  1. No..it just makes you someone with a severly bad taste in colour.. Ill shoot you some pix on MSN...not everything is a public show and tell.. And we are doing the same, but also trying to keep it realtistic and do-able in the execution..and just throwing the F word, B word and L and Q word in there for good measure and fun.. If Tobi also used those same weights during the time and distance rounds, personaly Id say yes. Though Klaus and Costyn decided the body and wingsuit design are already enough variable factors, and I also agree with that one. Looking at it from a simplistic pov. if heavy people object to skinny people winning freefall-time competitions, all they have to do is loose weight and become skinny as well. Or just whoop their skinny asses in the speed and distance rounds. What might be fun is if people (like Tony/Jeff/Justin etc) organised some 'SM1 only' or 'XS only' GPS competitions. That way you could get a much clearer view on the actual pilots skills (or at least, comparing build and skill roughly), and take the different suit models/designs out of the picture. Might be nice as well, having a Vampires only/Blades only/SuperMach1/S-Fly Expert 'only' competition organised by the manufacturers, to get a general view of what different skilled/built people can do with the same suit design. I remember you complaining how you didnt have the XS in time for Marl. At that time it wasnt a commercialy available suit for everyone exept people close to TonySuits. As was the PF prototype/special suit flying at Marl. I think people showing up in tweaked or costum designs twice the size of commercialy available suits pissed people off more (or at least creates a sad vibe of 'how am I supposed to compete with that') than anyone would be bothered with a skinny dude. The thing is...there are a bazillion things to B about...or even C about.. But just sticking with the simple basics that seem to work, and accepting the variables for what they are...its all part of the game.. Do share...all I have is 107 neptune screen protectors from Scotts raffles at the An72 boogie ooh yea..and a bouncy ball with leds..! Cant beat that one
  2. Though I understand your answer, I also think there wasnt any real negative thinking behind the (obvious) statement he made, just taking a gander at the results.. He's not like Tristan..who just asks for a good ass-whooping every once in awhile, because he secretly enjoys em JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. Thats the beauty of it all...We try all the stupid shit so other dont have to repeat it again... And as to own wingsuit design..the suit we're flying know has been made to our specs, and I just got that one back from the rigger this morning, after about 200 euros worth of modifications? Found a non-gay one though (even though it would have been more fitting to have a gay one do it). And talking with that same rigger about actually making a 100% own design instead of modifying a suit thats already out there. Not that I believe I have the magical upscaling solution that will outfly everything out there. But just because its fun, and I like actually doing stuff instead of just bitching about it online But I like the letter F! And risk dying a slow death? I dont think thats ever going to happen...if anything, it might cause more bitching online by people like you...but die..neeehhh...but when it does..Ill be sure to come to the competitions you are organising JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. Hey..at least my armzippers stay closed QuoteIn Russia there were weight categories. I would personally like to see wingloading used in competitions. I will tell you how that can be done easily By starting the tristan school of wingsuit flying, and organising your own competitions....but I guess thats like comments on every single suit you fly..yet Im still waiting for you (and Yuris) own design..the comments always stop when there is active effort involved or required Its fun writing 10 page theories, but the transition to reality isnt always doable.. Your 5 minute measuring and weighing will mean you will spend the first 2 to 3 hours at a big boogie measuring people, only to end up with an extra variable in the judging that nobody actually gives a flying F about JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. Ive done over 200 mph dives in a wingsuit..surely that cant be the way to win the speed round? Some comps choose to 'loose' the worst score, others use different altitudes. But thats a thing thats up to every organiser to choose. Every competition that chooses to use the (Free!) PPC website for their competition will use the same basic rules though. So lets hope these (the 3km >2 km altitude window) become standard. Or somebody else comes up with a working standard. With the 100+ different models, build etc. this is quite impossible to incorperate unless you want somebody with a scale and rules measuring every person for a few days before the competition starts. Do try and keep things realistic Thats what the PPC competition will enable you to do. Every competition has its own 'event score', but the scores also go into the general database for the individual competition. For the near or far future, this means you can also do suit comparisons etc. