  1. I understand. My mom died Dec 17, 1983 when I was 27. I lived in Alaska and she lived in TX. I couldn't get there in time before she passed away from cancer at age 54. I despised any secular celebration of Christmas for years. Time doesn't heal all wounds, but one day you will wake up and on Mother's Day, Christmas, etc. it won't be the first thing you think of that day. Hang in there. steveOrino
  2. I had one -- not near as good as image as the HC40 and the 19 is heavier too. But it is a good camera. steveOrino
  3. I have the 40 -- love it -- I don't have the 32, but I wouldn't want to use anything with a docking system if I didn't have to. steveOrino
  4. I guess you'll have to settle for Beetle Baily steveOrino
  5. Another question, you say your son was born with COPD, did you smoke a lot when you were pregnant with him or something? I don't mean to sound rude but tobacco is the main cause of this condition. Just curious. UntamedDOG To the unwise and those who assume. She did not say her son was born with COPD. She said Progressive Pulmonary Disease. There is a big difference. She may have been indicating her child had something like Cystic Fibrosis. And no, you can't get COPD from your mother smoking. steveOrino
  6. No, THIS is the best far side cartoon ever published. steveOrino

Ooops! I thought it was about the company I buy my computers from. (Oklahoma Asset & Recovery Systems) steveOrino
  8. Yep, if you ever seen anybody fly by you at freefall speed while you're sniveling under canopy, it'll make you track away on all future skydives. steveOrino
  9. NO, it was that combination of hery high sun 2PM and very low cloud layer (around 4,000) The white clouds on the bottom reflected back up for brighter, crisper colors. Plus the dude had on a bright orange and blue jumpsuit.
  10. You can get cat crap or other anti-fog stuff from sporting good stores that sell ski or scuba gear. steveOrino
  11. Really? Any other videographers switch their cameras off BEFORE they dump? I know I don't. [emphasis mine] steveOrino

    my new Porche

Okay, but my dream car is a Porsche 911 Targa. I prefer older models though. steveOrino
  13. Many people consider religion as form of death denial. So beit. Last night I went over to a friend's house whose son was killed in Irag earlier that day. I didn't give him any religous quotes or scriptures. We cried and I listened to him talk about his son. Both the deceased son and father are Christians. Do we find comfort in our faith? You betcha. Is Christianity a crutch? You tell me. But thinking about him and my son-in-law who has done two tours in the middle east (and going back in the fall) and my son who is in Special Forces, who will no doubt be there soon, I'm a man who needs something to lean on. I don't mind admitting that. I wouldn't want to face this world without hope. Jesus gives me hope. steveOrino

  15. I don't doubt this, but how do illegals get government assistance? steveOrino
  16. Recently, Discovery Channel contacted our DZ to do the reenactment of the "double mal" from Arkansas. They knew we did the tandem and video for Extreme Makeover:Home Edition that same month. We thought about it and knew they were going to present it as a poor girl who has a double malfunction rather than she cut away a good canopy with end cell closures and road a reserve all the way to the ground with one brake stowed. Sometimes the money or the 15 seconds of fame isn't worth being associated with stupidity. steveOrino
  17. Sad, but that about sums up many Christians and churches doesn't it? I'm glad I've found the thread of truth buried under all the BS. steveOrino
  18. funniest response I've read in a long time! I admit it is rather tabloidesque. I was reading an online sports magazine and it said they were an "item". Just a gut reaction. steveOrino
  19. My wife prefers me with the goatee. I shaved the mustache off last month (for the third time in 30 years) Personally, I prefer sans mustache. steveOrino
  20. If Matt is the hottest guy on the market, I believe he could do a lot better than Paris Hilton! It doesn't say much about his decision making. No wonder Young and Cutler were taken ahead of him in the draft. steveOrino
  21. In a Hollywood bombshell with a Sin City twist, Paris Hilton and Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart went public Tuesday with their romance in Las Vegas. -- Las Vegas Review-Journal No wonder he dropped to 10th in the draft. What a loon! steveOrino
