  1. Vector3 all the way. Having jumped the skyhook, I would reccomend it 100%. As far as the riser cover's, they are rock solid, unless you have a rigger pack the reserve that doesn't know what he is doing and puts too much material up top. Also someone said the secondary riser covers are a pain, they are real easy to use, a monkey could do it, and I wouldn't trade the security they offer for anything. I film a lot of 4way and I have never seen a vector flap open in freefall, but I have a lot of footage of other container's with open flap's. Also having dealt with Relative Workshop, their customer service is top notch. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  2. After watcing a friend land his reserve unconcious, I changed my mind on going with two pd 106r's I currently own a 126 and a 113, and If I can find a 126 in return for the 113 I might trade it. I landed a 106R nicely and it is a great flying parachute, but unconcious might be a difft story. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  3. Ian, Im just wondering, if there would be a way to Demo a Smart reserve? Strength is definitely the main reaslon I would buy a canopy, but I also want one that will fly well with the wingloading I am putting onit. Thankyou. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  4. Lucky bastard, the only intentional I did, was with a skyhook, so I had no freefall. it was like cutaway open canopy. Felt like I flared and released my toggles and then flared again. Fun but I want to try a second freefall. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  5. I know a lot of the blocks, and random's. Some by name some by letter or #, just from hearing teams talk about it before hand. But I know the Exits I like, and the ones I dont like. And any random is great. Also I know what the block is going to do ahead of time, sometimes it takes a page but after that I am anticipating it. 4way video is a challenge, but it is also very exciting. Just like the team, you have good jumps and bad one's. But nothing compares to when your at a competition and your team has a great jump, and your on top of it and rock it. I know you know, but this is for the beginners. There is 2 kinds of exits: the long ones and the tight ones. Same as blocks. But that is just from an otter ect, from a tailgate they all exit the same. The cool thing is most beginner teams just exit meeker's. Quade, I have a Dvd im 90% complete with, I would like to send to you for your opinion and maybe if there is something you might want to offer. Its a competition 4way videographer guide. Ive been playing with it for about a year and Im still not completely satisfied with it. I have a pretty strong opinion on how 4way should be shot, but I also remember how I learned and the steps it took, so I have covered all styles. Leading, same time as, and peeling, even the semi peel. Pm me and I will burn you a copy. A rough version for now. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  6. If I develop them $10 a pic, or you can pay me $15+slot for an entire roll of still's. Video also $25 plus slot. But all you get is camera turned on before we jump and off when I open. Maybe some editing if your a friend, or a hot chick (J/K, well actually) I like to shoot fun people so if your a good subject I will shoot everything and edit it for the same price, just for the fun of it. But normal everyday joe skydiver, you just get exit to opening. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  7. I understand your point, heck thats how I get my start, but if a team comes in with the intent to train hard and do 100 jumps in 10 day's, or even 200 jumps in 14 day's, then your working. You are giving up your time, using your expensive equipment, and not to mention the Money you spent learning how to fly a camera. Its a job then. If there is a weekend team that does 6 jumps a month then go for it have your fun, as long as your there hanging out, but If you have to schedule your weekend around filming someone then you should charge them, because you are providing a service to them. With professional team's they want a certain quality with their video, that is why Rickster Powell is one of the most requested videographers out there, he always gets the shot. As far as shooting Tandems for free your only cheating yourself, because the Dz is charging them, and instead of them paying you, they are keeping the Money. Im not knocking you for it, or taking a shot at you, but where I jump things are a lot diferent, Teams get free video and real cheap slots as long as they do a lot of jump's, that usually means teams saving up and scheduling camp's where they jump their asses off, Free Video slot turns in to $-18 for them and $+15 for you. And no one from my dz is going to thank you for shooting free video, Not the owner's, not the Staff. Maybe the team you shoot for, oh yeah of course they will thank you. I would if I was them! 8. And yet I continue to hear, over and over, how inexpensive people can get camera flyers for in Florida. For instance, last year I had a team complain that the rates folks were charging at Perris were too high. They said that at the rates we were charging it would be more economically feasible for them to fly in camera flyers from Florida since those camera flyers were only charging slot+$8 and over the course of a 4-day training camp that would cover airfare. I, of course, invited them to try to find anyone that would be willing to do that and never heard a word about it after that. I haven't missed a Fsl meet in 3 year's. And I also have never filmed less than 2 team's per meet. For some reason 4way teams don't or won't find a fulltime cameraman, so they train and hope to find someone for competition's. A lot of "Videographer's" I know are considering upping the rates for competitions, but it wont happen, just bs chit chat. I remember a meet last year where there was 15 teams and 5 cameramen, I was joking out loud saying lets start the bidding who gets video and who goes home, but we worked it out and everyone jumped. But I like to think I know most of the 4way videographers in florida, at least the current ones, and no one I know will jump for less than $15 unless they are on a fulltime team. You have to enjoy 4way and competition to do it, it is a lot easier to film 3 tandems and go home, and make just as much money. In Deland there is so many Good cameramen, even the people that just pass at it charge $15 because they can get it, and giving a deal is only taking money out of your own pocket, and it pisses people off. Changing the subject, It does bother me that the FSL doesn't recognize the service we provide to them, without all of us filming 2 teams and busting our asses to make it work, while they make mistakes and manifest both of the teams you are filming on the same load, or give you surprise back to backs, when you are supposed to be on a 20, then they get mad when you are late to the plane or dont have time to dub. Without videographer's there would be no FSL or NSL, some credit would be greatly appreciated. I still have an Email I recieved telling me how insignifigant videographers are. Like I said before when you have 30 tandems come in on the weekend and you can make a lot more why would you give that up to film 6, 4way jumps in a day for $90 when you can do 5 tandem's for $250, unless you enjoy competition, and also want to help make the meet happen. Thats why we have competitions when we have 10 videographers on the Dz and 6 teams without cameramen and the 3 that will do a team have to do 2 team's. Some credit would be nice, a thankyou even, especially when we contribute so much to make the meet happen, without Video there is no Competition. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  9. Team video 4way, 8way, 10way ect. The going rate is $15. If I have to travel I want a minimum # of jumps and somewhere to sleep. If it's real far I want a plane ticket. The only time a deal is acceptable is if you are a member of a Team. If a team is too cheap or cant find a fulltime cameraman they have to pay one way or the other. There is one team in particular that I bet wishes they had a 4way videographer for national's, and not a freeflyer with a camera. That said these rates are for quality videographer's, you cant really charge full price if you cant get the exit and keep falling on the team. True beginner's should film for slot, until they pick it up enough to get the exit's, and then charge, but refuse payment if they NJ the team, ESPECIALLY in a competition. Good point to think of :Pay peanuts get monkeys! Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