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. The website FlyLikeBrick and Paralog are proud to present the next chapter on wingsuitcompetition.com The Paralog Performance Competition so what is it The competition will have three different ways of judging (depending on what you like) for time, distance or highest (ground/forward)speed, and doesnt use time, but rather a set competition window of 3km/2km for judging. Though still subject to wind, it should be a more honest comparison/friendly competition (or just monitoring your own performance) than the time based method other websites/competitions uses. In combination with the (either full registered version or demo) Paralog users will be able to upload their tracks from either GPS (time/distance/speed) or neptune, protrack and Altitrack (time). events Next to the online competition, the website can also serve as a base for your dropzone competition on any of the sub-disciplines. All you need is a plane, people wanting to fly, some GPS or Neptunes/Altitracks and a working internet connection. If you want to organize a cool competition at your home DZ, one email is all it takes to get started! software There is no setup fee or any other charge. For use in on a dropzone event one full version of paralog is the only thing you need as an organizer. For the (non event) competition on individual basis, the (soon to be released) demo version of paralog will be all you need. Though respecting the time and effort put into this, its of course appreciated if you choose to order a full version of the software (with which you also get acces to the many other exiting features). Both in the demo and full version, all you need to do it hook up your GPS, import the data and click the submit to PPC button. The software will do all the cleaning/cuttigg of the data to the needed bits for you. Meaning there is no complex technical nerdness required to participate. give the man some credit Again, A big up for Klaus, who supports the FLB 'free for all' mentality. And seeing the man does this stuff for free, do concider picking up a copy of paralog officially if you like the initiative. Its hardly costs a penny, but greatly helps Klaus put more R&D into this stuff, as opposed to his day-job which pays the rent. And buy Costyn (and his lovely girlfriend/soon to be wife) a beer when you see him, as he put in countless hours getting this website up and running. Its going to be only a short time before the website is released in full for general (non event) use, so keep an eye on this thread for further news and updates from Costyn and Klaus. If you have questions, comments or general feathers to stick up their arses, feel free to do that here as well. sponsors Though not needed, PPC could use some fun prizes. If any manufacturers feel they could use PPC for their own marketing by advertising their product in form of a prize, do send us a note at flylikebrick@gmail.com. 7. The scoring system used on this competition is quite the same as every other distance, speed or time competition so far. The only difference is that VISUALY Costyn and Klaus choose to represent the scores with a system where the best score is 100% and each lower score gets a percentage of that one. But in terms of absolute numbers, its (like every other competition besides trackinderby) a race with a set competition altitude. The only addition I could see is that of a minumal glide ratio of 1.xxx for the speed round (so people dont just fly headdown with all wings closed) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. These competitions are great fun, but keep in mind a lot of the results these days depend on weight, height, skill, winds (everyone had +- 400 meters more on their 2nd round, practice or wind?) if you took a dump or had a big breakfast etc etc. Putting labels on which suit flies better or worse based on these results is quite impossible. Give the flyers the credit, and immidiately burn people or certain models because they perform less in one competition. In Marl, a lot of people (Jeff, Justin, me etc) dove into the competition altitude, scoring quite horribly. Everyone has his 'on days' and 'off days'. And even on good days, its still possible to f*ck up and score low. The TonySuit XS (SM1 follow up) is outperforming all previous models from their own fleet from what I get, yet all of the flyers flew the suit for the first time in marl, and didnt have time to get used to their suit. Had Marl been held now instead of 4 months ago, they probably would have scored a lot higher as well. I believe in this case, Tristan had an arm zipper come loose in freefall on one jump, and also scored low for that jump. Meaning he could probably have ended a lot higher in the score than his current 4th place. And regarding bad performance..maybe its also stress.. I mean...you and I can fuck up any competition..it wouldnt influence sales...as we are not selling anything. Yet Tony, Robi, Loic...those guys also put their own company on