  2. Ok, I will be honest and I am a Vector fan, this said, they earned it. Their customer service is top notch (Not saying Sunpath isn't I just haven't dealt with them) Relative, makes a bullet proof rig, and they are always working on improving their rig's in every little step all the time. Now here comes my opinion and the reason for it. I did 100 jumps this week, all of them Vector3, and a Javelin odyssey (Borrowed rig, same size guy my backup rig was down) Back to back. Here is what I found. The Javelin was very comfortable on the ground, As was the Vector. But under canopy the Javelin was very uncomfortable, as a matter of fact I have bruises, from the articulated harness digging into my chest on opening. Also the Javelin seems to push you forward when opening so you are at a different angle, kinda leaning backwards, with your feet in front of you. But after 50 jump's on a Vector, and 50 Jumps on a Javelin, I was relieved everytime I opened with my Vector, it was so much more comfortable under canopy. All around, Chest, legs and Back. That said, there are a lot of Javelin and Vector jumper's out there that love their rig's. And most of them jump the hell out of them, maybe contact Relative and Sunpath, and arrange a Demo, and try them out, they are both good rig's, and this is only "my" opinon of the Javelin. One note another post altogether, Javelin doesn't have the skyhook, and this is something you will need to investigate and decide if you want also. Good luck Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  3. Anyone that know's me or my post history, and yes Chuck you know my standpoint's personally. I am a Relative Workshop fan all the way. That said, I have looked at the Racer 2k3 (I think thats the name) and it looks like a real good rig, I would have no problem jumping one of them. They look good, they are safe and also velcro free, oh yeah and very comfortable. Ok I am going to say it, this is a damn fine rig. As a matter of fact I believe, that they even changed their packing tray around, and the closing sequence is a lot easier, now. Also I am just a rigger trainee, but It is a very easy rig to pack. It takes more mental than muscle. When other rigs take more of both. That said, this has no reference to Older Racer's with velcro, that for some reason people want to include in your question about new racer's (Read the initial post question people) Heck I wouldn't want to freefly a wonderhog, or even a vector 2, I can think of about every manufacturer out there, that has made a rig I wont freefly with. Jumpshack does have very "Unique" ways of thinking about thing's, thus they wont make a soft cutaway pillow (Totally different post, but which handle will you need more force to pull cutaway or reserve deployment? This sound's strange to me someone explain why they wont do this). But I have seen a lot of Vector's and Javelin's with Jumpshack "small profile" ripcord handle's. I am sure if you want a pillow you can find someone to make you one. Probably even Terry Pike. Also you might want to ask around and make up your own mind about how your reserve is packed if you buy a Racer. They have a normal, or rubberband stowed bag on the reserve. I dont know enough about it to honestly comment, I have my idea's about it, but not enough to make your decision for you. But if your thinking about a new rig, I vote thumbs up on the new 2k3 Racer, it is a real nice rig, and it just like the v2 compred to the v3, it is nothing like the older racer's. 4. Carl Doherty, has a whole room in his house dedicated to all the medal's he won. There is pictures from all the team's and damn it there is a lot of Old school skydiver's there, Jack jeffries when he looked 15 (well he still looks 15) Dawn English when she looked 15 (Well her too) He has gold medals older than I am. I think all of them are 10 way, but I'm not sure. But all his wals are full of medals. Then to add he has another room in his house with all his world record's but that is another post all together. CUTAWAY (movie)

That is called a Molecule Exit, you get as many people in a bunch and you take a grip anywhere! You never know what will happen, its fun for a few seconds. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  6. THe 24 were all from 10'500 cranking serious point's. Well 5 of em, the last 5 were done with us having the plane to ourselves, jumping from 5000ft jump, spiral, land, re-rig, jump spiral land. And the Deland porter with 5 people climbs to 5 in about 3 minutes. Charlie even pulled up to the hangar and picked us up. I didn't even have time to take my helmet off. Yeah the chick (lise aune) is on the team, she is one bad ass skydiver, she is smiling her ass off on every jump. And damn are they fast they were turning 4 to 5 points each jump from 5000. 7. His arm is still real sore, and it's weak. But he is going to try and jump friday. I hope he gets better before the 50 jump day. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  8. Ray, were they doing this just to practice the exit? If so, then major respect! (both to the Norgies and yourself) Yep Just for the Porter Exit's. They want to do 50 jumps in a day next week, just exit's all from 3500ft. The packers are gonna hate that. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

    24

    (24) the numbers of jumps I did today. Oh Damm I am beat, tired, sore and did I say beat. Well I can say that I know what a real team trains like firsthand. Go Fast should sponsor me, because I was their best customer today, and I can say I owe it all to go- fast and Zhills water. And to add I had to jump canopies a little small for my taste (Velocity 84) Im a 96 fan. The best part is they (The Norgies) want to do a 50 jump day next week. Yeah I will be jogging tommorrow morning for sure. But all in all 24 jumps no cutaways, all killer swoop's on the course it was a good day. Oh yeah the last 5 jumps were back to back's from 5'000 ft so it was jump, spiral, land, switch rig's, run to plane (right next to hangar) ect, ect. The 50 jump day coming, all from 3'500 ft same plane. Cant wait, I actually wish Dag would get well before that day. Anyway enough of my whining, I just had to rant, and my brother said to me again, what are you complaining about I had to work today. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

