Is anyone still doing the running thing?
masterblaster72 replied to SkydiveStMarys's topic in The Bonfire
After a 2.5 month layoff due to a stress fracture in my left shin, I'm back in the gym and in Central Park, training for the Boston Marathon in April. Feels great to be running again! Yeah Chinatown in Vancouver is great. Montreal too. You're lucky that up there in Canada you're allowed to buy dragonfruit imported from Vietnam. Here in the States it's banned. I love that shit. One time I bought five dragonfruits in Montreal and tried to bring them back to USA and customs confiscated them. I told the official "bon appetit." I'm sure he had a good meal, and they weren't cheap either - CA$5 each. Be careful with those pomegranates though. Good stuff and very good for you, but if you have too many you might start growing tits. Do a google for pomegranates and phytoestrogens...also the reason why the ancient Greeks used to reference pomegranates as a symbol for infertility. Fa real yo... PS pardon any incoherence in this post, I had a late dinner with lotsa wine Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

There's some decent advice in this thread that I started. The best advice was "jump yer ass off," and that's what I did -- 31 jumps in Eloy during the XMas boogie. Was absolutely invigorating and I came back home feeling a bit better. Write out what you're feeling, that helps a lot. Take up guitar too. I find singing and playing therapeutic. To the extent that you can, work out. You'll feel good afterwards. Another thing that helps -- think of all the negative things about her and focus on them. For me it was tough because I found little fault with the one I recently broke up with, but in past relationships it helped. And who knows -- give it time, sometimes women come around. I'm fortunate enough to be in that situation right now myself Hang in there; it does get better. Thanks Jimmy, good idea, problem is that the trip is not 100% certain. Could end up being very costly if I were to ship it out there and had to have it shipped back in case I don't go. Any idea how much it would cost to have the rig sent by ground, insured? Thank you Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Anyone know of a rigger based in NYC or the outer boroughs? I'm probably going to San Diego for work next week and I'd like to have my reserve repacked for the trip in hope of getting some jumps in out there. I'm due for a repack in a week, and I have no transpo to and from Cross Keys or the Ranch so that won't be an option. Also, skydive LI is closed for the season. Usually I have E.G. (in NJ near the GW bridge) pack my reserve but I have not been able to reach him... I also did a search here but found nothing...so if you know of any riggers in the NYC area I'd really appreciate it. Thanks! Chavez wants to control everything in Venezuela
masterblaster72 replied to SpeedRacer's topic in Speakers Corner
Some of it has to do with his race, just like the new president of Bolivia -- they are of Amerindian descent rather than the typical white leader in power. Hugo Chavez grew up in a thatched palm leaf house; he came from nothing. He's also a brilliant demagogue. And whether you like him or not (just making it clear: I don't; his tightening stranglehold on democracy is troubling), the man does have a spine and a large set of cajones, IMO. Do a Yahoo! Video search for Bud Dwyer...definitely one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -

I thought it was a great game. Any game that the Cowboys lose is a wonderful game in my opinion. As an Eagles fan, I'm happier seeing the Cowboys lose than I am seeing the Eagles win. And we beat them both times this year (wish we could have met them for the third time in the playoffs!) whole albums live- what'd you like to hear?
masterblaster72 replied to countzero's topic in The Bonfire
Primus is an incredible band to see live. I saw them at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley back in '92, what an amazing show they put on. The entire stadium was one big mosh pit. Les Claypool really knows how to rip it up on the bass, eh? If I could go back in time, it would be Hendrix/Band of Gypsies, Cream/Disraeli Gears or Blind Faith. Something more modern? Probably Dave Navarro -- Trust No One. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -

Voodoo Chile by Jimi Hendrix (the 15-minute version, not the "slight return,"). IMHO the most mind-blowing blues song ever. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Me too -- thanks very much for the offer...though I'm sorry I could not make it (was feeling like sh.t that night). Very nice of y'all to offer, hope you got my message from the folks working the phones at the tunnel and I hope that my absence didn't waste a slot or cause any problems in what was planned... Guitar Tabs on the Internet -- where to find?
masterblaster72 replied to masterblaster72's topic in The Bonfire
Thanks Gato -- I just sent the song to your email addy! Yes, the lead sheet is all I'm looking for. I know the main part before/after the chorus comprises A,Am,Em,G...the chorus and the end are where I'm stuck. Beer is on me if I ever meet any of y'all who helped in this thread, I appreciate it! Guitar Tabs on the Internet -- where to find?
masterblaster72 replied to masterblaster72's topic in The Bonfire
Thanks for that, unfortunately this is that partial version that I found earlier. I don't think there's a complete version of this song on the internet, other than the sheet music that I found last night. Perhaps this is my opportunity to become sheet music literate. Thanks again. Guitar Tabs on the Internet -- where to find?
masterblaster72 replied to masterblaster72's topic in The Bonfire
Thanks a lot GM! I scoured the sites listed on there top to bottom, but no luck finding this particular song. Looks like the RIAA has been pretty thorough in their work... I appreciate the resource -- I bookmarked it and will use it in the future. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -

Guitar Tabs on the Internet -- where to find?
masterblaster72 replied to masterblaster72's topic in The Bonfire
Dude! Thanks, that's helpful, but I'm a sheet music illiterate (maybe tabs was the wrong word? shows how much of a musician I am ). Any dumbed down versions where it has the lyrics with the chord letters superimposed on them? Song I'm looking for in specific is "Everybody's Friend" by Jane's Addiction. I did find one version but it only has the first verse and doesn't show the chords for the chorus (though the chorus seems to start out with D and D sus). Thanks again! Guitar Tabs on the Internet -- where to find?
masterblaster72 replied to masterblaster72's topic in The Bonfire
Guitar tabs used to be so easy to find on the internet. Now it seems like most of the sites have been shut down due to copyright law. Anyone know of any web sites that offer still offer free guitar tabs? I'm having a tough time and I'd appreciate some help if you know... Gracias! Happens to me often. What I usually do is let it play in a separate window while I do something else, and come back to it in a bit. Eventually it does fully load and you can watch the entire video without interruption. I'm not sure if the root of the problem is server-side or if it's my connection.
