I like the thin and whispy ones (cirrus clouds?) -- they're usually well above 13,5 and the sun can still shine through them. The big and puffy ones are cool too, so long as they're not grounding me on a Saturday or Sunday. They're also fun to fall through...not that I've ever done that Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Does anything get posted in this forum without some republican making a left/right argument out of something that's not intended to be a left/right argument to begin with? And never mind giving the article a read...much better to opt for a mindless knee-jerk reaction. By the way, there's a section in the article entitled "How Do I Know This Isn't Just Fear-Mongering by Loony-Environmentalists?" Not that you'd bother reading it anyhow...just letting you know. The truth is a wonderful thing, very admirable of you to be so honest. Speaking of truth, give a listen to the Spirit of Truth. I'm not a religious guy, but I find this man's sermon truly uplifting for my spirits, hope you do too. Perhaps it'll even unjade you and renew your faith in humanity. One of the most violent movie scenes ever.
masterblaster72 replied to niolosoiale's topic in The Bonfire
The chainsaw scene in Scarface, IMO is the most violent. I agree with the previous posts about Saving Private Ryan and Joe Pesci getting whacked in Casino. There's also the beat-down in GoodFellas, that was pretty ill. I can't believe you took Silent Hill that seriously; special effects don't freak me out in the least. What did you think of that movie? I think it's one of the worst I've ever seen, I'd have been better off using the $12 I spent as toilet paper. Unfortunately it was my friend's choice to see it and not mine... Military recruits an austic 18yr old...
masterblaster72 replied to stoneycase's topic in Speakers Corner
I familiar with autism since someone close to me is autistic. The sensory problem would be a *major* issue on the battlefield. Most people with even mild forms of autism will likely freak at the sound of loud gunfire, bombs, etc, and would probably not be effective in a combat situation because of that. Not to say that the person could not be conditioned for the battlefield, but I don't think the 'special operations' units in the army were designed for people with special needs like the fellow who was recruited. I think the bigger problem is the fact that the military didn't do its homework and run a medical background check on the kid. Also a problem is the attitude of the recruiter toward the family -- less than professional. I think it's indicative of the frustration on the part of the recruiter and the fact that he's having a tough time getting anyone to join...not a good sign of the state of affairs in the recruiting wing of our military these days. My average has been ten miles daily, at least six days a week. This summer I'm stepping it up to average 12-13 miles daily, including a weekly (as opposed to bi-weekly) 20+ mile run. I've been knocking on the 3-hour door for four marathons now, and to kick that door down in the next marathon I'm going to have to boost my mileage. With the long, warm summer days ahead, and with my team practicing in the park again, I'm looking forward to it, should be heaps of fun. What is your favorite scenic place to skydive?

Skydive Tortuga in Arezzo, Italy. Beautiful views of the rolling Tuscan hills... Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -
Ranked by whom, and according to what criteria? Just curious. Not that I expect a response from The Man, but if anyone else has any idea, please share. Thanks. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Which questionable forum posting behavior is your vice?
masterblaster72 replied to SkydiveStMarys's topic in The Bonfire
You're actually quite good at it -- I think most of the SC fluff you post is pretty funny or at least worth reading. Unfortunately, the others who regularly post the distracting non-seq one-liners in SC think they're being funny/witty but they're really only amusing themselves, makes for very poor reading. My compliments. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -

Do I have the right to check green cards
masterblaster72 replied to NelKel's topic in Speakers Corner
Absolutely, the constitution guarantees you that right. I can't remember the exact passage where it says that, but, knowing that you like to read a lot, I'm sure you'll have no problem going through the sections and articles here. You have the right to tell them to "Either pay the fucking tax, get the fuck out of my country, get yor ass kicked by me." Not only that, you have the right to actually kick their ass and forcibly remove them from the country. I'd be happy to take you to East LA and show you what Mexicans look like. I can even teach you how to say "Dame tu carta vierde, ahora putasso!!". As a matter of fact, I know you're in Alabama, so if you do us all this patriotic favor I will personally pay your ticket out to LA, meet you there, and drop you off in the heart of the barrios. Only catch is that I get to film you in action and that I get all rights to the footage. Deal? Nice scores -- I didn't give Australia or China a try since I don't know squat about those countries' provinces. Kaliningrad is that strange exclave wedged in between Poland and Lithuania, completely separated from the Russian mainland -- have a look here if you like -- at tuxedo-shop.com of all places.... (?) Here. Don't these people realize that clean air and water is bad for their economy? Let's face it, clean air and water is for PUSSIES. If they aren't genetically fit to drink mercury-infested water and still flourish, then Darwin is doing us a favor by accelerating the process and letting them die off. And the nerve of Koizumi to apologize for his government as detailed in this article. If he had any sense at all about how to run a government, he'd know better than to apologize. Instead of apologizing (I mean, he must be a geisha in a man suit, right? what a tinkerbell!) he should be rewarding industry by easing restrictions on emissions, mercury, arsenic.... And speaking of patriotic American policy, why can't the patchouli-wearing, redwood-boffing LIBERALS realize that what companies like Monsanto and General Electric do is GOOD for our economy? They'd be better off keeping their mouths shut like true American patriots, while enjoying the added flavor of nutritive, purifying additives like PCB's and mercury in their water. For f.cks sake, GE has the burden of cleaning up the Hudson now because of these whimpering liberal fairies -- how unfair to GE, and to our economy! Just another reason why my utilities have gone through the roof! The nerve of these people! Dick Lamm's "Plan to Destroy America."
masterblaster72 replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
I think the answer would be 1 -- trying to accommodate a rapidly growing population in a short-sighted way, with bad results. As far as the selfish intentions go, I think politicians on both sides will exploit the situation no matter how it turns out -- the left with the entitlement vote, the Bush admin with its stand on the guest worker issue. I doubt the politicians willfully created an environment where immigrants are stifled by their own language, but if there are politicians that somehow benefit from the situation, chances are it won't change any time soon. Dick Lamm's "Plan to Destroy America."
masterblaster72 replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
I see Mr. Lamm's point, I just think he does a really lousy job of communicating it. I'd be curious to know how many generations deep Mr. Lamm is. My guess is that his family goes back at least four generations in the USA if not longer -- I cannot picture a first- or second-generation American making such a speech. What's wrong with keeping one's language and culture, provided that they learn English as well? Maybe I'm misreading this, but is he saying that Hispanic and Black dropout rates are higher because their cultures are inferior? I'm having trouble with this quote from B. Schwarz's article. What does it mean ethnocentrically to be American -- WASP? Of his small list of items that can destroy America, dual citizenship is one of them? That's a laugh -- I could list 100+ other threats more significant to the well-being of this country than permitting dual citizenship. ----- Now, I do realize that what he's speaking about is the "new breed" of immigrant, and I think that this is an international phenomenon, not just unique to the USA. The breed of immigrant that goes to a country and tries to change its host culture, similar to what you have in Europe. Difference here is that the Mexican immigrants he's speaking of, though many may not learn English, work pretty hard and are not looking for a free ride. If you think it's bad here, go to France, where you cannot mention that someone is an Arab even if they are in fact Arabs. Or try Italy where the government is building mosques while giving handouts to illegal immigrants just because they're there. Or Holland where imams make their 5x daily tower calls but complain about church bells...and in the face of all that, those governments putting their tails between their legs when those illegal immigrants complain about anything. What he's talking about is the "for English, press 1, para español, marque el 2" thing, and I think he has a valid point. I don't see it as a threat as he sees it; rather, I see it as unfair to the immigrants to accommodate them this way because it will hinder their progress in our society by encouraging them NOT to learn English. There are kids in Chinatown and Spanish parts of NYC that graduate high school and barely know how to read English, thus facing a tremendous disadvantage in comparison to other students. That, to me, is where the multilingual problem he's speaking of goes way wrong. That said, this country has always been extremely resistant to non-Anglo influences, and continues to be to this day. Americans have shown very little curiosity or openness when it comes to non-English speaking immigrants arriving in this country, that's nothing new. I think our diversity is our strength, and our history has shown that immigration has benefited this country rather than undermined it. Mr. Lamm's point is that a line needs to be drawn, and I can agree with that, but he just did a weak job of getting that point across. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -
Not sure what you mean by getting catered to, but if you mean funding, then have a look at this. Seems to me that less populous areas get catered to quite well in regard to funding... Lawrocket, I see your points, but I'm defining fairness in terms of voting equality, not by whether the rules of the game are known. To me, the Senate solves the problem of potential unfair skewing in policymaking toward the urban population; I don't think the same idea should extend to the presidential elections. Again, I think the design of the electoral system weighs in favor of the rural vote. I'd be interested in hearing you elaborate on this -- How would a numerical majority of votes be unfair? In that case, should an electoral type of system be implemented in state-level elections? Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Unfair because a candidate can receive the majority of popular votes and still lose, look at 2000. I don't want or care to get into a discussion about the 2000 election, just pointing out an example of where I think the electoral college idea goes wrong. My idea is that all votes should be equal, and in this system, some votes are apparently more equal than others. And rehmwa -- if it makes you feel better to twist my Wyoming podunk comment to make an urban elitist snob out of me (if you knew me in the least you'd realize I am not at all), then good for you. My point is that a rural vote carries more weight than an urban vote in respect to the 2000 election and Senate policymaking. Again, I think all votes should have equal weight, no matter where people are from. If anything, the system's design implies a certain superiority on the part of rural voters rather than urban. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

I think the founding fathers got it wrong here. I think having the Senate is enough -- two senators for Wyoming, and two senators for NY? Yes, there is the House, but nothing from the House gets effected without the Senate's approval. So in the end, a Wyoming podunk vote carries more weight than an urban vote. Then, on top of that, there's the electoral college which takes that same concept to the executive level. I think the founding fathers overdid it a bit on trying to get the rural areas represented "fairly." If it were up to me, I'd propose an amendment to the constitution and eliminate the electoral college for presidential elections. As far as red vs. blue states go, I think this is an entertaining read. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

With the exception of Julie Banderas I think those Fox anchors wouldn't be a whole lot to speak of without the help of heavy makeup and TV lighting.