  11. ***Ok, if your building a helmet, I know fiberglass can get kind of heavy from looking at some other custom helmets. Does anyone know much about the composite materials other manufacturers are using like carbon-fiber, kevlar etc... and what the process is. I know some require complicated pressure and heat curing, so that wouldn't be ideal, but any general info would be good. Almost every manufacturer that builds helmet's use's Fiberglass. Bonehead for example uses fiberglass with an outer layer of carbon, for appearance. Anyone that has drilled through one can testify. The weight of the material's in something the size of a helmet has little value, and the cost is considerate. Also a 100% carbon helmet is a lot more brittle than fiberglass. In true crash helmet's, manufacturer's use a fiberglass outer with an Kevlar inner, mainly because kevlar sucks to work with, especially when trying to get a clean edge. The heat curing has nothing to do with the material, it has to do with the resin used, some resin's have a higher temperature (glass transition temperature) to fully cure. But for a camera helmet you can buy a cheaper resin that will cure at room temp, it will just take a longer time to cure. Advanced composite can be very expensive, with a vacume pump, vacume bagging, peel ply breather bleeder, needed as well as resin, and material. But since this is just a skydiving helmet, you can make it cheaper and easier. Resin rich is weak, that is why you vacume bag, but you can get away with a mildly rich part. Wes Rich of Rim World Video makes his helmets without using any vacume, and all fiberglass, and they look great and are very light. If you are interested in making your own helmet, Wes has a do it yourself CD you can buy with step by step instruction's. And for composite tips and accessorie's try www.fibreglast.com They have an excellent how to section. Hope this help's Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

  13. Yeah Meet's suck, for some reason, most of the team's in Florida dont have a cameraman, so I have never done an FSL meet without shooting at least 2 team's, sometimes Ive split a 3rd. Then (thanks kurt) the shamrock showdown turns out to be a 10 round meet, luckily the weather kept it fun, about 8.5 rounds (time ran out) filming 2.5 team's, dubbing, (Thanks for the organization, all you that went to Nationals know when its not organized what it's like) and Oh yeah, I packed since the hour before a jump rule and I had about 15 min, to spare each hour. And Im cheap. Luckily today we had clear skie's so we went to the top, but yesteray was hectic, Props to the packers, could you imagine packing for a team that is going to 3500' back to back to back, in a -34 porter. I thought I had it bad. Also to add Porter's suck for 4way, specially with 10 people in them, and the step sux. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  14. Oh yeah I wanted to say can someone buy me a wineken. Red bull and Powebars all day just arent enough. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  15. 14 jumps today, all by 2:30pm 4 jumps yesterday all from 3500ft (filming 4way) and 7 the day before, and were booked on every load until friday. Man who ever thought that skydiving could be this tiring. Ive done many 10 a day camp's but the Norgies take the cake when it come's to training, no Oh well we cant get 10'500 lets go home, its we can get 3500 kewl lets do exit's. Hey but Im getting some killer training for the next swoop meet, except today when it was about 20mph all day. Oh well tired of ranting, im off to bed. Just had to tell someone that would understand, I told my brother, and he said om well I actually worked today you just played. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  16. If you come to Deland let me know, I'll be there all week, Killing myself filming the Norgie's, Oh my god, when they train they train, today the weather was crap and we are doing back to backs exiting from 3000 ft. Anyway if you come up see you then. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

  19. Im not so sure about NT, but with 2k your administrator can limit your ability to change your desktop setting's. Especially if your system is active directory implemented. A lot of companies do that so the screen will display a company logo ect. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

  23. I was at the spot pretty late lst night consuming mass quantities of beer and talking stuff. So he must have called late cause I was there pretty late, until they decided that 15 people drinking wasn't enough to warrant them to stay open. Edited to add: Sarge was there also as, two pretty nice guy's. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  24. OK I just recieved my camera back from CameraClinic. I sent it into Sony once before and they said they couldn't find a problem with it, and did a routine maintenance. The problem of it working only when it wanted to, came back after a few month's, so I sent it into cameraclinic (with it not working) when I sent it to sony it was working, but sometimes it wouldnt record and wanted me to eject the tape, this fixed it, but it definitely needed help since Im usually shooting competition 4way video. Here is the problem, cameraclinic reported that there was a problem with my motherboard and had to be sent to sony because they have to reprogram the board after they fix it. So before I send it into sony to get fixed, I was wondering if anyone had any idea about this and why a motherboard problem would be an off and on thing. Can you determine this without opening the camera, when I got it back you can tell it was untouched. Also has anyone else had this problem, I treat my camera very well. After reading all the post's about people dropping thier sony's and they stil work Im a little curious. One last thing, I cant make it break like it used to something they did or didn't do is making it work, and I want to send it in to Sony with the problem happening so they can see firsthand. Thankyou. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
