Judging from the way you wrote your original post, it was hard, at least for me, to see that, especially after you underline it with "I'm serious." Nice to see you don't really think like that. Sad thing is there are people that do, and I wouldn't be surprised if some people in power do as well. Like most others, I think we'd go to war with China first because we're ideologically opposed to their system of government. And then also, in light of how chummy we see Bush and Koizumi are on the president's most recent visit, it's hard for me to imagine that we'd go to war with Japan anytime soon. Not to mention that Japan is our strategic proxy and our lackey in Asia. And one more -- they have a weak military by design and are not a threat to us at all in that respect. But who knows, maybe your out-of-the-box thinking is on point and you're seeing something we don't, history is full of surprises and who could rule it out -- we were pretty cool with them up until Pearl Harbor before our last conflict with them. Regarding China vs. USA in a war, yes they outnumber us man-to-man, but we have the technology. If that remains equal, I think the war would be over before a Chinese soldier comes close to setting foot on our soil. Please, do not EVER complain about foreigners' disdain for Americans. You've indeed confirmed a stereotype held by many that we're a bunch of xenophobic warmongering rednecks. Guys who talk as tough as you do should definitely walk the talk -- call your army recruiter today. What are you waiting for? I'm not the least bit religious, but I can't say I don't believe in miracles, even divine ones. My mother told me that when she was four she was on her deathbed, in a coma with a serious digestive ailment. The priest came over to give her her last rites. This was in post-WWII Italy, so health care was non-existent. She wasn't expected to make it through the night. The next morning, she woke up in front of everyone surrounding her and awaiting her death, yelling for St. Rocco to come back as he was walking through the wall. She said that he appeared to her, placed his hand on her head, and told her she'd be fine. She's been in fine health since. I'm not making this up -- my grandmother confirmed it when she was alive, and my uncle and mother tell me the same story to this day. I don't know what to make of it. But I can't say I don't believe in miracles. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Burn in hell, Pat Robertson!!!
masterblaster72 replied to masterblaster72's topic in Speakers Corner
I didn't realize my statement would be taken so seriously. I'm not calling for someone to literally shoot him in the head. I didn't think I'd have to clarify that -- I'm not a cleric issuing a fatwah. Nor am I a democrat. I am a liberal though, and I'll express myself in whatever words I want, without worrying about being called a hypocrite for not subscribing to some peacenik liberal stereotype. Intolerance on the part of people like Pat is what I am intolerant of. I have no problem with people who have warped beliefs. I have a problem when they try to impose them on others. It's my fundamental problem with the religious right. The shit that comes out of this man's mouth is beyond absurd, and that he has an open-door policy at the Whte House is disturbing. But I don't literally wish death upon him. I think ryoder's view of him is a healthier one -- Pat is really a comic parody of himself. Sad thing is though, he has some real influence. Burn in hell, Pat Robertson!!!
masterblaster72 replied to masterblaster72's topic in Speakers Corner
Will somebody please shoot this man in the f.cking head already? What a dick. VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson warned residents of a rural Pennsylvania town Thursday that disaster may strike there because they "voted God out of your city" by ousting school board members who favored teaching intelligent design. All eight Dover, Pa., school board members up for re-election were defeated Tuesday after trying to introduce "intelligent design" — the belief that the universe is so complex that it must have been created by a higher power — as an alternative to the theory of evolution. "I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God. You just rejected him from your city," Robertson said on the Christian Broadcasting Network's "700 Club." Eight families had sued the district, claiming the policy violates the constitutional separation of church and state. The federal trial concluded days before Tuesday's election, but no ruling has been issued. Later Thursday, Robertson issued a statement saying he was simply trying to point out that "our spiritual actions have consequences." "God is tolerant and loving, but we can't keep sticking our finger in his eye forever," Robertson said. "If they have future problems in Dover, I recommend they call on Charles Darwin. Maybe he can help them." Robertson made headlines this summer when he called on his daily show for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. In October 2003, he suggested that the State Department be blown up with a nuclear device. He has also said that feminism encourages women to "kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians." Not only do schools feed students that fat sugary shit -- there are a lot of school districts in the US that actually get paid by soda companies so they can advertise their products to their students. Some school districts even sign 'exclusive' deals where they will only have one brand of soda vending machine in their schools. I really liked Supersize Me, I found it informative and very entertaining. A dark comedy and documentary at the same time. Fast Food Nation is a great book and gets into all the details of the fast food biz...give it a read if you're interested. Naaww, I ain't gotta admit nuthin' cos I don't think there's nuthin' satisfyin' about shootin' the shit outta somethin' with an automatic weapon. No yeehaww from me pal. If you find that satisfying, I think there's something really lacking in your life. I'm glad I don't live near Oklahoma like you do. That was some serious REDNECK shit. I thought that video was totally f.cking pathetic and I saw nothing healthy, entertaining, sane or remotely satisfying in it. A bit ironic considering my choice of avatar, eh? The state of our futures: World vs Muslim militants
