  1. We were talking about the incedent in England, where the guys rig was tampered with. Someone said that it had happened to a member of Airspeeds rig a few years ago, but it was found before they jumped. I dont recall ever hearing about this and I was wondering if anyone knew of it, or if this is even true. Supposedly the rig was lent to someone not on the team, and he did an inspection, and found something cut. Just curious? Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  2. I had someone "liberate" my canopy from me also, lucky we had a witness, and the police were called, the person denied having it, and the detectives were brought in, he was offered arrest or return, he chose return. Good luck, and I would definitely call the cops on your "Friend". Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  3. You are talking about a Sigma right? The cost is more but, it is 70% safer, so how can you put a price on safety. You owe it to yourself as well as your passenger, Definitely your passenger. Add $10 to the price of every jump if you have to. You can even put in your tandem sales pitch, "Our tandems are $10 more expensive, because we use the safest tandem system in the world, and it cost's more." Well good luck, there are a few people out there that buy rigs and lease them so you should have no problem finding one. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  4. Kolla you should try a Velocity, Now that is a canopy!!!! Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  5. My Dz uses the New Vector3 Student rigs, Im glad to see they finally got freefly safe student rigs, because most new students want to fly headdown and sitfly right after aff, I dont agree with it, but it happens and with the old student gear, that was a recipe for disaster. 6. Well the movies arent the best, but CUTAWAY and DROPZONE are being played on use, back to back. For those of you stuck at home, its not that painful to watch, and might make your day fun. Oh yeah, try counting all the rigs you see, without risers on them, we made a drinking game out of it, everytime you see someone without risers, you do a shot. 7. go fast and Power Bars!!! Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  8. Where can I get one? Are you other Birdmen thinking what Im thinking? Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  9. I saw the worst and best thing ever because of this. I had just gotten out of Hospital for my broken leg (low hook) and I was thinking about giving up skydiving ect. I went to the dz and just opened my beer, when I see someone open a reserve low as hell, and spin up and spiral down at a high rate of speed until impact. It made me sick to my stomache and left the dz immediatly. The next night Im at the bar and this girl comes up to me with a sling on her arm, and asks me what happened? I told her and she told me about how the day before, she had both arms dislocate, and she couldnt pull anything, her cypress fired, and she spun up and spiraled in. Here is the good part, she was fine, and the impact actually popped her one arm in, and the other was set by a doctor. She found out at the E-Room that she has a condition and her arms can pop out easily, so she was going back to Norway to have surgery. The worse thing is I thought I saw someone go in, the best thing is she lived!! But if you have a problem with your arms dislocating, be very carefull. I also at the Turkey Boogie this year at Zhills watched a cypress save due to the same thing on the last load of the day. Be Carefull, and for sure use a cypress. 10. Im just curious why, you recieved the letter on the 26th and it took this long to issue a recall? Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  11. There is 2 new Birdman instructors in Deland today. Congrat's to Tamer Baker for his new rating, oh and the other one his name is, well its me!!!! Guess there will be 2 cases of beer, one from each of us, after our FIrst lesson as official Birdman instructors. Blue ones. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  12. Well I haven't been on for a while but if it hasn't been said, Jari of Birdman was on CNN Saturday with a replay Sunday. It was a great interview, and I hope someone has it to put on the web. I recorded it on vhs, luckily Jari was out partying with me on my birthday and told me about it, so I knew in advance. Could you believe the non skydiving producers wanted him to be filmed waking up in his birdman suit, and eating breakfast and going to the dz, like (Jari the Birdman). It ended up a very educational, an well done peice, nothing stupid, Jari explained it all well. Jari is a class act and very well spoken, and all of us birdmen were done proud. Anytime someone from our community makes us look good to the unknowing community, we all gain something. Jari has taken one from the realtv vidiots and given one back to us skydiver's. 13. Yeah, its a chunk of change, but it takes care of a good handful of potential bad scenerios that can happen on a Vector (or just about any other Tandem Rig for that matter). Although, I'm not in any way trying to say that the Vector Tandems are in any way unsafe. Quote 70% safer, pre skyhook. How can you not afford to not use them. Can you put a price on your instructors/Passengers? Tandem Passengers dont know about safety and gear they trust anything, so for your gear, I think any price is worth 70%, anyone who doesn't is too cheap to care about peoples lives. If a car manufacturer could offer a guaranteed 70% better chance of living while driving their car, would you buy it? Hell yeah I would buy it! As a sport jumper, if someone could offer you a rig that was 70% safer than what you want to jump would you think twice about buying it? Now think again honestly and answer. Say a car manufacturer says, you cant get a blowout and it wont skid in the rain, kinda similar to "you cant get a horshoe and an out of sequence deployment is impossible". Now add the skyhook and a collins lanyard as extra's.*** My thought is that if a TM or a DZO is worried about safety to the point of wanting to retrofit a Vector Tandem for a Skyhook, then why don't they buy a Sigma system?Quote Exactly!!!!!! 