Enron trial: Your Predictions Please
masterblaster72 replied to masterblaster72's topic in Speakers Corner
This week the defense presents its case. How do you think things will turn out? All the defense has to do is raise doubts about conspiracy on the part of the two big execs. Personally, I think they'll both walk. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -
I'd like to be able to post a favorable review for Parasport jumpsuits, but there's no link in the "gear/jumpsuits and clothing" section for Parasport products. I pm'd HH and two other moderators about this...and no luck. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Interesting details about intellectual property
masterblaster72 replied to GTAVercetti's topic in Speakers Corner
A lot of this borders on absurd, but not surprising considering the sue-happy legal climate in the USA. And it probably won't get better anytime soon -- I heard that there are more law students than lawyers these days. I guess the list would also explain why there are so many job openings at law firms, even during the toughest economic times. Absofreakinglutely. But Scalia is a Republican lackey and a worm of the lowest kind who either doesn't understand his role as Justice or has no regard for it at all. You can definitely count on him NOT to recuse himself. I'll be quite surprised if he does. anyone got a good way to curb carb cravings?
masterblaster72 replied to waltappel's topic in The Bonfire
Well, I've been reading a lot of Roman history lately, so I can share a bit of what I've learned and apply it to your dilemma. 1. You can always enjoy as many carbs as you like and not worry about gaining an ounce! 2. You can do what Caligula's older brother did when Sejanus locked him in a dungeon: Hope you found that helpful. Alternatively, if you don't much fancy the taste of your own stomach or polyurethane foam, may I recommend this -- great nutritional meal replacement that seems to satisfy without taking in heaps of calories. Fixed. Sounds like you know quite a bit about the world if you consider the US to be indisputably the "greatest nation". What other myriad countries have you been to/studied so thoroughly that helped you arrive at such a conclusion? I didn't join the British Army to conduct American foreign policy
masterblaster72 replied to Kinaa's topic in Speakers Corner
Ok, since no one else will bite, I will. I did. Did you see what Mr. Nelson said? Tantamount to calling the fella a liar, no? If you don't think so, then don't be offended if I reply to your posts and call every 'fact' you present "fiction." I don't want to argue back and forth about this; that would be a colossal waste of time and energy. I just think you're the one who is "LOOKING for a reason to be upset" and needs to re-read the thread. Now back on topic -- if what this Mr. Griffin says is in fact true -- and it *is* established that he has an exemplary military record -- I would think some folks in our military need to take a less xenophobic approach to their duty in Iraq. Unfortunately, the problem can't be remedied unless it's corrected in the higher ranks. -

G.W. Bush Top Ten accomplishments

Uh, ok, how 'bout Iraq when the UN was and is against us all the way? It's easy to belive that if the UN was against us with Afgan that he would have gone in anyway, as he did with Iraq. What was the benefit of us in Afgan? Anything? Well, Iraq is another story. I do believe he did the right thing in Afghanistan and that it's a fight worth fighting. Benefit for us in Afghanistan is that there's no longer a regime that's busy training its citizens on how to kill non-Muslims. Seriously? So the fact that telemarketers can't leaglly call is a ground-moving event? For me it is, I always found telemarketers pretty irritating. What has been the benefit since? Will things change? Will prosecutors go after violators? Apparently not, but it was a step in the right direction. Ok, there have only been 2 in history, so it's not as if there were 20 during the Clinton years and none since. Furthermore, are we like Domino's Pizza that delivers and once we get out the terrorism will resume at a higher rate? Too soon to rack this one up. Could have been avoided? Not by bombing and screwing in their affairs but by leaving them alone, huh? I think 911 could have been avoided if Bush learned to listen. What kills me is how plainly spelled out it was that Bin Laden was a threat...and how much Republicans tout themselves as being strong on national security. Truely this is one of his greatest accomplishments, even though he gave away the Clinton surplus in teh midst of a war budget and soaring annual deficit and record national debt. Bush will take his debt of 5.5T and double it. Canada's dollar will likely pass us by Bush's term's end. Great thing? I'd rather see a fiscally sound government than get a $300 check. That is a legitimate thing, but in all reality he should fix our health system first. But at least he didn't give it to some corporation. According to freethefly, he didn't do such a good thing after all. I was just trying to, for the sake of argument, make it to ten good things Shrub did in his five years in office. What's this? Is this part of the Patriot Act???? I don't know a whole lot about it, I was trying to make it to ten. I got the item from Mr. JACKASS's list. I was scrounging and it sounded like a half-decent accomplishment, even though it probably wasn't Bush's idea to begin with. Meanwhile the country is fiscally crumbling, the world hates us, but Bush is a good runner and that's noteworthy? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Most people can't run 7-minute miles, let alone 60-year old people. I respect Bush as a fellow runner, but not really in any other regard. I did not vote for him, and no, I don't think he's been a good president. I think he's an absolute disgrace. I listed what I did for the sake of argument, and in contrast to the damage he's done and continues to do, his accomplishments are paltry at best. G.W. Bush Top Ten accomplishments