display with their scores..the pressure is always on to score good..dont kill em if they have a day where they score less JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. Small update from Klaus, Neptune/ProTrack uploads are now also supported, and only some admin acces things need to be changed before the (for ppc fully functional demo)version of paralog comes online... So even technilogically impaired people who only have a silly logging device can partricipate. If there are any companies/manufacturers that are interested in sponsoring this competion, and offering a prize for the top score in the time competition (which is the only one not influenced by outside factors such as wind), which will run for a certain amount of time, and then be reset for the next competition, feel free to contact us at flylikebrick@gmail.com with your offer. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. Side note on the www.wingsuitcompetition.com/ppc/ website. Though used for this event, its not in 100% working order yet for off-competition use, but will be online final (with an official release note by its creators Costyn from FLB and Claus from Paralog here on dz.com and probably also for the different magazines) Costyn and Klaus are working their asses off to make this website available for everyone for free, through the (new/soon te be released) demo version of Paralog (which you'll use for uploading your GPS tracks). The competition will have three different ways of judging (depending on what you like) for time, distance or highest (ground/forward)speed, and doesnt use time, but rather a set competition window of 3km/2km for judging. Though still subject to wind, it should be a more honest comparison/friendly competition (or just monitoring your own performance) than the time(and money) based method trackingderby uses. In time, features might be added which will allow people to compare suits for performance on time/speed/distance (to please the numbers junkies who like comparing suits instead of their pilots) so everyone should be smiling. And the time results will most likely also get fallrates listed. For the time competition, submission through recording altimeter devices such as Neptune, protrack and Altitrack might be made possible as well in the near or further future.. But for now, getting the basic framework up and running is the #1 priority, as Gransee launched the site into active duty a few weeks ahead of time. A big up for Klaus, who supports the FLB 'free for all' mentality. And seeing the man does this stuff for free, do concider picking up a copy of paralog officialy if you like the initiative. Its hardly costs a penny, but greatly helps Klaus put more R&D into this stuff, as opposed to his day-job which pays the rent. Keep an eye on flylikebrick.com and/or dz.com for news on the sites official release to the public. This message was brought to you by FlyLikeBrick low budget wingsuit flyers! 11. Great article Spot. Watching you fly in all the vids everywhere, its clear you're becoming one of the better flyers out there! Cant wait to finaly share a drink and hopefully make a jump with you! Side subject... Cant wait to finaly see some of those 4 miute flight times at the freefall competitions. The best score there so far wouldnt warent anything more than a few seconds over a 3 minute flight from 12k, and those are usually scores with a dive/flare prior to the comp altitude window. Post those logs..its been 2 years of talking about it...when will we finaly see those full altitude sustained 27 mph fallrates.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. Who's supergirl? Im thinking of a blonde in spandex from a cheesy 80s movie, but its probably another person we're talking about? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. Yea..its one awesome toy.. Wingsuit dragracing...cant wait to see Christian participate in Marl next year with this baby. See what forwardspeed he sets flying this baby! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. Congrats on your 2 minute flight! 48 mph is a really nice fallrate not everyone can set on those 'old fashioned small-winged birdsuits' 3 minutes here you come!? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. Ive seen people go into spins on small suits and big suits. Leg stances 40 cms wide and a legstance so wide a female pornstar would watch in envy.. Talk to any wingsuit flyer (aka birdman) and 90% of the people will not have come closer to a flatspin than a silly tumble at exit.. So you're just too damn good a pilot, or maybe not flying your suit hard enough JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. Though (like any other subject here) everyone has his own idea's and theories as to how and why. The definition you just wrote is roughly how I feel.. Barrelrolls (intentional or unintentional during exit) with the legwing open, and then not closing the legwing, but tucking in the arms (making your body a heavy center, and the open legwing a propelor) combined with the turn created by the incorrect barrelroll, seems to be the biggest reason people encounter spins. Craig had a nice one at the Herc Boogie in 2004. Incredibly fast, yet stabilised instantly as soon as he tucked in his legs/balled up. