  1. Now we're talking, much better Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  2. Could have fooled me. I've yet to see you cite anything from them. Perhaps it's because they do their jobs as journalists and not propagandists? Which London online paper -- could it perhaps be The Sun (also owned by Rupert Murdoch)? They recycle a lot of Fox News' garbage. Personally, I have nothing against you and I'm sure you're a nice fellow. I'm not sure why you would take this as an attack; just commenting on the skewed sources you continually cite here. It's like masturbation or a circle-jerk with political ideas -- you're not going to convince anyone else other than those who agree with you when you cite only NewsMax/Fox etc. as your sources. Ok then, I'll modify my quote: It's useless to try communicating what you miked10270 said to rushmc you though -- I've suggested BBC many times to him you, but his your idea of impartiality is pretty much any swill that caters to his your viewpoints. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  3. Without wishing to impugn Fox News' editorial policy, I think I'll wait and see it The BBC picks it up. The nice thing about The Beeb is that it's money's guaranteed without control over it's content - they don't have to satisfy anyone to ensure their income. This is perhaps the best guarantee of impartiality we can get. Mike. Well said -- precisely why BBC is my primary news source. It's useless to try communicating what you said to rushmc though -- I've suggested BBC many times to him, but his idea of impartiality is pretty much any swill that caters to his viewpoints. 4. I'm a former assistant editor for a major publishing company, and I've helped many people with their resumes. For a jump ticket I'll take a good look at it and send it back with changes and comments. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  5. If you're even expecting any discussion on this issue, you've posted to the wrong place. Expect maybe a handful of people to actually read the article, and prepare for the rest to do no more than read the subject line of your post and send a barrage of comments suggesting that you go on medication for "drinking kool-aid" and for being a kooky conspiracy theorist. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  6. I love the binary thinking -- if you question the direction or state of the country and don't blindly believe that all is well, you're: 1. a bleeding-heart liberal ala Alec Baldwin or 2. A communist worthy of living in North Korea ... all we need now is for someone like warpedskydiver to suggest that Mr. Shaiziel move to Iran to paint him as a terrorist-loving member of the bin Laden fan club, and the debate will be complete. F.cking pathetic, really. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  7. Yes, because after all, Fox News is the only network that tells the truth. I believe it's you guys that should seek counseling -- Room 101 has really done a number on y'all. edited to add a t-shirt design for rushmc that I've posted before. You really would wear it quite well. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  8. Spain put on a hell of a show -- that fourth goal was truly a work of art. The call for that penalty (3rd goal) was pure bullsh.t though. It breaks my heart to see bad officiating like that. I think the best teams so far are Italia, Spain and Netherlands, what a great tournament so far, and things are just getting started... 9. My son has been playing soccer for 10 years now (he's 15). He is in incredible shape, has had a 6-pack since he was 13, and his thighs are massive. When I go to his high school and look around, about the only other kids who are in as good of shape are the swimmers. Anyone who thinks soccer is for pussies needs to actually participate in a real game. If you don't enjoy watching it, read up on the rules and watch how they are able to move the ball down the field using angles and spins on the ball. It actually takes some thought and strategy. Some of the 0-0 games are the most thrilling to watch! True story...there is a player on his HS team that also plays football. The rules state that you can't participate in 2 sports at one time, so the kid had to wait for football to finish up before he could join the soccer team. He missed the conditioning training that they had, but you'd assume that football got him into shape, right? Wrong! He threw up at the first practice and didn't even make it through all the practices the first week without having to rest! Great post, couldn't have said it better myself Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  10. Hear, hear. When I was eight years old, playing the game in the park on a daily basis throughout the summer, my father reminded me that when he was a kid, he didn't have a ball; all he had was a wad of hay tied together by strings. And that's what most Americans just don't care to realize and can't relate to -- any nation on any given day -- no matter how poor or how powerful -- can have its chance to shine against any nation in the world no matter what the differences between the nations may be, and at the end of the game shake hands with its opponent and exchange shirts. Not to mention the sublime skill it takes to hit a ball going 60+mph with a foot or head into a goal or the true athleticism it takes to put 100% on the field for 90 minutes with no timeouts... Until Freddy Adu represents the USA in the WC most Americans won't realize what they're missing, and that's alright...after all, who gives a sh.t if USA goes out in the first round. Certainly, most Americans do not. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  11. Looks like Japan just fell apart late in the second half...Australia scored three goals against them in the last seven minutes of the game to win 3-1 I was really rooting for them to win this one. It'll take a miracle for them to advance to the second round with Brazil and Croatia as their next opponents Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  12. Sarcasm? I found Germany's play vs. Costa Rica as mechanical and painful to watch as always (albeit quite effective)... ----- on another note, watch out world, Totti makes his return tomorrow for Game 1, sooner than expected
  13. I'd be more mad at Del Piero for not finishing the 2 caviars he had... He could have put it away easily. I was...and still the national coaches insist on awarding Del Piero a starting position in each tournament (see tomorrow)...he's a fine player on the club level and a heck of a sportsman but some players just don't produce at the international level -- he is certainly one of those players that does not We'll do fine all the same once Totti makes his return :) Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  14. That's f.cking cruel. I'm still hurting from that game, and it's been six years. Ouch. Nice to have had a ref to award you more minutes of extra time than were warranted...great team nonetheless. 17. Well, that infrastructure certainly is not in NYC yet, not unless you consider a few barricades in front of Grand Central infrastructure...like I said, *tons* of work still needs to be done. You wouldn't believe how easy it would be to duplicate London July 2005 in NYC on any given morning. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
  18. Deutschland hat gewonnen...sehr gut! Trinken sie viel Bier heute abend, ja?
  19. auf Deutsch, bitte!! Ich muB die Sprache uben
Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

  22. $711m is 14% less than last year's $826m total budget. So if we get a cut (which we shouldn't in the first place, since the threat here is greatest), it shouldn't be much more than 14%. It's just common sense. A strike here would have the most impact since NYC has such a high density of people on any given workday. And since the city has so many important financial institutions, the effect would be most damaging to our economy. If that's not convincing enough, well, they've already struck here. There's a reason why similar attacks occurred in London and Madrid and not Nottingham, UK or Salamanca, Spain, for example -- the population density isn't as high as it is in the bigger cities. No, a black-box secret panel of "experts" was involved in the decision-making. Therefore, neither you nor I really know who was involved. 23. Not really on the subject, but
  24. Who is going to attack Kentucky, Nebraska, etc? Get real. If you read the original article: From this article: So I'd love to hear how you figure $124m is 60% of $711m. My calculator shows 17%. To reiterate my point for the sixth time, NY DHS funding should not be cut by 40%. NY and DC still get the largest shares -- and they should because that's where the threat is most real -- but the work is *very* far from done, and cutting by 40% will keep the work from getting done and still leave our vulnerabilities exposed.
