  1. I was born damaged -- social anxiety in group situations. Been that way as far back as I can remember, worked on it heaps but still it hasn't changed a whole lot. One of the many reasons I like hanging out at the dz -- people let me be the quiet and aloof guy I am without giving me much sh.t about it. 2. I uploaded the video of PJ's July 8th tandem with my girlfriend here. Blue skies PJ. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  3. That's hilarious. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  4. If you look at it in an historical context, this wouldn't amaze you. People have been venerating extraterrestrial rocks for thousands of years, waaay before Islam came about. This can give you some insight on the subject, if you have enough interest and a few minutes to read it. Islam is a re-packaged form of ancient pagan religion, just as Christianity is. 5. from here. Photos like this Just an FYI, in case you haven't heard. Perhaps I'll bump this thread in a year or so if there are any 'after' pictures of the big fella available. 6. 3-1 in the qualifier, great game y'all played from start to finish -- better than I can say for my team. Feeling better now? Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

    SUSHI

I am a hopeless addict -- I eat sushi at least a couple of times a week, and I'd say that my sushi habit is as costly if not more expensive than my skydiving habit. My favorites are the uni (sea urchin) and toro (fatty tuna belly) sashimi. I'm curious to know if anyone here has tried fugu (puffer fish). I've treated myself to it a couple of times but I'm not all that impressed with it -- there isn't that much flavor to it. The mystique of eating something that can potentially kill you was the neatest thing about it... smiles: I vacationed in Vancouver in summer 2004, and ate at Tojo's. I know what you mean -- this was easily some of the best sushi I ever had. The lobster rolls were outrageous, ended up re-ordering them twice. 9. from here Given that we're in a similar situation with our military being stretched thin, maybe this isn't such a bad approach for the USA to take given that 1 of 3 people in this country is obese? Extrapolating on Australia's projected 500 additional troops per year, and USA's population being well over ten times that of Australia's, we'd have 5000+ more troops per year, which is no small gain. A win/win situation for both ends of the deal -- more troops for Iraq/Afghanistan, etc., and an almost guaranteed way to get and stay in shape for the overweight recruits. Not sure why no one has thought of this one already... Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  10. Communists...liberals...I mean, what's the difference, right? Sorry, but the cold war has been over for some time now. You should work on finding a new label rather than using these tired old ones from the 1950s. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  11. Montepulciano d'Abruzzo "Pan" from Nestore Bosco. Whenever I get my hands on a bottle of this, it doesn't last for long... Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  12. Thanks for posting those pics. While I know I come off a bit abrasive and one sided on this issue it's only because I want the whole story to be told. These help. Sadly, hatred is learned and there are apparently plenty of people willing to teach. American soldiers put their names on the bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during WWII -- the Israelis probably got the idea from us. 13. Is that what you meant? Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  14. I've come to the conclusion that flames (and gross misunderstandings like ShefBoiRD's) are completely unavoidable in pretty much any forum in dropzone.com, no matter how many "sorry if this is a repost" or "pardon my ignorance" disclaimers you try to make, no matter how politely you try to construct your posts...someone out there is on a launching pad to flame away and be condescending. It often ends up making for some fun reading, and it's one of the many reasons why I keep coming back here. Anyhow I appreciate other peoples' views on the Bodies exhibition and I now have a better understanding of it, even if I still think that the origin/consent of the subjects on display presents an ethical issue -- I could see what one's motives would be to go check it out. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  15. Your pics make me want to learn paragliding...great stuff. Is it hard to learn? I like the idea of being able to travel 50K+, how cool... Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  16. I think they're open only on weekends in the summertime...but it would be best to call 1-888-855-5867 to find out for sure. Keep in mind Cross Keys is only about an hour away so you can always get a jump in over there. 17. Would you please get this idea out of your head that the non-bible-thumping population is out to tar and feather born-again christians? That's only true in your head; in reality it is simply not the case. I invite you to come to NYC and "run through the streets, proclaiming Jesus is Lord" as you said. I guarantee you that you will be completely ignored by pretty much everyone and left in peace to proclaim whatever you like, as loud as you like. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  18. But how about some of the pieces like this one I posted earlier -- you don't think this is an attempt at art? While I see possible documentary value in it, I get the idea that the carving up was done with aesthetic intentions. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  19. here.. read this..and toughen up a bit... when you donate your body to science, you dont get to choose for what purpose.. personally id rather be an exhibit than a crash test dummy, or an expeirement to determine the breaking point of human bone.. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=br_ss_hs/102-9019997-8487320?platform=gurupa&url=index%3Dblended&keywords=stiffs go see the exhibit for yourself, open your mind. instead of relying on hearsay, and bitching on an internet forum its pretty amazing really.. there was an entire circulatory system removed and suspended in gelatin.. (i bet that took forever) and a whole room devoted entirely to fetal disorders and abberations, that i found particularly fascinating. but you might wet your pants. dear god im offended. somebody save me,im weak. censor these people. or you know, you couldjust not go Pardon your tone. I'm not bitching. I'm open to other points of view on the matter and expressing mine. If you're looking for an argument, I'm not going to play. Have fun under your bridge, son. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  20. And in the "Bodies" exhibition, being on display is not something the subjects chose when they were alive. That is one of my fundamental problems with the "Bodies" (not Body Worlds) exhibition. 21. Good post -- it echoes my sentiments on the matter pretty much to a tee. I would look at the exhibit completely differently if it didn't have that "artistic" aspect. That's what I find distasteful, not to mention the ethical issue of where the bodies come from. If this were simply a scientific display of body parts from people who consented to having them displayed, I might consider seeing it. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  22. If there's one thing I can admire in your posts it's that you have not told a single person they're going to hell. That I can admire as it distinguishes you from other proselytizing born-again types that I've known. edited to answer the OP's question: of course it is possible to be gay and Christian -- look how many gay priests there are and imagine how many have existed in the history of the church. 23. Why is that? If no family member can even be located to be informed of the person's death, who's going to be offended. It's not like anyone could identify the person once they are disected. My answer to that would be that everyone has a right to a burial/cremation and to rest in peace, regardless of whether the person has family or not. Or failing that, everyone at least has the right not to have their body turned into a public spectacle that others profit from. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  24. How does one find this to be in good taste? Personally, I find it morbid as all hell, bordering on sadistic. Not challenging your morals or anything, but I'm at a loss as to how you could find something like that tasteful. I'm genuinely curious to hear your thoughts. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  25. Fair enough; I posted here to get other points of view on the exhibit to understand why someone would go see it. But the exhibit I'm talking about is "Bodies: The Exhibition," not Gunther von Hagen's "Body Worlds." They're similar, but different. edited for a spelling mistake Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
