I think its time for some repairs... mine is starting to get a bit worn. Where should I send it? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I managed to get one jump on a Cobalt. Granted that one jump is a very poor evaluation, I'll post my thoughts anyways. I would categorise the opening by saying it was violently searching, alternating hard turns to the right and left. My initial impresion under canopy was simply, "I do NOT like this canopy...." Because one jump is hardly grounds to judge a canopy, I am not even going to suggest that other people might have this experience. I will say that I did not find that one jump at all to be consistent with the ravings I've heard of the Cobalt opening. I would have considered doing a second jump had I not fractured my ankle trying to land it. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

This one sounds like a lot of fun. I wish I could be there. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Again, it really depends what you want to use it for. The .3 is a very, very, very wide angle lense. Yes, it is good for freeflying, and also taking video from inside an RW formation. That's about it. Since you're buying the camera now, and won't start jumping it for a while, what will you use it for in the meantime? Will the .3 work for that as well? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I think we can only think of the words of Kermit the Frog here. "It's not easy being green". _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Why? You've never heard of a pair of scissors? Swapping out gear is probably something you want to involve your rigger in anyways, so making some things a bit more labor intensive can have benefits. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Dacron = big-assed lines. Commonly used on student gear. Larger pack volume, increased drag, lasts longer. Microline = thin stuff. Commonly used on high performance canopies. Small pack volume, needs to be replaced every 300-500 jumps. 550 or 825 microline? Simple. Are you a fatass like me? If you're over... I dunno. 180lb naked, you probably want the 825. If you're heavier and go with the 550, it'll need replacing sooner. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Didn't RWS do exactly this at one time - lease the tandem rigs to the DZ/instructor? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I supose we're arguing semantics, but I was taught how to build that exact bomb (diesel and fertalizer) in my grade 7 chemistry class. In fact, we built one, then took it out to the school yard and detonated it. You may or may not want to call it crude, but it certainly was not complex. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I wonder how long until people start accusing Bush of attacking Iraq to improve his dropping popularity? This would NOT be the same people who accused Clinton of using Iraq to draw attention from the monica Lewinski affair, but probably would be the same people who accused G.B. (senior) of doing it to boost HIS failing popularity. I really don't know if the US should attack. I do know they've consistently done a terrible job of justifying an attack both to the American people and their allies. I hope that if they do attack, they have good reasons they just haven't told us about. _Am _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Their Volkswagon Bug came to hinckley last year. It was pretty lame. And no, the reps wouldn't jump. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

If you zoom in on a wide angle lense you're going to start getting distorion... I can't really explain WHY, the physics of lenses is a bit beyond my education, but I know this from my former life as an amateur photographer. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Sorry Paula, I'm buggin out! I probably won't be making it this time, I'll meet ya some other time. I REALLY need to save some cash, my injuries still haven't healed as well as I'd like, plus I've got a new GF and want to spend some time with her. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Keep in mind the .3 will be way to wide for many purposes. If you get the .3 you will probably also want a .43 or .5 for doing different kinds of photography. Of course if you're just going to be freeflying, then the .3 is great. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

155 for me... which is high. I usually test around 130. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Quite correct. If I remember correctly, most of the rumors circulating on september 11 had the attacks blamed on a rebel palestinian group, not Al-Qaida. Isn't revisionist history fun? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

The fact that there's some whackos in the world who come up with this stuff doesn't surprise me. There's allways been whackos, there always will be whackos. What never ceases to amaze me is the number of otherwise sane and "normal" people who eat this stuff up. Do people really not understand the concept of critical thinking? Or is it maybe that people are so afraid of reality that they seek out less frightening explanations? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

2:0:0 Another weekend of non-jumping for Andy, as I try to get myself into better shape for the fall. I did have a really cute date last night, and well.... I just got home now. Last night we went ff and saw some experimental theater "Too Much Light Makes the Baby go Blind" - which was actually 30 plays in 60 minutes. Highlights of the show were: The More Things Change, the More things stay the Same. OR bitter play by an author whose building is going condo. Several not so skilled by extremely masculine men vent their frutrstrations and anger on stage by safely operating various hand and elextric power tools on a piece of wood which, for the purposes of this very masculine play, could be seen to represent specific body parts of those greedy coroprate bitch-ass CEO's who are screwing innocent people like you and me out of our life savings. and my dates personal favorite: "SEND ME A VIRBRATOR". Good stuff. It was a reminder of how cool independent theater can be... wherever you live I'd remind you to check out whats available localy. This morning we toured an outdoor art exhibit called "Earth from above" - all pictures of the earth from airplanes... it was truely striking. A good weekend. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

What kind of computer? Laptop? Desktop? What Brand? Is the firewire port integrated into the motherboard, or is it on an add-on card? Firewire cards are pretty cheap to buy, so you can easily add a new one, if you can take out the old one... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Swoop Noodles, what's your thoughts? Good idea/bad idea?
AndyMan replied to LawnDart21's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
They're expensive, yeah - but they don't break. Plastic guards weren't common at all in the racing leagues I was in, either. I also took a few direct strikes... um... between my legs, and didn't suffer any TOO much. Just something to think about... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
