the hard rib help in keeping a nice smooth wing profile in even the weirdest and most imperfect bodypositions (shitty backflying:)) and take a bit of strength out of tensing the wing. But this is all mere percentages, and just taking the ribs out completely, you'll still have a perfectly flying suit. So in short. Ribs are fun, but on the older more breakable mylar, can be more of a pain, and taking them out makes caring for the suit easier, while flying stays just as fun. Plenty of de-mylared s6-ses out there..so yea..no worries.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Additional check for your list are you constantly going low/not keeping up, and thus, do you really a bigger wingsuit to compensate for a shortage in performance that cant be bridged by working on your skills (instead of buying a bigger suit) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

When you (jeff) made the post on the USA today photo comp, there was already a 100% identical thread on this very forum. All the frustration, and 10 duplicate threads, trying to outsmart and annoy a forum admin who is only trying to do his non-payed job makes no sense to me.. Next to the fact that the +- 50 to 100 wingsuit forum regulars have all seen the pic/post and the ones willing to vote, have voted..trusts me,...we're all whores for every pixel, moving frame and thing in the media regarding wingsuits. These double/triple/quadruple plugs are not needed..and had you just stuck to the orignal thread on the subject, and bumped that one..we'd all be holding hands, laughing at people like me who have no credibilty due to too low jump vs post numbers, and listening to the 100% accurate 27 mph sustained fallrate people who do have more jumps than posts.. take this with a wink and smile...ITS NOT A WAR....its a forum where people talk about what they love...if you dont agree with rules or moderation..solve it via PM, but dont make a fool out of the admins who are just trying to do their job by doing a mass spam operation...givng the poor man (also a wingsuit pilot!) dozens of reasons to remove and lock threads... peace out...12:1 post/jump ratios rock! Skydive Rotterdam - "Ready, Set Fly" weekend
mccordia replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Lutz and Denis proved their german roots today, by driving past the dropzone and heading straight for the beach (by accident). Low clouds today, so its the Gay bars in Rotterdam for tonight (ok..not gay bars..but I figured Id make the joke before somebody else did `the obvious and to be expected`) clear blue skies tomorrow, and hopefully some nice flights and trips past customs JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
I always thought 1:1 was a normal tracking...and Im short and heavy (5'6" 165lbs). Ill try for max glide tomorrow to see what comes up. Side subject, but a 21 to 30 second bit of a jump isnt a true glide-ratio. Its a flare Do a 1:1 glide ratio from exit to opening, and Ill be impressed. Luc Maisin (belgian guy) does full jumps flying at glide-ratios of 1.3 in a tight RW suit....I think many people in small wingsuits would envy those numbers JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