    Prayers please!

I went to the Hospital today to visit, but Chris was in surgery. Funny as soon as I asked where he was teh lady said I knew you were going to ask for him. She said that there ha been a lot of people to see him. So I walked to 10 different places I was sent to, so I could find out anything new. I ran out of time before school so I will try again later. Thank's for the Update Chuck, and Tamarin. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

  12. You didn't have to hold your breath for certification, in a way. You had to swim a distance holding your breath. That was waaay back in 1983. I dont believe that is still practiced any more. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

  14. Hey apples oranges ect. But its a ve 75, not 79. Not much difference but with a 230lb guy wearing 40 lbs of weight that makes you wonder??? Damn!!!!! Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  15. I did over 100 jumps in a short time with 2 different Oddssey's, and the chest rings left nasty bruises on my chest. They for some reason are turned in, when there is available straight hardware, or they could turn them out. But upon opening the chest rings have the tendancy to dig in, of course over time you get used to it, or if you do few jumps in a row you might not notice. Mirage has a similar set up, but they put padding under their ring's. I still dont see a need for the ring's, and it seems to be just an added cost. There (From my opinion) seems to be no difference between a rig with them or without them. Except the diggin in your chest with the Odyssey. Anyway it is all personal preference, too bad you have to buy it before you can decide if you like it or not. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  16. Believe it or not, I can freedive over 150 ft. As a kid at 12 years old I had astma and failed my scuba certification due to not being able to hold my breath and swim far enough. I was bound and determined to do this so I spent many a day in my pool practicing, I finally could swim an olympic pool 3 whole lengths+. And I would practice holding my breath, I can break 2 minutes easy no problem, used to scare the shit out of my ex in our hot tub. but you know what I went for my scuba cert 2 years later, and out swam my instructor that failed me, Im sure I came close to Shallow water blackout but there was no way I was coming up first. Now I have a useless talent. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

    Prayers please!