masterblaster72 replied to BillyVance's topic in Speakers Corner
At this point I stopped taking your post seriously. France is NOT 20% Muslim, what bullshit. We're already Nero playing his fiddle as Rome burned. We've been for years. Our president is the personification of it. The war in Iraq has nothing to do with terrorism. Terrorism is a convenient front. I can't believe that with all of the bullshit that's being uncovered people still fall for this idea that we're in there to protect ourselves. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -
I think that any country that was arrogant enough to be a colonial power owes it to the populace of those countries it occupied to take those people in. But it doesn't owe them welfare. France's policies are the same as the rest of Europe's -- let 'em all in and give 'em everything. Local politicians in port towns are profiteering BIG TIME from the immigrant traffic, that's one thing that's overlooked in this thread. And the people pay the price. As far as countries like Denmark and Italy (for example) go, well, I would agree with your policies. I mean, there are heaps of arabs in Denmark, and Denmark never occupied an arab country. If Arabs act up there, they should be sent home as a lesson to others. In Italy's case, I think Italy has an obligation to those of Libyan, Albanian, Ethiopian, Eritrean and Somali origin. But I don't think Moroccans, Bangladeshis, Pakistanis or Afghanis have any business becoming Italian citizens just for arriving clandestinely on a boat. Yet there are HEAPS of them there, and the government gives them EVERYTHING (even mosques built by the Italian government) for doing NOTHING. Italian families are shrinking because of the cost of living, while immigrant families have several kids that are all supported by Italian government money. And sadly, your average citizen has pity on these immigrants. I just don't get it. I'm all for a pluralistic society in USA. It's my favorite thing about this country. But in Europe these riots are a sign of things to come in *all* of those countries with lax immigration policies if the problem isn't addressed seriously and effectively. The world record holder did it again...4:56 per mile pace over 26.2 miles. Absofreakinlutely amazing, and what a finish -- he beat last year's winner by 1/3 of a second. What a beautiful day it was in NYC for a race like this one. From ESPN Track & Field News Wire NEW YORK -- Paul Tergat surged one last time, breaking the tape a heartbeat before defending champion Hendrick Ramaala fell across the finish line. After more than two hours of running Sunday, the New York City Marathon came down to a final sprint and a third of a second -- the closest finish in race history. Tergat and Ramaala were side by side all morning, trading the lead for 26.2 grueling miles through New York's five boroughs and across fog-shrouded bridges and leaf-strewn roads. Tergat, a Kenyan who holds the world marathon record, and South Africa's Ramaala jockeyed for the lead in Central Park. Tergat surged, then Ramaala, then Tergat again. Tergat's official time was 2 hours, 9 minutes, 30 seconds, but the exact clocking was 2:09:29.90. Ramaala's time was 2:09:30.22. It was reminiscent of the 2000 Sydney Olympics, where Tergat and Ethiopia's Haile Gebrselassie sprinted to the finish in the 10,000 meters. Gebrselassie managed one last dash in the final 30 meters, leaning to edge Tergat by nine-hundredths of a second. This time, Tergat crossed the line first on a warm, sticky day. He was one of 37,516 competitors to start the race, a record for any marathon. "The weather was incredible, very hot, but I was trying to keep cool. The least thing that I was expecting is that we were going to have to sprint to finish," Tergat said. "It was really, really painful, we work until the last minute. It reminds me of the Olympics again, but I was not expecting that in a marathon, that sprint." Ramaala wasn't sure whether he tried to dive across the finish line, or simply collapsed from exhaustion. "I don't remember," he said. "You know, coming in second is not nice. "The last hundred meters, who wants to go the last hundred meters with Paul? I gave it everything," Ramaala said. "Paul didn't want to lose, I didn't want to lose." Meb Keflezighi finished third, the best finish by an American. But the U.S. victory drought at the New York race grew to 23 years. Women's winner Jelena Prokopcuka had a slightly easier time than Tergat. Prokopcuka, who dropped back by 18 seconds with about 5 miles left, rallied to catch the leaders and then passed Susan Chepkemei on their first trip through the park. Chepkemei, who was stumbling and spitting up, managed to hold on for second place for the third time in New York. Prokopcuka (pronounced Pro-kop-CHU-ka) never