DSE, if you also have your altitrack set to log canopy flight, you can get the full data from a jump. Regardless of the thing thinking you deployed or not.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Ive been flying the AltiTrack from L&B, and out of the +- 300 wingsuit jumps I have on the unit now, only one had a log that 'broke'. But that single one aside, its always logged, down to even the most extreme dive/flares and low speeds. If you also have the unit log your canopy flight, you can even get a speed full-readout when the unit is triggered into thinking you pulled. Out of the fallrate loggers Ive used, its the one I like most (esp. with the easy to read analog display) There are quite a few threads on this same question/subject, so do a search if you want to read more.. Its compareable to a normal tracking in terms of distance/glide. Just with the body itself flown at a much steeper angle, meaning you have a body-position that allows for much more manouvrebility than the 'normal' tracking position. Seeing some people get up to (or even over) 1:1 glide ratios, its quite impressive. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Having seen the thing up close, and the speeds at which JB was flying the thing after breakoff..its definately a toy Id want to have.. The inflation looked incredibly solid (even on dirty flying), and the quality is PF standard (as you might expect). From the V1 to V2, I personaly didnt see an alltogether big difference in performance (not big enough to want to upgrade if I owned a v1), but this is something completely different from the previous two. The size is especialy amazing. Its big (a lot bigger than previous Vs) yet doesnt look big when flying (it doesnt look like somone is wrapped in 20 meters of fabric, unlike most bigger flock-specific suits). Anyways...shame money doesnt come in truckloads..otherwise I know Id be owning this one (and an Sfly for fun) in notime.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Skydive Rotterdam - "Ready, Set Fly" weekend
mccordia replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Jumping usually starts at 9:30 or so. But given that people probably have to drive from far, we propose meeting at around 9 to 9:30 (and doing check in/paperwork when you're there). Im asking about the german repack cycle (1 year) and how that works on the club (6 month repack cycle in holland), Ill let you know as soon as I have an answer on that one. Skydive Rotterdam - "Ready, Set Fly" weekend
mccordia replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
http://www.weer.nl/nl/home/weer/nederland/actueel_en_verwacht_weer.html If you check sat/sun (zaterdag/zondag) on the weather forecast, it actually looks like its a go for this weekend. For those attending, DONT FORGET TO BRING YOUR PASSPORT! Faillure to do so, will mean you dont pass the security onto the airport, and cant board the plane. So please...do bring it. Costyn and I will be taking 1 on 1 coaching and load organising duties for this weekend. There is no registration fee, no suit rental, no nothing this weekend. Thanks to the DZ, its only 10 euro's (total) per coach/instructor that you want for yourself or your group. So if you're doing a 5 way + coach, thats only 2 euros per jump per person extra. For those people wanting to stay at my place (+- 15 mins from the DZ) please let me know before 21:00 ish tonight by mail/PM or TXT message (+31 624 111 093) Skydive Rotterdam is located at Rotterdam Airport. When you drive onto the main entrance road, take the first left (before the gas-station) and the building is close to the end of the road, on the left side. Follow the smell of nylon.. Hope we get some good weather and even better flying! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
Some of them fly wingsuits. But they are those irritating 'skilled people' that practice things a lot. Like seeing the Babylon guys doing stuff in a wingsuit at 40 jumps (of thier 10.000 jump total) while we'd need a thousand exlusivly on wingsuit to even get close to their flying skill. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I think Id call it flocking...regardless if its wingsuit, tracking, atmo or flocking (headdown/tracking alternating angles). In the end we're all doing the same thing. Flying our bodies.. You bitch about the label...Ill just be exited on these guys that show what you can do when you combine serious skill and dicipline.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Not really wingsuit flying, but quite similar in their setup and approach at formation building. http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=wKkqBp9gFjY&sdig=1 Quite cool to see! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Too bad the camera died last week at Spa.. But as stated..wide angle lenses (even good ones, and esp. the flat 'skydiving' lenses) tend to really loose a lot of sharpness/clarity in your image. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

For those non native speakers (such as me) who have to look this sh*t up first.. noun: someone who deliberately foments trouble If somebody organizes a jump like that, Id love to be on it But precise/tight flying while going forward at ballistic speeds is not something Ive seen at cochstedt this year. We had nice jumps, but of all the jumps Ive seen, I don't think any completed formation was flown over 6 or 9, and massive level differences seemed to be a common problem all around. But the good news is, that this means we have stuff to work on.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Wanting to...but no...this is just lame old SD. Shooting without a wide-angle does increase the sharpness of the footage a lot. But the downside is that it looks like Michael J Fox shot it (at least it does when you start zooming in). HD is my next project, as my sony TRV-22 died last week at Spa...*snif* This is only my group..which flew at a medium pace.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

After a month of solid work, Im finaly rounding off some long lost video projects (yeayea...also 'that one', Re: WS Comp, Spa & Ukraine videos). Ive just uploaded the one from Cochstedt 2008 to the standard online video outlets. No records, just fun flocks Enjoy! flylikebrick.com - streaming/download - 37 MB skydivingmovies download - 37 MB (pending approval) youtube - streaming pixels for the bandwidth and proper-screen challanged JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Where in the world is worse wingsuit weather than this?
mccordia replied to heyday's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Dude..you can still see some of your country hidden underneath... I think Holland and Belgium are getting close to the same weather this weekend.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
As fun as seeing what other people are doing is, in the end, you should do things the way you feel you need to do them. And not ask these questions to justify your own (right or wrong) behaviour or (over)confidence.. Surround yourself with friends that have the guts to tell you the truth, instead of only saying what you want to hear, if you ask them for advice.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
-
... is going to apply to wingsuiters. Seeing you started wingsuit flying before the minimal manufacturers specifications for that piece of gear, I think you already have that answer in your hand JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

My deployment altitude.. When all the people above me opened, I flip to my belly and pull. Always a surprise! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
