  1. I think its all parts you can buy and put together with hard work, innovative thought and effort. I dont think Christian bought his setup off the shelf in a wingsuit-rocket-motor store in the shoppingmall JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. Maybe a mod. can split this off into a seperate discussion on GPS use and competitions, as it detracks a bit from the awesome WoM competition (guilty) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. Trackingderby is competition for forward speed! More forward speed = more distance. Quite simply! So its really a competition for who jumps from the highest altitude with a steep but fast forward flight, and has the balls to jump with the highest wind possible JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. Thanx..that explains a lot..as there was quite a bit of variable talk buzzing on the DZ as to how results where calculated. Not that ANY amount of math or corrections would have helped with my scores hehe Big thank you for the work (and added explenations here). So how about next year, adding a few euro's to the entrance fee, and offering people discount 'WoM GPS tandems' JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. A rough estimate by having the wind in the middle of the window is sure better than nothing Depending on which direction people were flying, and that the wind actually varries quite a bit, doesnt this method produce the same (or maybe even bigger) offsets in scores then an uncorrected score would? I dont know if its data still available (just on the distance rounds) so a comparison with the wind corrected data can be made? Its not critisism, but rather just speculation and thinking about ways to maybe ad or improve on the competition for next year? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. The jumpruns seemed to vary a bit in terms of spot. Which ment some people where flying with a wind from the side rather then from the back/tail. I dont know if that in any way influences the way the wind-drift/push is calculated? As some of the results did seem a bit akward. Especialy Jeff flying (what he felt) the same performance on two jumps, yet coming down with a 1 km difference in distance on those. Would it be possible to see the not-wind-corrected scores for jumps like those? I dont know if these are realistic or doable suggestions for next year; There was a normal freefaller on every load. Just giving one of the RW peeps a GPS on each load should enable us to account for (some) of the drift due to wind, and also have it be quite accurate for each load. And having the pilot always use the same spot/direction for jump run (relative to the upper winds)? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. I say its just a play of light and shadows, and I have a figure like that of Jean Claude van Dame! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  10. I think Jeff shot the prettiest picture of the whole weekend! This is in no way a sneaky ad for birdman jeans! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. 27 seconds Marl, Germany JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. He's not holding a can of redbull/gofast and flashing continues V signs at the camera, so my guess its an actual safe and planned stunt with a hidden rig.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. flyby footagggggeeee...office...bored...need video! postttt! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. The comp was awesome. Also learned that being too eager, and diving into the comp. altitude while still going 180 mph isnt the best way to get long freefall times Lutz and Tobi showed is how its done! Exelent flying guys! A big 'word!' to the organisers. This is an exelent wingsuit event that will grow and grow for sure! We'll be back! See you soon in Spa, and we'll be sure to come to Marl more often for flying! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. Awesome picture guys...cant wait to see the video stuff.. Dont go skimming those mountains too close ey See you on friday/saterday in marl! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. Super! It is possible to shift it to weekend-days? Things are a bit busier in the weekend, but we'll just have to give the pilot the sad puppy-look with baby-blue big eyes, and beg for some extra speed Something like that...J&K seem to be complete slaves if you dangle stroopwafels in front of their face...maybe I should try one..see whats so special JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. Only a few more weeks, and its finaly happening again! ToraTora! We'll be doing jumps with good briefing/debrief and video on every jump. Our aim is to fly small formations, and really work on everyones slotflying skills, with a gentle nudge towards 3d slots and/or point-flying for those who are up for it. For those that want to give it a try, we'll be doing high speed exits up to 150 knots on thursday/friday if anyone is up to it. And there is also room for 1 on 1 coaching and special jumps (rodeo's allong with the Atmo groups etc). And if 'cheating' on the wingsuit flying with a bit of freefly is your thing, Nimo (Babylon), Fabian (Babylon/Mamba) and almost a dozen other coaches and load organisers will also be present to give your skills a big boost. Camping is for free, the restaurant/bar is at crawling distance, and we'll have a totaly awesome video of the day each night. The DZ has nice facilities, packers and jumpcraft will be CASA/SKYVAN. Shoot us an email if you want to join in on the fun! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. The video "Brokeback Antonov 72" will be out soon! And the Finish put up a good fight as to who could make the most noise..! Mysteries remaining: Will Kristina and James set +140 mph fallrates in Marl due to our Stroopwafel (cheating) dieet? What exactly happened inside that steamy car on the parkinglot? Will the An72 boogie have an An72 next year?does my girlfriend believe the bruises from the table-game are really from playing the table-game Tune in next year, for another exiting episode! 19. Though the company doing the clothing is also making wingsuits, I also dont see how it applies to this forum...bonfire seems like a more suitable location for this kinda stuff.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. I guess you'll have to live with that one.. We have been called birdmen from the very start (which is not just 8 to 10 years ago when the first commecialy available suits started appearing) In hindsight, Its maybe a shame Robi and Jari choose that one as their company name, and its now (to the 'few' people within the wingsuit dicipline) a brandname. But to the general whuffo public and skydiving non-wingsuit flyers, regardles of what brand you fly, you will most likely always be 'a birdman/birdsuit flyer'. Though if it offends you, you could always start a world-wide 'wingsuit' awereness campaign..(although the term Wind-Suit seems to be catching on as well) The general skydiving population is already growing tired of trying to keep up with all the brands, suit models etc. Be happy when they ask you about flying a wingsuit/birdsuit/birdman suit. And then (if they care) show em what brand of birdmansuit it is JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. http://www.flylikebrick.com/minishowcase/ Updated the AN72 2008 gallery with a few more pix JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. Though the lack of experience when you made your first flight still qualifies as a silly and impatient thing to do, you managed ok. Though the example you set to the lesser skilled and even more impatient people is still a bit sadning..you managed to do ok...which doesnt mean its the sane and safe thing to do... But I guess there will always be folks who would rather make up their own truth, if it justifies their (to a degree) not too smart actions. See you in Marl..for the math stuff and still not recognising the dozen variables that make a clear comparison impossible, you'll have to find another chat-partner though...if its about actual flying and fun stuff on what happened during the day...feel free to pull my shirt JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. So...any news on the flyby footage? Come-on! upload! upload! upload! Back home from a boogie and having serious withdrawl symptoms...I need videoooooss! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. I posted a few pictures in our gallery at http://www.flylikebrick.com. Ill ad a more once Ive sorted through the photos still on my camera. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. I also forgot Denis..who may be a bit of a numbers junky, but he knows how to fly, and made it to his slot nicely on every dive! Great job! My personal highlights: Diving in a barrel filled with shit to win free jumps, which I didnt need being a L/O. And then bruising my arms and legs like Ive been in a cage fight on my table climbing expedition, winning a liter of beer I dont drink* Either Im really dumb, or I just enjoy looking like an ass on stage....(the answer is probably a healthy combination of those two) Hopefully see you guys again this saterday in Marl! *does drink vodka and just about every other alcohol filled drink!