G.W. Bush Top Ten accomplishments
masterblaster72 replied to funjumper101's topic in Speakers Corner
1. Went to the UN to declare war on Afghanistan and got the world behind us -- I thought that was way cool and I was actually proud of him at that time. 2. Signed the do-not-call registry bill. Probably the greatest thing he's done that's affected my life. 3. Signed McCain's campaign reform bill (albeit begrudgingly, but he did sign it) 4. There have been no terrorist strikes on US soil since 9/11 (even though I really do think that the whole thing could have been avoided in the first place) 5. He sent me a $300 check back in 2001. 6. Billions in aid for Africa's AIDS epidemic 7. PROTECT act of 2003 Also, although it is not an accomplishment, I really admire the fact that he's 60 yrs old and that he can run a seven-minute mile. In my book, that's the single most impressive thing about him. Ok, NOW I am truly scrounging. I don't think I can make it to ten, perhaps I can edit some in later on. edited: a couple more decent accomplishments added from Mr. JACKASS's list. The other items are tenuous at best, fodder for the far right-polarized. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -

- Natto - Japanese fermented soybeans - Gefilte fish - Broccoli Rabe When I was in Iceland a couple years ago I ate hakarl, or putrefied shark meat. Unlike the others listed above, that one both smelled *and* tasted bad, and the belches that ensued haunted me for hours. I'm not surprised the Democrats would resort to such tactics. That's pathetic. Creative, funny in a dark way, but pathetic nonetheless. The numbers were in the thousands -- more than enough to have tipped FL the other way had those voters voted for Gore. You can look here for hard numbers. Not sure if you read what Ms. Harris admitted in my excerpt from the article, but that makes it obvious enough that they were biased. If I were a Floridian, I might have voted more pragmatically. But considering Gore was a shoe-in for NY, I voted with my heart. So no need to thank me since I didn't help elect your jackass prez, but I'll gladly take the beer, thanks Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Well, you make it sound like she actually enforced election law. I don't care to rewind six years and bicker about the 2000 election, but just to let you know where I'm coming from... from http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/1114377.stm: One of the many things she did to facilitate getting the most incompetent, corrupt and disgraceful president (your ex-governor -- thank you for your excellent voting judgement) in modern history into office. And GM, Gore wasn't my guy; I voted for Nader in 2000. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Tapes Show Bush Did NOT Lie About Yellow Cake

Once again, of course, from a notoriously right-skewed "news" source. I'll ask you for the third time: don't you find it insulting to your intelligence when information is cooked to your liking? Wouldn't you rather formulate your own opinion? ...and don't YOU just LOVE the way your preferred news sources that you always cite here screw with the context to fit YOUR world view? Given her long-shot chances, I hope that daddy's little girl decides NOT to drop out of the race and opts to go with this pipe dream that she can win. I, for one, would love to see her humiliated in a national election after what transpired in 2000. Same exact thing happened to me. Luckily it was only two tickets. The tickets were in a zippered pocket on my shorts, but I found out in backflight that the zippers weren't quite strong enough to withstand the relative wind of freefall. It was kinda neat seeing my tickets disappear into the sky, but not worth the $40 down the toilet. I also lost a demo helmet while doing a backflip in freefall at another DZ. Had to pay $179. Most recently I lost a wicking-material skullcap that I use for running while in freefall. It was my favorite hat, and it fit my head quite snug and I would never have thought it would come off in freefall. Lesson learned...again Finally, I bought a jumpsuit with an internal zipped pocket, so this should reduce the risks of losing anything again.