had won a major marathon before, though she was fifth in her New York debut last year. Her winning time was 2:24:41. Prokopcuka fought through pain in her side halfway through the race, which started in thick fog. It was 54 degrees and 97 percent humidity at the beginning; by noon, the temperature had risen to 62 degrees in Central Park, while the humidity dropped to 77 percent. "I thought it was over. (But) I saw Susan get sick, then I thought I could win," she said. "I was famous already in Latvia, after this even more famous. This is a big victory for such a small country." The top American woman was Marie Davenport, a native of Ireland who attended Providence and now lives in Guilford, Conn. She finished 16th in 2:33:59. Jen Rhines was 18th in 2:37:07. The women's lead pack was narrowed to three runners -- Chepkemei and fellow Kenyan Salina Kosgei, and Ethiopia's Derartu Tulu -- as the race passed the 21-mile mark and headed back into Manhattan from the Bronx. Prokopcuka fell behind as the three Africans traded the lead through Harlem. A spectator with an Ethiopian flag ran alongside Tulu on Fifth Avenue, then gave up after a block. The Latvian surged into the lead as she and Chepkemei raced down Central Park South, and then back into the leaf-littered streets of the park. After crossing the finish line, she threw her arms in the air and blew kisses to the crowd. Keflezighi, second last year in New York and a silver medalist at the 2004 Athens Olympics, fell behind in the final mile and finished third in 2:09.56. Fellow American Abdi Abdirahman was fifth and Matt Downin finished 11th. "With a mile to go, my calf tied up and when they made the move I couldn't accelerate. I thought I could pull it out, but third is not bad," said Keflezighi, who is getting married in two weeks. "I was feeling great the whole way." The 36-year-old Tergat, one of 17 children, is the ninth straight African man to win in New York. Until Sunday, his only win in a major marathon was at the 2003 Berlin Marathon, where he set the marathon world record of 2:04:55. A 17-man lead pack at the halfway mark, on the Pulaski Bridge that connects Brooklyn to Queens, was winnowed to three in the final miles. Ramaala made several surges, but failed to shake Tergat. The victory earned Tergat $125,000. Prokopcuka won a marathon-record $160,000 in the race, whose primary sponsor was Dutch financial services company ING. R.I.P. 10,000 Indonesian Christians 1998-2003
masterblaster72 replied to Sen.Blutarsky's topic in Speakers Corner
I think it's about something bigger than that. Here's my take on it -- a global problem. I remember Sen. Blutarsky posted another thread where he mentions the "Islamicisation" of Europe via integration of Turkey into the EU. I share the sentiment. Did you know that the Italian government in previous years has FUNDED the building of mosques to accommodate the deluge of Muslim immigrants in Italy? Coincidentally, did you know that three years ago, the U.S. Treasury Department referred to Milan's main mosque and cultural centre as "the main al-Qaeda station house in Europe"? Did you know Muslims have complained in certain Italian towns about the statues and art in the towns because they are offended by their Christian themes and have gone so far as to vandalize them? There was a case in Central Italy where a Muslim student took a school district to court over crucifixes in the classroom. She didn't win, not yet at least. The arrest of terrorists who wanted to poison the water supply in Rome in late 2001, the arrest of Muslims in Rome linked with the London subway bombings... I spoke with a man from Holland on a train a couple of years ago. He said that in his town Muslims are actively seeking to stop church bells from being rung. Yet the local community tolerates their five-time-per-day call to prayer. Then there's the brutal murder of filmmaker Theo Van Gogh.... These are just a couple of countries, and only a few examples. The Europeans' tolerance coupled with their kindness and complacency has made this a pattern that, in my opinion, will lead to the destabilization of Europe in coming decades if not taken seriously enough. I'm not going to go on about how violent a religion Islam is. Sufism is as peaceful as Buddhism, but unfortunately Sufis are a small minority. I do think there is a virulent sect of Islam that's responsible for a lot of the religious-driven violence and it's called Wahhabism. It's become a global problem, and unfortunately it is fed by poverty and ignorance, not easy problems to solve in places like Indonesia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -

Re: [Luv2Fall] Are you attracted to a certain race or ethnicity
masterblaster72 replied to Steel's topic in Speakers Corner
Why not?? Nature hasn't placed any restrictions on different "races" getting together. Well that's good to know. But I think it's strange that you have to reaffirm that you don't think there shouldn't be laws against it. Almost as if it's a real issue to you. I'm a LIBERAL, but I don't take politics seriously enough to let it interfere with my vision. Also, I don't know what world you're living in, but liberals don't preach about anything as being the moral thing to do. Rednecks do that. I've dated women of all races, my gf is not white, and it has sh.t to do with my political ideology. If your perception of interracial couples is political then you obviously have a political problem with interracial dating. Then again, that's not surprising coming from someone who posts a picture of a pickup truck and a hummer in his avatar.
