The good part of the muslim population, who happen NOT to kill people, think the same way of the extremists in their bunch. I actually have heard other Christians speak out against this; I was just making a hypothetical point. Unlike the news about the bombing of the clinics, those ads and voices of Christians speaking out against the clinic bombings likely did not make it abroad, which of course would help form a rather lopsided view of the situation. Much like what is happening here. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Christians bomb abortion clinics. I've not seen an ad by Christian groups condemning this, nor have I seen the millions you'd like to see out on the streets protesting such behavior. So going by your logic, if I were to hate Christians just for that retarded minority, I could just as easily say that 97% of Christians are in favor of bombing abortion clinics. And you call me a bigot... I don't know what impression you have of Muslim women, but I see some pretty attractive ones fairly often where I'm at. If there were such an anti-extremist ad/protest like the one you're looking for, you'd still find fault with them anyway. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

I'm the last guy to defend Muslim extremism, or any kind of religious extremism for that matter. But 97% of Muslims being extremists? Was that hyperbole? If not, that has got to be one of the most ignorant things I've ever seen written in these forums. And that says a lot, because there is HEAPS of redneck swill posted here daily. Ever hear of the Sufis? My guess is that you haven't, and from what you write, I surmise you don't much care anyhow. Well, they comprise more than 3% of the world Muslim population. Embassies burning makes bigger news than moderate muslims calling for peace. That's just the nature of news, which is why you have not, and will not hear the voice of moderate muslims. Self censorship (Muslims boycotting Denmark)
masterblaster72 replied to Dolph's topic in Speakers Corner
Same exact reason my parents left their poverty-stricken village in Italy in the 60's for Germany and Switzerland. Note that most of the southern European guest workers back in the 60's went to these countries with the intent to go home with some money. Difference here is that the immigrants we're talking about have no intention to leave and want to change their host culture. All the more reason to respect the ways of the country you're living in, even if you find it offensive at times. Are you surprised? I'm not, even keeping in mind that this is all over a cartoon. Danes should do the same to the Syrian embassy in Copenhagen (if there is one). They won't though -- they're too civilized for that. Self censorship (Muslims boycotting Denmark)
masterblaster72 replied to Dolph's topic in Speakers Corner
This is a problem in all of Europe. In France and Italy, the government is building mosques to accommodate these guests. Come to think of it, what business do Muslims have coming to your country and restricting expression in the first place? It's not like Denmark ever colonized a Muslim country... When my parents were guest workers in Switzerland and Germany in the 60's, they had to abide by German customs, learn the language, and do their best to assimilate, out of, as you said, respect for the culture. Now, Muslims are going into Italy, calling for crosses to be taken down from the walls in schools, vandalizing public art out of being offended by them, and in general acting as if they're entitled to all they're being given, for doing NOTHING other than being immigrants. My parents went back to Italy this year to visit and said that if they acted in Switzerland or Germany back then the way that Muslims do in Italy today, they would have lost their privileges to work and live in those countries. I don't understand why Europeans keep bending over further and taking it in the rear from muslims again and again. It's disturbing. EXCELLENT idea. edited to add a quote from a friend who emailed me on the subject: "If I were head of the EU, I would make it law that all toilet paper have the face of Muhammad on it!!!" Man, whatever altered state of mind you're in when you write these bizarre promotional FreezeFest posts, I hope it's not while you're also putting the bridle cover on that Javelin rig that I bought from Square 3 last weekend. It's hard to make me laugh. Most of the time, I'll give people a charity laugh so they don't think I'm being a dick. Let alone, an internet post making me laugh... I read your posts and laugh my ass off out loud here. F.cking brilliant they are... Cheers. The government of Denmark should apologize to muslims by offering free Elephant Malt Liquor and a Kobenhavner Schnitzel to every mosque in the country. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -
GWB State of the Union Speech #6: Your Opinions Please
masterblaster72 replied to masterblaster72's topic in Speakers Corner
I originally had 5th up and later edited it for 6. Counting from and including January 2001, it's 6, no? PS I liked governor Kaine's response emphasizing *results* via bipartisanship, I thought it was refreshing to hear something substantive, and from a Washington outsider at that. -

North Korea would be awesome, hope to go there in my lifetime. Too bad Americans have absolutely no chance to get a visa, and even if you are not American and do get one you need to be escorted by gov't officials everywhere you go in that country...not much fun More realistically, My choices would be Bhutan, Japan, and Iceland in June[email][email] Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -

