we base it on licenses here, not jump #s. sometimes a person may have 400 jumps but only a c license. talking to the S&TA usually will allow you to jump in those cases, but 90% of the time it's based on licenses, just because having a D in hand per se guarantees that you have met certain canopy accuracy requirements. 400 jumps and no license doesn't necessarily say the same thing. lso, less experienced jumpers tend to have larger canopies with lower wing loadings that would back up in winds we had this weekend. I started looking as soon as I got finished AFF. Demoed a bunch of canopies, rigs, etc. Didn't actually buy and have my own until about 45 jumps though. Gear is expensive (obviously) so it's important to be happy with what you get, and to have something you will potentially be able to use for a while. Our S&TAs look out for low timers. Winds can get pretty hairy in our landing area at times, like after a storm moves out, so sometimes wind holds will be put on based on experience levels. Just a safety thing. Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks

hey kev- you'll have to introduce yourself tomorrow, I'll be around pretty much all day. How long were ya around today (Sunday)? My team was doing the NSL meet all afternoon and got to play in the hairy winds... tehy died at about 6 PM almost totally and I believe AFP students started going up!!! scuba kicks ass.... except for the lack of freefall part. =c) got my C-Card when I was 13, my dad's a divemaster through PADI. Went diving in Cozumel (Palancar Reef and Paraiso Reef were gorgeous!!!) and Jamaica then some quarries... then started jumping. Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks

Paul Fairbanks (PLF) is an EXCELLENT night photographer and videographer. did a 4way I was on in September/Octoberish. Hard to get ahold of, but his work is incredible. I would have to say that I enjoy jumps close to the Ocean most. Lake Wales was really nice too, view wise. Other than that... for night jumps I like lots of lights. up here at Cross keys you can see Philly lit up as wella s Atlantic City... it's gorgeous... Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks

Sweet story!!! similar here- did some 4way coaching (AND FOUND A NEW TEAM!!! our debut wil be June 17 at MA NSL MEet 2) today- started packing and Roger was starting to organize... it was 5 minute call... so I had a buddy who does tandems say "Hey jsut go grab my rig!"- we have the same main, so it didn't bother me. I used his rig when I was demo-ing a spectre anyway. OPened up and it was iffy if I'd make it back. I knew mine woul haved, but his, well, it would be cklose. it seemed to sink a bit more than mine. I picked my feet up to miss the tree line adn made the field by by 20 feet if I was lucky. Almost my first tree landing!!!! Was asked to do a new 4way team... great honor. Memorial Day @ Cross Keys: Friday: organized jumps with Boxman & the Tiki bar of course Saturday: kinda rainy, but still fun. World premier of the "Average Freefly Video" by Stuey which is 1 hour of INCREDIBLE entertainment. Buffet dinner and free drinks from around the world (saki to red bull and vodka to south african purple shots.....)... then gladiator jousting! The jousting evolved into hand to hand combat between Manifest and Square 3, then BASE jumping from the lockers into the mats. Eddie set himself on fire. Fireworks. Someone ran naked to the peas for a T shirt. you get the idea. Sunday: organizing by Roger Ponce and Boxman. raffle for prizes ranging from yoyos to huge Icarus and Voodoo discounts. Another sweet party night. Monday: more jumping/organized stuff.... started jumping in Tevas and got my new custom helmet, kick ass 7 way with more points than i can count. and then there were some freefliers too.... sounds awesome pammi! our weekend up here was pretty amazing too... monkey claw had thier freefly jam which was incredible... around the world beverages, someone lit themselves on fire, gladiator joust, some BASE jumping off the lockers, tiki mania, and then of course skydiving. pulled off a sweet 7 way with Roger Ponce last night, turned more points i think on that jump than I have on a 4 way which was pretty sweet. =c) Off to jump... skies are gorgeous here... 3 way tie for this one: 1. my 199th in NC which was a 21 way with me, derek thomas and lyle presse in the base. turned almost 4 points on it. 2. 4 way two weeks ago where we turned 16 points doing vertical piece turns 3. 30 point 3 way in Lake Wales this winter. =c) Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks

monkey claw knows how to part-ay. saturday night's party is an around the world party. if you pay the registration fee for thier boogie drinks are free. if not i believe you can buy drinks. the party is goign to feature different drinks from all ove the globe, and everyone gets a passport to get stamped, ideally havinga drink from every "country." The bar otuside will be hoppin' as well, with the wheel spinning all night (if froggie has anything to do with it...).
