  17. I haven't had a cigarette since WFFC. I'm thrilled that I even managed to get through the AOT boogie, hanging around people who were smoking. The cravings hit me very seldom, usually after I started drinking. I was surprised, this time the cravings were easily managed. Zyban - I swear by it. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  18. Spinning malfunctions are usually cause by one of: a) very bad body position on deployment. b) unstowed toggle c) line-over malfunction. You can rule out B if both toggles were still stowed when you retrieved the main. You can tell if it's C if the canopy takes a strange shape during deployment. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  19. Yeah... too bad I left those sunglasses in the rental car I returned sunday night... What is it with expensive glasses? I've got a pile fo $5 sunglasses I've collected over the years, but I swear I can't hold onto an expensive pair to save my life. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

    Gear Check?

Anybody recognize the DZ from the ziptie? My first though was Eloy, but it doesn't look like the standard eloy tag.... Anyone else? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  21. I just ordered Hot&Sour Chicken and Shrimp, Chicken Satays, Sesame Peanut noodles, and a shrimp summer roll from Big Bowl. Yummy. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  22. Yeah, and now I need to trudge half-way across town, cause you guys just completely KILLED my server. Oops. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  23. Collapsable pilot chutes: 1) are required by high performance canopies. not an issue for you. 2) reduce drag, allowing for faster flight. This means in addition to slightly faster landings, you'll also have slightly better penetration into the wind, and will have a slightly easier time getting back from long spots. 3) pose less of a problem should the pilot chute come over the front edge of the canopy. Some people say that you should get an uncollapsable one, because you might forget to cock the pilot chute during packing. This makes no sense to me. Either you know how to pack, or you don't. "forgetting" to cock the pilot chute makes as much sense to me as forgetting to set the brakes, it's just not an issue. Generaly when people ask me about gear, with the exception of the main canopy I always recomend gear that they'll be able to use for a very long time. While a collapsable pilot chute won't make a big difference now, it will make more of a difference on your second canopy. Buy gear that you plan to keep. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  24. That's the reason I bought the swivel mount from skydance photography. I don't regret that choice at all. It's trivial to change the verticle alignment of the camera. The horizontal centering is another issue, however. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  25. Um... photoshopping pictures for print ads isn't just normal, it's expected. Aparently he photoshopped it to show his logo on the canopy more clearly. There's absolutely nothing wrong with some retouching on legitimate news pieces, NEVER MIND ADVERTISEMENTS. If you want REALLY bad taste, I was walking into a convenience store at a gas station, and there was a poster showing a very stylised firefighter riding a fire engine through manhattan, super imposed over a US flag. The caption? "Marlboro". _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
