Also talk to SCUBA divers about using the valsalvo method for clearing your ears. It is harder to do as a solo flyer (especially flying camera like me) but it is fairly easy to clear your ears at first sign of pressure as a tandem. steveOrino

I've used both the Conceptus bite switch and tongue switch. I've had to send all of them back multiple times. However, Conceptus customer service is second to none. One email and they will send you a new one same day with a requet to send the old one back. Now I keep two as someone else said, when they bail on you, it is at the worst possible time. It seems the tongue switch fails when the membrame around the switch allows in moisture. Would it be a good preventive measure to put a small balloon over the switch to keep moisture out? Anybody do that? Just curious. steveOrino

My view is tainted I admit. I was in the Army during a time they were trying to intergrate the sexes at any cost. They lowered the standard of jump school so some women could be airborne qualified. Maybe they still do now, I don't know, I've heard both. But depsite what they may do now --back in the late 70s they did produce a second standard. Then when I was in Special Forces a cadet petitioned to go through the SF Officer's course. She had some political weight somewhere, and she was allowed in the training. She flunked land nav and tried to sue the government stating she was a victom of sexism. Gimme a break! So, my views on women in combat are mixed, but for good reason. steveOrino

After reading some of the other crap on SC, I think W did it. Or Clinton. Depending on whose side you are on one of them had to have a hand in it. steveOrino

Upon first glance you'd think that the Union was very open and the south was racist. BS! BS then, BS now. The South was pro slave more for economics reasons than racial attitudes. The North was anything but a racial equal opportunity place. They were free states simply because their economics didn't depend on slave labor. They were/are as racist as anyone, with exception to abolitionist which resided in all states, free and slave IMHO steveOrino

Stills (and videos) when sun is directly overhead of tandem
steveorino replied to steveorino's topic in Photography and Video
Backlight washes out everything when sun is not directly over them, such as launch from door. other modes such as beach & ski, landscape won't work with the Royal Diamond .3 lens I also fly close with this wide angle lens. If you don't the subject is too far away. But around noon the tandem's face is dark. By 3 PM all is okay. I thought about jumping the light I use for night jumps. I wonder if that would help? steveOrino -
Stills (and videos) when sun is directly overhead of tandem
steveorino replied to steveorino's topic in Photography and Video
Anybody have a solution for the dark shadows I see on the tandem student's face when the sun is high over head and the TM is casting a pretty big shadow over them? I use auto settings on the HC40 because the wide angle lens (.03) won't allow me to use presets. steveOrino -
Body Position in freefall for good skydivers ??
steveorino replied to skrovi's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I believe you need 7 hours of freefall, plus other objectives. Don't believe everything you read. steveOrino -
I was curious as I too have read many of the skulls were later found to not be that old, not human, etc. I'll research those other websites later. Thanks. BTW, I'm a Christian but not a 7 literal day creationist. I simply do not believe Genesis was written to be a "science" book. steveOrino

Fuck me Paj, the best you can do is plagarise a Jack Chick cartoon!!???!! http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0055/0055_01.asp http://www.kent-hovind.com/chick/daddy.htm I really think you should get your bullshit-o-meter recalibrated. So are you saying there is documented scientific fact that Chick (and Jay) are wrong in their assessment? steveOrino

I didn’t understand what that movie was about. The words were printed too fast to read. I just sat there bored, thinking to myself What Ever!! Read the gospel of John from chapter 17 until the end. steveOrino

Personally, I strongly supported the war in Afghanistan. I was hesitant to support Iraq, and I'll be dang if I think going to Iran is a good idea. Heck, why not jump on Korea too. A war in 4 fronts. That has a good track record, right? steveOrino