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. And he jumped from a plane at 12.000 ft, and made it across without effort (or loss of altitude, and exiting OVER land still)... Freakin sweet! Wonder when he'll take off with his wing! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. It would be hyppocratic if I was a BMCI, but Im not..? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. I think that one depends on why someone follows a trainingprogram in the first place. To become capable at instruction, and get some tips and pointers on how to teach people properly... Or to get a (albeit meaningless) rating/number they can put it in their dz.com sigline along with all other numbers and credits... If someone asks me if Im an instructor..sure..I teach people to survive a wingsuit jump, and use my own guidelines (based on guidelines set by people who quite often dont follow those same guidelines anymore). If they ask me if Im official in any way..no.. BMI/PFI/N.E.R.D./PeePee numbers dont really mean anything to me. I followed an instruction program from one of the many manufacturers to learn/improve the way I teach, but that about it.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. ps. Good to see you stopped agreeing...you scared me for a second there.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. Haha...'not hitting on the concept'..actually wishing I could be there for the bigway stuff. Though its fun to poke at the politics some people try to involve in that one, Im 100% with the concept and (though Im not going to make it there) offered to help out with 3d animations on the build/seperation for briefing (if needed). As to the actual name of the record, Im 100% sure it will be the biggest formation ever flown, but also get the point some raised, on how you can call a record 'official' if there is no 'official' rating involved (even though It doesnt matter if anyone in the biggest flock actually cares about that stuff). But that wont change a single thing on how it will feel for anyone IN that actual formation, and how awesome pics will look on that thing. Fun talk on that subject aside...having seen Jeffs diveplan, Im 100% sure its something that can be put together with the right people. And the list of flyers so far seems to be more than that. And its mostly going to come down to seeing how well people in the Nth row of the formation are capable of dealing with the breathing in the formation. No matter if it will be a 35, 50 of 71 way. Its definately going to be the event of the year. And death spins...yea..I believe there is a 'simple flatspin' you can recover from. And the videos Ive seen of people being in an 'out of controll' one, all involved people with legs extended/wide open, and being way to busy cutting away armwings without reason (you're actually taking away the big control surfaces and turning yourself into an even bigger/better propellor) instead of just balling up to get out of it. Spins of death are a myth, and the SkyFlyer1 rocks the hizzle The Peepee, was a reference to UncleCharlies brilliant quote about wingsuit wars...but Ill leave the pee stories for my book "Pee and me" JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. shit..I didnt post this stuff thinking someone would actually agree... Could we quickly find something else to talk and bitch about, to keep the spirit of the dz.com wingsuit forum alive? Did you hear about those two record/biggest formation ever events in November. Word is that one of those two is gonna suck... Also heard that Birdman is now offering Jeans next to Parapak and Balloon ZP as a choice of material on the Blade. I can fly 21 MPH sustained..just not in competitions when there is actual equipment there to register the data and times I love swimming in peepee..everyone is welcome in my pool..the water is warm! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. I learnt to backfly on an S1 (for which its perfect, due to the smaller legwing). Love that suit to death...the thing wobbles when you max it out..big deal.. Anyone complaining about spins and near death experiences just needs to learn to fly and stop scaring others with made up stories or their own lack of experience when they put the (back then) INSANELY big wings on JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. You must have flown a Skyflier 1. That suit has a worst reputation than the actual performance. When you try to max it out, or fly it wrong (massive de-arch) its a bit wobbly. But some people put a stamp of 'deathtrap' on the suit, while there are quite a few people flying them now (because the 'bad suits' where on sale for cheap) and kick some serious ass.. I want a "my other suit is a Skyflyer1" patch! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. Dude..it was funny the first time someone made this joke in this thread...less funny when it was done the 2nd time...and now its just uber-gay And got you beat with 21 hours from holland to australia JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
