I hate seeing this crap, we all know the risk.

Generally speaking, yes... to many skydivers it means nothing, and is just decoration... and even to many that read it and understand what it represents, it does not pardon gross neglignece... which is what this suit asserted, and was not contradicted by the defendant. -

I can't say, not without all the facts... -

Regardless of how stupid or unfounded a lawsuit is, it will most likely succeed if how stupid or unfounded it is, is not pointed out to the judge / jury. That is the point that several here are making (and rather well, I think), and yes, you do appear to have missed it. J -
For a DC10 in particular, no... but designing for F.O.D., debris on the runway or tarmac, yes... the question would be what is a reasonable expectation as to the size of debris... J All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke

The only thing it might change for me is my opinion of the merits of his case... info like that may have changed the mind of a few jurors too... but if noone was there to ask the question... It does not change my opinion of PA's handling of the matter... get sued, defend yourself... if you can't afford, or don't want to pay for a lawyer, do it yourself. Don't know, but companies do dumb stuff all the time... My question remains... why not defend yourself against the accusations? J All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke -

No, I do not believe the PA knowingly put out a defective product, but I don't know that they didn't either... I do know that were found to have done so by a court of law. If you were being sued, even if you thought there were no merit to it, would you not mount a defense, even a self-represented one? As to criminal charges, do you know, for sure, why no charges were filed? Usually, a DA makes that call, not a complainant. This perhaps is the only reason that stands out as a reason to no-show at the trial... They knew about the defect, and did nothing... no criminal charges have been filed... go to court to defend yourself, and facts come out during testimony, and are now public record, that you did know... The DA now files charges, and you end up in jail... Not saying that happened here... but it is only scenario that I have sceen here that would justify a no-show. If you are defending YOURSELF, then who do you owe $250K to? Also, you left one out... Truely defend yourself, win, owe nothing. or Truely defend yourself in the first trial knowing that you would probably lose, but saving some money for legal representation during an appeal where all you have are judges, and less emotion... you may still lose, you may even win... if you lose your finding isn't nearly as steep because you did not snub the judge and / or jury... you may still end up bankrupt, but you may not. Someone else stated that all the jury would see is a big evil corporation, who was there to show them differenly? Are you not even a little put off that someone from PA did not even go to the trial? If PA could not afford gas/hotel money to at least do that, then why would you have confidence that parachutes are being made properly? Not saying that they need a big defense team, just someone... dispute that PA knew there was a problem, introduce the waiver, introduce the warning label, introduce what ever else you think ought to be introduced that says this guy is wrong... I'm fairly sure that the plaintiff did not introduce any of that... This guy may or may not have had grounds to sue (or win), but with only one side being heard... come on! The members of the GK's (offically the US Army Parachute Team) are assinged to that as their "normal" active duty... The team is a part of the US Army Recruiting Command... Like most assignments in the Army, they are assigned their for a given tour, once that tour is up they are reassigned back into their MOS... I doubt anyone would be "pulled" from the team. I gennerally don't give out (or sell) full quality soft copies of my pictures. Under certain circumstances, I will, but that is only to people I know. I don't beleive any of the, "I just want it for my desktop" stuff... for those folks I might do a dumbed down copy with watermarks... If they bug you about it, then charge at least 3x the amount you would charge for the largest print I will make, and put your copyright info on the file. For example, if the picture in question is a full frame 6mp shot, it will produce a 20x30 without any problem, say your rate for a 20x30 is $75, charge $225, and have a little copyright thingy in the corner. It might be extream, but hey, if they are willing to pay it... Just my opinion. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke

You're correct, no DVD burner on the iBook, but they come with a CD-RW/DVD-ROM for $1100. And $1799 for a 1Ghz Powerbook w/ a DVD burner ain't bad either. J All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke

Go with an Apple TiBook... http://www.apple.com/powerbook/ or, if you're on a budget, the iBook... http://www.apple.com/ibook/ unless you need a specific "windows only" piece of software, you can do just about anything you would need to do on the apple, and have a lot less headaches. Make sure you have the most current drivers from Epson... Clean the printer heads and check their alignment (all done through software that comes with the printer)... When you print, do a print w/ preview, and make sure all your settings are what you want (size, boarderless, correct paper type, photo quality print, etc)... some of the setting will be under page setup... As for the camera, what type of media, CF, SM, etc? Or do you have to DL from the camera? J All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke

Does this include the soundtrack, or is it just the background noise? If it is the background sound only, that is because when you slow-mo the camera, the sound stops during playback, and that is what premiere captured... if it all the sound, I'm not sure. How does it look on an output monitor, or previewed to the camera? There is a difference in what you see on your computer screen and what you will see on a tv. Have you rendered your slow-mo segment? Did you try the "reverse field dominance" option under the "Video Options" sub-menu? J All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke

mounting a camera setup to this helmet..
jdhill replied to WayneRATS's topic in Photography and Video
I'd approach it as a protec... use a Football helmet chin-cup (the kind with two snaps on each side)... sew a piece of pull-up cord between the two straps one one side, above the snaps... that is your cut-away system... For the mount... you can make a base plate out of metal (make sure to round all the edges) and secure it to the helmet... I'll try to find my old helmet and take a picture of what I'm talking about when I get home... You could also use a chin-cup from bone head, and depending on the shape of the helmet, a flat top mod for the mindwarp, and a z-bracket for stills. There are probably better solutions off the shelf, but if you have the helmet, and are willing to put the time into it, you could convert that one.