Sorry to post this here, and I will put it in the Incedent's as soon as I find out all the Detals. But right now we need to send out prayer's and hope for the best. Chris Callwell, From Ouregon suit's (Please forgive my spelling) had a freefall collision with a student today, on the sunset load. He was knocked unconcious and luckily he had a cypress. He landed on the airport ,downwind and unconcious. When the first people arrived he was still unresponsive, but later he showed signs of activity. By the time the Medivac helicopter showed up he was complaining of shoulder pain, and he had no feeling in his feet. Last heard was he was in surgery for potential spinal injury. But due to swelling it is inconclusive. Let's all pray and hope for the full recovery of one of our friend's. If anyone know's the Email for Ouregon suit's please post it, so we can all send a positive Email to Nancy, Chris's wife. It would be great to see the huge community we have here sending our support. Edited: here is the Email: ouragan4e@hotmail.com Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  18. Great idea, but I think that if you just sent your camera in they will be a little suspicious that it got returned so fast. Maybe someone else out there has a PC-5 serial# I can Borrow. Pm me if you do. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  19. Yeah! Yeah! Lets all unite and up the rates, its been $15 a jump for 4way team video for years. lets make it an even $20, $5 a person, and then for 8way make it $40 ect. Come on now were risking our lives so they can see themselves on tv. And all the team members want a copy at the end. Just Kidding. Union's sound too complicated, I eat from video work, but it's also just a fun way to make $$$ There is enough politics in the skydiving and especially the skydiving video industry, Keep it simple or suffer the ordeal's from organization. Meeting's, Due's ect, ect. 2cent's Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  20. Freefall collision? You mean you corked and kicked his lens off right? The parts for the lens can be found on the Sony web site. Its a eral easy fix, you might need to get the Phone# and call them because when you order the part online you need a part#. Or you can send the camera in and pay the $216 plus parts (This wont be covered in the waranty because it was broken by the user). If his camera is still covered by the waranty period he might want to send it in, because if he opens it and replaces the parts himself it will void the waranty. If you decide to go with ordering the part's and replacing it yourself, find me at the Dz I can help you install it. Good luck. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  21. Instead of doing just what I tell everyone to do, (Send your camera to sony for repairs) My friend suggested a company in state, that he had dealt with and could get my camera fixed in the hurry I needed. So off it went. They failed to repair it, and sent it back free of charge, something to do with needing a program to reprogram my board. So off to sony it goes, they send it back saying they wont touch it, here is why: My camera had gaffers tape to cover any possible entry point for moisture. When the other shop removed the tape to open it, the gaffer's tape stuck to my Serial Number and pulled it off, they then threw the tape away. Now I have a camera with no serial number's, and Sony wont touch it without Sn#'s I have asked the person I bought it from to try and find the box, or any record of reciept's and he said they are long gone. So now Im stuck with a Camera I cant get fixed. I wish Sony would have hard engraved some SN# somewhere, a little sticker is just stupid. Anyone have any Ideas on how to get my pc-5 fixed? 23. Ive seen the rebel 2000 for as low as $145 recently. This sucks cause mine cost me $250, as far as lens's, I would recomend the 24 I originally bought the 28 and it worked real good for tandems and 4way but just wasnt enough, I hope to buy a 20 someday, but I think I want to go digital so Im waiting before I shell out any more cash on equipment. I dont reccomend the 28-80 for skydiving video get a dedicated lens you will have much better results and its smaller. Good luck with the Rebel2000 its a good overall camera and its pretty tough for being so lightweight. Ive hit and dropped mine a bunch and it still works fine.