Is this a effing joke or what. I'd love to see the statistical acrobatics the writer pulls to back up that doozy. Mr. Rich, do you honestly believe that Canada, which has a bit over 1/10 the population of the United States, really has an overall crime rate 50% higher than the US does? I live in the bullseye and I have no fear whatsoever, nor do most of the people living here. I mean, what's the point of being afraid. Other than being vigilant and keeping your eye out for "suspicious packages," what else can you do. Funny how Joe-Bob redneck out in podunk buys into the fear/terror this administration is constantly pimping. I mean, what's the likelihood of him being injured/killed in a terrorist attack? A bigger question: What happened to "The only thing to fear is fear itself?" I always thought that was a great approach that reinforces our strength as a nation. So much for that one, eh? Misrouted Cheststrap – How to survive?
masterblaster72 replied to AFFI's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I misrouted my chest strap twice. First time, a tandem instructor caught the mistake and told me that if I do it again I wouldn't be allowed to jump and would have to fly down with the plane. That was around jump 30. Unfortunately, I can be thick sometimes and it took a real lesson to let the importance of checking the chest strap sink in. Around jump 60, I rushed to get on a load, and I realized in freefall that I misrouted my chest strap after doing a front-flip and coming out of it a bit unstable on my side. My harness almost came off -- to the point where the upper left side of my harness was down to my forearm. I quickly bent my elbow to catch the side of the harness. If it weren't for that reflex, the left side would have been off. I can't imagine that I'd have made it to the ground in decent shape had that happened. I was cursing up a storm, freaked out indeed. I just remained stable and on my belly until pull time. When pull time came, I crossed my arms as tightly as possible and luckily all went well. I then put the slack of the chest strap in my teeth as I finished the descent. I got to the ground feeling somewhat like a ghost -- like I shouldn't be alive. It was weird. Since then, it has become my ritual to triple-check the leg straps, chest strap, handles, and three-rings before boarding and on the plane...and I don't exit until I'm 110% sure all is in order. Holy crap, this "Requiem for a Dream" is a messed-up movie!
masterblaster72 replied to peacefuljeffrey's topic in The Bonfire
Yeah, that movie rocked. Bizzarre, and cinematically brilliant. I found it to be hilarious in some parts, like when the junkies scattered at the supermarket or the faces that Marlon Wayans was making when he saw Jared Leto's gangrenous arm...the evil infomercial...Ellen Burstyn's possessed refrigerator... If you think that was a effed-up movie, I have two words for you: BAD LIEUTENANT. Absolutely disturbing. Harvey Keitel is so depraved and addicted to the point where he's absurdly funny (though you might not think so at first). Gets five stars from me. I think it was Harvey Keitel's best performance and he should have been nominated for an Oscar. For some reason, junkie movies in general are extremely entertaining and very well put-together -- also see Drugstore Cowboy and Trainspotting. Not quite as depressing, more comical, all cinematic masterpieces and heaps of fun to watch. Also, if you like the artistic aspects of Requiem I suggest you see Pi if you haven't already, also directed by Darren Aronofsky (and quite disturbing too) -

Why haven't you gotten your B license?
masterblaster72 replied to peek's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Good question. My lame reasons -- 1. Because I don't live close enough to a dropzone to go on a weekday when someone's available to do water training -- I usually go on weekends when the instructors are busy doing AFF and helping people get their A's. I suppose this time of year my DZ is not quite as busy even on weekends, but it's too cold to jump in the pond. 2. I rent gear, so when I go to the DZ I want to get in as many jumps as possible to justify the cost of rental -- even if it is a weekday. So I guess a lot of it has to do with my priorities. When I buy my own gear (which will be soon) I can go to the DZ with less pressure to get as many jumps in as possible and concentrate on the important things like getting my B and doing more RW rather than mostly solo's. I realized the value of having a B license a couple weekends ago when I was at a DZ that was offering high-altitude jumps...will make a point to get the B before the summer. I don't see much friendly (and maybe that's because I don't get your humor either) -- but not hostile either -- from your direction, and there's nothing weird and pissy in what I wrote. You certainly don't piss me off. Nothing at all. I think you'd have a different opinion if you read the book, and that blurb that Newbie posted about the book does it little justice. I'm not railing against fast food or people who eat it, and I'm not backing a "cause" to take McD's to court. As you said, if you don't like fast food, don't eat it. And I don't -- for reasons detailed in the book. It really is a great read. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