14. You might want to look into that a little, maybe some manufacturers might say that. But not many sport risers are designed to break before the passenger. Ask about webbing types and strengths and why manufacturers use certain webbing types. Mini risers are usually built for pack volume and convinience, not to break before the passenger. The whole reason RWS tandem risers are designed to break is because a terminal tandem opening (especially a slammer) is nothing like a terminal opening for a single person opening. I have talked to Bill about this a few times, hopefully he will explain it all to you and me. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  15. Im have seen a few retrofit's out there, so its being done. Call RWS im sure they can tell you all about it. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  16. Actually, they have an even newer design, much better than the little tab's, they were good but didnt hold up to a lot of jumps. I saw the new design this weekend, I like it, but we will see how it holds up in time. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  17. Bill the one thing I dont think these people are understanding, is that Tandem riser's, are designed to break if an opening is so hard it would hurt, or kill the passenger's. as you know (since its your idea) and not many people do know. A sport rig, is hardly ever going to open hard enough to kill the user, (except with a head down fast opening ect.). So the need for the collins lanyard is greater with a tandem system, than a sport system any day. This is one of the many things that RWS planned out well, and that is what makes them such a good company. Designing a riser to be extremely secure and strong, yet able to break if needed under a severe opening, while also having a system like the collins lanyard to make sure if one riser breaks the other one will be cut away, and the reserve will fire. Maybe you can invent a system that you cant have an out of sequence deployment with a tandem, then you would have the safest tandem system in the world. Oh yeah too late. 18. Big rubber bands, double wrapped also helps. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  19. Yeah that one actually cost me Beer, That was my first real save, even if it was supposed to be intentionally cutaway, when he had a Mal he had no choice. Glad to see my pack job worked. About using the skyhook, I have a cutaway with the skyhook, it was amazing how fast and clean it opened. I did my best to get unstable and turn when I cutaway, and it pulled me straight and opened perfectly on heading in about 80 ft. I raced it to get my ripcord and there was no contest, I had open canopy before I could get my hands on the ripcord. I would recommend the skyhook to anyone that asked me, and I would have no problem including it into my rig and jumping it myself. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  20. Right click "my network places" then "properties" then right click "local area connection" then "properties" then "advanced" then enable the network connection firewall. This will only work if you have cable or dsl. If you have a modem this wont work. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  21. I dont need to design the perfect rig, RWS already did it for me, my Vector3 is optimal to my taste. I think that most of the manufacturer's out there today have addressed the saftey issue's, and most of what rig you buy is more on what you think looks good. I personally like RWS because I have dealt with them a lot, and their customer service towards me has always been top notch. My rig is bulletproof, and I trust it %100. The only thing I dont like about vector's is the reserve pin scarr's the reserve flap. But I have seen that on a few other rigs out there. I have jumped a lot of different rig's in the past and the present, even though there was nothing wrong with them, I am comfortable with my set up, and wouldn't change it. I am considering trying out a newly designed set of riser's, that are suposed to have a great design. That will be the only non RWS and PD thing I own. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  22. Psycho packing is named wrong, it should be called psycho bagging, its still a pro pack. But why change the way you pack whatever style you use, if you dont roll the nose on a pro-pack why would you do it with a psycho-pack/bag. Rolling the nose on an old saber is reccomended, but the saber2 opens so good there is never a need to do this, and you risk an extra long opening if you pack it this way. Has your canopy, ever had end cell enclosure before? If it has then it might be underloaded. End cell enclosure isnt a bad thing, you can just pull your risers or toggles and it will clear. If you continue to have a problem, you can always bring it to the nice folks at pd and have them check it out, they have awesome customer service and will help you with any problem. Good Luck. 23. I used to use Kenko, and Sony lenses, and they would fog, but now I use a Diamond lens, I have no problem whatsoever, even on the mugiest florida day. Its a solid piece of glass, so there is no equiliztion problems and its solid glass. I did make sure I put my camera and lens in a bag with silica gel packs in the bottom, for a few hours, then while in the bad, I screwed the lens on, so there wouldnt be any residule moisture in between the lens and the camera. You can buy silica gell at most hobby stores, and if you are having moisture anywhere near your camera, humidity ext, you should store your camera when your dont with some near it to remove the moisture, camera's hate moisture. If you dont want to buy a Diamond lens there is a real interesting article by Wes Rich from skydiving Magazine a few months back, where he describes in great detail how to anti fog your lens. Good luck. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  24. Jonathan -- with all due respect, that is pure BS. If video is part of your team, then where is the camera flyer's name, bio and photo on your team web site? GO QUADE, your making me proud! Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
  25. Quote So, I'm glad I did them, because now I feel like a real skydiver. All I can say is (BEEEEER)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
