  1. of course i'll be there... we're getting in at about 7 weds night, cuz kel is not allowed to stop for a smoke the whole way down. =c) she may have congestive heart failure by the time we get there, but oh well. =c) Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
  2. tattoos hurt more if there is more bone underneath of them. for example your foot would hurt more than the stomach. I laughed through mine actually, just take a friend to talk to and it won't be bad at all. It's kinda addictive. =c) Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
  3. good job kel. =c) we both had kickass days today, didn't we? =c) Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks

  5. Jim- In my CRW stuff with Kruse he has always said the bottom cuts away first for seperation purposes and because the top person would obviously fall into the mess further if he were to chop. I'm racking my brain as to why womeoen would say what you read. hmmmm. Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
  6. depends on the weather. if it's crappy outside, then of course sex and beer are going to come above skydiving. But if it's nice outside... mix all three together for the *perfect* day... =c) So I'm greedy. =cP Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks

  12. USPA has some recommendations for CRW.. equipment wise, a 7 Cell main. any size will work, so long as your CRW partner has a similar loading. you don't want to spend your entire dive chasing him/her across the sky because htey are loading an Extreme VX at 1.5 and you have a docile F111 at .8 or something. makes sense? I do CRW with my spectre. My instructor that I work with has no problems with this at all. I dont' have any of the line mods on it. I do carry a knife, but it's really important to go through an intense safety briefing on CRW mals, such as entanglements, multiple canopies out... things tend to get more interesting when you're linked up with someone. There are a lot of things you can do before going to the knife, per se, and various signals to give in those scenarios. CRW is awesome. It will make you reallly appreciate your canopy, and realize what it is capable of. Blue Ones! Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
  13. I've only been in the sport for about 10 months now, but I've been very active in those months. Went down to Florida for New Years, as a lot of skydivers do. It was a great week, and I ran into a lot of people from up at my home DZ. A few of us did a 16way competition, two jumpers said they were just going to jump 4way all day, etc. Didn't think twice of it. Our team was out in teh field dirt diving, as we were on about a 15 minute call, and all I remember clearly is seeing a canopy, a familiar canopy, fly in and make a low turn. In seemingly slow motion, the canopy seemed to just fall to teh side, collapsing like an accordion. The sound that went along with it was a sound that I can not get out of my mind to this day. I remember looking in awe at one of my home DZ jumpers, and asking who it was, because the canopy looked frighteningly familiar. We learned quickly that it was our friend from home, and I couldn't speak, I felt like I was in a daze. He was flown to a hospital in Tampa, and I learned he passed on later that evening. This jumper was someone who was always willing to jump with me as a beginner, offered some incredibly helpful advice to me, and was one of the staple faces on our DZ. This season is going to be very strange without him. I'll never forget the feeling and sound when he hit and when i realized who it was. It was like everything inside of me had hollowed out. that was reallly funny... I'm working in a graphics lab right now and I just started laughing out loud. People are looking over here funny.... Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
  15. Last summer when I got off of student status at the end of June I was doing about 45-50 a month. I also worked on the DZ which made jumping easier, but I think doing this many really spikes the learning curve. There's so much to learn in this sport that, well, just has to be learned and is hard to teach. Muscle memory techniques are obviously learned more quickly through frequent repetition as well... Hope this helps... Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
  16. YOu can apply for the USPA license, I'm pretty sure that you just have to meet the requirements and take the written tests.. but beyond that BPA and USPA work with cross overs a lot. Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
  17. fruce had a discussion about this I believe.... Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
  18. I dunno, I'm prolly gonna do one on my birthday this summer. It's not too cold in August, and I wanna try it. Why not? I would definitely take something to wear in the plane tho... can you imagine a plane loading up with 6 first time tandems... heh heh... good DZ PR I guess!!! Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
  19. Hey! I'm stacy, jump at cross keys in nj as well. been jumping since june (except one tandem before that) and I'm gonna hit 200 in the next 2 weeks too! yahoo!!! I like RW much better than freeflying unless it's somethign goofy like eating freezer pops or bananas in a sit... =c) CRW is my second choice. =c) Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
  20. um i'm still glad i wasn't there, just as i'm glad you will be about 50 (100?) feet away next weekend... um, and not around at all too. ideally, not around at all. =c) feeling a little artistic? Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
  21. the sheep were pretty hard to think of a story for though... no offense, but i'm glad i wasn't there for the most part... heh heh Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
  22. oh kelly if you only knew how much i am laughing right now.... but i'm still a bit speechless... Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
  23. When I start talkign about skydiving most people are shocked... I try to do it in a calm- it's totally normal tone of voice, almost as if I think it is as normal and routine as say showering. It is for me, but people just go crazy when I seem so relaxed about it and don't think twice about doing it... definitely gets some fun reactions. =c) Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks

    Ohio Dropzones

OHIO??? Doesn't your job understand that Jim jumps at Cross Keys?? Please explain this to them. The AFF JM car does not drive to Ohio. Stacy http://astro.temple.edu/~sweeks
  25. UNder the assumption that you're going to do primarily RW: 1. You'll definitely want booties. Several other threads discuss the benefits. 2. Most suits come standard with the uppoer arm grips and leg grips (outer). Inner leg grips are nice to have, they are usually extra though. If you're plannign on getting into more serious RW, competition, etc I would say these are a must. 3. Fabric types are going to depend on your fall characteristics. IE- less spandex if you fall faster, bigger/baggier styles if you fall fast, tighter if you are a little floaty feather. you get the idea. 4. Also with fabrics- you can get cordura knees/rear end if you think you are going to have some rough landings. that's personal choice. 5. Booties can be made of several fabrics, durability and cost are the two main issues with that. 6. Most other options are aesthetic- stripes on grips, etc etc. Some companies offer fat grips/square grips.. again just look at them. You'll know what you like. I personally don't like realllly thin grips, but that's just me. 7. If you are looking at options and these types of things you are probably getting one custom made. I dont' think they make stock suits. I may be wrong on that, but I've never seen them. SOme stores have consignment ones that were made not up to specifications that a customer wanted, etc... but they aren't that much different in price. I had a great experience with Bev (Bev Suits- she's in PA). No complaints, she had it done in half the time that was estimated and it was perfect. =c) hope this helps!
