I don't like that a CIA agent, that has a lot of money invested in her, is now no longer able to operate as she would have, any more than you. And the fact that is was done for political puposes sucks more, whether it was done by the administration, or to discredit it, it sucks. As a former intelligence officer, I can appreciate the importance of protecting sources and methods... if an active UC agent had their cover blown, then whom ever leaked it should be shot on the front lawn of the capital building, any one who leaks national secrets should (this would include Clinton and Gore). If it was Rove, if it was Bush himself. Whomever leaked it should be looking for new employment also, because no administration should have staff with such poor judgement. If it was someone from the other side of the fence as well. Novak verified the info with the CIA, and they asked him not to run it, because it might cause her problems in future asignments, but did not tell him not to run it because it would jepordize current operations... there is a difference. You can answer the intial part of the question without a SI, was she an active UC agent? IF so, then a crime has been commited by someone, and it might be someone within the administration, THEN you can talk about a SI. If the answer is no, the drop it, because there was no crime. My question is, this was in the paper in July, it was not important to anyone until late September, why? J All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke

GWB's statements, that appear to be without merit, could be considered a "high crime" IF: - it is proven that they were deliberate - hard to prove - or it is shown that he misused government resources (CIA, Military, etc) for the purpose of personal political benifit - even harder to prove. He may be guilty of having a bad (or no) plan, or listening to bad advisors, but it is a reach to call it treasonous, and will be dificult to prove up a case for "high crimes". It may cost him an election, but he won't get taken out before then. Funny how not going to Bagdad cost Bush Sr. the election, and going to Bagdad might cost Bush Jr. his. The difference in your example is the investigation of an allegation against an elected official (the VP), vs. a staffer. Missing documents (ie a gap in phone logs) or denied subpoenas would be a sure sign of a cover-up... Leaks are a way of life in politics... if this was an illegal leak, and it appears the the investigation is being hindered by the SoJ, then yes, a SI would be warranted, but not until then, otherwise it is politicising it unnecessarily. If this "operative" was not overseas and undercover at the time of the leak, it was not illegal, and from what Novak says she was not either. In my mind that is the point that needs to be clarified before you can even discuss a SI. J All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke

under what statute? (not being a smart ass, just can't find any law that agrees with you)... I can only find where it is testimony given under oath that is a crime. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke

lying to Congress is not treason, and if it was not under oath, its not even a crime. Lying to the American people is a way of life in DC, for both parties. It is something that will be an election issue for sure, but that is about all. J All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke

Are you sure? It is not clear yet who leaked the name, or if that leak was, in fact, illegal. It may not have been smart, but it may not have been illegal either (oh yeah, and it might not have come from anyone in the administration). Why do we need a special council? FBI agents are not political appointees, are they not capable of conducting an investigation of this nature? IMO they are more capable of conducting a fair investigation than special council who may have political motivation, and do it for alot less money, in a lot less time. I don't disagree that he needs to go, but it goes deeper than Kim Jong-il... gotta take out the whole Kim family, and many of the top ranking government and military officials too... they are all crazy... A preemptive strike on them may have worked a few years ago, but with our forces spread so thin, it would be difficult to pull it off now. Publicly recinding 12333 would not be a good international move, given the cowboy preception that parts of the world have of our administration. A clandestine exception might be in order, or a coup from within (with clandestine support)... J All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke

Do a search... you will find lots of opinions... I started w/ ~400... IMO you need enough to be very comfortable in the air and under canopy, numbers may vary... at least able to get a D license (USPA) (maybe a C under the new requirements). Actually, the original AR-15 was full auto... several of the characteristics you list can be found on olympic style target rifles and hunting rifles... many target rifles have adjustable stocks that can be called telescopic, and have muzzle breaks that would be called flash supressors (and why should that be a banned feature anyway?) And on the flip side, one of the first truely effective battle rifles has almost none of these features... bottom line is that if it LOOKS scary, then it must be an assault rifle (kinda like the obsenity test, I'll know it when I see it)... and that is a BS standard, IMO. Did he determine how the camera fell out? It was most likely not secured properly... looking at the canopy open did not appear to be the cause, maybe he caght it on a riser when bring his head forward... Most one hour photo places can do prints from a CD, or they can send it out... if they can get film developed, they can use the CD to get prints too. J All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke

A few questions... how are the stills distributed now, hand off the roll of film or we develop and send you prints in x days? Would the concession provide blank CD-R's vs. film? If the answers are the roll of film is handed off to the customer and the concession will buy you CD-R's it's fairly easy... While you are editing your video, you are burning a CD of the pictures. I would not rush to guaranty your stills just because you are shooting digital, the fundimental fundamental problems may make a roll of film not come out exist with digital too (Camera mal, poor alignment, poor focus, poor camera work, etc)... If you are going to try to print proofs and sell by the print then you are creating some big headaches, unless you are using an online storefront /print service. I doubt you could charge a premium for being digital, particularly if the concession does not require it. If you are able to, then I don't see where the DZ should get any $ over what they already get. If the answer to the original question is the DZ sends the prints in a few days, then the online storefront/print service may be the best option. Both of these have been quite widely reported in both US and international news sources, both left and right leaning... I was watching one of the NBC outlets the other night and they cited somewhere around 100 foiled plots against US interests in Europe... It has also been reported for years that Sadam sent $$$ to the families of palistinian suicide bombers. j All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke
