Indonesian tongue-twister: ular melingkar-lingkar di pinggir pagar. Another one: Ikusi xut aker oker, adar makar okerrik; baia etxut ikusi Lakarreko aker-oker adar-makerra bezain ederrik. Whoops, actually that one was Basque, sorry. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Try Clancy's on the east side, 2nd avenue between 51st & 52nd. Failing that, there's Jameson's and Murphy's across the street from them, guaranteed that one of the three (if not all three) is showing it. Do you believe in Alexander the Great?
masterblaster72 replied to badenhop's topic in Speakers Corner
I also gave you some hard evidence. My wife drove over my son. He didn't even have a mark on his body ... nothing but tire tracks. That comfort I received back in the Airborne days comforted me that he woul not be harmed even though I was told he was dead. That was REAL evidence to me. I saw the sleeper with tire tracks, I saw his little 18 month old body that had nothing on it but small indentations from the gravel that sticks in a 1969 land yacht Buick's tires. That's a hell of a story. I believe it (not being sarcastic). Try telling the lady across the street from the house I grew up in that there's a g-d. Her only child died of an extremely rare cancer that only about eight people a year in the USA get. She no longer believes, and I don't blame her. Glad things worked out for you, if that happened to me, I might believe in G-d too. Not everyone has your kind of luck though. Good stuff, can't sit through all 30 mins of it though. I'm wondering if this one is in it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgN-UD77z_E Anyone remember this cartoon? Long shot, but I thought I'd try... I hear that! Sanford & Son was one of the best theme songs ever, for one of the best shows ever. The re-runs still manage to tickle my funny bone. The theme for Night Court is a close second in my book. I also love the themes for The Jeffersons, Good Times and What's Happening. What is the weirdest food you have ever ate.
masterblaster72 replied to shortyj's topic in The Bonfire
putrified shark meat in Iceland aka "hakarl" - a national delicacy. it's actually pretty good, the taste grows on you after a few tries. fried grasshoppers and larvae in Thailand a snake's beating heart and gall bladder in Vietnam, taken down with its blood in rice wine... most people think sea urchin is pretty weird, but not for me since I eat it quite often... At least you're not playing Boyz 2 Men's "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday." I learned that one last week and I have to confess that I really enjoy playing it. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Al Franken to Run for Minn. Senate Seat

Of course he's gay -- he's LIBERAL. Didn't you know LIBERAL = gay? All bleeding-heart, pinko LIBERAL men actually wear pink skirts underneath their pants. It's a known fact. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -
I don't know much about Romney, but I think McCain would make a better president than he would a VP. We probably won't see McCain in the VP role -- he stated in the 2004 campaign that he would turn down such an offer. masterblaster72 replied to recovercrachead's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Questions: 1. what kind of aircraft? 2. will any packers be available? 3. I have an A license, can I jump there? 4. How much are jump tix? 5. What kind of altitude will jumpers be getting? 10K? 12K? 13.5K? Sounds like a fun getaway and I just might make it if the weather cooperates! What can I do to be more patriotic?
masterblaster72 replied to masterblaster72's topic in Speakers Corner
enlist ROTC USAFA USNA USMA USCGA (heheheh) Thanks for the suggestion! But it seems that none of the über-patriotic types that I only dream of emulating (George W. Bush, DICK Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly) have served, so there must be something inherently un-patriotic about actually serving and walking the talk. And if I do serve, my fellow mega-patriots might end up suggesting that I'm mentally unstable (McCain 2000?). So I don't think that's the right way to go, but thanks anyway! What can I do to be more patriotic?
masterblaster72 replied to masterblaster72's topic in Speakers Corner
A friend and I recently debated this administration's handling of the Iraq war. The debate went on for about 20 minutes and ended with him raising his voice, telling me I'm not patrotic (even though I do not support the immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq). Needless to say, it was a truly constructive debate. I'd like to be more patriotic, and I'm looking for some suggestions. Please help, thanks. Unfortunately not able to view YouTube video where I'm at, but if it's the one I think it is, I posted it over the summer in another thread. Funny that it's a commercial for a British newspaper...oh the jealousy... Anyhow your boys do it too, just search youtube for Gerrard and dive and you'll see what I mean. From here NEW YORK - Never mind diamonds- a New York cabbie was a Texas girl's best friend. The driver returned 31 diamond rings he found in his cab after dropping off the passenger, who had left him with a 30-cent tip on a $10.70 fare. "All my life, I tried to be honest," said Osman Chowdhury, a native of Bangladesh. "Today is no different." But the 41-year-old cabbie from Queens did have a message: "I'm proud of what I did so that people know New York taxi drivers are honest." What he did started on Monday evening, when he picked up the woman at a hotel in midtown Manhattan and drove her to an apartment building several blocks away. She gave him $20 to pay the fare and asked for $9 back. Hours later, at about 10 p.m., three other passengers with luggage discovered the woman's suitcase when Chowdhury popped the trunk open for them. Chowdhury first drove to the building where he had dropped off the woman. But he had no idea in which of the many apartments she might be and didn't want to cause a disruption by knocking on doors. etc... ----------------------- The woman probably would not have had any way of tracking him down, unless she got his cab number, which taxi passengers in NYC rarely do. Given that she wouldn't be able to track you down, what would you do? Give 'em back or keep 'em? *REPUBLICANS* Who is YOUR 2008 Presidential Candidate?
masterblaster72 replied to SkyChimp's topic in Speakers Corner
So you think pro-choice, drag-dressing Rudy Giuliani has more of a possibility of getting nominated than pro-war, anti-abortion McCain does? True, McCain is pro-environment (my god, how disgustingly LIBERAL, right?!!) but if you look at his voting record, he is fundamentally a conservative. And this time around he's kissing southern baptist redneck ass, because he learned from his mistakes in 2000. I think he has a fine chance. And if there is a "uniter" among any of the dem or republican candidates, it is most certainly McCain. Rudy on the other hand screwed himself simply by dressing in drag for a halloween party back in the late 90's. The ultra-religious hillbilly wing of the party is going to crucify him for it, guaranteed. I think it is quite possible that he could get picked for VP though since he might add some geographic balance to a ticket that will likely feature a red-state candidate. Are people inherently good and honest?
masterblaster72 replied to livendive's topic in Speakers Corner
Could work if they get a clear-cut abuse policy in place. All it would take is a few compulsive larders with nothing better to do than to take advantage of the "give if you will" payment policy and eat half the inventory on a daily basis to f.ck the whole thing up. *REPUBLICANS* Who is YOUR 2008 Presidential Candidate?
masterblaster72 replied to SkyChimp's topic in Speakers Corner
Oh, I beg to differ. I completely understand why a portion of the population might want an evangelical in The White House, but to say it would "bring this divided country back together" is either naive or disingenuous. We don't need extremes from either side in The White House . . . ever. I've been burned recently with some nebulous sarcasm here, so I figured I'd play too. *REPUBLICANS* Who is YOUR 2008 Presidential Candidate?
masterblaster72 replied to SkyChimp's topic in Speakers Corner
@ quade: Why would you say that? He's smart -- he graduated magna cum laude from Ouachita Baptist University, completing his bachelors degree in 2 1/2 years before attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Prior to his political career, Huckabee was pastor of several Southern Baptist churches in Arkadelphia, Texarkana, and Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He served as President of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention from 1989 to 1991 and as President of a religious-oriented television station. We really need a guy like that. A Huckabee/Brownback ticket is just what we need to bring this divided country back together. @speedracer Good choice. I know next to nothing about him, but he's Texan, so he must be good. One of my best friends is married to an Argentinian, so he took up the yerba mate habit years ago and he's been hooked since. One week back in 1997 he stayed with me and I drank it every day with him. I didn't have hallucinations, but I did get really wired up and had trouble sleeping. And after he left, I felt headaches because I think my body was getting used to drinking it daily (stopped drinking it when he left). Anyway, I hope you're enjoying the psychedelic experience. Never had one myself (from yerba mate that is), but maybe I'll drink large amounts of it next time I visit Philly... edited to add: I'm curious to know -- do you drink it as a tea or do you drink it the authentic way with the gourd and the pipe?
